jrusky:Just proves that the Supreme Court is not clean, just filled with folks that are no more honorable than the average Joe on the streets. The moment any one of them hits the limelight, their shadow looms long and creepy. From Onoghen to Odilli to Tanko and even the man at the helm today, all dodgy fellows, defective broom sticks we think will help clean the Augean Table.... just sad. The only silver lining here is that these things are coming to light more frequently and no longer hidden. However what will make the revelations meaningful to Nigeria is if they are acted upon. |
Lanretoye:You simply cannot build prosperity on the foundations of malfeasance. Wake up man. We have been trying to do that for 60 years, how far have we 'prospered' as a nation of nationals walking around with k-legs. Let us stop self deceit. What these things simply encourage is impunity. The next ones after this man will view his 'success' as normal and tow that path. That is how you and me gang up to admit and secure crime in Nigeria and we turn round to complain when it matures and inflicts pain on us in multi-varied ways. Why does the black man love dark paths and cannot organise himself and his community around sound values.... why? This man together with his colleagues complained of indiscretion by the former CJN, Tanko just days ago.... everyone suffers from wrongdoing. |
ofuonyebi:You can imagine what a so called citizen is saying. Little care or thought about what the country and its hapless citizens are going through..... Nigerians need many, many, many, more years over hot coals for such dross to be purged from our collective psyches. |
Indeed the average PVC is as useless as the complimentary card of a defunct enterprise. It contains no value to change the fortunes of Nigeria. We perhaps need one or two more decades of punishing decadence, gross socio-economic suffering until this present generation of of emperors perish from the earth and the people arise like prodigal sons and daughters from the pigs sty. |
That is what a defective national structure will repeatedly provide, candidates with question marks and dodgy credibility. And how will you then put a defective component in a high pressure, jet engine like furnace of a country where leadership is expected to work precisely, reliably and under high pressure. Just see what Nigeria has passed through these past years with defective leadership, now we are facing a new one with moral baggage that will hound throughout the future regime. Not that other parties fare any better, the case of the opposition PDP is far worse and will be buffeted by stories of corruption for the next four years should they win. So we can see that corruption of any and every kind is not the biggest problem Nigeria faces but the nature of the swamp that breeds it. Drain the swamp, change the structure and only the best will qualify to lead. |
wunmi590:Learn to choose leaders you find and groom by yourselves and resist imposition by those who desire to build political empires for themselves. That is the only guarantee of loyalty by the leaders to the led. |
'Coke' is the standard all other colas follow. It is the foundation stone of the global carbonated beverage industry that is worth $408 billion dollars as at 2019 of which Coca Cola Inc commands about 49 percent share with a corporate valuation of about 33 billion dollars which is bigger than the economy of Costa Rica and the 84th most valuable entity on earth. 13.63 billion cases of 'Coke' are consumed annually or 10,000 bottles of coke drank every second around the world. Drinking any other soda puts you in the minority. |
Haba Mr. President, why can't you just tell them you have more pressing engagements at home eh. Colleges on strike for months..... the train kidnap victims still in the bush after weeks on end, their loved ones almost going insane with grief.... c'mon man, where is the humanity, you are a leader for heavens sake. Why pretend in front of other world leaders that all is fine and well at home when your house is caving in. |
That .... is not good news.... at all. |
The Federal Government will simply be crazy to grant the application for bail when the country is tottering on the brink of a security collapse. It has played all its cards, boxed itself into a corner and has to bear the consequences of prolonged insecurity for years to come. The Government failed to put out the fires of insecurity with regards to IPOB and the larger South East when it was smoldering, and we did warn then (years ago now, in the infancy of this government) that dialogue was the best option to preventing the State from fighting on too many fronts and expending scarce resources on security. But I guess the government backed by its horde of ignorant (to conflict management) fanatics have driven into a cul-de-sac and raised the stakes for a peaceful resolution to such dizzying heights no one can afford anymore, even a lot, lot higher stakes than the El-zakzaky crises which is the closest case to this in the history of Nigeria. |
