Truvelisback:The owners of Internazionale, the retail giant, Suning Corp is passing through a rough oatch economically back home in China and are contracting. They want to hang onto their prized asset and see whether they can ride out the Civid blowback. Already they have taken up credit but on condition they hit the gym and trim the fat (70 million in player sales), so no new big signings and this has pissed Conte off who knows that without a bigger squaf he cannot challenge in all fronts next season. By the way they are all asked to take a pay cut, which they have all refused, so the atmosphere next season will be tense at the club. Conte doesn't need money distractions. They parted ways amicably. These days everyone wants to do the Zidane thing. Top coaches are more aware of their reputations and won't have dodgy club owners rubbish their CV's. |
etibaba:Don't mind them. They are just mixing up two different people. |
They are easily vandalised because they are not being used. They are not being used because they belong to government. Government by nature does not have the spirit of enterprise, period. The summary of it all in my perspective is simple. Privatise the railway system in Nigeria. There are big international players from Russia, China, India, Canada, etc that can take advantage of the huge potentials in rail transport and make it a cornerstone of our development efforts. It only takes the proper attitude and perspective of government. No one knows today, few feel the impact and hardly anyone cares if telecom infrastructure is vandalized because it is under private control which makes care and efficiency critical to their survival. Everyone knows the only way to ensure the security of critical infrastructure is to keep them operational, and the earnings from those operations pay to keep them secure. If that rail line was in private hands all these years, you can bet it will be working 24/7 and tell me what time vandals will have to cut them up. But you can imagine if ABC transport for example decides to abandon its entire fleet of buses along the highways all over the nation, it wouldn't take a genius to tell what will happen to them shortly. This is what sensible Nigerians should be advocating, not knee jerk reactions to what will happen anywhere in the world where such precious assets are abandoned recklessly by a profligate system. YES. HIGH VALUE MATERIALS WILL BE STOLEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WHERE THEY ARE ABANDONED. |
But soccer is a team sport. Why only him. |
Thought they said he was on the verge of joining Real. |
Don't they know where he is? Does he have immunity? Was he not voted into the Senate by his people.... as a reward for the 'great' services rendered as governor. |
That speaks volumes of the quality of leadership presently in Nigeria. Leadership sir, including yourself I'm afraid. Poor quality leadership leads to a poor state of affairs. All the instruments of power lie in your hands and the in the hands of your compatriots. No excuses. You lot have failed, period. Now start the introspection. |
Angelfrost:Yeah. Not in the matchday squad they say. Pity. It will have been the greatest audition of his career so far. Nigerian players should learn game management in order to be there or there about when it matters most. |
Thor3399:I will not join you in prayers.... Next time him and others will steer clear of such appointments but instead stick with the far more noble profession of teaching, research and knowledge transfer. A time surely will come when politics and politicians will be treated the same way as all over the world, with much suspicion at best and much derision normally. El-Rufai has done a good job in that. |
Chris525:Hmmm....but in the 'wisdom of your assertion do you not consider the fact that if the fellow is NOT a member and perhaps knows nothing about these criminal gangs, has no affiliations or interests in these groups HE MAY BECOME RADICALISED BY ASSOCIATION. This is what we constantly say about the structure of Nigeria that promotes the repetitive lines of errors. The kind of errors that caused a once radical but timid religious movement in the early 2010's to become a raging, carnivorous, blood letting, cross border amorphous insurgency we witness today. Once again the inability of the security authorities to get on top of the situation and fight violence with intelligence, justice and in best practices will cause manageable problems to metastasise. We should be careful as a country and the whole lot of fellow citizens out there should demand that the right thing is done by the authorities this time around. This country CANNOT afford fighting on two fronts no matter the bravado by political office holders. Citizens MUST demand for a de-escalation of the situation and a peaceable negotiated settlement SOONER THAN LATER. When this matter gets out of control folks like you goading on the government to act without fidelity will begin to bemoan the fallout on the wider society, the stability and even the economy of the country. Violence PAYS NO ONE. |
GreenFarmsNG:He is not a Salah type of player. There the problems will arise. There is always a challenge when a player is brought in specifically to replace another of different skillset. The whole team will have to adjust. And I donot think Liverpool can do that. |
