The reason APC won in Cross River is simply because the party was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the State while PDP stupidly damaged their goodwill by going against that arrangement.

Had PDP fielded someone from Cross River South like APC, APC wouldn’t have won.

Same thing happened in Ebonyi. The reason Nwifuru had it easy was that PDP stupidly allowed her ticket to be hijacked by somebody from Umahi’s village. No Ebonyian was going to vote for him, that’s how Nwifuru won because his candidacy was the only one that respected the zoning formula of the state.

You need to always put these dynamics into perspective before you start gloating and making it seem like these APC candidates won because of people’s love for APC.

Obaseki lost to LP because Edo people preferred Obi over Atiku in the last election.

So, arithmetically, while APC traditional voters who are mostly from Oshiomole’s Edo North, remained constant, the PDP traditional voters split into LP and PDP. That’s how PDP ended up getting the shortest side of the stick during the presidential election.

What happened in Edo during the presidential election was not a verdict on Obaseki.

Besides, you cannot be sure that Obaseki was truly with Atiku during the presidential election even though he identified with him publicly.

If you claim you know politics like you always claim, then you should have known that Obaseki supported Obi during the presidential election and that’s why most of those who won anything in LP are his men.

Asue Ighodalo is the next governor of Edo even if APC fields Jesus.

I really don't like creating threads that will cause unnecessary fight but I've carefully studied and monitored events in Benue for some time.

What baffles me the most sometimes is the negative comments from some Igbos saying Benue people are reaping what they planted during the civil war because they helped the Nigerian government, it is one nonsense story almost every Igbo person knows.

Firstly, During the Biafra war, Benue and the entire middle belt was under the control of the Nigerian government with military administrators fully in charge, so how do you expect Benue people serving in the army not to fight with the central government.

During the last election, Benue, plateau and several states in the middle belt supported Mr Obi and the labour party including my family and myself, in Benue APC won with a difference of just 2k votes, maybe through rigging with the help of Akume the current SGF.

We could've supported Tinubu or Atiku, but we didn't because we believe in Obi more than the rest of the candidates.

My Igbos brothers should get that nonsense story off their heads and stop creating more enemies for themselves, you can't be fighting every other tribe and region and then expect them to support you during elections.

Enough of all these fears of state governors using their state police to have their way,..
They are almost totally using judiciary and the federal police as well as other security agencies anyway.
Insecurity is bringing this nation down to its knees, with state police communities can constitutionally have their say and way (to a large extent) when it comes to securing their territories. But right now, imagine aliens coming into communities with sophisticated weapons and all the communities do is to run away or perish while waiting on federal security agencies that may not turn up or arrive late. Enough of the fears that governors will abuse the opportunity. They will do, but the gains right now outweigh those fears. After all the governors can only constitutionally enjoy maximum 8years, that is all things being equal. Even if they install their stooges to takeover from them, the stooge having gained control may or may not continue to be loyal to the godfather.
We need security to be restored ASAP. Else we'll drown.

In as much as I agree with you, there's still no basis of logic that your argument makes as to why state police ain't needed. To start with, today the federal police is being used by the federal govt and states to abuse citizens, was it not Wike under Buhari era that took over 100 police officers to reign war on Oyinbo and neighbouring communities it serves, it took the courts to save the people of rivers from the issue. One thing that is certain is that the police, which it's primary duty is to protect lives and properties, has failed woefully in such. In fact, most communities are in dissary because of this vacuum.

My point is that we should rather stick to one tyrant than having 36 more mini tyrants.

But I agree that due to insecurity, state police has now become an existential necessity. But the law setting it up should try enough to foreclose every loophole that the governors might exploit to turn the police under their commands to their hit men against opposition figures.

If statute police will protect the lives and properties of an average citizens, then it's welcome. A governor only has a maximum of 8 years in office. The only solution to the problem of insecurity in the country is state police because The governor will have to take full responsibility and not be pushing blame to any one in Abuja.

Sometimes when the president is neutral, the governor can’t command even the strand of hair of any police officer during elections.
