I can't define older and younger men because everyone has their own age ranges, however I have heard many women say the bolded.
ok Here is my answer
It depends on what one is seeking after in the older or younger man. If I find a young girl dating his Father's agemate then I know something is def NOT ok. Same applies to the young dude dating his mother's agemate. Sickening to me.
People have this craving they try to fulfill its no wonder they date people outside their age brackets.
Are older men better than young men? Answer lies in your age. |

define old man. At what age does a young man start displaying those qualities? 40'50'60's?
As far as am concerned any man in his twenties still has a lot of things to learn and lots of growing up to do.
I can only take a 30-45 year old man serious cz most seem a bit grounded not playboys with untamed/immature testosterone. |

engineerd: Can someone advice me on how to show a girl you've only known for a week that you really like her! I was successful in getting a date with her, but i want to go for the kill! as in sweep her off her feet, she really gives me the butterflies! Girls are so different but I will try assuming that am the girl. Be as natural as you possibly can. A week is too little to make a major move and the girl knows. Girls love to be taken step by step.Do not rush to say step 2 before you conquer step 1. If you move too fast you may end up crushing her. A much slower pace and you lose her. Therefore be average. Keep it simple by getting to know her better, her likes, dislikes, family, education, blalabla. It proves to her that you have much interest in her. Compliment her as much as possible. No exaggerations for christ's sake! While out dining, touch her lightly and look her in the eye. You will discover she fell in love with you long before you thought of taking her out. |

^^ The living dogs are letting the dead lions (heroes) down. Each time a leader steps on French soil their minds undergo a transformation. Can African leaders be trusted? Are they capable of swearing and sticking by an oath?? Well I got my Loser! His name is Bashir of Ethiopia. The Man has ICC baying for his blood but he lives life like no mans biz! After slaughtering thousands of sudanese and earning a mass murder degree he still walks the earth proudly. What is worse is his present oppression of Juba people. Too busy frustrating S. Sudan efforts to become a strong economy by placing barriers on export of Oil. Now is that a leader with African interest at heart?? |

Those I/We admire seem to have many hidden skeletons. Heroes to the World but Traitors/failures in their own countries and Vice versa.
Who is an African Hero? He who stands up to the West and plunges his country into chaos or is it the one embracing western ideologies and reaping the benefits of such association??
Who do you think is capable of transforming the face of AU thereby making it a force to be reckoned with? We seem to have more talkers than actors its getting tired listening to same old stories.
Who represents African interests the best??
Please don't resurrect the dead heroes.Tell us about the living. |

Interesting. I wonder if we have any African heroes or puppets. Lets just say that Mugabe is a poor example of a leader then, because he doesn't walk the talk? from the comments here. If his words were uttered by another worthy leader (God knows who) we would have backed and supported him. But its Mugabe! |

BlackLibya: Ethiopia, the place every African seems to love to hate. I have never seen more hatred between between people than that the Kenyans have for the ethiopians.
I cannot speak for whether Ethiopians hate Kenyans equally because I have never asked them. However I do know that the mere subject of Ethiopia has sent more than one of my Kenyan friends into a rage. Mhh. I wanna know why and I am going to find out.It could be personal .I know ethiopians love keeping to themselves and have their own way of doing things. Its usually not easy to see them intergrate with other communities or assimillate their cultures. They always create their own 'small ethiopia' everywhere they go. |

ammamat: how will you react to a boyfriend that says he want to marry you but refuse to help you.
Example your rent expired since a month ago, and you have inform him before now, and he promise to assist you, but refuses when the time comes, he rather tell you that he want to give his uncle"s wife a befitting burial first before your rent.
this is what my friend is going through what to do?, first hes under no obligation to sort you financially.no need explaining. I prefer somebody does it willingly and cheerfully without pressure or demand. Did u say ur rent expired? means you'v been renting for a while without his input. So my dear, what happened to the source?? Men too have needs you know and many families count on their men to educate/help the entire village back home.Understand you are not the only important person in a man's life and relax. You know it ok to seek help. I know a guy who once said that not helping his gf makes him feel useless/inadequate, I guess its ok to let him know the pressure BUT do not keep nagging since it only serves to drive him further from you. Ask your friend to look for a place she can afford cz she cant keep relying on a guy for rent each month. Its one thing to own a car and another to maintain it so if she cant afford house rent then shes has no biz renting it!. why do people like stressing themselves!! |

What is wrong with African politics!! we always contradict each other. What seems right in another person's eye is wrong in another. What benefits a majority ends up depriving the minority of their rights. Is there any right action any leader can take? Cant always please the majority. I surrender. |

Justwise if you come across anything paranoid just counter it and educate us. All I know about Nigeria is based on what I read here because it comes from the source. We can't build on anything paranoid. I know Africans love putting blame on the west. But if the so called west exploit us its cz we allowed them to. Our governing systems are weak so why blame the west when we are the architects of our disaster. |

