Jonathan Meets Northern Elders 31 May 2012 Font Size: a / A N2205212-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg - N2205212-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg President Goodluck Jonathan President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday met with the Northern Elders Forum which brought recommendations on how to improve security and ensure peaceful coexistence among its various components in the country. After the recommendations were handed over to him, Jonathan promised to study it so that within a week or two, he would call them back to discuss the issues contained in the document and the way forward. The meeting which held at the conference room of the First Lady was led by Alhaji Maitama Sule and Paul Unongo, and also had in attendance, Ango Abdullahi, General Ishaya Bamaiyi, Pauline Tallen, and Reverend Pam and Alhaji Shehu Malami, among others. The meeting which started about 8.40pm rose about 10.05pm and Ango Abdullahi, had told the press that part of the recommendations was for the government to go back to panels set up to probe riots in the north whether religious or communal and bring those indicted to book among others http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/jonathan-meets-northern-elders/116984/ |
Nice one. |
fesse: It may sound well to some people......creating more states-fine; but what is the health status of the existing ones? And again it will cause more conflicts, blood-shed, hatred, communal wars, and lot more crimes. With the state of the nation at hand, it makes no sense to me and sounds silly.Anioma is very viable! |
Demdem: Am only interested in the Elitist u claimed motivated the protest. Who exactly are they?Whichever elite - the students, ex-students, politicians, etc. Anyone that tickles your fancy! |
Demdem: Not neccessary, probably a new set of "cabal" or ACN or OPC or even MEND etcI don't get what you are driving at? Must I link it to ACN to make it more plausible? In which way is rag-tag OPC, or MEND elitist? |
When morons and rascals become state governor, what more can one expect. Aregberascal's suggestion is as stoopid as the the guy looks! |
Demdem: Nop, u said the protest is Elitist motivated. am interested in knowing the elites that motivated the protest as suggested by you not what u wrote up thereMeaning I should mention names? |
Demdem: Expatiate pleaseWhat is there to expatiate? How does renaming the school to honour (even though I think UniLag is bigger than MKO) the man affect the quality of education or the worth of the certificate in Unilag? If it does not, does it then not imply that it is simply a storm in a tea-cup? |
I support the creation of more states leading to equalization of states in the Zones. I agree Anioma State should be created for the SE. |
I see no point going back in any case. Still prefer Unilag to MAUlag though, but I agree the protest is elitist motivated. |
Energy saving bulb is a step in the right direction. |
I hope this is not coming from the 'progressive' A.C.N? |
philip0906: d reason y d name change is being rejected by d students is simply b'cos- e no sweet 4 mouth.Moshod Abiola University,Lagos aka MAU. Very Local nameMy guy, I agree with you. It sounds more like Moshood Abiola Islamic University of Nigeria. Not cool or sexy at all! Now I can imagine their indignation; I would protest wildly too if I were in their shoes. |
Na wa ooo. Really thought MKO was revered in Yorubaland. Some of these comments are interesting, and some totally disappointing. |
If the new name 'sticks', in the long run people will forget the old name and eventually get use to it as MKO Abiola University. But what the heck is that? Let the legacy live, leave it be University of Lagos, Akoka! |
Onlytruth: I was reading an interview by Chiwetel Ejiofor about how he comes to Nigeria. His father died in a car crash when he was just 11 years.I can only imagine what Chiwetel Ejiofor passes through each time he visits his ancestral land. Now factor that for every Igbo sons and Daughter who have to fly in from other part of the world to visit the land's of the ancestors for business or pleasure. The inconvenience is better imagined. The need for these airports are a matter of both strategic national economic and security interest . Failure of Government to provide this basic amenity for the teeming population of SE is one the main cause of urban migration, and pressure on available resource. It accounts for reason why Lagos congested among other; it account also for reason why Nigeria is lagging behind in Millennium Development Goals. Keeping a huge swath of the economically vibrant population with fewer economic infrastructure is detrimental to long term objective of vibrant economy. Airports and Seaport are long overdue for the SE Economic Zone. |
Decrees are just what they are - whims and caprices of some power drunk men. Which means, the fellow who issues a degree can effectively abrogate such degree if it is evident that it may not be favourable to his intended design. To hinge your hope on a decree issued by a man who will not honour an agreement, is not in my opinion, pragmatic. Decree 9, 10, or 11 can effectively erode the supposed benefit of decree 8. People should not be rule by decree, not matter how 'well-meaning' they might initially sound. |

