Isokiscool: Going against zoning arrangements was the reason while Okpebholo won the last election. You see? It’s likely that both PDP and LP refused to adhere to some micro zoning arrangement within the senatorial district which gave the Okpebholo of a guy advantage. I saw your earlier comment analyzing DENCO’s chances with APC ticket and I laughed. You don’t know that the masses like justice? Every Edo person has been made to accept that it’s the turn of the Esan people. So, you would be surprised to see Denco losing even his local government if he ends getting APC ticket. Edo, just like the Igbos, are not tribalists that relegate justice over tribal gain. You will see it. |

garfield1: I think a boy like you needs growing up from his cry cry baby sentiments.i am a political oracle, learn from me. you used this same calculations during the presidential and guber,it failed woefully.the only lp candidate who won guber was otti because he was popular.you don't know politics but just propaganda driven by hate son...
You failed to take note that a lot of Edo voters in the last election were neutrals or new voters not just traditional voters.you failed to take note that so many pdp and apc supporters or voters voted for obi.if we go by traditional voters, most pdp voters are from esan while most APC voters are Edo north and the south is mostly neutrals that is why south gave lp bloc votes....If actually your analogy was right,APC would have taken third just like they did in bayelsa and delta....if Edo people hate APC as you think, they should not vote them at all.i remember you seeing the crowd in auchi and ranting that oshiomhole will lose
That election was about him son that is why all his candidates lost even in Senate and reps.edo voters were more concerned about obi so after voting obi, they should vote pdp in the other polls like we saw in plateau...Edo central has been a traditional pdp zone but they dumped pdp and voted APC senator and reps.that is a very loud and clear message son. Obaseki fought for atiku during the primaries and supported ayu.he said Edo is obidient when hus faction were losing to wike faction in Edo but after that, nothing else.even if he supported obi,at least he should have won nass polls... Look at ayade a useless governor yet he delivered for APC in CRS.obaseki that is better failed woefully.look around,do a small research.have you heard any of those that supported obaseki with his Edo no be Lagos supporting him? They are all disappointed son.apc is taking Edo boy The reason APC won in Cross River is simply because the party was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the State while PDP stupidly damaged their goodwill by going against that arrangement. Had PDP fielded someone from Cross River South like APC, APC wouldn’t have won. Same thing happened in Ebonyi. The reason Nwifuru had it easy was that PDP stupidly allowed her ticket to be hijacked by somebody from Umahi’s village. No Ebonyian was going to vote for him, that’s how Nwifuru won because his candidacy was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the state. You need to always put these dynamics into perspective before you start gloating and making it seem like these APC candidates won because of people’s love for APC. |

But we know Oba funded LP at the State level when he was having issues with the Orbih boys.
That's why I said LP in Edo State dey inside Osadebey Avenue. If Edo was not an off-cycle elections, maybe some traction but now, it will be like Imo. The truth is that I don’t see LP fielding any reasonable candidate in the upcoming election that would challenge Obaseki’s candidate. Like you said, Obaseki funded LP during the last election and I won’t be wrong to think that they are still in Obaseki’s pocket. And this pocketing is with Obi’s endorsement because in the end Obi can’t be going against those he considers allies. If PDP wins Edo, it’s as good as LP winning too. The truth is that it seems there’s a general consensus across party lines that Asue should be the next governor of Edo State. If Asue didn’t get such assurances do you think he would have resigned from Sterling Bank? |

We are on ground, it will take more than intelligence for Okpebholo to be given the flag from Oshos' boy. Like you know, Osho is the people's man so is Denco.
But with Obaseki and Asue? I am ready to go on a bet with you or anybody that Okpebholo will not be Edo State Governor after Obaseki. For one thing in the last presidential election, Obaseki wasn't interested in Atiku and his Ambition and it was in the open. But EPA you see this governorship election?
No go there. Same thing I’m telling him that if there was anybody Obaseki supported during the presidential election, it was Obi. Obaseki was just identifying with Atiku in public for camaraderie. But the guy no dey think. |

