Yes, speaking to the people he claims to serve in the midst of unprecedented national tragedies and challenges is an achievement of sorts. Well done. We are simply enjoying what we subscribed to at the polls. Not your fault. |
Nonsense. For 30k Euro I can ride a Fulcrum to the upper atmosphere for much, much longer. 11 minutes only....c'mon.... Jeff continues to asphyxiate his fanatics....pun intended. |
Your associations can make, break or even end your life. She must have grown up around people who filled her mind with stories of El-dorado through the 'wilderness'. Promoted the dream while silencing the risks.... What else can explain this tragedy. The mind is indeed a crucible of inexplainable deeds that leaves one totally perplexed and asking the big question....why? Sad. What a waste. |
Goke7:You both have a point. A chicken an egg argument really. Do you service the rich first, who are then attracted to engage the 'poor' - the Dangote model of industrialisation. Or do you invest in the poor in the hope of growing naturally, from the roots to the top. The jury is out on that. They both have their pros and cons and do not always work well in every situation. This is where vision becomes important and this is where politics must take responsibility in carving out workable, consistent policies, programs and pursuits. This is apt because I consider vividly the experiences of her close cousin, Cross-River state where inconsistent vision is haunting development. Donald had a vision quite similar to Udom's presently and invested massively at the top with 'elitist' projects in the hope of attracting investment, the political backlash led the Imoke government to focus on more socially responsible outreaches primarily to the rural folk at the fringes of society. That backlash as well has led the present government to ride the middle ground seeking to industrialise the state, not with big, bold ventures but middle of the road cottage like industries. Result today. The State is in a state (no pun intended) of developmental confusion, huge resource wastage and a situation where practically nothing really works towards recognisable development as all efforts since 1999 appear to be working at Cross (again no pun intended) purposes. We should be careful here at siding or victimising one perspective or the other. What is really needed is consistency. And this is what i fear in Akwa Ibom like many other States of the Federation, staying a visionary course across governments, tenures, party balloons and political hot air. |
Little surprise here. The APC is expert at base politics. Always setting the standards for obtuse behaviour. Denigrated political officials and offices to the highest levels while in opposition, the same they are apt to call out today. Serially abused the highway of social media prior to 2015, the same they seek earnestly to extinguish today. but they have forgotten that politics is a revolving door and power is transient. It all expires in 2023 and will certainly return with interest. This is what I fear. That those you teach bad behaviour will dish it out a whole lot better when the shoe assumes the other foot, Altogether poor students of history. |
What do they mean by 'if'. His heart stopped for several minutes and was only restarted with a defribillator and persistent CPR. He is simply done from any sort of physical activity for life. Just lucky to be alive. How many come back from that. |
It should bid its time till 2023 when a proper government is in place. Precious little has grown since 2015 and they are merely the latest victims of Nigeria's slide. |
FrancisDiote:Absolutely. Some ignorant parts of modern day Pentecostalism frown against medicine and medical practices as standing against their faith and God. But the same Word that promises you healing and health, delivers victory and success, provisions and prosperity, security and safety. But will God agree that because He said so you will not train to fight battles towards victory, you donot need to read to aquire education or you donot have to work to prosper, or you should not lock your car door in the church carpark or wear safety belt as you drive home. No. God did not say we should do nothing about our situation. As a matter of fact your action justifies your faith. God sees your actions and He knows you mean business and agree with His promises. If you pray for healing or deliverance or prosperity or safety or dominion, whatever, believe that God will do it through whatever means the Word declares but if you do nothing, God has nothing to work with and you can die in full view of all His Angels as a sad testimony of misunderstanding. Break your fast. Have yourself checked out and believe God to return to fulfil your vows. God is not the author of pain, sickness, disease or death. He obtains no pleasure whatsoever in your pains. Jesus broke Jewish tradition to heal people. What is a fast that He cannot agree to break. You prove nothing by seeking Him in pain. He is love, not a taskmaster. Don't play religion. We have gone through all these things and have been lighted. |