Tianamen1:No sir. What Mr. Obasanjo did was just economic cosmetology. Very good as they were, the problems were far deeper than that. The issues were and still are fundamental first and structural overall, so his solutions back then only cleared the first hurdle and thus were not sustainable. For want of time, I will just illustrate; He merely fumigated to kill the pests of debts, but did not cut the grass of financial waste, clear the bushes of an over-bloated public service, leaving a dirty financial environment as a fundamental error, fit for the bugs of debt to shortly reappear. Worse still he did not drain the swamp across the fence meaning the very structural problems afflicting the Nigeria state that makes productivity near impossible thus making public debts almost always inevitable. So fumigating the bushes of public expenditure just made the bugs take cover in the swamp to await a change of government, and the next rains of global financial upheavals and boom we are back to crushing debts. Even if you brought back OBJ today the best he will do will be to fumigate again (if possible) and we will enjoy a better balance sheet for just a season. We have deeper issues that keep this nation in perpetual decline decade on decade which go way deeper than public debt and successive repayment drama. |
Cash handouts has its place but it never succeeds without organisation and objectivity. It is better to fund cooperatives directly where the beneficiaries contribute their effort and/or skill while he funds the mission or enterprise. Then it can be sustainable, then he might get a return on investment to reach even more folks. Stomach infrastructure only lasts as long as the digestive enzymes permit then he becomes an enemy when it cannot be sustained. Just look at the success rate of the so called N-Power, just appalling. What government should have done instead is identify people with common skill sets and cluster them around objective enterprises then fund their efforts within those enterprises. For example setting up, ICT, telecoms hardware, solar tech, agric specialties, small scale manufacturing, etc, clusters and then using the procurement budgets of MDA's to part fund these enterprises thus reducing the overall national social intervention bill.. Again for instance, there must be N-Power beneficiaries with skill sets in clothing and footware. Cluster them around enterprises and use the uniform and kit budgets of the military and paramilitary to partly fund those beneficiaries making it a win/win situation. There are all sorts of ideas out there to fight poverty and get the youth away from crime and into productivity. |
The FRSC has repeatedly warned you idiots to stop using navigational aids when driving. I wish they can get your particulars and suspend your license indefinitely.... and the government charges you for damage to infrastructure which is almost a given. |
Some international media say for reasons of corruption not health grounds. |
micaluk:Abeg Lugbe no be Abuja. It is a satellite town on the outskirts of Abuja and is not in the City Master Plan. |
pacespot:Affirmative action is affirmative action. What is the difference between religion and ethnicity when it comes to the challenges of Nigeria, everything is divided and destroyed along those lines. If we cannot have 16 consecutive years of a certain ethnic group why should we have 16 years of a certain religious group at the top of the food chain. If it is a different ball game as you say then why will north not accept a Christian as a Vice President to represent their interests. Those who want to accommodate one will not accept the other. They will say competence matters when the narrative favours but they will not take that absolutely. That is why folks like us are saying this ethno-religious permutations we always go through at every election cycle, that produces only poor quality leadership can only be solved when we sit down and agree amongst many things, to set the standards for what we want before the choice arises. That if competence is what we want we should all agree to discard rotation and balance, that is end affirmative action as regards tribe and religion. |
pacespot:What is the difference between a muslim-muslim ticket and and a north to north succession. Both equally fly in the face of ethno-religious balance, the foundation of social justice in the country. Both ethnicity and religious divisions have messed up this country in equal measure over the decades. If competence of whatever kind is sought and affirmative action is compromised it should be across board and cannot be selective. This is an argument I heard repeatedly made by intellectuals last week in numerous debates. If something is to be excused and ended, then quota system, federal character, etc should be expunged from the Constitution. This should be the argument of any persons or party aggrieved by the north-north succession or muslim-muslim plans. |
Eriokanmi:More than that. Have all your luggage wrapped and photographed in 3D esp when travelling to countries with capital punishment for folly. |
The Women's Lib will say it is her body and their reps will cheer until their husbands begin to take interest and the fight starts. They love to tempt but cannot contain the fall(out). |
And those who will be lawfully denied will leave the party. When you break the law there will be consequences. The black man just cannot build institutions, just cannot evolve viable societies. |
