Whizzdom:Better return the money before you are all tracked down and assassinated. There are a lots of unsavoury things happening in this country involving the movement of huge amounts of black money covertly. Just quietly return it for your own good. Then make a legal statement and lock it in a vault. |
Ikennablue:Christians do not wear or administer tribal markings. Whatever the reasons for it, no matter what they are, are covered by the Blood of Jesus and inapplicable under the New Covenant. Jesus has promised to present to God, a church without spot or blemish, both spiritually and literally. |
The same body you expect God to keep healthy, God to protect, God to bless, God to save is the same body you are using to advertise another company and business interest. When you get to the office tomorrow carry the placard, the flag, the logo of your company's ace rival and plant it right in front of your desk and see what your bosses and directors think about that. |
Kinzo0917:Perhaps the PSC through the National Assembly should push for good governance, if anything to save lives, the lives of its members from the unnecessary overheating of the security sitiation in Nigeria. It is in the interest of the police to begin to realign its allegiances to the nation by way of the Constitution rather than pecuniary interests masquerading as government. They just cannot continue to bear the brunt of the personal vendettas, high handedness, ethno-religious posturing and serial injustices of a poorly run government that just cannot seem to be able generate the will to deescalate any form of tension anywhere in the country. I have seen in very many instances in the developed world where security agencies at the highest levels do advise government on the best course of action and it is not always confrontational and violent. Those are agencies headed by enlightened professionals who know the cost of actions. |
Despite the fact that it is one of the most dangerous substances known to man and has contributed in no small measure to an escalating public health crises, sugar continues to command and court so much attention and affection. The government should wake up and do everything possible to ensure sugar is as expensive and as restrictive as possible. We simply do not need that substance. Most western nations are already taking concerted efforts to restricting sugar in industry. We will become the target for dumping soon. |
You can do it indoors. If you live in a storey building your staircase is a great cardio work station. Just do 50 to a 100 cycles at moderate pace and you will have a better fix than any road work. |
Hmmm....that is a battalion size force. This is serious. Such a force will require several brigades or a division size formation to contain or dislodge them. |
Blue3k:Folks like you bring in these daft arguments to derail what should be sensible discussions. I haven't looked down but I bet everything after you is scattered. The mods should begin to look into this with a view to improving this forum or else... |
Simplyleo:Oh wise one.... ![]() That is why we repeatedly say that government should choose its battles wisely and in the spirit of democracy stop lighting fires of conflict and insecurity all over the country BECAUSE WE CANNOT AFFORD IT. A wise man puts aside his feelings when insulted and abused. He sleeps on a mat instead on the bed to avoid a troublesome spouse because he cannot cook for himself. He doesn't go into fights with his neighbors because the house rent is yet complete. But for every mouse that squeaks in the Nigeria house the government arrives with petrol and matchstick threatening to raise hell and leaving carnage behind when it should be looking the other way or using its legitimate, constitutional power to negotiate peace and progress, diffuse tensions in communities and around different ethnicities, and religious inclinations. 90 percent of the insecurity challenges we face today is caused by the leadership, administrative and political lapses of yesterday. The wholesale destruction of institutions of social justice and equity that the ordinary man should run to for help before his final resort to rebelling against society is all damaged by this government beyond repair. And as we all know it is far more expensive to repair or replace than to maintain. Oga. No amount of resources on earth can palliate or subsidise bad governance. If the government cannot get the 'state of the nation right', it can build prisons every square kilometer, mount roadblocks every electric pole, mass an army the size of China's and buy more equipment than the United States has, it will never be able to overcome the fallout of misery and guarantee peace. There is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE, period. |
zigzagluv:Waiting for remnants as usual....the stones that will never become corner stones... Arsenal has not signed a single player in the last decade one can describe as a key, marquee player. A player the club can rely on to deliver regularly and head it in the direction of trophies. |
Misterone:So how will the students be released to their families. That is the real matter. That is the evidence of the non settlement principle. Or are you advocating the sacrifice, the slaughter of those kids just to prove a point. The US similarly does not negotiate with criminal elements but it is committed never to leave anyone behind. It rescued captives from our soil months back as a proof of this principle. So theories without plans or proofs are just useless. If you are not going to do the former you must be dedicated to doing the latter. If you are not going to negotiate then you MUST rescue. And this has a short window because they can all be slaughtered in desperation by their captors and then your principle will put you in serious trouble. |
AllenSpencer:So what is your solution to the insecurity surrounding the occupation of ungovernable spaces round about the country. |
Karlovych:Very warped thinking. In all your racial diatribe you could not spare a second to think of the consequences to an unsuspecting user of such products....which could even be you ...months or years down the line. Better wake up and detach right and wrong from sentiment. |
alezzy13:The Constitution is clear but like most things Nigeria, impractical and very difficult to administer due to the infancy of our democracy. One that has refused to develop along best practices. |
The basic principle behind a state of emergency like any emergency is to disrupt the normal course of administration or operations of an entity and hand over control to another. If I am involved in an accident and a medical emergency, in normal climes you lose the power over your time, your space/privacy and even your resources. Every part of your life for the period of emergency is decided by another person. You in effect have no say as to what you eat, drink, wear, hear, watch... It is the same for institutions as a 'State of Emergency on Insecurity' which affects the security institutions of state. Or a 'State of Emergency in a locality' which affects the administration of the place. So in a nutshell, a 'State of Emergency on Insecurity' I assume will involve a direct control by whoever declares it of the instruments of security, be it the police, military and other paramilitary organizations. To the extent to which their leaderships will either be suspended or replaced remains unsure but one thing is certain there would be significant changes to the way these organisations will operate under emergency rule. Same thing with territories, the constitutional structures are suspended and taken over. |
