Lamasta:Abi oh. What is my business. Am I going to write a term paper at the gates of heaven. Bring praise in Swede or Cantonese, I will humm until I can crack it. No problems. |
Just sing to the Lord biko. What is all these. How many languages do you understand? The soul behind the song is what God looks at. Leave the rest for professors of theology, faculty of psaltery, department of psalms, hyms and spiritual songs. Very soon they will say if you don't have a 10 storey high pipe organ God will not hear your praise. In what language do the birds oif the air praise Him or that 3 year old kid that sings for joy onto the Lord. |
You simply cannot be thinking and saying this yet believe and pratice 'godfatherism in the same breathe. For the basic principle of the democratic culture which puts people in power is that the largest number of people possible appoint the very best person available at any point in time. It is like having 50 million judges on a 'Nigeria has Talent' show. What can surpass the meritocracy of such an outcome, nothing. But Nigeria has a deep rooted history of nepotism, bound tightly with the cords of bigotry and prejudice from the day the white man stepped onto I our shores and empowered the 'yes men' over the rest. Such choices of the morally unprincipled, the corrupt and malleable has funneled down our national DNA since independence through years of military dictatorships and manifested in today's political godfathers and their anointed godsons, the same amoral, corrupt and malleable non performers masquerading as governors, ministers and representatives. How anyone who is a beneficiary of a warped system can extricate himself from it without heavy backlash befuddles me. How anyone who is a seed of authoritarianism will suddenly bear the fruits of equity, parity, fidelity, honour and merit is the biggest joke of the century. Please, let us stop self deception. We know what is right. To get merit into power, democracy has to work INDEED. And for democracy to work we must ALL decide it should work. The discussions and negotiations towards that is the process of restructuring. Thus: without restructuring to agree common rules of the game, merit is just a mirage. |
What we have seen and been screaming our heads about for years and a decade and a half is what Nigerians are just waking up to realise. I don't subscribe to mathematics or geometry or quantum physics or astronomy or biology but what I do know is that this country is at sea, drifting without engine or rudder and until Nigerians stop rocking tjhe ship of state but sit down together to discuss and agree how to get her to shore, capsizing and drowning is the only sure thing. In this there is no Captain or yeoman, all are collectively in peril. Every Nigerian is in harms way. Once again let us restructure this country now. |
The Premiership is just super hard to contain. Which other league in the world will have a newly promoted team stand toe to toe with the biggest and the very best, serial silverware winners week in week out without an iota of respect. No team comes matchday to be cannon fodder. No team comes to roll over and die. If this was Spain, Germany that Pep is familiar with he could even play his second team in such matches. But in England these are the games that define the season. Every game is a cup final and every point contested on a war like footing. Pep must be aghast that he cannot assemble a proper squad before the landmines are exploding all around him. |
See all of them lamenting.... but when opportuned to make simple electoral decisions they implement village grade sentiment. |
Heath insurance should be made mandatory. That's all. This will encourage hospitals to take risks on admissions and pressure the citizens to take sensible health related decisions. Subsequently no hospital will admit without insurance. |
No single citizen of any country on earth will go to the polls to elect a government to make things worse for him, his family, his society and his country. The level of failure of this goverment just has no excuses. The ruling AOC has the majority at all the levels of government, Federal, State and Local government. They have the majority is both Houses of Assembly and has the judiciary primarily sympathetic to it. No President since 1999 has the totality of control, the power this goverment wields presently. Such power could in theory be used for good, to make the necessary reforms to set the nation on the path of lasting peace and prosperity but what we are seeing is the interests of powerful individuals and groups taking control for their anti-Nigeria agendas. |
updatechange:That is the advantage of tough opposition politicking. Things get let out into the open. The people get more enlightened about how government works and the innermost secrets of their leaders. They see who is wasting and who is really in want amongst states and their leadership institutions. They can see on what and how their taxes are expended. If there was proper opposition politicking in a state such as Abia on the one hand, the citizens will not be at sea as to why the state is in such a terrible mess everywhere you look: and on the other hand if the people of Lagos for instance could get a better insight into the workings of their serial governments they may discover that they are not actually getting the value in undoubtedly the harshest taxed state in the country. As far as democracy is concerned if it not an active, contentious, ideologically driven, multi party type where power ebbs and flows according to the dictates of the citizenry then it cannot be said to be working. That is why democracy through the length and breadth of Nigeria has done little to change the fortunes of Nigeria(ns) since its reemergence in 1999. |