Righteousness2:....or Sevilla for that matter for the simple reason of the magic Julen Lopetegui is weaving there. Liverpool is for the finished article and I donot think he will be able to cope with the pressure there. Belgium to England is a very, very steep learning curve. |
rightdata:So how much are drain ducks paid in your fantastic country as a factor of minimum wage or GDP. If the report comes out another day and the same Ministry says its personnel costs are millions or billions of naira on account of 'M.Sc quality salaries' the same folks will be up in arms as to the high cost of governance. "No be to clear gutter again...haba," they will all scream... Oga. He is doing a low paying job. For someone out of a job for ages, he should consider it a lifeline and not a noose and certainly not a kite string. He should have endured it for a while, while seeking better opportunities. Once again. The only caveat here is if his wages were being deliberately undercut and he will know this and speak up about that specifically. |
fkj950ax:One of the few reasonable heads here. For heavens' sake cleaning drains is minimum wage anywhere in the world. He is certainly over qualified but you have to admit if he is being paid higher than his more 'reasonably qualified' colleagues there will be other problems to contend with. The only pinch of salt I have here is why he was sacked. I do not think disclosing ones wages is a 'sack-able' offence except where underhand dealings are done. On balance I think someone is helping himself to part of the poor fellow's wack and to leave him pigging away in the muck quite frankly...stinks.... .... no pun intended. |
Terrible. Just terrible. Restructure Nigeria amongst other things so that security can be established at the grassroots through the Constabulary or Sheriff's system. They say no. They want all power and authority centralised and domiciled at Force headquarters so that it can be an instrument of feudal manipulation and control. They have invested so much in placing their people in strategic positions of ownership they do not want to see their franchise, sole proprietorship disbanded or undermined. They say we should make do with 'Vigilante's or so called 'Community Policing that is not recognised by the Constitution so it cannot be properly set up, structured and institutionalised, funded and equipped, neither can it share resources and interface with other agencies of the law both home and abroad. They do not want any thing rigid and structured so that whenever it suits their fancy it be be disbanded, derailed, destroyed or left to rot. So that it cannot investigate or prosecute cases against their interests and because it will not be effective the citizens will sooner than later abandon them as failures. How long are Nigerians going to accept this state of things. Folks, another round of elections is coming up in 2023. Any well meaning citizen that cannot summon the courage to demand for a restructuring of this country with particular emphasis on security and the economy will suffer the dire consequences. Enough blood has been shed to prove a nonsensical point. That Nigeria can continue as it is presently without consequences. |
“....No inch of the space delineated and known, currently, as South West, and indeed the whole South, will be ceded to a band of invaders masquerading as herdsmen under any guise....” Very serious matter.... folks, brace for impact. |
vickydevoka:So why promise a fixed income on the foundations of fluid market place. That is THE FRAUD. There is nothing in the world of finance that is certain. That is why there are rules. |
A Lebanese Christian funding Hezbollah obviously to checkmate Israel. The way we see the Christianity-Islam-Judaism dynamic is far different from their perspective over there. In the middle east these are not just religions but define entire cultures, peoples and politics while here it is all about faiths. |
omolola100:Was looking at your position and the credibility of replies up to this point. Then you settled it all with this.... This is the summary of you and your friend. |
ybalogs:Westham for what. He should avoid unstable, unproven clubs with average players all around. He should go to a club with a solid track record of improving players and a taste for trophies. He is 26 not 21. No time to experiment. Genk to Westham is a back pass. |
Lama70:It is becoming extremely difficult defending this government and a President who is adamant at shredding whatever is left of his legacy. You can imagine if the former President was this defensive of the atrocities of the Niger Delta militants and defensive of their quest to completely appropriate the resources in THEIR domain, what will have happened to Nigeria. I believe when you aspire to the highest office and approach to swear to uphold the constitution, you do so with a certain degree of sacrifice. To let go of primordial instincts and be a leader for all. Sharing the feelings, the pains and aspirations of every Nigeria in EQUAL measure. This President and this government is falling far short of that. |
