lagosrd:Has to start somewhere ok |
SmartyPants:This operation would have degraded the elements around those areas (FCT, Niger and Kaduna) but does that translate to annihilation threats posed around Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and Kebbi states; Borno and Yobe states; Eastern states (unknown gunmen); Plateau, Benue and Taraba states (herdsmen militia attacks) and by extension concluding that insecurity in the entire country has been addressed? Well, we pray and say amen. |
PoliteActivist:Don't mind him/her, it's too much of watching scenes on Nollywood that made it look normal for a police officer to quickly hop into the car of the person he/she is arresting. Shame. |
I believe I am not alone in the hope and prayer that this should be true, that is, that insecurity in the country should end! But then, no human in his senses (I mean one who is driven by reasoning not someone with religious, ideological, political or ethnic bias) will just accept this pronouncement without having questions deep within- Just like that, in one day and at a particular time the minister of Information, ministers in charge of security organizations/agencies in the country, the CDS and heads of the Security agencies gather to announce to the entire country as well as the whole world that the Security challenge the country was facing has been addressed. Particularly from these statements by the Hon. Minister of Information - "... Please don’t misunderstand or misrepresent this assertion because we may still witness isolated cases of security challenges here and there, but it will not be on the scale that we have witnessed in the past, he assured. The minister said the successes recorded were sequel to the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to the military to crush those terrorizing the citizens and there should be no hiding place for them...". Five months before general elections.. Less than nine (9) months before the administration (2 terms) under this regime winds up... Seven(7) years of grappling with this menace of insecurity (having inherited it from previous) but it got heightened and kept the tempo for long... Throughout the seven years of this administration lots of strongly worded directives were given to heads of security organizations to crush the bad elements causing insecurity, especially whenever a big attack was carried out.., and there have been huge budgetary allocations every year just to fight insecurity yet insecurity kept waxing strong... Heads of security agencies were changed more than once or twice in some cases... Then without any other obvious and special act by way of new style of combating these elements who have kidnapped students in Greenfield university, and in several secondary schools; kidnapped residents and Travellers in both North and south; attacked and killed military, police and other security personnel and formations in both North and south; killed both Christian and Muslim worshippers in North and South; rural and urban settlements... etc. Then all of a sudden, we are told via joint press conference it is solved using the same usual approach (of directives to military) that henceforth only cases of isolated attacks will we witness... (instead of Nigerians being the ones to observe that there's improvement in security)... What was done differently because it can't be the same directives that have been issued from day one of the past seven years that solved the problem finally? Whether a paradigm shift in security is observed henceforth or it is not, there will be reactions that will trail this press release because of the gap of what and how differently the matter was addressed? |
Bobloco:Not only that, he went ahead to pick same faith ticket to run with despite diversity. And PGEJ made the statement a day after BAT and his team paid him a visit o, this shows PGEJ isn't hiding his no-support of BAT's ambition. Lol |
Trinitycian:They forgot too quickly how the same party they represent in 2019 held Presidential rally in Kano state with three governors from neighbouring country of Niger not only in attendance but conspicuously too. |
This is sad and should be condemned. Just recently it was alleged in the news that one of the bandits leaders had embraced peace and agreed to a truce that led to ceasefire. Now this. In as much as criminality and extremist ideology are not nipped in the bud but rather allowed to fester or rather treated lightly just to satisfy certain selfish biases the consequences can't be separated far from the gains. This is one sad consequence among many. Sadly this bitter pill is going round.. |
hbk001:Don't mind them. It's only those who emerged out of nowhere into Nigeria that are stateless and they are usually seen in trucks traveling from one particular region of the country into the other. And while in Nigeria they mostly roam the streets and markets,.. Now they are making reference to conventions that are made particularly for those genuinely affected. Shame. |
