Omexonomy: assumming you are right what concern gej in all this when he is not the speaker of the house neither is he an executive in the governors cabinetWielding the enormous powers and influence at his disposal,he could get members of those states' Sec to do the right thing by starting the process. He is the Commander in Chief and he did swear to uphold the Constitution, same as they did.He has the powers to compel them to uphold their oaths. Again, they are mostly his party men and being the leader of the party confers such responsibility on him to ensure his party men don't bend/break the law. |
take dat: Don't get it wrong, the onus is not on the state assemblies to start an impeachment process. It starts with the state executive who will constitute a medical panel to verify the governor's state of health but where the problem lies is; the medical team will most likely consist of the governors personal physician, the state commissioner of health he appointed and some other sympathisers of the hailing governors. It will be difficult to ascertain the true state because their report of these loyalists will be in favour of the governor just like the Yaradua scenario. It is only the intervention of the President, whom without minding whose ox is gored that can help salvage the situation. It is the Speaker of the House that actually sets up the panel, acting on a resolution/address of the State Executive Council, but since we all know that Council members were appointed by the Governor it is difficult for them to go against their principal by initiating such move. Also, many Council members, taking their cue from the Governor, look down on the Deputy Governor and since the DG will be the direct beneficiary of such removal on health grounds of the Governor,it's hard to see any executive council member initiating/pushing the process. That's akin to political suicide, regardless of whether it's the right thing to do. |
A wishlist, morelike. The prophecies I read in the Bible come with high degrees of certainty,a feature missing in this list. What happened to 'Thus saith the LORD........................'? |
@OP I think u should abstain a bit from that thing u are taking.Seems its making u experience life in an alternate universe. Where is that ur area that is experiencing power supply for 50 consecutive hours, when other areas have not had light in 2,3 days?.The best we had was 5 intermittent hours of light on Boxing day. There's been no light here since last evening,e'en as I type this. |
Most times I refrain from commenting on threads here in nairaland cos loonies have long since taken control of the institution, but I do feel this misconception of what constituency allowance is firms up in the minds of the ignorant. CONSTITUENCY ALLOWANCE refers to constitutionally appropriated funds meant for the staffing and running of a legislator's office in the constituency he/she represents. This is a widely accepted norm world over,Nigerian legislators being no exception.Of course,in our own case some legislators might have cut corners viz understaffing their office, renting a substandard office and whatnot, but that doesn't mean the money is made available for their personal use and the executive certainly have no powers to grant or withhold such funds. Coming to the issue of CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS,these are localised projects which legislators put into the annual budgets for their various constituencies to make them feel the impact/presence of the Federal govt in those constituencies. They are known as 'Pork' projects in the United States. As I understand it,during the Obasanjo administration the monies were given to the various legislators to go execute the projects on their own,but that practice was stopped by Yar'Adua. Those projects are now captured in the budget and executed by relevant govt ministry or agency. To sum up this epistle, constituency allowance is backed by law, meant for the running of a legislator's office while constituency projects, tho they may be backed by law,are meant to show the presence of the fg in various constituencies.Properly executed, they even make the govt (read executive ) look good in the eyes of the electorate |
Chrissakes Nairaland!.When did it become fashionable to let inmates have the run of the institution?. Mods, enough of this nonsense.Please. |
My side (Igando area),we hardly get up to 3hrs of light cumulatively in a day |
Clusterfvck |
If the EFCC knew this guy's history since 2010,how come he got license to import fuel and claim subsidy? |
A derelict mortar,a rotten palmnut |
Let's see if i got this right.Somebody has been arrested,we as yet don't know/can't confirm his identity, but we ran to the media with the story that he is Abu Qaqa under the cover of anonymous security source. The gullible media runs with the story unchecked, and we are seen and hailed as doing our job efficiently. Anyone who believes this crap of a story,i got a barrel of blue butter to see u. |