Not a single mention of the thousands of killings associated with herding in recent past, no mention whatsoever of the economic carnage to host communities, no mention of appropriate justice to the perpetrators. This government continues to undermine this country with its insensitivity and clear sectionalism. It is difficult for any bystander to consider it a fair umpire in the most challenging period in our history post 1971. Why they make governance much more difficult for themselves and horrific for the vast majority of citizens I just cannot comprehend. |
Hmmm.... like Reno Omokri on a peaceful flight from London to a well deserved summer vac package to Southy and somewhere over Niger state (hypothetical flight plan), BOOM, the Airbus A340 is tagged by two spanky new Super Tucano GA Aircraft and forced to divert to Nnamdi Zik where a grand reception is awaiting him complete with a mobile cage and a beaming Minister of Queer Justice.... ![]() |
The whole system is crumbling. I cannot see how self help will not come into being. This is what gave rise to the Sheriff's Departments in the states in ages past.... the total absence and huge void in security at the grassroots. It is up to government to legislate and have constitutional security structures established or keep hugging the present failed, unworkable structure and ferment anarchy. It is up to them to considerhoiw many more lives will be lost before they discard sentiment and give hapless Nigerians a break. |
virago:Are you joking. Juventus has won a total of 70 trophies to AC Milan's 48. Not even close. Appears you have just started watching Serie A. Juventus is the biggest soccer brand in Italy by a country mile. Even after getting relegated for malpractices and stripped of the 2005 and 2006 serie a titles, they still came back and nearly made it ten on the trot before signing 'Mickey Mouse' to coach them. Sivio's billions no doubt made a splash in Milan in the 90's and early 2000's but when it comes to success, Juventus is the Real Madrid of Italy. Stable success over the decades. Always there or there about. Some of the biggest names in world soccer have passed through its gates. |
yemmit90:Hmmm...is he better than Andreas the 'Mickey Mouse' Pirlo ....hahahaha.... the vino in the Juventus boardroom must be pressed from Chinese grapes. |
onatisi:Cost them a bucket load of UCL cash this Covid austerity. |
legba1:Didn't impress yesterday. Easily marked out. Poor movement. Both he and Nacho need to sit down for a Jamie Vardy masterclass on eluding defenders and not standstill waiting for business like Customs checkpoint. |
I personally think the military as an institution has reached a watershed moment in its history. A fork in the road of some sorts and with all the challenges thrown at it from all sides, it is time for some deep seated circumspection as to how it sits and fits into society as a whole. It is time for the military to enter into this country and become the military of Nigeria, the defenders of the people. For me it has stood far too aloof from the heart beat of the nation and psychologically exalted itself above the realities of the everyday experiences of what it means to be Nigerian. The military belongs to all of us. The great men and women who serve there are our relations, friends and compatriots. It is time they become a part of us and we become a part of them. The Nigerian military IS TOO DISTANT FROM THE PEOPLE OF NIGERIA. It should not be so. We want to mourn when they mourn as a nation and share the times of joy and victory when they prevail and win. We want to be their cheerleaders and number one supporters through these absolutely difficult times they pass through presently. I sincerely beg the government to open channels of contact and solidarity between the peoples of this country and its armed services. People who lay down their lives for others are unique and prized possessions to any society. They should not be treated shabbily. Let us love them. Revive the 'military days'. Let us have townhalls and exhibitions, bazaars and family fests and sporting exchanges. Let us establish military bonds for financial support to the men and women in uniform, in action, familiies of the departed, those injured and invalid and retired with honour. They deserve it all. |
Inflation remains the real problem. The 18+ percent inflation minus the half percentage growth is 17 percemtage point deeper into poverty. But t is a spark nontheless. |
Just shocked that almost every respondent berates his credentials as a candidate and openly, shamelessly I will say, insinuate that political office is for illiterates, thugs and brigands. If this is not poor quality citizenship, what is? For a people cannot experience the good they cannot imagine and cannot get the quality of leadership their mentality repudiates. What a pity. |
It is well...honestly. It is well with this country. So, so sad. Once again I express my heart felt condolence to the family of General Attahiru. God will comfort them at this extremely difficult time and will encourage the entire military community in Nigeria. Man may abandon you but God sure will not. It is my sincere hope that the sacrifices of our heroes shall ultimately not be in vain. |
