sukkot:And you will willingly sit in class to be lectured by a person earning fractions of what is normal or send your ward to such an institution as a parent. And it hasn't occurred to you that the vicious cycle will soon see lecturers earning N1,000 a month as diminishing returns set in. You certainly smack of one who has not realised the true value of education and the critical importance of those who transmit it. I certainly hope you are not let anywhere near positions of authority for the sake of the generations coming. For the present has been totally wasted and we will just brace for the backlash in this country in years, perhaps decades to come. Estimate what your selfish leaders expend on the education of their wards abroad and take down this senseless post.... and then get educated. |
Sick and tired of all these lamentations in the west. They are the cause of global warming. They are the ones pumping carbon into the atmosphere in record quantities. They are the ones destroying the planet do they should feel the heat (pun intended). Thank goodness most of Africa is in and around the equator and that gives us weather stability and predictability for decades to come. This will be the last habitable part of the earth in the future. |
They too have a stake and should vote for the man who will make their lives better, that is more comfortable for those serving life and more meaningful for those serving time such that when they eventually emerge it will be into the sun, not into rain, thunder and hailstorm, which will naturally keep them 'indoors'. |
Nazgul:That is why the average PVC is useless as an instrument of real change, emancipation and development. Nigerians are not mentally fit to conjure quality leadership. So I will not bother to stand on a queue because it is a vain exercise that will only result in the validation of that man that is going to misrule and make my life worse. My path to a better Nigeria has remained consistent. Restructure first, then everything else shall be added onto Nigeria. But to get Nigeria to think about rebooting there must be a systemic collapse, a precipice we inch closer everyday, so I am comfortable. We will get it right when we have suffered enough and are too weak to continue piggybacking our demons. |
What is the accreditation withdrawal for? Can anyone still be in that place for two and a half years without pay. The place should be like the next location for 'Abandoned Engineering'... ![]() |
BabaOfLagos:Can't you see some sort of thread attached to string it out. |
jimetagambo:You must belong to a business, professional or an interest group of one kind or the other. Instead of doing a 'crab in a barrel' dance, why not call your pals together to do same and seek attention from the incoming government to better your lives. The only thing that has improved in Nigeria since 2015 is crime. Everyone needs a break and it is pointless running another person's race. They want a deal, they want assurances, they want to survive and thrive. I think they know what democracy is all about. |
That is normal, fair and the way democracy works everywhere it is successful in the world. It is a pity that other vulnerable groups are oblivious to this fact but rather bicker amongst themselves and at best are carved to bits of ineffectual cliques by the virus of stomach infrastructure. There is ASUU, hit by tunnel vision and not able to plan an ambush for the coming government, student groups at home but enmeshed in ethno-religious mud games, SME's, farmers, etc. all in unique positions to extend leverage over the candidates and extract concrete commitments, plans and programs sealed in stone and deposited in the vaults of the CBN awaiting the inauguration of the new government. |
That is why the current strike has to be absolute. If the government insists it cannot respond to the demands then it should vacate the franchise. |
Instead of trying to calm things and deflect from the raging ethno-religious storm the APC campaign machine has loaded its breech and is taking pot shots at those fence sitting. Seems they are hellbent on electoral kamikaze. |
helinues:Okay, so it is no longer competence. Because Shettima cannot hold a candle near El-Rufai when it comes to intellect and competence. So please can you guys just sort out the confusion and come out honestly that your strategy is all about targeting Atiku as concerning geography and religion in not bringing a knife to a gun fight. That it is so unfortunate and embarrassing that a ruling party can be running scared of the opposition and playing defence simply because it has no traction amongst the general public aka nothing to sell. |
I hope you were also witnessing the turbaning or attempted turbaning over the weekend sir. And we look forward to your similar prompt action. |
LienwaltAbel:Because these so called leaders just do not know to create jobs. From the picture you can see the project lead is an 'expat'; meaning a project that is white elephant, using scarce resources for big budget works. That is the most expensive way to work. Governments should rather invest in the kind of public works that are force multipliers, that employ the citizens enmasse, spur small scale industry and enhance the skillset of the people at the level they are, so that those skills can be independent sources of future value. Meaning that if I am a governor all the big budget projects will be PPP, Contractor Financed and run. A poor state has no business building a humongous bridge for multiples of billions if it will not convey goods and services worth multiples of billions, if not..... who will pay for the maintenance. These are just money pits and will drain the states resources in the future just as the unproductive highways in Nigeria is showing this country 'shege' each year to keep them motorable. There are few critical thinkers in offices of government. |
If he wants to gain traction he must ensure this so called infrastructure investment must be business oriented. Either one that will directly generate revenue or cut own cost of doing business. However if it is social infrastructure then he MUST go low budget/direct labour so that the youth an small business are empowered, those he will hope to tax tomorrow to sustain social programs. He should look at the Ebonyi model an avoid big ticket construction companies that will either end up paying half that loan as dividends to fat cat directors in some far away land or worse still contribute to more capital flight, further putting pressure on the naira. We should start an era of development when we learn to do things for ourselves on shoe string budgets. That is the way the Asian tigers got their roar. China was not built by Julius Berger. We have oil but we are not Saudi Arabia. Nigeria must cease to be a contractors paradise unless poverty will never leave.. |
