To think that this is the same road I spent 12+ hrs from Benin to Lagos in 2009. There was hold up in the bush. Wept like a baby. Missed an all important flight. Don't like reliving those times. Nigerians suffered hell on that road!

People that don't live the cities they reside and read newspapers to get propaganda reports only would never understand why people think GEJ has ultra performed. We are experiencing tangible change in this country. In just 2 years the infrastructural transformation is unprecedented.

Pictures of what the road looked like in 2009. Imagine 20km of hold up on both sides of the road.

PoliticsRe: Benin City Reborn! by PapaBrowne(m): 4:40pm On Mar 30, 2013
Oshiomole is doing excellently well in Benin. What impresses me the most is the quality of jobs executed in the state.I wish he had much more money to execute more projects!
Benin is beginning to get its glory back.
Like someone mentioned, the storm water project is just excellent. Puts an end to those incessant flooding taking place every now and then!

I wish Oshiomole could harness capital from the large trove of Benin's in diaspora and use to fasten the states development. The state currently receives the highest amount per capita in diaspora remittances in Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Northern Elders To Jonathan: Get Ready For A Unified North In 2015 by PapaBrowne(m):
Donmams: So there are fools who still believe the current BH is a creation of the north? Why would northerners create a monster that will destroy their region thus making it possible for the retardeen to rig the 2015 elections in the north? Do you people really think we're that dumb? GEJ is boko haram. And he'll be headed straight to jail in 2015.
Because the extreme form of the religion they practice encourages it. They are doing it in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and a good number of other Muslim countries. Only fools would believe otherwise.

Now the big question for you is: Why would northerners be asking Amnesty for Boko Haram when they believe it is a creation of some fifth columnists?? If you grant the amnesty, since the purpose as you claim is to destroy the region, how on earth is amnesty going to stop the destroyers?? You guys seriously are living in absolute denial. The earlier you face realities the better it is.

Instead of waiting for a northern president to fix the north, why not tell your governors to fix thier states.

In the south, it is state Governors Like Akpabio, Oshiomole, Fashola, Chime, Okorocha and the likes that are transforming their states. Having the Presidency hasnt improved the fortunes of Bayelsa state at all. Why cant Northern Governors perform?
PoliticsRe: Osun And Enugu. A Tale Of 2 States. by PapaBrowne(m): 9:48am On Mar 29, 2013
You guys are absolutely shameless sha.

I visited Enugu for the first time 3 weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of that city. Only Abuja and Calalbar can boast of that quality.
I have also been in all the western states. Schooled in OAU,Ife briefly. My conclusion: you wonder why the west had no improvements since the days of Awo. Osogbo, Ogbomosho, Ile Ife, Abeokuta, and the worse of them all, Ado Ekiti are all very brown roofed towns with no improvements since 1960's.

And to make a better comparison, Enugu Airport carries more passengers every year than all the 5 south west states put together!

PoliticsRe: The African Economic Revolution by PapaBrowne(m): 10:21pm On Mar 28, 2013
HNosegbe: ^^^
Seconded. What we have is a consumer boom, not an industrial revolution... The litmus test should be what percentage of consumed goods/services that are produced locally.

How many locally-produced goods can be found in Shoprite, for instance?
An industrial revolution is not compulsory in a knowledge economy! Africa is leapfrogging the Industrial revolution and bolting straight into the knowledge revolution! To employ our hordes of young people, we would use our huge fertile land resources to feed the world! Its that simple. Afterall, we currently possess 60% of the world's unutilized arable land!

A consumer boom almost always leads to an industrial boom as even the companies producing the goods would sooner or later see the wisdom in locating in Africa and from there transfer of technology takes place.

Incase you think there are no industries spring up, check Dangote. A decade ago he was a cement importer! Today he has factories all over Africa. Trust me, there are many Dangotes in the making all over the continent!

PoliticsRe: APC Will Eradicate Boko-Haram In A Month - Akande by PapaBrowne(m): 5:51pm On Mar 28, 2013
Of Course if Buhari is made president of Nigeria, Boko Haram will vanish in a second. It wouldn't take one month. It will be instant.
It simply shows that the only reason Boko Haram exists is to get the Hausas back in power. And Akanded has just proven that the APC is behind Boko Harm.
If you can speak with all certainty that the APC will acomplish in 1 month, what the USA has tried forever in Afghanistan and Iraq for 10 years, then the only conclusion would be that Boko Haram is an APC organisation and all they would have top do would be to tell their boys to lay their arms down!