! Reference:BTW: The PPPRA should not be setting the price of fuel at all. All it is required to do FOR NOW is to check the pricing templates to ensure no undue profiting, price gouging and no anti trust issues are running. On the part of the consumers, the citizens and industry in particular they should also sheath their swords and pull back their 'protectionist forces' from the DMZ of these decades long oily battles with government by putting an end to the arbitrary powers of petroleum sector unions to operate outside the specific industries they operate in. A situation where they disrupt production, distribution and retail at will and for the flimsiest of reasons cannot make for an optimal development of the sector. Overall, a future where the 'market' in petroleum products is fully develope,d the ability of both government and unions on the other side to control activities will be largely diminished. |
That is the way it should be. Oil is a commodity just like any other and its price should not be controlled through subsidies. Rice is not subsidised, neither is catfish or cement or paracetamol. At worst production may be incentified by tax breaks, waivers on raw material imports but never, ever consumption incentives. Never. It is an economic killer. If the price of fuels are floated there is so much investment that can go into the downstream sector, so many new opportunities for commerce, a fuel only exchange market can open for hedging and futures trading that big industries can tap into to stabilise their procurement. Folks who build or own large tank farms can buy when when the price is low only to sell when prices rise. All these economic activity eventually creates the best value product and the best, sustsinable model for economic investment and development. Unfortunately decades of military rule and authoritanism has blocked us from so much knowledge of how to create wealth from our extractive resources and we are far behind the developmental curve, even behind fellow african nations. You simply cannot develop if someone is paying your bills. You will never be incentified to work. Its that simply. The strain to develop is not called suffering. It is called sacrifice. |
Emmyreal4:Folks sacked from Chevron going into crime.... ?There is no level to the nonsense available on this forum. |
Tonymegabush1:It is not serene at all. Its equivalent is Allen Avenue, a link road between GRA/Aba Road and Ikwerre Road/Agip. Used to be my primary access to work about the late nineties shortly after it was built. |
gmo10:In order to replicate PDP"s "16 wasted years", the APC wants a shot at waste too. Everyone taking turns at 'waste to wealth" schemes. |
Good for Nigerians. Next time you face elections, know who to vote for. If you like when 2023 comes round, choose another oven without thermostat and regulator, na una go roast. I think we were looking for a 'strong leader'. Nigerians got a tipper without power steering, strong one...and we are now headed for the bush....who will save. I will forever remember the iconic Pirelli advert: 'Power is nothing without control' You elect/employ someone to organise and preside over all society aka Executive President and you have no say whatsoever as to how the fellow goes about the job, what do you call that...hmmm.... And he says that you cannot tell him what to do.... only in Nigeria. |
Is this not an extension of jungle justice and extra-judicial action most Nigerians support. If those victims were to be in a market place in most towns and cities they probably won't be alive to tell the story. Is it because he is a politician and the acts took place in a supposedly serene environment folks are frothing. Who speaks for the innocent crudely cut down by mob action in less auspicious settings. His action is a product of a culture that tolerates these kind of things. If society doesn't want these things to continue it must make up its mind to be civil. You cannot eat your cake of violence and have decorum. |
Music to Greta's ears.... down with big oil!!!!!. ![]() |
Building?... looks more like a movie set for cryptic shoots.... |
Bad investment this hazard has proven so far. When you go to the King's club there is no middle ground, you either succeed or fail. |
Have no business there on a public holiday anyway. |
Nellybank:Udom is a product of 'godfathercracy' not democracy. And Akwaibomites expect him to be accountable to them?... |
