Boyooosa:What kind of lame response is that. To start the traditional comparison with other countries that will never compare their own woes with ours. He may be convincing to folks who have little expectations of government and are thus weighed own by sentiment, but governments are elected to solve problems and the perennial problem of flooding has been the portion of Lagos since I could ever remember, that is decades an long before global warming became a global topic of discourse. |
The UN should stop turning over stones to find excuses for failure. Ignorant fanatics of this failed administration will jump on this to trumpet. Covid and Ukraine crises did not stop them from reaching their own goals of raising billions from political nomination forms, stealing humongous amounts from the treasury and paying astronomical ransoms the world has never seen to kidnappers.... It has not stopped the prosperity of the black economy. Abeg make I hear word. |
This is why the average PVC is completely useless. The demographics of Nigeria which is the foundation of the electoral process and the harbinger of leadership will be perpetually skewed in favour of cultures where mass procreation is seen as divine. Unfortunately this means that Nigeria will perpetually chase all indices of development including the much vaunted MDG's without a concerted effort at restructuring so that folks who think an act like this are not in the poll (pun not intended) position to rule and decide for Nigeria. Sorry to say so, but a man who considers this to be appropriate living does not command sufficient knowledge to lead in any capacity in a country suffering such an imbalance between productivity and needs, in a world collapsing from the multi-varied effects of over-population. |
Said from the outset he was the wrong choice. The people clearly elected the APC but Dickson somehow managed to thwart that. I guess nature is fighting back. Injustice never pays. |
Fentanyl is deadly. Those of you whose business revolve around large amounts of dollar bills should as a matter of life an death wear gloves when handling. There is not a single bill that is not contaminated with narcotics. |
We said it in 2014/15, that by the end of this regime everyone will be demystified. ACF has joined that chat group. |
Lifestone:This is what I have said also (para 2.). His Presidency will be dogged all the way by religious conflicting of all kinds, in offices, in fields, in government and without, everything will assume religious colouration and governance will suffer. |
naptu2:Apt. All bases covered. If this goes through then what will resist a complete polarising of all arms of government, all MDA's, indeed ALL institutions of governance in Nigeria. If the APC is in for a penny, they will surely be in for a pound. Then again someone will say it does not matter. The only way this kind of thing should be allowed to happen is after Nigeria is restructured. When everyone agrees round a table that religion and indeed ethnicity is to be removed from our national lexicon such that next time a christian too will choose a fellow christian to run and it will be accepted. Anything short of that is injustice and a perpetuation of the instability that has anchored Nigeria to retrogressive waters since independence. |
Great2017:Win or loses Nigeria will be more and more divided. If he wins Christians will be in effect 'the opposition', parties will no longer be the political opposition but a whole religious grouping. If he loses Muslims will resent whichever party wins and are likely to kick. The summary is simple. Given the way the present government has mismanaged our diversity these past years taking us polls apart from 1993, the APC should never have put itself in this position in the first place. No one will come out of this unscathed, the government, the people and all interest groups will be fatally scarred. |
redcliff:This was perhaps the wrong wording. What I meant by 'experiment' is 'a deed gone wrong', an outcome not expected and not in the sense of a laboratory experimentation at creation. able to somehow travel across time and space, we are not able to do that. .... that is the knowledge deficit that makes us thousands and thousands of years behind the power of creation. The Bible makes it clear that God is ALL knowledgeable. I believe this knowledge is not just limited to spiritual virtues but the knowledge of complex sciences way beyond what we can presently imagine that puts all the universes and all creation and all times past, present and future in His immediate grasp, knowledge we may never attain before the earth is ended. In this whole process I also believe that time is not on the side of man to attain the kind of knowledge (and with it the ability - power) to either survive outside the help of God, annul His timetable for rapture or prevent or escape the cataclysmic end to the world (whichever comes first).... simply because man does not have the knowledge of how to 'bend' time, which is the exclusive preserve of God. |
PotatoSalad:That is what I was saying earlier. It is the knowledge of man, science that has to catch up with questions that are apparently obvious. |
redcliff:Quite insightful. There is another school of thought around the mystery of creation that Adam (and Eve) were the seeds on the field of earth and the blessing of multiplication was not of themselves as beings but a multiplication of spiritual virtue (in His likeness). That other planetary bodies within the universe as we see them today were to be inhabited by other Adams, other human beings and with the failed 'experiment' on Earth and the closing of the Garden of Eden all other planetary bodies were left to decay and become uninhabitable having lost the 'Life' and the Presence of God. All this is nonetheless hypothetical but when you see the wanton degradation of earth that results from man's activities, that results from man's overpopulation, then the understanding of the Biblical 'multiplication' may not necessary refer to a run away population growth because Earth's resources are finite and God knows that. I think we are all caged on earth because of Adam's disobedience. And knowing who God is, surely there will be other beings to fulfill His purposes. |
