Michaeljones36: Sounds like corruption to me.He shouldn't have influence over the NCAA but he should have influence over the EFCC and the Power Ministry abi? When plane crash tomorrow you would say na Jonathan wife cause am. Hypocrisy. I think Amaechi is a very unwise man and has chosen a wrong fight. Even the opposition fights the President with caution despite having little to loose. Tell him to call Ibori and Alams for some lessons in power intrigues. |
tbaba1234: Why is it difficult for some non muslims to apply the reason and open mind when dealing with muslims?Let me put things in better perspective. Why are there countless mosques in United states,UK and other Chhristian nations worldwide, but In Saudi Arabia churches are not allowed. In Qatar Churches are not allowed. Why do muslims want the right to wear the hijab everywhere they go and wouldnt allow non muslims dress the way they want in their own countries? |
Billyonaire: I call it stupidity! Your eye should always be on the Goal and Gold irrespective of any Chinese Distraction. We have medics on the field, and their job includes hydrating the dehydrated. I do not see this as anything worth commendation but something worth condemnation. Eyes must always be on Goal and Gold, no distractions whatsoever should take anyone from focus! Africa needs reorientation on the mechanisms of winning! You win first, before doing Charity!Nice one Billy. However that is core capitalist thinking! The world is leaving Core Capitalism and moving towards Conscious Capitalism. Check it up. Positive Impact is more important than Quantum acquisition. Billy Gates is on a new thing. Instead of winning Oracle, Google and Apple he has opted to win Polio, Malaria and AIDS. Billy Buffet is giving off half his wealth to causes and encouraging other Billies to do so. Billies are trending these things these days: Conscious Capitalism, Impact Investments, Social Entrepreneurship! Ask Billy Elumelu! He'll tell you. Eyes on Goal and Gold no more. Eyes on Impact and Well Being now the ish. The gesture from the Kenyan Marathoner is worthy of commendation. She made impact and improved the Chinese guys well being. |
Tolexander: mr man, i read the post. But seriously I have three questions for you. 1)What school did you attend? 2)When last did you read and understand a book? 3)Is it possible to collect back your school fees from your school? Because obviously comprehension is a huge issue for you! Please reread the article and do it slowly, very slowly. Once again, compensation is for victims and not perpetrators of violence. I hope you comprehend. |
iheanyiebeneze: I HAVE COLLECTED THE 2BAGS OF FERTILIZER AT #7000 FOR THE AGRICULTURAL GROWTH ENHANCEMENT SCHEME GES. THIS HAS FURTHER CONFIRMED THAT PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS WORKING.NIGERIA IS WORKING.I keep saying Nigeria is changing rapidly. I am very happy for you. You are a farmer right? Please I need to ask a few questions. It might derail the thread, but never mind. I am working on an Agribusiness project with some foreign partners and we seek to impact the value chain from small holder farmer(like you) all the way to end consumer. I want to know, what exactly do you farm, on how many acres, what is your yield rate currently, how and to whom do you sell your produce and at what price is your produce sold compared to what its sold in the market. Finally, how do you store your produce and how much of it eventually gets wasted. Also, would you be interested if you are given certain specifications to improve your yield and your produce is purchased even before it is farmed? Would that guarantee make you follow farming and harvesting conditions set by those who pay for your produce even before it is farmed? Thanks, I would appreciate answers even if not all. And apologies for derailing the thread. |
In the south they burn suspected armed robbers for stealing phones.( I don't support it) I bet if Boko Haram is found in any southern neighbourhood, they would be roasted and handed over to vultures for suya. |
otokx: Thank God you told the truth about the light situation as at time T.I always tell the truth. Always! |
otokx: Can you please comment on the electricity situation in the area of Port Harcourt that you stayed?I was at the Nicon Hotel & Apartments in GRA and they use generators, so I can't really tell what the PHCN situation was. But where I am right now, there hasn't been light since Friday. Its horrible. Don't know what is happening. I haven't really been impressed since Barth Nnaji left. But I know that with the privatisation and the completion of the NIPPs, things are definitely looking up. |
kunlekunle: The minister for housing said shes not responsible for building houses, just to make regulationI don't see any reason why the FG should build houses. 99% of all houses in the country are built by businesses and individuals. There is no need for the FG or states to build houses. We are not a communist state. However, they should devise policy that would see a coordinated development of both low cost and middle income housing. The first thing to do is to work on our useless land use laws. The next thing is to develop a comprehensive policy that encourages efficacy of a mortgage system. |