Gbawe: My brother, are you for real? What are you mentioning Tinubu for? Do you ever see Britons mentioning Tony Blair today regarding anything David Cameron is doing wrong? Is Tinubu the President of Nigeria? What executive power does Tinubu have to deliver the Nigeria me and you want?Said the snake, about a cobra! Bloody hypocrite! |

Beaf: Ayam also in fervent prayer for broda jmaine to be relentlessly pursued, hallowed and counterfeited by the baying mobs, howling clowns and bow-legged one-eyed winshes!I fear those winshes oo. Especially those with dog-like faces are decorated wickedly with baboon marks. Those ones are blood suckers! ![]() Anyway, I agree with you bros jmaine is long overdue for induction into the Nairaland hall of legends. Those winshes are RAZISTS they are bloody RAZISTS!I can't imagine why they are too slow to do bros Jmaine the honors. It is my fervent wish that he is quickly inducted into this exclusive club of Nairaland immortals. ![]() |

On the lighter note, my profile has indeed risen to the extent that some people cannot get enough of me. To flll the void, they have cloned me. Aint I the bomb? ![]() PointB |
ndu_chucks: Why must you people drag my screen name ndu_chucks in your foolery? Stop insulting nairalanders by implying that they are a stu.pid and senseless lot. If you, dullard, can reach an "informed" conclusion about ndu_chucks, then most nairalanders can do the same. In case you do not know, "Chuck" is the nickname for Charles while "Chuk" is that of Chukwuma for example. You are too stu.pid to know how to spell, let alone lead NL Ndigbo in anything. olodoSilly and lame attempt at misdirection. What happened to the 'Ndu' part of your moniker. I am quite sure you will find a way to twist it to some aboki related name. In any case, I won't do a disservice to this thread by engaging you here. So take this as my last reply to you here. |
OkparaIgbo: Any one that is still going on about the nonsense spewed by the Imbecilic guy that thinks a part of Igbo is more revered to another must be on some kind of drugs or have a little undetected issue. from the response of the Igbo people to the Igbo wannabe it is clear the we Proud Igbos refute any claim that any Igbo part is more Igbo than the others, so lets drop that crap and stop making reference to it. By the way I have my suspicions that the guy/gurl that wrote that is Yoruba.May you live long my brother! |
Candyrain: And moreover, the Igbo president will have to be proper Igbo not Imo or Abia.. Anambra or no place else..That comment was made by a non-Igbo to create strive and division. Please ignore the comment and the poster - okija whatever! |
@Okija, I no longer care what you think or say. Igbos will follow the lead of Ohaneze, not pretenders or interlopers. Case closed! |
bestview: Nwanne mu ekwelum ife ikwulu. DaluDalu nwanne, otua ko kwesili idi. Ofu obi! |
bestview: I believe you will do well to stop mentioning such talkative as Rochas who has not disappointed imo people that he is a real talking drum. We have people as Peter Obi, he is a quiet revolutionist, FG knows his worth that is why he was appointed into the economic team of the present federal govt. The governance is not only tarring few KM of raods only in urban center, but embracing all sectors of the economy and area of the state. Creating employment thru creating enabling and peaceful environment for investors to troop in. Obi has attracted big multinational investors to Anambra far above any other state in the Southern Nigeria apart from lagos. Such caliber of people deserves to run the economy of this country.Fair enough and let's leave it like that. Whoever is nominated by Ohaneze is the one I will campaign for. My personal preference for those who have structure and are popular across Nigeria is what it is - personal preference. But for greater good you and I should drop that preference for whoever Ohaneze chooses. Deal, brother? |
bestview: Soludo (PDP) and Ngige (but not under Yoruba ACN)You will do well to stop this trash! It is not about anambra or imo state, it is about Nigeria president of Igbo extraction. If and when Ohaneze nominate and individual, every other personal preference is immaterial. Currently Chime and Rochas are the front runner as far as platform ownership is concern. Soludo comes a distant third. And Nigige romance with AC.N does not place him in good position. Or you think AC.N will allow him ran as their presidential flag bearer. The earlier you and your okija lots drop your pettiness and look at the bigger picture, the better for all of us. |
^^^ That fixes it! Thank you Eze OnlyTruth, Ndu_chuck is another of such character deceiving none discerning Nairalanders that he is Igbo. His time too will come. |
