poltergeist:Delete your post oga. They are both correct. Except you are the surgeon who is in charge of the procedure and has the scan results. |
GreatResearcher:How do you guys rock.? Softies, hovering from afar where the Nigerian Army stands and looks the whites of the enemy's eyes. |
Totally recession proof, 365 day a year business. Phones never stop ringing. But no thanks. |
garfield1:Very true. The APC clearly won in Bayelsa and it is regrettable that an unpopular governor runs that state today and little wonder that since the elections you do not hear anything coming from that state. He must have gone to sleep. We really like nonsense in this country. |
Indeed party on....but remember that time is running and political capital is ebbing slowly away. You are not a first time governor so what exactly is a prolonged fanfare for. Get to work immediately and make the tough but necessary decisions towards good governance you promised and do so well ahead of the politically drunk citizenry. Because when they awake from their electoral stupor you will immediately begin receiving it hot. You are not elected for partying and fanfare. |
And for those speaking about fuel dumping, there are a few things to be understood. Helicopters are relatively low flying aircraft optimised for operations in terrain that does not afford space or ground conditions fixed wing aircraft require to take off and land safely. Meaning small airfields, rugged mountainous or soft-swampy land or urban area ocated helipads. When fuel is dumped is comes out of the aircraft through a pitot under pump pressure as a fine mist observed on ground as a contrail if two conditions are fulfilled. One, the aircraft is moving FAST enough to aerosol the fuel and two, the aircraft is flying HIGH enough for atmospheric pressure to suspend the aerosol long enough for it to be dispersed before gravity takes over (the reason why clouds are up there and not down at our feet). A helicopter traditionally does not do both relatively well. Thirdly and most importantly as in this case, there are strict regulations as to where an aircraft CAN DUMP FUEL. In most countries it is strictly forbidden over populated areas for obvious reasons so an aircraft coming into Lagos (a sprawling metropolis) will have to fly out or fly by to the Atlantic to do that, further complicating any emergency. The vast majority of helicopters operating around the world do so in predominantly urban settings so making fuel dumping a staple is just irrelevant. That is why today it is only military helicopters that do so and only for specific operational reasons in their designated military set ups. Hypothetically speaking, if that Bell chopper had dumped fuel flying at such a low altitude and slow speed coming into MMA, several fires will have erupted along the trail perhaspos causing a lot more devastation. Hypothetically speaking as well, if the pilot had noticed any malfunction he should have just found the nearest spot to land immediately. A land no matter where is always better than a crash. For any pilots reading this. Put your aircraft down immediately. Life is better than a bad name or earning a bad rap. |
FarahAideed:Totally agree. Happens once a while. Miscalculation, faulty guages, corner cutting, many things happen. The chartered flight that crashed in Brazil carrying the Chapecoense team a few years ago had the same issue, corner cutting in not carrying the mandatory fuel reserves... When an aircraft goes down and breaks apart completely without igniting a fire, it is most likely the tanks are empty. |
Said it. It simply ran out of fuel in flight. There is no way an aircraft flying for more than five minutes will crash, break apart badly and not go up in flames. Fuel fires in all of aerospace operations is a given except where incidents happen over water. Jet A1 is highly volatile and these turbine engines run very, very hot. There must either have been a miscalculation or misapplication of fuel loads at origin and perhaps faulty instruments. However the pilot should have put his aircraft down at first sign of engine starvation. After all it is a chopper and doesn't require much space to land safely. Why pilots desperately try to make port against all odds often baffles me. Just put the damn thing down. |
The entire south is now firmly PDP.... not good at all. |
Totally agree. Can't elucidate. Very busy. |
Just hope so. Will be rooting for them to dig up the PDP and cast them asunder in that state. Haba. 21 years of nose diving and they still have not face planted their sorry arses. Abia needs deliverance. They should just try solidarity and turn a mere stick into a spear. |
Hmmm....Nigerian dad, Korean mum, Spanish passport.... what a story. More baffling is he's surnamed 'Park'..... who does that ?? |
Just poor quality citizenship everywhere. Little wonder the country is in a mess. Tell me of what importance is this to any citizen of Nigeria just after elections. They run around irrelevancy while leaving what really matters to them. And most of them are men.... doing Hollywood gossip stuff. 48 hours is too long a rest before waking Mr. Obaseki up for his first torture session in government. Torture to begin laying the eggs of democracy. And incidentally this 'First 48' is the only chance the governor will have in taking back breaking, unpopular but important decisions.... when the people are still drunk. |