Obviously, CPC is not a wise party. A party that should be working hard to erase the perception that it is a Sharia Party would be wise not to single out the main Christain body for unnecesary attacks. To win elections, you need the support of both christians and muslims. It goes to show the pathetic unintelligence of the CPC. |
Pataki: See this shameless liar. I have lived in Heerlen. Heerlen to Aachen is not a 2 lane interstate! Maybe you are viewing things from your limited road knowledge of Germany. Even the interstate road from Utrecht via Eindhoven to Dusseldorf is a 3 lane interstate passage! What of the A1 road from Amersfort/Enchede to Germany which I regularly travel on is a 3-4 lane interstate passage.Isn't it interesting that in 2 years of Jonathan's government, we have moved from arguing about hold ups and death traps on our highways, to arguing that they are not as good as the AutoBahn and other roads in the best of Europe? We have moved from arguing about our railtracks been used as market squares to comparing the speed of our trains to the High Speed Rails in the developed parts of the world. You must admit two things. 1)Nigeria is changing for the better. 2)You dont like a better Nigeria as long is it comes from Jonathan. |
Bobs! I travelled to Port Harcourt Yesterday! Jonathan don vex. I have never seen as much construction in one strecth of road like I saw on the east west road. The type and quantity of trucks alone, you go fear!! To be fair, Nigeria is experiencing a massive infrastructure renewal! |
phlamy: This goes to my SE and SS folks and friends. Giving the level of imbroglio between GEJ and Amaechi over this 2015 thingz, who would you support for 2015 if GEJ decides to run. GEJ runs for precidency and Amaechi for Vice to another. Who would you support and reasonNobody will vote for Amaechi as a vice president against Jonathan. Not even Amaechi's cousins. In case you don't know the Governor of a state like Rivers is much more influential than the vice President. Most southerners dont want to see a northern president anytime soon for the simple reason they are tired of this whole born to rule mentality. Rather people would prefer a Nigerian President whether a Northerner or Southerner. |
Obiagelli: Inflation rate was loweredA sudden lowering of inflation rates is a very bad sign and a signal of a contracting economy. Inflation occurs for many reasons one of which is increased earnings. If people suddenly begin to earn less money, their spending begins to go down and in turn, deflation occurs. The deflation you reffered to was surely a signalling of how bad things were getting at the time which is the exact reason Babangida's takeover was followed by a resounding jubilation accross the country. The problem with you guys is you fail to ask Buhari what he has done in his own private capacity to better the lot of people in his neighbourhood. There are many derelict schools all over Katsina state. Why can't Buhari show some example and use his influence to get some of those schools renovated. Why are there no pictures of Buhari in an orphanage helping out poor people. Why arent there any indigent students on a Buhari Scholarship. Why is it only elections that Buhari talks about. Buhari followers should understand Karma. The man can never be president in a democratic setting for the simple fact that he truncated our new born democracy in 1983. Why hasnt Buhari been able to get the only CPC state in the country to fight the corruption he says the FG should fight. Or are state governors exempt from fighting corruption? Get real. Get responsible. The government is acting the way it does because it knows citizens also as as irresponsible as the government. Thieves cant be bothered if fellow thieves tell them to stop stealing. |
Obiagelli: Good insight, but Nigerians are good followers, good leadership would turn this country around, a very good example is the buhari regime, discipline was the order and everyone followed suit. Humans are naturally lawless that is why we have governments to ensure order. Trust me the white man would cheat if he knows that he wouldn't get caught. SO I REPEAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH OUR LEADERS, but they turn around and blame you while you also blame yourselves. Were you on planet earth when Buhari was head of state? Can you please tell me why Nigerians were jubilating when Babangida took over? Buhari was oppressive. He is one of the factors that destroyed Nigeria. If he left our democracy to continue in 1983, we would have been a much more advanced country. But no, he truncated it. Which do you prefer? People been flogged on the streets because they acted indiscipline or people who by virtue of thier wanting a better society, refuse to act indiscipline? Do people get flogged to line up for BRT or they willing choose to line up? Discipline is not our biggest problem. A lack of responsibility is.If we can connect our actions with its direct impact on society, we would be better off. If I am conscious of the fact that throwing a bottle on the floor is what makes our drainages get blocked and in turn causes unnecessary flooding, I will not do it. We need a mind revolution. Any drive to oppresively coerce people to toe a line would only result in unwanted repercussions. |