OsunOriginal: You are not making sense at all. Read what you wrote again.

Bombing mosques will only divide the north, it wont achieve a much larger objective of north/south division. Victims will always get sympathy.

You get this?
Obviously, you are living in denial.

Until you guys begin to face the truth and deliver Moderate Islam from the hands of extremist Islam, you all would go extinct. Your children would ask questions like: Why are other religions peaceful while ours is filled with so much violence accross the globe?
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: An Agenda Against The North, Hausa/fulani And Islam By Aminu Sarki by PapaBrowne(m): 12:31pm On Mar 27, 2013
My response is in 3 questions??

1.What incentive does a christian get for suicide bombinghuh
Monetary incentive?? What currency would he be able to spend on the other side?? The last I checked there is a credible incentive for Muslim suicide bombers, there is none for Christians. Suicide bombers who die fighting for allah end up in Jannah with the widely reported 72 Virgins. Christian suicide bombers or murderers of any type end up in hell. So whats the incentive for a Christian Suicide bomber?

2. Why is it muslims always asking for Amnesty for Boko Haram?
If this truly reflects the thinking of the writer, why then should the writer also demand amnesty since he believes that the perpetuators of this act are Christians?

3) Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria. All the suicide bombings going on in these countries are perpetuated by Christians too?? The last I checked, the same characteristics employed by the bombers in Nigeria are the same used in those countries!!

The problem would continue as long as you guys keep deceiving yourselves. In the Arab world, they claim America and Isreal are responsible for all their problems. In Nigeria the claim now is that Christians are responsible.
The sad thing is that the North is destroying itself with all this. The Northern leaders foolishly assume that Aso Rock is the only way they can change their fortunes. Yar Adua's 3 years, Abacha's 5 years, Babangida's 8 years, Buhari,Shagari, Abdulsalami et al didn't change thier fortunes. Neither did OBJ change the fortunes of the West and Jonathan is doing more for other regions than he is doing for South South.

Southern Nigeria is becoming more like Brazil, India, Turkey, Mexico, Indonesia and other emerging markets. Northern Nigeria is becoming more like Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the likes. Sad commentary on reality!

You're sad.
Sad how?? I like that if anything goes viral, it has to be factual!! Not falsehood.

The car in question given to Tuface was a Chevy Corvette not a Ferrari. For 47 Million naira, you would buy 7 brand new Chevy Corvettes.
Now I don't subscribe to the splurging going on by Government officials, but I think we should also be responsible enough to use facts and not fiction especially when spreading stories. Anybody can say anything about you, true or false and it goes viral and you have no way to defend yourself. In all the pictures I sighted in 2face's wedding in Dubai, I didnt see David Mark in any of the pictures, so why should I just believe that David Mark bought this for 2face because I read it online?

There is a sudden ramp up of intense violence in the country.
These things are not coincidental. They are orchestrated by people who seek to frustrate our future for their own political gain.

While I think the government is doing poorly with regards to security, I think we the citizens are not helping matters at all when we detach certain responsibilities from ourselves. We think its governments responsibility to protect us. Well maybe, but not exactly. We have a responsibility as well.

Cursing the government is foolishness. Demanding that the government functions is wisdom!!

Whats the use of the news, if the most exciting factor(the money paid) is totally missing?

Happy for Lagbaja though! One very respectable musician!!

I took interest in the first place because you had a well laid out plan, with the exact components and figures you needed. Thats very important. The business you've opted is and the interest you offer are not something that would naturally interest me, but the desire to see you make progress is definitely the interest of many on here.

I didn't say you should snap your area where you live. I said snap the potential spots you would like to operate from. Thats an easy task. I believe it would motivate people to get involved.

WOW!! A legend has passed! He left us with footprints cast in Rocks!

Chinua Achebe came into my consciousness as a child in Primary 2 during the period they were showing Things Fall Apart on TV.
I had no Idea how large he was until I traveled out of the country. I had a girlfriend that was half Russian, half Indian and resided in the USA. All she knew about Nigeria came from Chinua Achebe's lens through his books. Her Adoration for him gave me a new perspective of a man I never had much regard for. His books were used in classrooms across the globe to teach African Literature. Through this, my respect and regard for Achebe grew!