Hope he too leaves quietly after his tenure is over and he allows the people decide who comes after him. I do not like the way this whole thing is drifting. The fight for democratic rights should be the preserve of all and sundry, not just a certain strong man. For when the coast is clear he becomes just as bad as his foes. |
tot:Exactly what I said as my only reaction to the election yesterday. The people have been traumatised into believing their votes will not count by this poison, this plague, this calamity called 'godfatherism' that has severely weakened democracy and put the people on the back foot in the battle between the rulers and the ruled A weak mandate is an antidote for abuse of power. Weak democratic investments cannot yield strong dividends. |
TimeManager:That is exactly what we hope for and in normal societies what we expect. That when the tenure of an elected official is over he goes away. But this is lost on the warped thinking of most Nigerians including you unfortunately. Yes, Obaseki will/should go away into obscurity having played his part. That is entirely normal. Politicians in other climes do not hang around after their tenures to poison the waters of progress or play god to the citizens. If Oshiomhole had done likewise his legacy will have been secured as perhaps the best governor in recent times but greed, selfish ambition and a total misunderstanding of what democracy is all about has ruined all that. Now, he will only be remembered in the Hall of Democratic Infamy as a lesson for the upright and the real progressives, that this is a democracy, not an autocracy and certainly not a monarchy. It is an insult to the average citizen that he cannot of himself choose who leads him and has to be presented with a 'suitable' candidate. What are the credentials and competencies of these so called godfathers to make them sole determinants of leadership. Time and time again, state after state they all come out to tell us the familiar, 'that they made mistakes is supporting certain poodles into power...' Isn't that self indicting. Well, tell them this. I as a citizen of the country will not make such a mistake because I can smell those who will perform in leadership from a thousand miles and so can Edolites, a state teeming with extremely bright and intellectually sound individuals who do not need an ex-trade unionist to lead them by the nose ring like cattle. Abeg make una go siddon. You better start learning what democracy is all about. We have seen enough mess already. |
Nothing much to say about this and other elections because quite frankly, I'm fed up and though this has sounded a wrecking blow to the darkness of godfatherism I am concerned that such a highly contested election will produce a governor with just a 500,000 voter roll call. This is real apathy. Whenever elections call, no matter what side wins I always say this, structure is the most important thing. It is just not good enough to give so much power and place so much resources on people who in my opinion are elected on wafer thin mandates. It is the source of all these problems 300,000+ people can elect Obaseki, 530,000 citizens at the polls cannot hold him accountable and drive good governance. Democracy may have won but the dividends will remain e!usive if the real issues of the structure of this country are not addressed. |
Wow. An icon has left this building. |
This Scripture and others is just the New Testament version of the famoius Old Testament sayings of God: 'DONOT WORSHIP OTHER GODS OR BOW DOWN TO OTHER GODS' simply because men have become slaves to the works of their hands. It is Jesus demanding for authority over your life by tugging at your prized possessions. For where a man's treasure is there his heart will also be. Men do it to their wives a lot, women demand it of men all the time JUST TO PROVE LOYALTY, FIDELTY AND LOVE. God asking us to do same should not be a problem. He is simply saying that I have a system of doing stuff called MY KINGDOM and it has its own rules, conduct and its own ways of making wealth and if you want to immigrate there you sell your stuff and come in, simple. In all my years knowing God, one thing I have come to understand (because I did struggle with this for years) is: God wants to be in control of EVERYTHING. Especially if that thing is important to you. The Bible says He is a jealous God and CANNOT accept you (WATCH THIS VERY CAREFULLY) having, keeping or engineering wealth He is NOT DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR. Only matured Christians will understand this, but when you begin to get seriously serious with God, the first thing He does is to pull your LIFE SUPPORT. He wants you to TOTALLY depend on Him. He wants to MAKE YOU....DEPEND ON HIM ONLY all your life. The fact that any man cannot accept this truth says that much about his ability to yield to God. |
Just to add to what I said earlier. Christianity is a relationship and reconciliation through Jesus Christ was obtained through the love that breeds sacrifice, true love. Contrary to a lot of thinking out there, God does not rule by fear and certainly does not want you related to Him on the basis of fear. If you are dying and fear hell then your quest for a relationship is QUESTIONABLE. Hell should not be the reason why you seek God and should not be a reason why you follow after him. If as a man or woman I seek to get married because of the fear I have for something outside alone, for example, in our society, the fear of poverty, the fear of social rejection, etc, and not because I love the person, that relationship is certainly not genuine but just one of convenience. God doesn't want to be your parachute or escape pod but your Father and your God. The greatest proof of salvation is one between lovers. You come to love Him after He proved His by making the ultimate sacrifice in His Son Jesus. And you love Him by giving your life to Him at your MOST inconvenience. That is why it is best to do it today when there are doubters, mockers, and resistance aplenty. |