HOW DOES A REVOLUTION FIX THIS? https://pmnewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Area-boys-defecating.jpg |
Obiagelli: Again shut up, why do we have governments, what is their responsibility, where are the jobs, where is the enabling environment.A failed mindset and product of militocracy. The military made you feel like they owe you everything so that they could continue to control you existence. So they said, go to school and we will give you a job whe you finish. Since then, you been waiting on them. Why should I read the constitution. Why should the factor of how I would survive on planet earth depend on one piece of document created by hungry lawyers to satisfy the pleasures of their thieving superiors? No ma, my life is lived by my own constitution, a constitution that says in all I do I must do it excellently whether or not the government fails to do what they should do. The Nigerian Constitution is a set of rules that guide the actions of the state. It shouldn't be my all in all. Demand from your government? When others are asking what they can do to make the country better? All I should do is demand for food from government? I wasn't brought up like that! |
Obiagelli: Perfect sense on paper,What you fail to realize is that a country can only produce credible leadership when it has credible people. While I would agree with you that there is hardly any country doing great without credible leadership, there are tonnes of countries doing really badly despite having credible leadership. Or is it bad leadership causing the downturn in all of Europe? Or bad leadership causing gun violence in the USA? For any country to succeed, it must have a credible populace. The people must be willing to make it work. Only then would they produce good leaders. Ask yourself, why are the interior of our buildings so decrepit? Why do we fail to paint our exteriors? Why do people excrete in public places? Why do Nigerians go overseas and sell drugs? Are we the only country with bad leadership? Why do Nurses sell drugs given free to patients? Why do students cheat in Exams? Why do we have ritualists? Why are there so many willing kidnappers or armed robbers. Are we the only country where there are no jobs or where government is failing to provide security. Cameroun is doing worse than Nigeria in terms of job opportunities and security provison but the citizens have not resorted to kidnapping as a way of life. Same with Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Uganda. And Togo and Benin and Guinea. And Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and Myanmar. So why is our case different. Why are we the only ones going places with commision of havoc. Truth is we have a culture that promotes disorder. One that refuses to take responsibility but looks for who to blame. When we begin to realize that we have a duty and responsibility towards the functioning of our country, Nigeria would begin to change. |
Obiagelli: Why don't you just shut upYou are one of those that believe that Government will put food in your mouth yaaah? Keep waiting for Government to come to your house and live your life for your. Other people are asking what they can do in their own sphere of influence to better their environments. It starts with us fixing ourselves. |
I think the bigger question is the "WHO" of the amnesty. Who is being granted amnesty and who would recieve it. I perceive Boko Haram as an organization run from outside the shores of this country. It is not by coincidence that there is a sudden gush of Islamic militants appearing around the Sahara about the same time that Boko Haram appeared in Nigeria. Are we granting amnesty to malians, Nigeriens and Chadians too? My take is this: The Government, in conjunction with western powers want to weed out the poverty fuelled/induced aspect of Boko Haram. ie making amnesty a more attractive offer for poor youths than joining Boko Haram. After this has been executed, the ideological and political arm which would surely not accept amnesty would be droned out of existence. The US already has a drone base stationed in NIGER. I also believe that the US pretentious squat with Jonathan over the Alams pardon is to give an impression of discord between both parties such that when the drones start hitting, it wouldn't appear like a Christian war with a christian country and a christian president taking it out on muslims. Petty complex, but I believe that is the direction. I am totally against the amnesty as I dont see any reason why a die hard muslim extremist would choose cash from an infidel president over "72 virgins in sun-nah" from Allah. |