igbo2011: @isala_gan2 But the thing is the america and britain teamed up with france to keep africa down. I am afraid that china and the west MAY team up and that could lead to a genocide of africans.China has done bad things to tibet and the british did a genocide by dehumanizing the native americans. They are already dehumanizing us saying we have no history and are savages. They only portry us badly sso when they do thei evils then it will be justified.
I think that would be the start of world war 3. But the rate at which we are giving up resources I keep asking myself if we are reaping the benefits. Are our people finding jobs and are the living standards of those employed by these foreign companies improving? We have this poverty and a struggling mentality. We embrace hardship and struggle cz we believe its part of life. Why then do Africans rush to marry more wives and bear many children as soon as their wealth increases? The more we earn the more burdens we embrace. We defeat our own selves! That's why I keep saying our mentality is founded on culture. Hard to let go and progress!! I wonder which homegrown system can save us when we are all so culturally different.
We need to trust each other africans need to invest in africa we should do business with each other. Help each other get up. If all of africa united like gaddaffi wanted we would be a top 10 economy. But a nigerian break up would be bad then it is easier to control. America is about to attac0k iran. They can do the same to nigeria. As soon as goodluvk does his own thinng then we can be attacked in the name of humanitarian intervention. Remember the west has no permanetnt friends but permanent interests. They will turn on you very fast. South america is united. We need to unoite under kiswahili so we can face oiur common enemy. South america used to be like africa but they have no more puppets. Chavez morales and correa said no to imperialism. The only anti imperialist we have is mugabe. We also have. A bad military we cannot defend ourselves but south america can
Tribes tribes are progress killer no. one. We want our our tribe to rule,to prosper to own wealth. Its got nothing to do with personal developments but tribal advancements. The day wel start thinking beyond tribes is the day we can confidently talk about a united Africa. Did you say swahili? yes its spoken in EA. It unites the East. Is there a language which unites the west? What about South? Do you believe that a common language will unite us and make us to progress,if the poverty/struggling mentality remains the same? Our Trading rules, policies, laws must be relaxed to make it easier for Africans to trade with one another.Blocs are trying but not enough.

N101: It works where you're from because people still have respect for the rule of law; they know if they break it they will bw punished. Not so in Lagos or Nigeria where people care little for the rule of law.
Look at some of the comments from some of these people in the article, like they don't know what 'reasonable' sound levels are. Or you can't ask a religious place to turn it down or they will persecute you.
Above the noise of the generator I can hear a cacophony of churches. Let me not go into the nonsense some of them say under the guise of being 'in the spirit'. I am a christian but I know what it means to be a nuisance. Its just like stealing office working hours to preach and when you get the sack you claim its persecution. No its stupidity and God approves of your sacking. Why do we blame the spirit for our own foolishness? The same God who commands order and respect? We say yes we must preach in season and out of season but hey, who wants to listen to you when they are hungry or tired and need rest?? There are times Jesus gave people real food not word cz he was in the spirit! And they stuck by him. Nowdays we make more noise and act less. Actions speak more than words and any christian expecting to win souls must make less noise and act more. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why are Africans ignorant abt Africa by pendo89(op): 7:27pm On Feb 01, 2012 |
morpheus24: There is a huge deficit in continental awarness that stems from a lack of incorporating continental subject matters into educational curriculums to develop knowledge of Africans in general which would strengthen ties amongst the populous. Emphasis continues to be put on our differences rather than what we have in common. This fact, coupled with an ongoing country by country struggle of national identity hinders regional and continental integration. This is where I believe the problem lies. I think agree with you.
It is difficult to start from a fresh template of political or economic thought processes when most of your systems and structures have been borrowed or indoctrinated into 1st and 2nd world global systems that have not really taken into account the dynamism of African socio-political issues. We can develop ourselves and indeed we are striving to do so. What we struggle with is the methodology to adopt that will indeed fit in with our social values , structures and complexities.
This is tricky. Some African countries constitutions favour western Ideologies anyway. I think they need to begin there.
Many continue to advocate a complete diassociation from western institutions, western values and western economic models. If we are to follow this path then what alternate models do we build our economic systems on and how do we attempt to integrate these new found models into global structures as it is near impossible to exist without some sort of cooperation with the rest of the planet. We cannot be isolationist in the long term as this will undoubtedlly prove unsustainable.
True. The reason I said my answer is both Yes and No. The only questn in my mind is why the west seems to progress on their own without our input.Aren't we supposed to be independent not dependent. What would we do without the west? nothing except fight? See how we go searching for 'expatriates' to do simple jobs. We allow them to think for us,discover and tap us to enrich themselves. And we remain as poor as ever. Any time you hear a breakthrough on Africa soil, you are bound to smell western influence. Good, but it tells me that we Africans are sleeping.
There are several regional trade blocs that are currently fine tuning custom unions and tarrif free movements of goods and services which are mainly eas Africa's COMESA and southern Afirca's SADC, little can be said about ECOWAS for now. These economic integration policies are sure to boost regional trade and inter Africa trade as well. The stumbling block lies with governments strugglling with natinoal interets over a cohesive regional strucutre that is advantageious to all within that bloc. True. Its happending but its not happening fast enough.
The other school of thought hopes to build on already existing systems borrowed from western societies in terms of laissze affair private owned Capitalist models that feel that government is incapabel of driving efficiency in business and the emrging state capitalit model dominant in the Eastern part of the world that is hybrid of socialist and communist ideologies fused with capital controlled by the state. the idea is to modify these philosophies to fit African contexts. The new information and semantic age we are evolving into requires new thought processes against the old rhetoric of seperate and equalize.
Yes as always Africans love to copy paste. communism and socialism are not ideal in my view. They end up giving rise to dictatorship , something we are too familiar with. African leaders rule goverments the same way they run their own affairs at home. Like you said,a hybrid of socialist and communist ideologies fused with capitalism and modified to fit African contexts may be good.
Am now here thinking how difficult it is to intergrate these ideologies due to our deep cultural systems. They seem to form the core of everything we plan on doing. We build systems that incorporate our cultures. Some of which are enemies to progress. Its no wonder we find it difficult to co exist and instead of an African feeling at home in another african nation they feel like outcasts because the life and systems in place are just cultural based. 'Some cultures' in Africa must be done away with if we are to fit and embrace anything progressive. If not then we have no business trying to fuse anything.