But I came to grasp his true impact globally when I read Barack Obama's Dreams of My Father and found Obama corroborate the exact same story my then girlfriend had told me!! Then I concluded: A prophet truly is not honoured at home!! This man is Legendary!! His impact will outlive generations globally!

Rest in peace, my hero, rest in peace!
While things might appear to have fallen apart for those who love and care for you, I know that there is a country where you will be welcomed before the break of dawn and live for time without numbers!!

@Nigerwilde

I said earlier, Attitude is everything! You really do need to work on it.
I can see many folks here on Nairaland who would have jumped on the idea of helping you, but your attitude(a sense of beggarly desperation) isn't helping out. You are working harder to excise pity from potential helpers, than to input confidence in your capacity to successfully run the business and as such the ability to repay the loan!

I think what you need is a grant, not a loan. Oduz has given excellent advice and requirements attached but meeting up is looking pretty hard for you. Most people wouldn't want to give cash, but might be more comfortable getting the various components you'll need.

If other people are will, we can start off by helping you out with the various components you listed.
If you can snap a picture of your potential locations and also provide a link to your facebook page, then I believe that in April you should be in Business!

do you think the market is for average citizen?
Go to 25 state of the federation and sample how many peaple can afford to drink chivita juice let alone champagne.
You think politicians drank 725,000 bottles of champagne and they still have the normalcy to steal your money!! No bro, they'll be dead drunk anytime they go to the vaults.
Its average citizens that do the drinking! Telecom and IT workers, Small business owners,Bankers,Oil & Gas owners and yes Recharge Card Sellers et al! playmode: I know this question has been asked before on Nairaland but in light of recent developments in Aso rock ,i feel it is time that Nigerians know the IQ of this man who has obviously conducted himself over the past 3 years in an extremely ridiculous manner unbecoming of a country's President. In fact i feel all Presidential, Governorship, Senatorial and Local Govt political candidates should all be tested pre-election and their IQ revealed to Nigerians. This "MIGHT" help Nigerians make better choices when voting in the future.

Let us hear your thought on what you think Jonathan Goodluck's IQ is.

I will start the ball rolling.Based on what i seen and heard over the past 3 years about this man i believe his IQ to be 15.
If it takes an IQ of 15 to get to ASO rock, then we should all aspire to 15.
Life is about reaching the summit of your career.

The writer of this article believes that his IQ is higher than that of President Jonathan, but stays here on Nairaland acting a fool while the President moves around the world visiting the most powerful people on the planet! I can comfortable conclude that if the President has an IQ of 15 and has achieved the summit of his career, then he has most likely utilized his 15 points to the optimum best possible.

The starter of this thread on the other hand might actually have an IQ of 150, but sadly 149.9 of those IQ points remain dormant and have been of no use to himself nor the populace at large. He is like a very fertile goat, who has a very huge testis packed with a billion spermatozoa but no manh**d to utilize it. I'd rather be Jonathan, than be you bro. You and your extended family have made little or no impact negative or positive in the world!! You and your IQ have been of no consequence to our existence!!

This country is a crazy country. I have always known that.
My dissertation(project) way back in 2005 was about the underestimation of the Nigerian market and the faulty use of statistics by economic bodies worldwide to downplay the actual size of this massive behemoth called Nigeria.
I remember the look on the faces of my oyinbo professor when I told them that the real size of the Nigerian market and many other emerging markets was lost in the unreported black market which at the time I believed and still believe was and is larger than the open market!!

41 billion naira in Champange! Thats massive for a country we are told 70% live on less than 2 dollars a day!!

Fhemmmy: That is like 10 Billion $$ . . . I honestly wont even make worry about the money/cost as long as we know we are getting reliable trains and not the box that was shown in the pix that i have seen in the other train that was recently done, where people are spending like a day to travel from ONDO - Akure (not too sure of the city oh) to Lagos . . .
But Fhemmy, read that article, look at the figures and rest your optimism. That Lagos Kano line you are referring to had less than 10 Billion Naira($70 million) in budgets and construction costs. That was a basic rehabilitation project of what existed previously. This one stated here has over 100 times that amount in costs so you shouldn't expect the same thing.

Imagine I send you $500 to buy me any car and you come up with a repainted 1985 Chevy Camaro, do I have any right to wonder why you didn't buy a 2010 Camry? Now If I tell you I want to spend $50,000 on a car, now I have the right to demand a Porsche Boxter 2010 even though its used one!!