plaindealer:In Ekiti and Osun states for instance, Peter Obi had nothing so much to do with the elections. All aspirants were people from those states who had their various interests as par candidates and they used their parties as platform, not for their presidential aspirants. In Imo and Ebonyi states, APC can win gubernatorial elections, but does that translate to an APC presidential candidate winning the elections there? And why didn't you tow this line in your first post? You have constantly digressed. Platforms such as this (Nairaland) provide people with opportunity to do lots of things, it's wise to engage and deploy it for intelligent discussions. I thought you'll tow that line but no, you keep presenting yourself in bad light by insisting on the use of phrases like "your deluded minds", "you are delusional.. " bla bla., I thought by now as an intelligent person you will instead of quickly responding to my post, typing meaningless words, you'll verify my claims in response to post you made yourself that graced front page. Kindly note this, I am drawing your attention on this your approach not because it bothers me, but because I am civil, enlightened and is expected of me to school someone where he fails.., after all, I know what I see when in Federal Neuropsychiatry Hospital, and that is the fact that the patients there are first to call workers of the hospital and visitors in the hospital 'Mad people', you read me right, the sick (i.e. mentally ill) patients are the ones calling their caregivers and visitors 'mad people'. So keep referring to me and others who despite presenting their versions and ready with facts as being "delusional", on this public space whoever follows the thread through will read and know between us who is delusional, lol. |
Jaysolu:In reality it could happen in many ways.. Parents who out of too much attachment to their kids who allow them sometimes stay the night on the same bed or in the same room might assume the kids to be fast asleep while doing the do unknown to them that they probably aren't fast asleep. Especially kids of between ages 4 and 7 who are thought to be unaware of what could be happening around. Another one is getting caught right in the act.. Unfortunately planned housing is poor in Nigeria as majority occupy apartments with little or no privacy. The message is to try to ensure none of those happen. |
plaindealer:Firstly, you are bothered about Peter Obi to the point of opening a thread on his matter, despite your ridiculous belief that he is persona non grata in the forthcoming elections, how funny and unfortunate! Obi's popularity is not tied around the political party he is flying under, neither around political associates, it is a movement of people who have chosen to try him out of the other individuals aspiring and this point is always reiterated yet like the ostrich that hides itself from reality by burying its head in the sand you have chosen to believe he can't win because he isn't projected by some cabals called structure. So, remember that we shouldn't digress from post you made yourself, and that is that South East is least in votes so Obi can't win and am here drawing your attention to the fact that votes from elsewhere (mentioned places) will double whatever south east has for him. Call those places I mentioned to you sir. No be to just dey wish say... Just call unbiased minds there and verify. I haven't mentioned Kaduna state where Obi will certainly get close to if not 1 million. And the religious factor that APC carelessly introduced will favour him in mostly northern states where minority ethnic groups that are Christians will align with where their interests are protected, whereas Kwankwaso, Atiku and Tinubu will split votes on that particular factor. |
plaindealer: |
Penguin2:Atiku, Tinubu and Kwankwaso combined won't score 300,000 votes out of expected 2million votes this time around in Plateau State. This is because Obi has taken over. I doubt Obi himself knows how he's now loved by the people in the state. There's no point trying to convince you here, just sample opinions of people you know in Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states. Just call them to give you their honest observations. |
plaindealer:You probably are being mischievous, or choosing to tell yourself a lie, otherwise you are in one location where you have no idea what's happening in larger percentage of the country's political space. Try to call friends you know in other states in other regions, aside where you are. For example, call people in Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states. You'll know Peter Obi's votes from the southeast will only be icing on the cake. Call Kaduna. Call Taraba. You know he wouldn't get less than a million votes in both Lagos and FCT, all of South South (probably excluding Delta) is his. South East is not why he is confident of winning, it is morale booster. Pls engage people in those states and revert. I will be waiting for you here. |
Zonefree:Lwkmd ![]() |
ProfGday:LOL @boldened ![]() |