If you die what will be the relevance of the fast. Do you even understand what a fast is... A fast is a sacrifice in the quest to seeking God. Do everything to engage with God including your wellness. Faith is cooperating with the Word. So you have your part to play to ensure you are healthy enough to serve God. |
Suremikky:What do you call CPR for over ten minutes and two shots from the defibrillator. The guy was a goner. Well done to the first responders and the team medics. |
Men, scary stuff. I was just looking at the clock from when he went down till he was shot back. Took too damned long. At 29, he should just call it quits. Not worth it. |
The question anyone should then ask. Is there anything achievable without agitation. Is liberty given or demanded in any setting on earth. When folks appear on this forum and berate those who agitate for liberty, think about these things. That those who shout from the roof tops today only whispered it yesterday. Those who are violent today asked for their rights in peace yesterday. But they were not accommodated, understood and appreciated so the commotion grew louder. You say no one has a right to agitate, but if the former owners of Nigeria, the British had acted the way the present owners of Nigeria do, will you have a country to call your own? This is my own Democracy Day message. Solidarity is the only way greatness can be built. Without equity, peace and justice no empire can rise, stand or abide. All citizens have an equal right to this nation and must be listened to, understood and accommodated. |
You can imagine if this investment like many others were to be made in an outfit domicilled in the state. That is an outfit like the 'Ogun State Police Department'. And these assets are under the control of local authority, what better impact it will make. But you give them out to people you cannot direct, you cannot make demands from, you cannot control, vett, or assess. What is stopping these equipment from finding its way to Kaura Namoda or Potiskum or Warri. You can all see the terrible waste a poorly structured nation cultivates. In a proper, well structured environment certain metrics will accompany any investment for accountability reasons. The taxpayer has spent x Naira on the police, they expect y% reduction in thus or that crime, z% increase in thus or that police activity. When investments are made by local governments in other parts you hear that it has gone to putting 100, 200, 500, 1000 more officers on the streets for example. Here, nothing. The failed structure will just gobble up the resources and nothing meaningful will change. If the average citizen could see the metrics from local government investment and appreciate the changing, improving statistics of crime then he will be encouraged to pay more by way of taxation for security. Our bad structure makes good governance so, so much more difficult for all. |
thebosstrevor1:Thank you. This misconception is all too common these days particularly in an environment of rampant poverty. Folks often mistake the articles of productivity for productivity itself. So money to them is a yardstick of wealth, which is wrong. Wealth is not physical, but resides in the head and the heart. It is about competencies, ideas, inspiration, systems and organisation, values, culture, etc, THE WAY OF LIFE. That is why Nigeria is mistakenly described as a wealthy country because of its extractive resources while at the same time dominates the base indices for life and living. In a nutshell. You can be rich without being wealthy, but it is extremely hard to avoid becoming rich when you acquire or attain wealth. And like i said, in employment where your resources are sequestered it becomes extremely difficult to organise values around wealth. |
Rich, perhaps, wealthy, no. Wealth is the ability to source and control the factors of productivity. Thus the inability to control's one's 24 hour cycle will make it impossible for an employee to be wealthy. Moreover compensations in employment by nature are tailored to place the individual in a power flux, That is enough to keep you moving, but not enough to enable you escape the forces of financial gravity. And this applies to all modes of employments. |
Badabada:Until the governments citizens labour to elect into office begin to respect and fear them there can never be development in any way, shape or form. Good governance the world over is not given. It is fought for. The nations we admire today just do not share the core values we demonstrate today, the terrible values we either defend or ignorantly accept to our destruction. |
unikprince:Yeah, apart from the air around him, I donot see what CR7 realistically adds to that team. Some feel he is holding it down. But I think his quest for that International record is the leverage Fernando Santos wishes to exploit. They play better without him. |
