coogar: i am not speaking for deadbeat dads here. any man in marriage that abandons his wife & kids is worse than an infidel. my focus is on unmarried partners......
When i said baby daddies.. i did not mean men in marriage.. Traditionally if a fathered a child, you were expected to marry the woman
With time n marraiges not being forced, governments did not want to be burdened with the cost of childcare and consequences of peoples sexxual liaisons, they just lumped it on the baby daddy

that led to where we are now

the middle ground here is that women should be made to consider abortion while they still can. if she refuses then she has to bear the costs alone - the man wants nothing from that child, he's become a spërm donor.
Noted...

except that the consequences of sexual indiscretion is now a lucrative business for women. all they have to do is to get pregnant & the cash cow will start coughing up money to fund her lifestyle.
LOL.....
Family › Re: Should Men Be Forced To Pay For Kids They Didn't Want? by pickabeau1: 3:55pm On Jul 05, 2014
As i said earlier...im interested in the societal good
You have great points and it was formed from the injustice meted upon men by women who got the laws too from abandonment by baby daddies

See chain reaction upon reaction

we need to look at a better way.. a middle way that benefits everyone

WOMEN CLOSE YOUR LEGS AND OPEN IT IN A RELATIONSHIP GOING SOMEWHERE
THE CONSEQuENCES OF SEXXUAL INDISCRETIONS ARE NOT EQUAL FOR MEN N WOMEN

coogar: abortion isn't a heart surgery as well.....
there can only be complications when people go to quacks. birthing the child even carries more mortality risk than the abortion proper.

because they know abortion is absolute! there's no failure in it. condom failure in a year stands at 15%. it means 15 condoms will break if 100 men have sex. so should those unlucky men be hooked for 18 years because their condoms broke?

how can you not see the bias here?

Ewuro1: Before you twist this argument to boy vs girl, Please note that the lady is not exempted from this.

But

He has no right to make that call to take a life.
Blame the pro choicers
They thought they won Roe V wade
See wat society has become

The law states that until a child is 24 weeks or so.. those clump of cells are a non person and an alien to the woman
She has the right to eject

CHOICE.. dont be sentimental on this issue
its the consequences we have to bear

teenagers can access abortion pretty easily
Family › Re: Should Men Be Forced To Pay For Kids They Didn't Want? by pickabeau1: 3:44pm On Jul 05, 2014
coogar: a child doesn't just come into the picture. my condom just broke & the deed is already done......

i have no control from that point henceforth. the woman still has plenty of control. morning after pills can still be administered, there are enough injections she could take to get rid even before she misses her next period.

in the eventuality that all these methods fail, there's abortion process. why do women not take these measures? if she carries the baby to term while i have registered my complaints that i ain't ready for the child then she should bear the cost. the man should never ever be forced by the courts to pay a dime on what he didn't want.
ok....u talk as if abortion is just akin to a bandaid on a cut
No problem though... i dont blame u ..na all this pro choice army that have likened it as such

Im looking at it from the angle at what is best for society

im surprised its the so called feminists arguing against abortion however

Babe!.. im enjoying your arguments.. very logical...

These are well worn and well argued positions but dont reflect the issues on ground

A child is in the picture

what should a man do

answer

coogar: so it doesn't have to be right, we should just take the moral grounds because a kid is involved. you are reaching.....

then you shouldn't be on this thread cos the OP is interested in why men are made to pay for a child he didn't want from the outset......

my stance is men should not pay. if an unplanned pregnancy occurs that a man is not interested in participating in, a woman should get rid of it. point - blank - period!

why would any woman want to have a baby with a dude that doesn't want to be a dad? it's unfair to all parties involved including the child. i don’t know how many other women are in the business of forcing parenthood onto men, but it's the most disgusting selfish behaviour on this planet.

women should spare me all this crap that they can't get an abortion. they can! as we speak millions of women are undergoing abirtion process. where were all these morals when they were having irresponsible sex with an unfit partner? all of a sudden she's religious the moment she conceived?