jmoore:I will tell you for a fact that we are not alone. To discover this in reality man virtually has to become omni-present (having the ability to bend space), omni-potent (having virtually unlimited resources - perhaps more than the entire valuation of the earth), and omni-scient (having degrees of knowledge that are presently unfathomable). But man is scratching the surface of all these factors. My guess is that the earth will be long extinct before we find out. |
Tombrown3:Once again there is nowhere in the Bible where it was said the Heavens and the Earth were the only things ever created and all that ever existed. The Bible in many instances creates a picture that a lot happened in infinity before the Heavens, Earth and Man and beast was created. Scientists today will tell you that the governing principles of all existence is down to two factors, space (distance) and time (impulse). We are nearing an understanding that both time and space can be altered, bent to make the past present and the present past and the ability to move from one realm to another. All these I believe are the exclusive preserve (knowledge and ability) of God Almighty to control and manipulate but humans are slowly getting there. |
Offpoint1:How will it destroy it. The Bible for one makes it clear that there are other beings. And that a lot of things happened in infinity before the Heavens and Earth was created. 'Let us make' does not in any way suppose it was the first thing God created. And it is only recently that scientists are discovering there are other realms of existence that can potentially be accessed through portals while folks in time past have said heaven is a mirage and a figment of imagination. Science is just thousands of years behind. |
Amalekki:You're right, he didn't but I think he was invited to camp a couple of times. |
robosky02:And the Babayaro brothers |
No wonder that lad did a volte-face on the Ekweremadu organ harvest?....donation?....harvest?..... donation?.... who knows.... |
abobote:What is wrong with you. The report says their children are abroad, why should they be worried. It is those who are affected that should act. Will you see ambulance without accident, will you see fire truck without fire.... so why should a politician be there or care where there is no incident. The world over citizens create incidents, they put fire to government for results. You think the people of the UK sat idly by to get Boris Johnson out or a third world country with same tribal and ethnic challenges like Nigeria did not come together to chase their President out of office.... Do nothing and they will be comfortable. Again I say, they have given you N5,000 during election. what else do you want.!!! What right do you have to demand for anything beyond N5,000 government service. The average Nigerian that votes for any other reason than performance has no right to demand good governance, period. |
They will snap pictures and post online because it does not have consequences. When you are given N5,000 and you sell your franchise what else do you want? It remains pointless for me to stand in a queue in any election in Nigeria to compete with hordes of people without values. May their sufferings be prolonged.... sorry but it is a fact..... actions do have consequences and as will be seen in Osun shortly the people are not ready to punish mis-governance but excuse it and cash-out crumbs. |
Unprincipled peons..... ebbing and flowing according to the dictates of their slave masters..... voting not because of their needs and themselves but to prop up the tin-gods that have sold their hungry souls a morsel. |
Splitmind:Find alternative to diesel.... ? Please can you think of one for industrial use, oh failed citizen.... |
What people fail to realise is that a loss of communication is always a percusor to conflicts. Where there are lines of communication there will always be a possibility of resolutions before or during conflicts. That is why democracies are underpinned by 'Representatives' whether in Presidential or Parliamentary versions of democracy. That is why nations have embassies in other nations. It is fundamental that peoples have representatives at the highest levels of government to hear them out. Nigeria is even more unique because the Executive holds all the aces in government so a fair share and balance of ethnicity and religion at the Executive level is fundamental for the stability of the country. Someone was even suggesting that having gone this far what is the guarantee that other principal offices in the Legislature will not be 'given' to folks of the same faith as the proposed Executive. Simply because it appears sacrifice and solidarity has been thrown under the bus by a section of Nigeria who has had it good these past 7 years but still will not make way for others a time in the sun. When folks say that even with Mr. Osinbajo the lot of Christians in Nigeria has been dismal so it does not matter, they fail to also realise what will have happened if there was no one to even hear them out, will it not have given rise to self help and more militancy amongst Christians. The APC should really think this thing through. Personally like