You can imagine what he is saying while his fanatics roam about screaming that his sectional candidacy 'does not matter'. You just wonder who the handlers of these folks are.... that cannot advise him to get busy building bridges of trust with all vigour to dissipate the angst of his party's flag. Rather he is busy dozing the fire with bigoted accelerant aimed at frying those on the fence . How wise. |
femiasaolu2014:Yes on account of fighting for a larger share of resources that now accrues to that region when total resource control failed. The militants were fighting for equity and justice. What are the bandits fighting for. Who are their targets? What is their grouse.? That you can equate both scenarios shows a patent lack of intellect and a total ignorance of the workings of this country entirely. |
It won't stop politicians from those zones presenting themselves for election into the highest political offices in Nigeria. But they will be apt to discredit aspirants from the south on account of militancy and tar whole ethnicities as unworthy to lead. |
The next thing is to trash government house an empty the treasury. The EFCC should be put on full alert and the CBN should direct all banks to refuse new credit. Hunger games have commenced. |
Saturday is always a busy period in Ministry based churches. There will be several other programs and several other people to attend to. They can always try the next week, (or in large Ministries) the next month. Marriage ceremonies is not all they do. |
Sammy07:He has bought the 'performance' with N10,000 at the polls so he is now in charge to do as he pleases. When will Nigerians learn to equate their actions with their experiences. How can someone pay you to serve you, to help you.... where on earth does that happen. |
okorogodwin4:But how can a President govern in isolation, with practically all the governors as opposition. How can he preside over a country, with all the Senators and Representatives as opposition, don't you think he will be impeached in a heartbeat in trying to foist his ultra conservative vision. I do sincerely believe Obi to be the best candidate for President, long before now and even before his candidacy with Atiku in 2015 because we share the same vision for this country and his actions in fiscal conservatism practiced in Anambra is the only model that can turn around the economy of Nigeria. But I have one big reservation: I believe the Nigeria is best served by political duopoly and no more, two contending parties at every election and candidates working their visions from within rather than breakouts every time a differing ideology is sought. The ability to drag others into one's vision is a shorter route to the overall development of this country. So I praise the Obi candidacy for the awareness and hope it has brought to Nigerians, it is truly a breathe of fresh air but as a practical instrument of change in Nigeria via governance, it is just not workable. He simply cannot govern in isolation and will have to form bitter tasting alliances his die-hard fanatics may not be able to swallow should he be willed to succeed. |
Emu4life:This is the most sensible comment in a long, long while and one every sane Nigerian should ruminate on day and night to give this country some traction. |
Moh247:And why doesn't he recognize Mr. Peter Obi as a candidate, and lend his full support being the only candidate from the South East contesting. His tales about the APC and the PDP subterfuge is further exposing his hypocrisy. He only brought in talk of the PDP out of guilt and in trying to gain psychological traction. Granted his defection widened and stabilised the polity in the south east but it is on record that he openly resented and spoke against other candidates of that region in the run up to the primaries, something Mr Obi you chastise has never done till date. He remains a self centered politician of questionable morals and faith and has gone a long way to taint his exemplary governance these past years. |
When they talk about performance, is this not the man that will have been chosen by the APC if the north east, if the bi-religiois ticket really 'did not matter'. But a person who has all sorts of sordid insecurity stories swirling around him... |
Of course he will. The nation is clearly polarised along religious lines and people will vote along those lines next year. The country will take a back seat and go to blazes for all they care. Then we will see where they will get the 'performance' from. Without restructuring Nigeria simply cannot survive thoughtless of thriving. |
TOPCRUISE:They are members of the APC. They will seek redress within first. If it isn't successful then they will do what you recommend as the final solution. Everyone has a right to association as eshrined in the Constitution. |
But sir, this is not how you started and what you promised. What worth is your personal values when you cannot inspire and lead others with them. Me too I hate corruption. How that helps Nigeria is 1/200 million times. It is the capacity to transpose these values through leadership that matters. |
Elashade:Indeed, but in ways you may not expect it. You do realise that they had successfully weaponized hunger so that 'Trader Moni' bought 2019. Do not be surprised if 'starving education' will be used to mobilise the ivory towers when the matter is settled 'just in time'.... and they (the hapless students) will 'love the ruling party for it'. Read about when the sadist Emperor Nero did during his infamous reign over the Great Roman Empire. |
Cutehector:Fine, but go easy with the potassium, together with its anti-hero sodium are two elements I wished never existed in the complex chemistry of the human body. Too much wahala. Then I see coconut.... also to be taken in moderation. |
Aj1944:What does it do to the kidneys?.... that is what matters. Too many kidneys are failing prematurely these days. |
And the photo ops for the peons to bile over.... hahaha.... colleges here are as moribund as old graves. |
And he wants to be Vice-President.... disaster loading. Folks, no be curse..... without restructuring Nigeria CAN NEVER get truly qualitative leadership. |