lindee: tnx for your advice dear. i tot you read my post very well. i said my parents and aunt were the ones who kicked against it because he was from imo state. i never did. i loved him. so much. i know virtually every guys cheat, irrespective of his place. i dont really have any p with cheating men. i knew men cheat even befor i met him. all i did was to play my cards very well as a woman, which i neva seized to do even wen he called off the whole thing. my parents were never involved in any of my decisions. they are still not involved in my present decision. so leave my parents out of this.as for me being naive and immature, hmmmmmmm, everyone with him own understanding sha.
since u say u believe men cheat and u claim not be naive then u will not make statememts like u are too nice or good to be dumped
Also look out for one who will not cheat on u so be more patient.. it is stereotypical statements like this that make u choose bad men since u feel u deserve no better.. atleast get a God fearing man who will try to be faithful

You have other wooers.. move on...

Thanks for your understanding... but u still need to learn more
Family › Re: Should Men Be Forced To Pay For Kids They Didn't Want? by pickabeau1: 3:06pm On Jul 05, 2014
Dude... you are barking up the wrong tree
I am not interested in the rightness or wrongness

This was my initial post
hmmm... tough q... but abortion while it can really be convenient and can clear a lot of issues is not as easy as it sounds
It causes untold trauma and can be damaging to the womb

Use protection to avoid problem or better still have sex within a committed relationship or wait till marriage
I am not interested inpower games.. this is a kid we talking about

coogar: it's hilarious this is even up for debate.
what's the percentage of people that are having sex for procreation outside marriage? i am sure it's less than 1%

unmarried people have sex solely for recreation. the difference is that she has control of reproduction, he has none. you seem to think that’s fair. i don’t.

he didn’t cause the condom to break, she didn’t use the pill or an IUD, he and she weren’t married, neither of them wanted to get pregnant, and he has no right over what she does with her body.

and yet you still think it’s perfectly fair for her to choose to have the child against his wishes and force him to support the child in all circumstances?

you are hilarious!

And why you dey cover your face and expose the eye candy own? This is discrimination and inequality against our women. By the way why are the eye candy in skimpy clothes while you are fully dressed? This is what our paper wright feminists should be fighting against and I am with them 100%. This is discrimination in the (work)play place. grin

recreation but there is a potential consequence of that recreational activity
This q only arises as a result of moral decadence

In the old days.. you will wife that girl either as first or second wife

You have ur opinion... i also have mine

lets agree to disagree
coogar: i will just pretend i didn't read this comment - especially coming from you. are you kidding me? sex between unmarried people is almost always for recreation not procreation - don't mix the two together. just like a man ought to have protected himself, a woman should protect herself too from any accident.

if the precautions fail......then they have to unanimously get the same verdict: keep the baby or abort it there should never be one saying yes & the other saying no. just like i have no say in what a woman does with her body, she shouldn't have any say to what i do with my wallet. it goes both ways.

a man should not be forced to pay any dime to a baby he never wanted in the first place. there's no accidental pregnancy - only a foolish man would believe such nonsense - women who get pregnant & see the baby to term had it premeditatedly planned out.

ok.. however as I stated earlier.. birth control does fail too and has physiological effects on the womans body

That is why my default position is protection

I think we r agreed now
Oga mi, I already said it's best handled before it gets to the abortion phase. To the best of my knowledge, you have about 48hours or more after copulation to render sperm cells ineffective. Why, during this period would the woman in question not do the needful? It's not like conception occurs immediately after ejaculatiion.

Per abortion, to each their own, if it's got to that point it's probably because;
(a) Contraception has failed even though applied
(b) She has chosen to have that child.

If a, the guy could be forced/mandated to since, it's unwanted by both and it would be unfair for one party to be saddled with cleaning up the mess of both parties.
If b, then she shouldn't expect sympathy from the guy.

In both cases, still, the guy's got seed round, it would be irresponsible to neglect that. But then there's more leeway in scenario b. smiley