Ajibel:Get those online first. If you can attract 2.2 billion dollars for a road why cant you do more for the metro. Break it up and find concessionaires to BOT. Inner city transport the world over is no it built by administrations but over generations, each administration 'adding on'. If the Fashola administration had just done one single track and a handful of stations, today many more routes will have been added leaving the 3rd mainland largely deserted, but the lack of vision pushed them to gobble up much more than they could chew and it is now choking. Same political party, same godfather and yet one is not heading anywhere before the second white elephant is born. Do they know that even with Federal resources it took more than a decade for the 3rd Mainland to be built. It is no easy task. Why try to cross water when you have not fully exhausted options on land. |
oluwaseyi0:Let us be honest here. Since leaving Barcelona he has achieved far below expectations. There is not a trophy he's won that was pleasantly surprising. City were already up there winning a couple of trophies before his appointment. It has been three tries at the UCL since then without result, same as in Bayern. He's left and Bayern is playing some of the most outstanding footy seen in recent memory, winning the 'big ears' with aplomb. Its perhaps too early to say but these insane sums expended on farcical, so called talent smacks desperation and perhaps a doubt in his own abilities to 'cook food at home' rather than feast on dodgy takeaways. We know the Premiership is super tough to dominate and every soccer philosophy has a 'best before' date but you just have that feeling concerning Pep that he is at his wits end and perhaps the rigours of today's game is beginning to 'flatten his curve'. The Premiership is a grinder. No matter who leads and what resources a club is able to deploy you will never ever see the dominance of a Juventus, a PSG, a Bayern Munich or an FC Barcelona happening in England. When clubs dominate at home they are mentally relaxed to face the rigours of Europe, but when you fight devastating battles week in week out trying to put down clubs which have no iota of fear or respect as in the Premiership, you burn out fast. I think if Pep wants to reignite his reputation and perhaps win the UCL he may have to depart England. |
olisaEze:Jadon Sancho fetish....when you believe an average but overrated player is messiah...you get fixated like a deer caught in bright headlights. |
Arghh...hope he flushed down the 'explosive residue". |

Get the metrolines working first. What is this constant, crazy fetish for roads and more roads for mass transit. No great city can function optimally without track transport. Have a solid metro line or two running from Lekki the long route to Ikorodu and I bet you folks will transit in no more than 25 minutes which will be far less than it will take even with a fourth bridge. Urban, major city roads everywhere in the world are recognized as band aid solutions. The moment they are built they instantly become congested. Rail lines however are elastic in capacity with the potential for more trains at very little loss in transit efficiency. I look forward to thr first Nigerian city state to wake up from infrastructure slumber. |
When we were crying out for restructuring, they said no. That anti corruption was their mandate. Today, corruption rages and nepotism is the oxidiser. Even Mr. Veep, a whole learned man who made countless excuses for the failed narrative IS JUST WAKING to the reality of a divided, dysfunctional, spluttering engine room of a nation at sea. He is just waking to the fact that those he stuck out his neck and integrity for are just taking him for a ride. It must really suck and I do wish to read his memoirs in time to come. Yet we say these folks are brilliant and totally fit for leadership...hmmm.. |
Sonnobax15:14 counts oga. Divide 98 by 14 to get the picture...but I trust she will be comfy and harassment free in gaol. With a face like that other inmates are bound to ask air traffic control for permission to taxi past her cell. |
What is the difference. Every child was home 'locked down'. Seems the ICPC top dog has been terrorised by the powers that be. If not he doesn't need to clarify anything. Shows these folks are not as independent or as free as their counterparts in other climes. Still tied to the whims and caprices of their masters. |
Kriss216:Those quotes are not scriptural. They are not the words of God. The intent is clear however and is based on scriptural principles and fruits that describe perserverance, patience, fidelity, sacrifice, love and all the attributes a man should possess in any relationship, not just marriage, even our relationship with God to be a successful believer. The Bible makes it clear. If you cannot love your fellow man, how can you claim to love God whom you cannot see. Our age is filled with folks who are essentially selfish, impatient, disloyal, hateful and haughty, traits that erode their capacity to handle relationships. Little wonder marriages are short lived. |
Racoon:Man is free born creature with a soul that decides what it wants. God cannot force any man to be anything he doesn't desire. His abilities stop at conviction when it comes to His Kingdom. What any man makes of his marriage is what will happen, just as what you make of your ways and your life will determine your outcome. |