In broad terms as long as there is life, there is hope. Mark my words carefully, HOPE is leaning to God. Whether it will eventually happen is another matter because the author of sin is very cunny and calculative and his objective is solely to destroy you so do not think for a minute one can live a reckless life and bailout to safety at the last minute. The devil has that covered as well and since you cannot determine your life, or the minute you will leave this earth is is wise to put on the life jacket or safety/seat belt ALWAYS or as they say in my industry AT ALL TIMES. Receive the grace for salvation WHILE IT IS YET DAY. Concerning your sister, the 'we prayed' I assume refers to you and her. If it doesn't I'm afraid you cannot 'pray salvation' into anyone's life. I always tell folks, Christianity is not a religion but a RELATIONSHIP reestablished between you and your maker. It is personal, of personalities. There is little 'WE' in it. Each individual has a soul that is as different as two SIM cards on a network. One cannot plainly gain access to another's conversations. Christianity is also a FAITH whereby our relationship with God is held in escrow, in trust. We cannot see Him but believe Him. I tell you, it is impossible for a man to determine the 'belief' of another man so no man can tell whether another is truly saved, thoughtless of one like your sister on her deathbed. It is impossible to tell the state of her mind if it was indeed conscious to events because one clearly needs to be conscious to sin and make a conscious decision for Christ to be saved. Not by confessions alone, but by reprove of guilt. Only the Holy Spirit can do this, no one else can. The good news however is that you made an attempt and His grace can bridge the gap. She may be saved but it will be because of what God does, not by what you attempted to do which is unlikely on its own to work. It is very, very, hard for a last minute change of destiny. Folks out there, PLS DONOT TRY THIS AT HOME. ACT TODAY. |
Don't recompense evil for evil. Your very existence is a testament that they have an opportunity to change. Don't squander it. Make them in your own image. An image of sacrifice, fortitude and love. |
Wow...and collapsed in good time...just before schools reopen. |
When you remove all the parts of Lagos developed when it was the capital city of Nigeria you find the same problems like any other state, a total failure of foresight and planning where development is wanton leading to socio economic, enviromental challenges manifest in poor infrastructure and poor quality of life. If not how can a relatively new suburb like Lekki (est. late 80's) be grid locked, flooded and totally congested by now whereas cities such as Abuja remain relatively resilient ro these factors due to slightly better planning. States are not doing as well as they should be, Lagos inclusive. A new city such as Lekki should have been properly masterplanned considering all the amenities that will make it a viable place to live projecting at least a hundred years ahead. |
thesicilian:In slme countries autopsies are mandatory without which a death certificate will not be issued thus the state assumes the person remains alive with all the consequences. |
Let me see who from the infamous Hall of Ruling Power fanatics will dispute this point or mock the man as a twitter senator. They have all been shut up by the whirlwind of maladministration we presently witness. |
soberdrunk:He has transformed Nigeria... Changed it completely.... |
Simple arithmentic means each 'home' on average will be financed to the tune of just over 600 thousand naira.... to do what exactly... buy furniture or pay off the official and resident 'omoniles'... can't understand. If the government is serious about housing it needs to attack the fire from all sides. It needs to moderate the cost centres as well as providing support to consumers as it does with this program. |
He must be crazy. Power should never, ever, ever again in the life of this country become the responsibility of government. There is absolutely nothing of public service government is presently managing well. To add power to that basket will just sink Nigeria. |
Because ALL, ALL, ALL our earnings is used to fund the biggest reccrent expenditures in the history of Nigeria. Our overheads, the mindbogglingly cist of running this country has attained stratospheric levels. And through all the woes of inflation, of rampant taxation, of Covid economic destruction, of subsidy removals, government had been the only sector untouched, no job losses, no sacrifices to the rest of Nigeria, nothing. We have reached a stage where 95 percent of the population bear directly the burden of 5 percent of those who govern them and bear all the burden of repaying loans on infrastructure, which practically is the only benefit they gain from their country. Sorry situation. |
A key event spelling the beginning of the end of time. |

I nor just know wetin make me fall in love and believe Buhari die that year, I was defending him as if they were paying me for PR, I was under strong illusion that in 2 years he will have transformed Nigeria.......