Any revolution that starts in Nigeria would end up with Northerners killing Southerners and maybe reprisals! The real revolution we need is a revolution of the mind of the citizens. Any overthrow of government would result in the same kind of people getting back in power or probably worse. Afterall the people in power today were all members of the regular society yesterday. Once again I repeat, the real revolution we need is a revolution of the mind of we the citizens. -We need that guy who would rather buy a 300 million naira flat in Ikoyi to have mind revolution and consider using that money in scooping up large tracts of land and farming cocoa. -We need that guy who keeps waiting on government jobs to have a mind revolution and start thinking entrepreneurship. -We need that student who is planning to cheat his way into university to have a mind revolution and get on his books and understand his subjects. We also need that lecturer to stop selling handouts as a prerequisites to passing his course. -We need that fast food owner who keeps selling spoilt chicken to have mind revolution and start ensuring he serves the best to his customers. -And we need that bus driver to have a mind revolution and start treating his passengers with some level of respect. And the market woman too. And the Bricklayer and the Factory worker. -We need those nairaland e-tribalists to have a mind revolution and gain the understanding that in the real sense of it, there are no tribes, there are just languages and cultures. Its a mind revolution we need. And that revolution starts with you. Ask yourself, what can I do to improve my neighborhood and my country at large. Why is my house so scattered. Why haven't I painted my house in the last 15 years and yet I drink beer every day there is a premier league match? Why do I throw dirt on the streets when I can actually wait and put it in a dustbin? Why do I always falsify figures at the office or laugh and celebrate when others do it? Why is bribery the easiest way out anytime I find a bottleneck? The revolution starts with you. Inside your mind. Then it spreads to the people around you. And then it begins to gather critical mass. And then it spills over and the whole country catches the fever. |
Of course there is panic, in fact there is more than panic, there is palpable paralyzing fear of an imminent collapse. If ACN was that powerful, how come they came third in ONDO, even PDP that they claim the Yorubas don’t like came Second and Labour party largely unknown elsewhere remains First.
Truth is ACN is strong only in Lagos. If you look at the election results from 2011 and more importantly the Ondo results, you'd find that the party does not win resoundingly. The margins are usually slim. That is a pointer to the strength of the party. I keep saying it, the biggest selling paper in Nigeria, Vanguard sells less than 50,000 copies a day. Most voters dont hear all the noise the ACN makes on the pages of the newspapers. Grassroots politics wins elections! |
KingPradas: Another way for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. This guy will monopolise the oil industry. Greedy ManThe man has two legs, two hands and one head. Do you have half head or one leg and hand?? Why is he rich and you poor? If he monopolizes the oil industry, cant you duopolize it? Dont you think the only reason you are not as rich as he is is your mind set? Poverty is a mind set! Dangote sees a problem and asks himself, how can I fix this and make money. Others see a problem and say, why cant government fix this problem! |
ariyebaba: @ papabrowne, kindly drop ur e-mail. i need to contact u ASAP. Thanks !!!Just give me a slight brief on what we would discuss and I'll happily provide my mail. Thanks |
If the power drop would lead to eventual and lasting power supply, then we appreciate your Information, Mr minister. If on the other hand, power supply doesn't improve, can we request sir that you tell your Oga on top to grant Amnesty to PHCN workers so they can stop tormenting us like this. |
Plantain is by far the best. It produces like a goat. You plant one and come back in a year and it has over 20 shoots around it. But in all, you should ask an expert to ascertain the quality of land and what produce is most suitable. Another thing I recommend is pepper. Or better still Fresh vegetables. The turnaround times are lower and the prices are better. What location is your land. I have about 40 plots of 100 x 100 in Edo state. I am looking to scoop up even more.Agriculture is the bomb. |