garfield1: Okpebholo has no godfather boy,he is a self made man on his own.better support him.did you see how almost the entire APC went against oshiomhole for the first time to support okpebholo? That is the people's choice.that is a man of his own.how many from Dan orbih camp are with unknown ighhodalo? You are still a political toddler
All these so-called vultures helped him in 2020 but now they are vultures because they stood against obi lol? You guys and emotions, politics is beyond emotions son. if obaseki is so smart, why didn't he deliver Edo for atiku or at least give them second position? If the edolites prefer obaseki, why didn't they vote his candidates? Obaseki lost his unit, ward and lga but oshiomhole that is a vulture won the entire Edo north.who is more wanted?
Before obaseki came to pdp,pdp usually win Edo in presidential poll but under obaseki, they are divided and take last.guy, use your head na.keep emotions aside..obi with all his wisdom and popularity cannot even enthrone a gov for anambra.who the hell is obaseki Obaseki lost his unit and ward to who? APC? Obaseki lost to LP because Edo people preferred Obi over Atiku in the last election. So, arithmetically, while APC traditional voters who are mostly from Oshiomole’s Edo North, remained constant, the PDP traditional voters split into LP and PDP. That’s how PDP ended up getting the shortest side of the stick during the presidential election. What happened in Edo during the presidential election was not a verdict on Obaseki. Besides, you cannot be sure that Obaseki was truly with Atiku during the presidential election even though he identified with him publicly. If you claim you know politics like you always claim, then you should have known that Obaseki supported Obi during the presidential election and that’s why most of those who won anything in LP are his men. Asue Ighodalo is the next governor of Edo even if APC fields Jesus. One thing I’ve noticed of you is that you always choose to go with the abstract configuration in your head rather than be practical and pragmatic and allow your assessment of reality be informed by happenings around the environment of concern. Fineman2: I really don't like creating threads that will cause unnecessary fight but I've carefully studied and monitored events in Benue for some time.
What baffles me the most sometimes is the negative comments from some Igbos saying Benue people are reaping what they planted during the civil war because they helped the Nigerian government, it is one nonsense story almost every Igbo person knows.
Firstly, During the Biafra war, Benue and the entire middle belt was under the control of the Nigerian government with military administrators fully in charge, so how do you expect Benue people serving in the army not to fight with the central government.
Secondly, did ojukwo consult Benue people before going into war? Did he mention Benue as part of Biafra during his speech?
Thirdly, why are they so fixated on Benue than the rest of the middle belt?
Lastly, Is General Yakubu Gowon from Benue state? The man that fought against you
The lack of humanity in these people is truly horrifying, the same way they are supporting the massacre of innocent Palestinians in Gaza but they are always quick to report Nigerian military to ICC for trying to weed out IPOB.
During the last election, Benue, plateau and several states in the middle belt supported Mr Obi and the labour party including my family and myself, in Benue APC won with a difference of just 2k votes, maybe through rigging with the help of Akume the current SGF.
We could've supported Tinubu or Atiku, but we didn't because we believe in Obi more than the rest of the candidates.
My Igbos brothers should get that nonsense story off their heads and stop creating more enemies for themselves, you can't be fighting every other tribe and region and then expect them to support you during elections.
They must learn how to build bridges of love.
IPOB has killed more people in south east than Fulani herdsmen in Benue, it's either they sympathize with Benue people or they keep their mouths shut and avoid such threads completely.
For Benue people, I think they should stop supporting south east thinking they are brothers, they should just remain neutral and stick to middle belt region.
We pray for good leaders that will do things right and change the minds of our people, not tribalistic leaders.
Once again, there's freedom of expression in our constitution, so nobody should get mad at me for speaking my mind.
I also expect them to report this thread, but my message would have been passed by then.
Please leave Benue people alone. Next election vote Tinubu or Atiku or Sowore or even Buhari. Nobody is begging you to vote Igbo man. Every little thing, they start talking about voting an Igbo man in election. Vote Tinubu and drink water and rest. By the end of Tinubu’s 8 years, whatever is left of Benue you take am like that. PS712: Enough of all these fears of state governors using their state police to have their way,.. They are almost totally using judiciary and the federal police as well as other security agencies anyway. Insecurity is bringing this nation down to its knees, with state police communities can constitutionally have their say and way (to a large extent) when it comes to securing their territories. But right now, imagine aliens coming into communities with sophisticated weapons and all the communities do is to run away or perish while waiting on federal security agencies that may not turn up or arrive late. Enough of the fears that governors will abuse the opportunity. They will do, but the gains right now outweigh those fears. After all the governors can only constitutionally enjoy maximum 8years, that is all things being equal. Even if they install their stooges to takeover from them, the stooge having gained control may or may not continue to be loyal to the godfather. We need security to be restored ASAP. Else we'll drown. Good points. The gains surely supersede the feared disadvantages. My fear is that I know Nigerian politicians and what they can do. |

RichDaniels: In as much as I agree with you, there's still no basis of logic that your argument makes as to why state police ain't needed. To start with, today the federal police is being used by the federal govt and states to abuse citizens, was it not Wike under Buhari era that took over 100 police officers to reign war on Oyinbo and neighbouring communities it serves, it took the courts to save the people of rivers from the issue. One thing that is certain is that the police, which it's primary duty is to protect lives and properties, has failed woefully in such. In fact, most communities are in dissary because of this vacuum. My point is that we should rather stick to one tyrant than having 36 more mini tyrants. But I agree that due to insecurity, state police has now become an existential necessity. But the law setting it up should try enough to foreclose every loophole that the governors might exploit to turn the police under their commands to their hit men against opposition figures. You should understand what I’m talking about considering who Nigerian politicians are. |

If statute police will protect the lives and properties of an average citizens, then it's welcome. A governor only has a maximum of 8 years in office. The only solution to the problem of insecurity in the country is state police because The governor will have to take full responsibility and not be pushing blame to any one in Abuja. Sometimes when the president is neutral, the governor can’t command even the strand of hair of any police officer during elections. We saw it in Osun. We saw it in Edo.