Excessnation:Yeah. About right. The illustration. |
Observer007:He's not seeking affordability, just cost. |
PrisonEscapee:From all the responses so far, appears so. But I think the catch is quality and perhaps integrity. |
InvertedHammer:Sad. But am afriad so. |
salbis:You saw at the peak of Donald Trumps misadventures a lot of his staff and appointees resigning at different times to protect their reputations as people who considered more important their consciences, careers and futures than the ignominy of serving a king in his decaying kingdom. When shall we rise to that level and get true patriots into positions of authority. |
Edusouls:Yes. But not make it substantially worse than you met it. That is the problem today. Governments are elected to make things BETTER. And more importantly they are on a clock called an electoral cycle. Failure to move positively when the clock strikes 4 years ordinarily means your political party pays for it at the polls. At least that is what happens in saner climes. People donot reinforce failure and they will change and change and change and change governments till someone gets serious with the job at hand. Someone interested in creating a legacy.... which is obviously far away from those in power today. It is so remarkable that you feel the standards you applied to get the PDP out of power just six and a half years ago suddenly donot apply. What do you call that. |
Kondomatic:Not intereated in the topic at all. Just strolling through but this.... is ..... CLASSIC. ...Great punt. |
Danny50:This ia.tje beat time for both him and the club. Gives him time to study them on the field and know where the real time problems are and it gives management the right signals well ahead of the transfer seaon. So it is either now or about this time next season and who knows what the dynamics of world club football will be by then. We are still not out of Covid by the way. |
joey150:Truth. Well said. |
[quote author=Nbotee post=101372790]Where are all those ediots who blamed Saraki for being responsible for all the corruption in the National Assembly and being the one stopping the useless Presidency from performing. I hope the govt and National Assembly are doing far better now ooo[/quote Their ignorance about how democracy works has resulted in the greatest mismanagement of Nigeria's affairs since independence. |
Vinstel:Then arrest him and prosecute in accordance with the said laws and see how your courts will be filled to the rafters with cases. Violence begets violence. And that is why the judiciary exists. If the law was/is respected by those in authority we will not be spending trillions of naira on insurgencies and thousands of wasted lives every year this past decade. Appears you folks are not that intelligent enough to see the full picture. |
A democratically elected government does not go around setting fires to dry tinder or fuelling smouldering ones. I cannot see the wisdom in this. |
That is why criticism is good. It works to get things done in a society like ours where legacy means next to nothing. But some ignorantly and unfortunately resist critics and criticism and fail woefully. The government particularly at the centre and all its fans and fanatics alike should take note and glide with opposing currents. That is the only way they can be remembered for good. |
grossintel:Not all judicial cases are court cases as we know them. Some of them involving business/commercial transactions are affected too. It is becoming a serious concern. |
zoba88:Just poor judgement by the FR and the Ministry in general. Just to summarise it all. There is no reason in all of Christianity why God will seek help outside His kingdom for his work or anything He wants to do on this earth He owns. He didn't at creation, He didn't at resurrection and the Holy Spirit sure did not at Pentecost. The Scriptures are clear about the resourcefulness of God and the responsibilities of His children towards the work of Ministries. That everything be done in-house. That is why for those of little faith to believe God for sufficiency and the miracles of resource multiplication they can fall back to the laws that command His people to 'go work',...'go up into the mountains and BRING down' resources for the building of His house. Now, where there is no voluntary obedience believers are commanded to bring ALL THE TITHES AND OFFERINGS INTO HIS HOUSE, so there be sufficient resources to do His work. But today Christians will neither believe God for sufficiency, nor are willing to work hard to provide for the church nor are humble enough to pay the mandatory taxation of God for His work also known as tithing. This is the result. We have allowed our kings and priests go cap in hand to those we should be helping and by so doing bringing the Name of the Lord into disrepute. That Ministry top to bottom should be responsible for this because they neither believe nor teach their congregants their covenant responsibilities towards the God they serve. |
iammo:My friend, this is a democracy and there are a hundred other ways the Federal Government can have its way other than a resort to condoning violence or excusing it. The purpose of a democracy is to gather people around common interests. Everything works on the basis of negotiations. Everyone has an interest. Everything has a price. If the Federal Goverment believes in the interests of pastoralism then it should make an offer like any country in the world does when it seeks investors into its territory. It should sit down with the state government and make them a solid offer attractive enough for Mr. Ortom to present to his people as compensation for the lands, resources and livelihoods they will be giving up. The Federal government should not be going around threatening states and their inhabitants, forcing them to any form of agreements, policies or programmes that undermines their peace simply because they monopolise the instruments of security and war. Consider carefully what will happen if an indigene of Benue state becomes President tomorrow before you come to sad and unfortunate conclusions. You guys just do not think far and deep. |
iammo:His refusal to accept the National Livestock Transformation Plan is reason for the wanton slaughter.? What kind of person are you? Is this how you view fellow human beings.? How many aliens living in the north accept sharia law. Are they conducting business contrary to those laws or not and where they are found flouting those state laws are their interests and investments not disrupted and destroyed. And when they are destroyed do the aliens resort to wanton slaughter of the local populace to have their way. And will any government even one headed by a Christian excuse such a thing. Can you ever imagine it happen. Can this country continue to subsidise these injustices without grave danger to its unity. Please wake up and embrace humanity and place the lives of people, human beings God alone created at the apex of your considerations. Your words and intents are frankly inhuman. |