most others, ultimately it should not matter if we seek 'performance' in governance, but this can only happen in a 'restructured' country where we ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY AGREE TO SHELVE RELIGION and perhaps ETHNICITY and many other dead-weights to our collective progress. Then for instance as we have accepted a muslim-muslim ticket it will also mean the 'core north' will simultaneously have accepted a Christian-Christian ticket next time or whenever the time comes, then everyone will presently be at peace. But as it is with no previous discourse towards this move and with no previous agreements with the stakeholders, it is just a huge risk. And I repeat again, any religious infraction during this proposed government particularly one that Christians bear the brunt will potentially light the fuse on the powder keg the APC has built simply because there will be no one for the Christian side to communicate with in government. P.S. The whole incident once again exposes the need to restructure Nigeria. I always say that without restructuring Nigeria cannot have qualitative leadership elected. On the part of leadership the APC claims it has shelved religion for performance. Is the Bornu ex-governor the best performer amongst all northern candidates, even the ones of the muslim faith??.... no. On the part of the citizens even if Mr. Tinubu is the best candidate the way it stands now he will be elected or not on the basis of religion. not competency as people will either gravitate towards or away from him on that basis.... sad. |
'....a political party that subordinates electoral victory, OVER the safety of lives and the peace of mind of its citizens....' |
ICEWIN:Well I think to solve problems society must set rules. Sane societies do not just sit down and twiddle thumbs while crime escalates. Rules have to be set by government to mandate hotels to instal functional CCTV systems or pay a penalty for not and a far stiffer penalty when incidents occur. They are businesses and can afford it. CCTV systems are becoming more available and affordable as time goes by. If they can pay for manned security at the gates they can afford even the cheaper systems. |
If not for the poor state of the economy hotels/motels should be mandated to demand valid identity cards of all parties with full bio before accepting guests at which copies of such I.D's should be made and kept potentially for reference till such guests leave the premises without incident. CCTV may aid in the prosecution of felons but will do nothing in apprehending them. An ID. with relevant data can be used in tracing movements and placing locations. With an ID his accounts can be monitored and his phones can be tapped. |
PlayMaker14:If you folks want support cut out the insults. Your principal has said so therefore you de-market him thus wasting your time and energy, Be wise. |
Indirectly saying Nigerians have been making mistakes at the polls recently. Even key APC members are wailing. Things we said in 2015 are all coming to pass. I made it loud and clear to anyone and everyone who is old enough on this forum and was alive and aware back then, that by the end of this regime there will be a complete agreement that it was a wasted 8 years. That all the so called achievements will be superficial and that Nigeria and Nigerians will have regressed badly. Everything has come to pass. Once again. If Nigeria is not RESTRUCTURED it doesn't have a future, simple. |
ityP:How can you win by polarising Nigeria. Even if it happens it will be a phyrric victory. His government will be bogged down by unending religious tensions throughout the tenure and insecurity will escalate. |
Why did the APC accept to further accentuate the divisions in Nigeria. This is a party that should be making sacrifices led by the north after Buhari's tenure of polarity. I'm afraid we are in for 4-8 years of religious profiling. Everything will be dogged by this decision and governance will suffer for it. Every appointment will raise ears, every crime will wear an ethnic toga and if any church s attacked or Christian person mobbed.... I just can't imagine. This is unnecessary. The APC should be making the sacrifices to unite this country it has bitterly divided. |
He will need to raise his game massively to remain afloat. The EPL is another animal completely. Defenders show no mercy whatsoever. |
sotall:Unfortunately so, that without restructuring everything has a colouration whether along religious or ethnic lines. These two lines will always rob Nigerians of the good leadership they want but have no courage to take. When folks say, 'even if they choose a Christian those that oppose them still won't vote', is a tacit acknowledgement that the party is drifting into religious bigotry and a land where other sensibilities do not matter. The answer in response should be that, 'are there no Christians of capacity to lead in the APC and are there no Christians in the APC to be led'..... what is their lot for the next 8 years, moreover when they have fared badly in the present government, sidelined for better parts at the highest levels already. If this ticket was going to be a walkover the ground work should have been laid during the Buhari tenure making all faiths and tribes at ease with politicking and governance but the nation thanks to his poor leadership has never been this divided.... then you come with this.... nail to the coffin where secularism and solidarity lies in state? If the ruling party says religion does not matter on the ballot then why does it matter in winning, why can't those who have ruled for 8 years make the sacrifice and support the other faiths just as they 'supported' the other regions to Aso Rock |
