davidif:Nice thinking! I always wonder why they can't really push hard to change that law. I was reading an article where the Delta state Governor referred to plans for power generation from Delta State alone of 2500MW of electricity over the next 4 years. According to what he said, funds were not a problem as, the state as well as willing investors are financially capable 2 handle it. However, he referred to the success of the project being hinged on the FG's willingness to allow the state utilize the generated power for Delta state and sell the excess capacity to others. Problem is, the constitution doesn't allow! |
jensinmi:Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are far too correct! !@ poster Seeing is believing! Paste some pictures lets see and believe. |
Why would you value Nairaland at just 20 million! That's disrespctful/ Even very unreliable sources values nairaland at much more. Even cubestats values Nairaland at much more!
|
So true brother! It's the simple reason why you haven't heard a good governor like Fashola talk about Power generation! It makes investment in power so unattractive. Unbundle that part of the constitution and the electricity problem is solved. |
davidif:Because the Nigerian constitution makes your request impossible. The constitution demands that, If any state government generates electricity, it has to pump it into the national grid, which would eventually be shared btw all the states from zamfara to abia! The constitution is the hindrance to the nations growth. |
Hmmmm! I have my fears! Mikeansy has made a very valid point. The CBN Governor has a duty to protect the banking system. Being tough is OK, but talking tough on the pages of the media is not a good sign at all. They haven't done the audit and he is speaking like he already knows the results. I fear the outcome. I already feel like pulling my funds out of the system. The banking system currently is filled with cooked up figures- True! But I bet you, cooked up figures are much better than having a system where there is low public confidence. Sincerely, there's got to be some crude agenda. I'm not a fan of ethnic profiling and I don't usually like commenting on ethnic issues, but I must say this one: The North lost out drastically in the Banking sector and it wants badly to get back in. Of the 24 banks in the country, only one is owned by, or headed by a northerner. And that one is Unity bank- the smallest and least successful bank in the country. When he opens up the banks to foreign ownership, Arab money moves in to take over majority of the banks! It sounds very stupid, but I had to add that, cos I know its a fact and that's the agenda! |
mark44:Reread! Elrazur didn't refer 2 u as cheap. I think he asked Gamine if her product is cheaper tha alabiyemmy! |
Why did the Gaminechic run away?
I don't think she ran away. She probably accesses the internet from work, so lets wait and see maybe tomorrow she'll respond. On a second thought, she might be scared stiff of labiyemmy's potential lawsuit! No, I don't think so! |
After Lagos and Abuja, the Niger Delta is looking like the next most developed region in the country. There are pictures of Warri on Nairaland, pictures of Calabar and now pictures of Bayelsa. . . . all looking really nice. I don't know any other part of Nigeria that can boast of any pictures this nice. Why is the media giving the impression that the region is so underdeveloped?? @poster The uncompleted storey building. . . what's the intended use and how many stories on completion? |
I also join the apology train and offer an apology for any wrongdoing whatsoever. Although I didn't do nothing. @Labiyemmy I know your maps and the fact that they are originally yours. My only grouse is the "b***" word u used on Gamine. Not cool. xcept maybe u refered to the pirating company. On a second thought, don't you think it would be cool for you guys(Third Dimensions) to create a navi system just like this one Gamine is advertising. Cos this one is waaaaay cooler than those Garmin Navi-systems. |
Yar Adua is going to get the title of the worst president Nigeria ever had. Even Abuja is experiencing a downward spiral simply because he couldn't choose a good and responsible minister for the city. |
Its not only the leaders that are corrupt. The average man I think is more corrupt than the leaders. If you kill all the corrupt leaders, another bunch of corrupt leaders would emerge. |
informat09:Nuhu Ribadu's effort in checkmating which thief?? How do u get ur info sef. Amaechi wasn't yet Governor of Rivers State when Nuhu was removed as chairman of EFCC. Not every bad news about anybody should excite you. Always be objective in your analysis. |
The story just doesn't stick! Really does sound like a desperate attempt at discrediting the Governor. |
@Labiyemmy Naaah! You don't refer to GAMINE with a name like that! You really shouldn't. @Manny4life Right on point. Copyright doesn't prevent others from creating innovations similar to yours. If your company was able to map as many as 160 cities and 30,000 POIs, what makes you feel that the company that produced that map cannot do the same. Your copyright case would be a hard one especially as the producing company is not domiciled in Nigeria. |
Now this is where it gets interesting. Copyright infringement?? In Nigeria I don't know who will listen.Anyways, lets wait and see if Gaminechic has anything to say. Or would she cooperate with labiyemmy. I love the product sha, and I wouldn't mind buying. |