PresidObi:The day you all decided restructuring did not matter and aligned with the establishment that has degraded the country for 60 years believing one day a lemon tree will produce oranges. Change the game and the players will naturally qualify and you will not have Lionel Messi trying to win an NBA ring. Right now our democratic sport has neither standards, rules, direction or purpose. It is an all comers affair with dwarfs, villains, retards and maniacs eminently qualified. Little wonder there is little rest for the average Nigerian. |
If the 'north' won't support him irrespective of the candidate he chooses then their support is uncertain and perhaps uncertain they will vote for his vice-president and not a president from another party....anyway who cares.... heads or tails Nigeria loses. The only constant is what I repeatedly say, that without restructuring our leadership choices will always be between bad and worse, a so called 'Devil's Alternative', while democracies in other nations ensure the very best are placed in office every election cycle. The very people saying religion doesn't matter but competence are neck deep in the same mud of tribal and ethnic indecision. Tell me which is worse between ethnic and religious divisions and I will show you the difference between a crocodile and an alligator.... very little. Both have equally cost the lives of Nigerians in great numbers and left the country in tatters. |
I do not know whether this is a good move. The club is expected to struggle to survive and so horrendous pressure will be placed on the forwards to hold the team up in the Premiership..... and he has no experience playing in England..... hmmm... It is like learning to swim from the deep end of a pool. |
So we went to the same school eh. Can't remember too much then other than mum being a teacher, the Murtala coup and of course losing a finger nail to those heavy white doors in the corridor. |
salem1996:Una mout dey baaad gan..... hahahahaha.... ![]() |
nkemoma:...... , behave. |
Who cares? Instead of folks to be busy studying how to squeeze decent leadership out of those they are killing themselves in the name of getting PVC's to vote in.... why won't politicians disrespect them... Of what importance is the paint on a building somewhere in Katsina where there are innumerable challenges facing this country. |
khadaffi:Education is the panacea to almost all the social ills we see today, stop personalising everything and thinking only in terms of individual gain. Proper goverments ensure the education of vast numbers of citizens because this is the bedrock of development, the kind of social stability that creates the many doors you want opened, because right now there are few doors and everyone struggles to get through. An educated man is less susceptible to crime, manipulation of every kind and the inducements that denigrate his personality. In this season of elections and the empowerment of leadership that determines the quality of our lives going forward, an educated man is less likely to be swayed by ethno-religious politics or vote selling because he realises the consequences. Have enough educated people and the value of the average PVC rises making your well structured and well intended vote of more positive impact. For no matter how well your intentions are at the polls Nigeria's destiny will unfortunately and ultimately be determined by the vast hordes of illiterate citizens who will vote with their hearts and not their minds because their minds are uncultured. |
These are the kinds of people the government should grab with both hands when the time is due, people that have stories of overcoming personal adversity to becoming informed and educated. Because Nigeria suffers from a serious lack of adult education. There are gaping holes of illiteracy across the land that undermines every effort to develop this nation and makes it far too easy for the generality of citizens to be led astray by a select few that have weaponized poverty, ethnicity and religion to control and lord over them for feudalistic gains. An educated man or woman has options, has a second thought, has the basic tools for independent actions and is more likely to be capable of doing what is right including the circular act of choosing the right leadership in a democratic setting to break the vicious cycle of despondency we face today. We need universal education for adults as well |
ayoolataiwo:Abeg face your country where guns are expressly needed for everyone in the face of a completely failed security system. If our own Legislature cannot see the need for state and local government police then they have ceded the moral right to prevent the average citizen from defending himself with deadly force when necessary. And we are not talking about bandits or highway men alone. These days robbers come in tens and hundreds in the dead of night to homes and estates right in the middle of even the Federal capital of a whole country and these so called leaders care less. Nonsense. |
Enskynelson:Yeah all those and also the high possibility of contacting all sorts of infections and diseases. But I have been laughing my ass off at some of the responses..... ![]() |