Philip4564:They have the biggest squad, and one of the youngest and there are 5 subs allowed this tournament. Watch out for those FACTS....carefully. It will matter. |
yahgel26:The Pomms will always flatter to deceive and like their grand ol, famous soccer league, provide massive entertainment and pantomime while the real bandits steal the silver. |
Ikpeohiri:Scored a good goal last night. Surely his swansong. His head will be more for the records than the performances. Already has the longevity record at the finals. A massive fifth appearance... and only 6 goals shy of Ali Daei.... |
Millimann:Saw the Portuguese team last night. Brimming with talent. Must be the biggest squad. Look good for the semi's.... |
illicit:For your imaginable standards of 'intelligence', yes. Providing international infrastructure that is not functional in your country. Like going abroad to buy an aircraft or a sea going vessel when you donot have an airport or habour. You will have thought the normal way to development will be to build capacity first. Waking up from the grave you will think all the commercial and industrial hubs in Nigeria were linked by rail lines and a spur to Niger was to male a stronger web. But alas, what do I know. Perhaps the criteria for electing the President will be that he does not come from within 30 miles of any border town so that we can get our resources where it matters most to US NIGERIANS, presently swimming in poverty and destitution. Eight years of the 'Personalisation' of Government. This is the result. We will see the 'wonderful' economic and commercial figures from that glorious enterprise over the next decade. |
..... in lowering their asking price I hope they are not selling the 'Demo' version stripped of all important pre-installed software. That dodgy President of French soccer club Lille Fc is teaching a lot of bad transfer habits......see what Arsenal bought for 80 mill... - Right leg toggle - off - Dribbling - demo version 1.12 ver. 1990 - Pace - 5 minutes or 500 metres - whichever is longer.. - Situational Awareness Processor - 1.5 Hz. - Close Control - pay extra 10 million for upgrade - Shot - 5.32 psi. - requires frequent stimulus... |
How many times are we going to say that this man should have been replaced after the last World Cup, 2018. A half decent Technical Department will have analysed that tournament and realised a series of inherent errors in his work and ended it there and then. We are sleep walking to another tournament misadventure with this tactically and 'managerially' inept fellow. If they so love the dude he can be sent upstairs as Technical Director. We need a matchday technician in that dugout, not some old school, Mickey Mouse teacher. |
Rissimenky:...then move to another country....Nigeria will not split 'up' because.... Can you see the paradox folks like you live in. What do you want exactly. Should he, she...them, they... go or not... You have your cake and desire to eat it as well ![]() So what I suggest to folks like you. Look for a quiet place, under a lonely tree somewhere remote, sit down and think long, hard and deeply about life, about humanity and about how absurd you see, understand and relate with others. |
More than a decade in the making and still looking desolate and inactive. Can anyone explain what is happening there. |
Amotolongbo:Rohr said he is not interested in a result. Just wants to test new legs. So why should I bother to watch a 'fixed' match. |
The IGP had ordered for the removal of all highway checkpoints throughout the nation to be replaced by patrols. It is not peculiar to any given location. |
Good one. As governor you are the Chief Marketing Officer of your state. And this will encourage the stimulation of more ventures and partnerships with the private sector, industrialists and SME's.. I want to see more Political office holders hang around investors and producers as opposed to so called consultants and contractors for once. |
In well planned cities of the west I agree.... but in my dear Nigeria where power lines are strewn across streets and highways wily-nily, there will be plenty of burnt offerings to the gods of disorganisation and backwardness. |
When we say restructure they say no. That resource allocation and distribution and corruption is the problem, the only problems. So for four straight years, insecurity is the only thing on the national agenda. A nation struggling to survive a drowning caused by wearing an agbada instead of a speedo. Then they say Nigerians are some of the most brilliant people on earth ...how? |
mistijude:There are issues surrounding that man and his ministry that simply cannot be resolved. Out of respect for the body of Christ in general it is better for nothing to be said right now. The controversies stretching back over the 25 years I have heard about him and the discussions with a few who were witnesses to the origins and beginnings of his mission leaves nothing to be applauded or commended quite frankly. His life was not as transparent as many will imagine it is. |