Tales by Moonlight. |
If indeed Wada was 'sworn' in by the Customary Appeal court president instead of the state Chief Judge, then his oath is a nullity from the get go as the Constitution specifies that only the CJ or Acting CJ,at the federal and state level, has the legal authority to swear in the head of the executive. |
Eedjit!.Obi's tenure was not elongated, the Supreme Court correctly interpreted that his tenure starts from the day he took the oath of office, same interpretation they gave today. |
, and they arrested one of his sons.My question is this, how old is the son arrested if the man was aged thirty. Also, what happened to those gang members allegedly meeting at his place?.They all melted away in such manner that only the man and his pregnant wife were killed after over 4hours of gunbattle and none, bar his son was arrested?.I smell a fish here and it stinks |
KnowAll:Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Senate President can only be President in acting capacity for only 3 months pending the election of a new President were the current President and VP impeached.Educate yourself well before you post such rubbish, |
Also, serious questions need be asked about crude allocations to NNPC for local refining. If a part or all of that allocation was being sold at international market price, what happened to the money?.Is it being remitted to the Federation account?. Questions, questions, questions.Somebody better have answers o. |
Boy,i just did the calculations on my own and it turns out Bakare is right.Even assuming 1.3trn was the total subsidy payout for last year, there's still a discrepancy of about 400billion.What the heck is going on?.Where is our money going to? |
Still waiting for links,or is this another round of beer-parlour gossip by NL ne'er do-wells? |
mikeansy:And how do u know he would not support restructuring?.Have u read his party's manifesto,or u are just blowing hot air? |
Son of nama, grasping at straws. |
I think we've seen this movie before.Previous administrations made same address. The only tweak i see is the 25% cut in basic salaries for the year 2012.No talk of reduction in the outrageous allowances they collect. Hmm,the interesting times continue. |
Why is 'Some' still walking free?.Why has he not been arrested and charged to court for economic sabotage?.Is he also as powerful as messiers 'Cabal' and 'BH sponsors' whom 'we' know, but can't do anything about?. Utter nonsense.Goebbels taught them better. |
bjdon:Dude,u should really get off that shyte u are smoking.Ending govt regulation of the downstream sector(i don't believe there ever was true subsidy regime) will simply leave the citizenry at the mercy of sharks who can fleece us anyhow they want. The only reasonable solution has always been local refining of the petroleum products we consume, not importation. GEJ should first fix our refineries or sell them to competent firms before throwing us to the wolves |
Evil Brain:Seems u can't recognize sarcasm when it stares u in the face,mate. |
Welcome to 'Fresh Air 2012'. For those that voted Jonathan and not PDP,may u live in interesting times. |
An UNNAMED judge presiding over an UNNAMED court, handing out judgements dictated by BH in UNNAMED cases, the story leaked or whatever to the SUN by an UNNAMED source. Tsk,tsk, tsk, tis true majority of Nigerians are f.ools, but really do they think that true of all us? |
I nominate ONLYTRUTH for the post |
I believe he mentioned Sen.Ali Ndume and Late Amb.Pinder, both ranking members of the PDP. |
ndu_chucks:I respond to your diatribe only so the poster here can learn that which he does not know.Your entire arguement is based on what u think should be especially as it concerns Ajimobi/Akala tussle, not what the Constitution says. Section 28 CFRN,lays down the entire steps to be taken in renounciation of Nigerian citizenship, its there in a concise, non ambiguos language.Section 29,also in a clear language lays down the class of citizens to which section 28 applies. The combined effects of both sections makes it clear that a Nigerian citizen by birth CANNOT lose his citizenship status, either by renounciation or forfeiture. Assuming without conceding that he can renounce, the process to take are clearly enunciated in section 28.Any step extraneous to what is contained therein renders the process a nullity. Dude,we've already treated this issue comprehensively on another thread with legal precedents and authorities up to the Court of Appeal cited in decided cases since 2004,so give up this your day-dream of Akala coming back to power through some sort of new interpretation of Ajimobi's citizenship status,it aint gonna happen. |
sunnshyn:AMEN! VoodooDoll:AMEN & AMEN!! God bless you both, there's nothing more to add to such prayers. |
