First of all, politics is the only influence that matters.

Subsequently, assuming you're igbo, whats the point of being influential if the only influence you have is negative? Igbos arent known for the little victories they inflate and brag about, around the world nigerians are frowned upon as criminals and crooks. No one meets a nigerian in any foreign country and thinks good about him immediately. This is all your fault, its your doing. You are known for drug dealing, fraud and every other form of lowlife activities. And you go about beating your chest like the gorillas you are about how great you are just shut the f--k up!

You are unpatriotic, arrogant, foolish, myopic and single handedly ruined this country. I yearn for the day somebody will chase you monkeys back to your forests and give you your independence, lets see how long you will last before you implode. Apologies to the very few intelligent and humble igbos, but most of you lot are repulsive and truly ignorant.
Being Igbo or not Igbo is nothing to do with it. I'm just a typical southerner looking down on northern politics and society.

As the title says, what's the most urban-sounding/upmarket vs. the most unrefined, rural-sounding dialect in your native tongue?

For me, Igbo - Onitsha (classiest), Nsukka/Ebonyi (bushiest). I no sabi which one is bushier between the Izzi-Ezza cluster of Ebonyi and the Waawa of rural Enugu. They both sound horrible and both are equally unintelligible to mainstream Igboland.

Hey probz, what's the status of Igbo language classes in states like Delta and Rivers states? Is it widely taught there like in schools in the 5 SE states?
I honestly wish I could answer that question but I actually don't know. I know a lot of Nigerian languages are taught all over the country so you'd expect Igbo language education in states where native Igbos can be found in bulk to be on at least a similar footing to the core SE states. I dunno though

WHAT NRI IS SIMILAR TO IS THE RECENTLY DISCOVERED KOMA PEOPLE ISOLATED IN ADAMAWA.

IF KOMA LAND IS EXCAVATED, YOU MIGHT FIND INTRICATELY FINISHED BRONZE ART TOGETHER WITH ITEMS FROM EGYPT. WOULD YOU SAY THOSE ART WORKS WERE PRODUCED BY THE KOMA CULTURE?. THAT IS HOW YOU LOOK WHEN YOU SAY NRI CULTURE PRODUCED THOSE IGBO UKWU BRONZE JUST BECAUSE IT WAS FOUND IN ANAMBRA!. PLS GO AND SIT DOWN!.
That I should go and sit down? Did your mama not teach you to respect your elders?

YOUR POSITION IS NOT ACADEMIC. WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU HAVE THAT NRI IS THE OLDEST? IGBO UKWU? IGBO UKWU IS NOT NRI. IT IS THE BURIED TREASURE OF AN IFE PALACE PROBABLY A ROYAL ESCAPING AN INVASION. THAT WOULD BE IFE IGALA NOT NRI!. IGBO UKWU MEANS THE FOREST OF DEATH IN YORUBA, I WANT TO BELIEVE THAT AREA WAS YORUBOID SPEAKING IN THE PAST. WHAT DOES IGBO UKWU MEAN IN IGBO? THAT SOME SPEAK IGBO TODAY DONT MEAN THEIR ANCESTORS DID. IN THAT IGBO UKWU WERE FOUND ITEMS FROM EGYPT, SO CAN YOU SAY NRI IGBOS MADE THOSE ITEMS? IN THESAME WAY, NRI IGBOS DID NOT MAKE THOSE BRONZE ARTWORKS!.

THEN NRI IGBO, BENIN, ILE IFE IN OSUN, IJESA, IJEBU, OYO ETC IN ARE ALL NEW. HOW CAN YOU SAY SOMETHING NOT UP TO 2000 YEARS GAVE BIRTH TO YORUBA? THAT IS JUST SHORT OF STUPID!. WHAT ABOUT NOK CULTURE? OF OVER 2000 BC?. TRY TO MAKE YOUR STATEMENTS AS ACADEMIC AS POSSIBLE PLEASE. IT IS VERY CHILDLIKE TO BE SAYING SOMETHING OF 2000 YEARS AGO GAVE BIRTH TO YORUBAS OR EVEN IGBOS!. THE IFE CIVILIZATION OF YORUBAS WAS ESTABLISHED AFTER AN ADVANCED CIVILIZATION WAS DESTROYED ON EARTH AND THIS IS YEAR 10059TH SINCE THEN. WE ARE DESCENDANTS OF THE SURVIVORS.

THERE WAS A STOCK OF PEOPLE SAY A AS AT TEN THOUSAND YEARS AGO. THAT STOCK BROKE UP INTO MAYBE 5 GROUPS WHO MIXED WITH DIFFERENT STOCK OF OUTSIDERS FROM OUTER SPACE AND ETC. SO NO GROUP IS THAT ANCIENT STOCK ANYMORE BUT WHICH GROUP IN NIGERIA CARRIED FORWARD THE STORIES AND A SEMBLANCE OF THE ANCIENT CULTURE? THAT IS THE QUESTION YOU NEED TO ASK!. PRESENTLY SOUTH AMERICANS ARE CARRYING FORWARD THAT CULTURE ON EARTH NOW. THEY ARE REPRESENTATIVES OF THOSE ANCIENT PEOPLE.
Your inane ramblings don't render Nri civilisation any less proto or ancient in Nigeria. You're a hardened Yoruba troll so I wouldn't expect you to say anything else. I bet you believe Oduduwa really did fall from the sky.