FreeStuffsNG:OK. You have responded as to how you would have handled it, differently. But if you'd be honest to yourself, you'll know it wouldn't be as direct as you put it, i.e. leaving every of your engagement to attend to sick child. Without defending Ekweremadu, I can assume he did and felt he had everything under control, hence arranging for the donor, travels and made himself available during the procedure, else, he would have still being in Nigeria when Umoh the donor started the drama. If he wasn't there to give support, he couldn't have been caught up in London. You have been active voice here on Nairaland, almost every hour of every day, you know how tedious it's been for you..,how much more one who had immersed himself in politics and governance spanning 2 consecutive decades? I think without bias one can see that as a father Ekweremadu found himself in an unfortunate situation, but as a Nigerian leader who has been close to the top seat he got served bitter pill courtesy his failure and those of his associates like all past, present and some aspiring leaders. |
FreeStuffsNG:The boldened. Having read your earlier post here which you reposted the link, I ask, what would you have done differently if you were in Ekweremadu's shoes? |
divinehand2003:Annoying part is where they said selected communities should make available lands for this purpose. So the land is not yet readily available but billions have since been released by the FG? Everything sucks. |
CoolUsername:There's no need for any correction as our earlier posts categorically stated that Albert Einstein never took any IQ tests but results of his contributions strongly suggest high IQ (reason E=MC2 was mentioned) About Andy Warhol that you mentioned, he is referred to as a successful artist, not so much as a genius, from references about him online. He certainly could have been born with much natural talents too because his biography states that he suffered a disease at the young age of 8 which made him bedridden for quite some time and that it was during this time that his mum started teaching him art. Eventually he went on to develop himself, especially after the dad died of liver jaundice. (I like that you made me read about these people). There's an important point to note so we won't digress and that's because we are talking about 'being genius' and there's dictionary definition of it. On a lighter note, the boldened made me laugh, I wish you could tell me that guy's name. |
CoolUsername:Passion, hard work and conscientiousness will certainly take you far but not very close to the level of those who naturally have the intelligence and have combined it with the factors mentioned. The 11 years old autistic boy (Kevin) obviously has been working hard, since he reads a lot, and has sharpened his passion for quizzes, so just like Albert Einstein, the thing is first natural, before the other sharpening efforts come in. |
seunmsg:So much of the change that was preached and is still being sang. The melo drama (video of his involvement in illicit drug dealing) that ensued after his link with Hush Puppi was established is shameful and makes charade of the fight against corruption. Shame. |
CollinsNeuman:If not high IQ how then can one arrive at E=MC2? Incredible Problem solving abilities and inventions start from a root that connects with high intelligence that can make complex calculations within stipulated time. The coinage IQ might not have been in place during Albert Einstein but all indications show the parameters were there. |
Spartacus101:That was a sad experience. It's unfortunate a lot of those who are called pastors and men of God are in real sense otherwise and they are the ones making the impression, sadly. |
Quite a number of times such accused are actually innocent of these allegations. |
God1000:Funny people, if Buhari goes there you'll still see the same crowd, same for Tinubu and Kwankwaso. But it's good. There will be vote split which the new electoral process will further plunge matters for those who relied on manipulation of the results. This time it may be possible but it won't be easy at all. |
Bonesbreaker:Relax. All those useless calculations are not factoring the vote split that will greet PDP, APC and NNPP up north, while LP votes will not be affected because it is all about Peter Obi. |
Jesusloveyou:So typical and predictable. To you everyone who holds contrary opinion is Igbo, from the east. Am not even from the south, shame on you. |
Authority1o1:She was busted, simple. In business of developing websites yet same websites keep attacking a particular presidential candidate, and other individuals like Hundeyi.. Likewise the twitter account. There's no hiding place for this one, lol |
Bontafa:Hahahahaha It's like watching horror film to them now, lwkmd.. |
Jones4190:We all need to always ask God for forgiveness, that's true. But if in deed you and your revered Buhari fear God you would by now not only asked for forgiveness but repented from nepotism that led to the sharp division of the country's long managed unity in diversity, you would have long repented of your sins for making promises you not only broke but lied your way all through to power. Buhari like every other past Nigerian leader was elected to move Nigeria higher up among comity of nations, he ended up plunging us further into hardship, division, Crises and deep insecurity and you are here making a god of him because of bridge. Wasn't he elected to do that and more? Shame. |
NoFucksToGive:Look at it from another angle, this is good for democracy and the country. That one region (according to him) will have this entitlement mentality. Can things work well with such mentality? This is an eye opener for the South too. |