Raypawer: and ur so excited about the call rate right now in at this level of technological development ba! When other countries are enjoying cheaper call rates, better and quality service, and even cheaper and quality internet service, u dey here d fan ur self with carbon paper say Glo d try...What country is enjoying cheaper call rates. You talk nonsense boi! Be like say you never make call for Europe before. Mobile calls and landline calls are different. Land line calls are cheaper but not mobile. Nigerian call rates are excellent. Majority of my calls are between 3 Naira and 5 Naira per minute. With these new rates, that effectively crashed it by half. I agree we need better quality not necessarily better prices for calls. Prices are not bad. As for Internet, we still have a long way to go both in speed, MB limits and prices. But dem don try for calls. |
luluosas: Nothing is cool about it. In fact, these telcos does not learn from their past mistakes at all, and they have short or blur memory. And so if it lasts for 7 days and is open to all networks how is the network suppose to make money? If they cant pay salaries tommorow you will be the first to crucify them. You guys are always looking for free stuff without considering the consequences. If you don't like the promo, just dont use your bonus. Many others would be very appreciative of the offer. I used to pay up to 40 Naira per minute for calls 3-4 years ago. Since then the price of everything has gone up. Fuel is up by 50%. Bread is up. Garri is up. Pure water sef is now 10 naira. Tom Tom sef has climbed price. Only phone call has fallen from 40 Naira to less than 10 Naira. nd someone is here asking for more! You got to be an oliver! |
Eko Ile: https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/31887_567735126579610_1795444393_n.jpgThanks for showing this one. I mentioned that Its the only nearly completed(still uncompleted) project above the sum I mentioned. And the funny reason it is completed is that Tinubu would soon start collecting tolls on it! He needs the money fast so they hastened it. I'm still waiting for projects above 100 million dollars. The reason I used the 100 million dollars mark is because that is the cost of Ikeja Mall. It was built under 18 months. Getting the money for that wasnt a problem. Same with Oriental II. But for projects that would benefit the majority of Lagosians, nothing! As per the budgets, you forgot to add the regular disbursements from excess crude funds and the local Government accruals as well as the bonds issued. When you collate all of that you'll see where my figure of nearly $30 billion originated from. And once again, I think Fashola is an excellent performer, and I am his biggest fan but his problem is the Business savvy lion of Bourdillion. |
Katsumoto: Your post is based on the position that I am an ACN member and I am not. Who did you issue the challenge to? Everyone or ACN members or posters who think it is a good project? And that exactly is my point. If one of the worst Governor( most villified i Think) in Nigeria could set out to build an airport and complete it on schedule, what excuse would "one of the best" have for not even getting his own out of paper. And if we find ourselves defending him for not having his out of paper after 6 years on the saddle, then it is because of bias. Jonathan is failing on some fronts and is succeeding in many. Fashola has failed on some and is succeeding in many. Bias dictates that we would blind our eyes to Jonathan's successes and magnify his failures, while we blind our eye to Fashola's failures and magnify his successes and vice versa. The big question then becomes: what is the nature of our bias? Ethnic, Political, Classist or mere selectionist? It's sad that we make to compare Jonathan and Fashola. Its like comparing our local League with the world cup or better still comparing Enyimba with Brazil! Makes no sense! Thier job descriptions are miles apart! By the way, I also think ACN is the best alternative to PDP in the south west and in my state. I will not trade Oshiomole for anything. But I will keep supporting Jonathan for making strides in areas others before him absolutely failed- and that's Infrastructure(Power, Roads, Aviation, Rails) and Agriculture! |
Katsumoto: Who is the fool?I love the way you guys ignore real issues and focus on the inane. It says a whole lot. This thread is about a deep sea port and an international airport in Lagos. How that one that concern Alams, I don't know. Where credit is due, I will give Fashola. He is a very excellent administrator and has worked pretty hard to sanitize Lagos. But he is short, and I repeat very short on project delivery. A lot of the projects he started have all fallen short of the completion date with most of them achieving less than 25% on the projected delivery date. I have challenged you all on this thread to show me just one Project in Lagos above the sum of 100 Million Dollars that has been completed. Just one!! Uduaghan started his airport at the same time Fashola announced his own. Uduaghan's airport has been operational for almost 2 years now, Fashola's own is still on paper. If you would defend that, then you will defend anything and that displays extreme bias. |