We speak modern Kemitic Egyptian laced with words from surrounding languages like Igbo, Nupe, Edo and etc. Maybe over 60 percent of our words were used in Kemitic Egypt of 5000 years ago and we construct sentences thesame way. This our language was not spoken here 5000 years ago. I believe it would be a proto Akoko Edo Igbo that was one language. Our own there was Akoko and part of Akoko is Nupoid. It was on the Akoko that Egyptian was superimposed by new arrivals from Egypt. We still have some Akoko. Before Egypt, I would say the Yoruba were proto Nupoid in culture because of royal greetings and festivals in Ife. They probably were not so in language. The Hausa too may have been proto Nupoid in culture even language. The Hausa language too is new and different by having gender. I am still researching.

Igbos are cutoff from Yorubas but still use atupa, agbala, oka, esu as ekwensu and etc. Apparently they branched off and merged with a new group having another language just like the Akokoids merged with Egyptians. Just a weak opinion for now

http://obamaandpeace..nl/2010/03/oduduwa-and-yoruba-revolution-in-world.html?m=1
Some people would say that Yorubas are cut-offs from Igbos since Nri civilisation is the oldest in southern Nigeria. Don't chat.

I'm not saying I don't agree. I just don't think the OP has an Oduduwa agenda and I song think s/he had that in mind when s/he started this thread.

The one about Hausa is the one that dey vex me. We all know that Fulanis and other non-native Hausa speakers are lumped in with Hausa to give them a numerical boost. Outside politics, they're the most useless and least influential tribe in Nigeria. Only good that's ever come from them na suya and kilishi.

Tested and retested until perfection is literally achieved. I shared this coconut rice recipe to all our readers and to those who always like to read about out recipes.

Despite I'm a Male, I consider myself a Protégé when it comes to tutoring on How to prepare dishes, I optimize my recipes for simplicity and incredible depth of flavor. all while producing perfectly cooked separate rice grains.

I already have incredible recipes for Fried Rice, Jollof Rice. This coconut rice recipe should definitely be added to your Fav Note.

Ingredients
*. 2 cups parboiled rice (regular rice)
*. 1 tbspn Coconut oil
*. One 400ml can coconut milk (preferably Thai premium)
*. 1 small onion .
*. 2 medium tomatoes
*. Spices: 2 bay leaves, 1tspn white pepper, 1 tspn minced chili, 4 sprigs fresh thyme (or 1 tspn dried), salt – to taste, 2 heaped tbspns crayfish powder, 1-2 stock cubes (optional)

Direction
*. Finely chop onion – set aside cut tomatoes into large chunks – set aside.
*. Mince chili pepper – set aside .

*. Place a wide cooking pot on medium heat. Add in 1 tbsp of coconut oil (subvegetable oil). Add in onion. Cook untiltranslucent and fragrant.

*. Add in tomato, minced pepper and spices. Stir. Cover and leave to simmer on low-medium heat for 10 minutes.

*. Add in coconut milk and one cup of water into the tomato mix. Stir. Cover and bring to a rolling boil. Stir. Taste and adjust for seasoning. .

*. Add in washed rice. Stir. Reduce heat to low-medium (4 on a marked cooker).

*. Place a sheet of foil over the pot. Place the lid over it and properly seal the edges with foil (this is a very important step).

Set a timer for 30 minutes and let it go! You have done all you can, let Jesus take the wheel here. Leave it alone! Don’t open the pot until time is up.

*. By covering the pot with foil & then a lid, you are able to get away with using less liquid. The rice grains are gently steamed & infused instead of being boiled. End result is perfectly separate & delicious grains.

Serve coconut rice with Peppered meat or chicken

You have to care because 'importing' English words like 'Delta' to describe an indigenous ethnic group anywhere in Africa is not right. Calling someone 'Delta Igbo' is like calling me from Anambra an 'Anambra Igbo'. Makes no sense.
It actually does make sense because Igbos aren't exactly the majority in Delta state, are they? That's why they're called Delta Igbos, because that way everyone knows you're referring to the Igbo-speaking section of Delta state. Ditto for Rivers Igbo.

Me too dey onye Anambra but no one would call people like you and me 'Anambra Igbo' because Anambra's our state through and through, not just one section.

Well, it was first Western Igbo when they were in Western region, then it became Mid western Igbo after the Midwest was created, then Bendel Igbos, when the Midwest was renamed Bendel by Gowon, and now Delta Igbos following the creation of Delta from the old Bendel state.
I'm sure that by the time Anioma state is created, it will become Anioma-Igbos.
They need to be careful carving out Anioma state, though. As I said in the thread I started, my understanding's that Ikas and Ukwuanis are only lumped in with the real Aniomas/Delta Igbos (Enuanis) for political reasons. There's a reason most of the so-called "Igbo" denial comes from that Bendel region.
Politics › Re: Largest Ethnic Group In Southern Nigeria? by Probz(m): 5:13pm On Jan 26, 2017

Not really. Delta Igbo is the wrong way of saying Western Igbo

30 years ago, there was nothing called "Delta Igbo".
I couldn't care less what happened 30 years ago, zendy. "Delta Igbo" or "Western Igbo" can be used to apply to the indigenous Igbos of Delta State, who just happen to be west of the River Niger. The two terms are synonymous and mean exactly the same thing.

What would you call Rivers Igbos specifically without referring to their state?

Interesting. The British regarded all the western Igbos as 'Ika Igbo' its 3 major towns 'Ika Asaba', 'Ika Kwale', 'Ika Agbor'

Funny that today, many now call the 'Delta Igbo' which is wrong.
Delta Igbo and Western Igbo mean exactly the same thing, na?