"Take the Risk" by Ben Carson. (almost through) "Exploring Corporate Strategy" Gerry Johnson and Kevan Scholes. (re-reading it). Pepeye:Interesting read. The style of writing is very striking. Exposes Obama's deep seated intelligence. Never read a book that is majorly conversational and yet so engaging. My best part of the book is at the end of part 2: Pages 291 - 295! I luv the rendering of that scenario. |
goldland:I am a fan of creative thinking. And this is an example! Nice one! |
@ Topic While I don't totally disagree with the post, It is important you know that everything you presently know was taught to you by someone. Whats important is how you advance the information you are given. I do think that the kind of education we have in Africa doesn't enhance learning. I also think our academicians are one of those responsible for our problems as they've failed to use their knowledge to create opportunities! |
See ignorant Nairalanders in action. No wonder !!! No wonder Nigeria is this useless. It is not the leadership, it is the people that is the problem. See nairalanders writing rubbish about someone that is been persecuted because he tried to fix Abuja. I pity for Nigeria! El Rufai is a man of intelligence and he brought Abuja some glory. |
bawomolo:Whether for their pockets or for the people, the fact is there is an oppression and that oppression and deprivation must end wshether by fighting for the people or for their pockets, the important thing is they have are fighting a cause. mikeansy:MEND has never been known to rape girls or kidnap kids. MEND is domiciled in Delta state and there has almost never been a record of kidnapping or raping in Delta State. The kidnapping of kids is done by criminal gangs in Rivers and a few other states where MEND has no jurisdiction. |
bawomolo:Who told you the militants care one inch about the villages. They've made more than enough money and moved into the cities. Asides the villages have long been destroyed by those fires from gas flaring by the multinationals. |
violence is not the solution. yorubas didnt go to war, yet they got the presidency . . . and other privileges that go with it.
What reasoning!! As if getting the presidency is a thing to be compared with resource deprivation and environmental degradation! Priviledges He I don't know of any oh! |
mikeansy:Mikeansy, if you know a bit of psychology, you'd read the letter more carefully and understand that the battle has entered a new phase! That letter doesn't signify any form of defeat, it actually connotes a shift toward a more ideological stand as against the aimless kidnapping that was previously followed. Any battle with a strong ideological leaning is usually a more dangerous one. |
Hmmmmmmmmmmm!! Really thought provoking! |
The reason is simple! Nigerians are tired of Nigeria as is. They are tired of self serving politicians and Northern Oligarchs. Anything that would change the status quo is welcome. MEND is changing the status quo. They are proving that while the government oppresses the people, they can assist the people in oppressing the government! Without question, the reason a MEND exists in the first place is because the federal government has failed on all fronts, be it security, justice, economics, management or whatever. The FG has failed. So MEND is a reaction to Government's failure. |
Many that know Bob Izua and the havoc he is known for would be glad at his kidnapping!! If you knew Bob Izua, you would have no sympathies. In fact you would commend his kidnappers! |
nuzo:You are right. I dislike graphical representations too, especially when the graphics are so poor, like the one I posted. I posted it for illustration sha. That project has begun, and it is a major project that would change the industrial landscape of both Warri and the whole of the South South region. nuzo:If you consider these two facts: 1) Warri had a long crises period that stunted it's growth and 2)The only places in Nigeria that have witnessed significant change since '95 are Abuja and the Lekki axis of Lagos. Consider these and you'd realise Warri has changed big since '95. I get ur point sha and I'll upload more as time/availability permits. DennisRod:Enjoy! Some of the pics here are actually from the SSC thread. I no be Urhobo oooh! But Waadoo sha! @Davidpeter You are true patroit! I hail you! |
Both of them are exemplary gentlemen! Would find it hard to choose! I prefer Fashola's personality, but I think Soludo is more radical and would bring to the table some catalystic elements that would transform Nigeria at breath taking speed. Then again, I prefer Fashola's persona! |
ThinkRait:Yeah, Warri doesn't have any highrise buildings just like every other part of Nigeria. Lagos has very few of what we can call highrise buildings. Those 6 - 8 storey buildings ain't really no highrises. Asides, Lagos is at least 15 times the size of Warri population wise. Truly, the attitude of the people is something else. Every word they speak is either a comedic performance or an art form! |
Pepeye:Am I being mysterious about it? Naaaah. Ok. Actually I think u exude a lot of positive energy. . . so I was looking for a way to commend that. Don't worry about the trail you left and the cool thing I learned. Just keep doing what u do. Warri has certainly improvedIt sure has! |
RICHIE BOI:I agree with the three. . . . but I'll reorder it to look like. . . 1]Fashola 2] Uduaghan 3]Amaechi |
