bunto:Running never solves anything and surrender only emboldens prejudice. Stay on and continue to express your liberty with solid values. With time light overcomes darkness. In a decade on this forum I have never been taken to task by anyone on any matter and my apolitocal, detribalised, class-free (I don't even know what tribe I am from) ensures I can comment objectivvely on anyone and anything without prejudice. There is no one on this forum with the capacity to provoke me into unruly and uncivilised conversarion. I just ignore you. What I try to promote and you should be doing also is simple. The TRUTH about Nigeria, her goverment, her politics, her citizens and her prospects going forward. That's all. I care not what anyine thinks or feels about me or the subject matter. I will only respond to correct what I think are honest mistakes and laugh at jokes. The racism and crude behaviour flies off like water on a duck's back. |
'Justice should be blind' they seem to be saying. |
520...hmmm....what if they were 5,200 arrested... or 52,000...or perhaps 520,000, or even 5.2million people arrested. Where will they be warehoused, how will they be fed. Folks, the larger the number, the greater the tendency to change the laws that define right and wrong. Folks, good rule, misrule, no rule are all just a funcrion of numbers. In Nigeria of today's agenda. 1 person in the till is called a miscreant. 10 to 1000 are called hoodlums. 10,000 to 100,000 are called terrorists. What so you call 1 million to a 100 million people on the streets with a single, solid demand. Folks, its all a game of numbers. There is sure impetus when Nigerians can all come together with a unified purpose. They, them on the thrones of Nigeria and Africa know it. The British/whites in Africa knew it. Only those who should know it don't and unfortunately lose out consistently. |
I repeat. Mr. Buhari is not the problem. He didn't put himself in the position of authority, citizens did. While malaria requires medical attention, the mosquito remains the culprit and living in a dirty, swampy environment is the cause. |
CamusMidas:God created ALL the planetary bodies for our discovery, dominion and habitation but we failed at the first step, earth, so we remain here gradually degrading even the one we could not multiply. Finding water on the moon is a great scientific achievement no doubt but in the context of exploring all God had in mind for us.... is still pitifully insignificant. Humanity remains well off the pace of God's creative will. |
nograv:The days of sentimental blindness is coming gradually to an end. Hardship is an effective lime scale remover. No one rushing to the various oasis of 'palliative pleasures' is carrying brooms or umbrellas, crosses or crescents, red caps or aso oke, staffs of offices or togas of slavery. All are united in hopelessness. |
aaking:Can you see what collective citizenship can achieve.... putting the goverment on the run, their knickers in a twist. Now goverment people are scurring for rocks and crevices to hide in and under. The boot is firmly on the other shoe for now. It was the goverment's purview to knock the heads of citizens together in order to exploit the confusion created. The days ahead are truly bright. So, so much opportunity for the right leaders to emerge from this mess to truly reform this country around a peoples who are beginning to realise the potentials of unified values and aspirations. |
lagonovo:You sound so much like the very problem that leads to this. Defender of the status quo ante, desirer of a return to the 'normal'. Instead of trying to diffuse the situation by advising those who have the mandate to effect a new direction for this country you give us a history lesson of what will be, to hopefully scare the 'Israelites on their way in exodus' to return to the slavery of Egypt by your 'Red Sea' narrative. It just sounds too lame. Yes, this could be the warning rumblings of a volcano about to go off. I cannot understand why you think it wise to pour cold water on the volcano instead of fleeing for life and limb. Oga. Nigeria has changed permanently. The old order is gone forever. A rubicon has been crossed. Nigeria CANNOT get more peaceful than this if it governed like this. The goverment and so called leaders will determine her future, not the citizens. |
helinues:The State has been in the hands of your beloved APC for the past 12 years. On what basis can we say that progress will be made in a democracy when change of goverments cannot change fortunes. |
humberjade:Good morning. Read my posts around election season and see how I resist those who go to the polls 'in hope'. I usually tell them that you don't employ a driver and hope he doesn't send you off a bridge. You don't employ a security guard and hope you can get some sleep at night. No. You screen and test for competency. Instruct, train and monitor on the job for performance. That is you get the best eggs and then MAKE the best omlette. Only a mad man will employ a cook to drive and expect miracles in the name of 'hope'. That is foolishness. Great soccer players are made by great managers serving in great clubs. Great clubs ensure they buy certified or potentially great players. That is the right way. If Nigeria desires to progress then it has to assemble the greatest set of Nigerians to lead them, get them contesting vigorously for office and after electing them MAKE them to deliver the best policies and programmes possible. That is a surer way than 'hoping'. What the hell is hoping. That is gambling with your life, your future. |
He said 'love thy neighbour', without qualifications. |
Ratedgang:What I keep on saying. If he is to remain politically afloat he has to pull the rip cord now. Gave an instance of the Obama presidency and the Clintonesque late tenure dramatics. Tinubu has a choice of either sinking with this regime or blowing his tanks to resurface. It doesn't look good right now. Those in goverment are playing a zero sum game and it is obvious the long term health of the APC is not the key agenda. |
And what is the message for wives and children of looting, decadent political rulers.... A government that cares nothing for the people cannot be an agent of change. |
The police should ask themselves this question. If I went to the marketplace to steal and was caught by a mob and was about to be lynched and the police got word, what will they do?.... ignore the call? arrive the scene, cheer the mob and elect to shoot me in the head? What will they say is the difference between that action and this? And fellow citizens even dare to cheer them on for killing the unarmed because of bags of rice and cartons of noodles.... life for food? Where is our humanity?.... |
BlackPantherxXx:Looting, burglary, break and entry, whatever you call it ARE NOT CAPITAL CRIMES. Even if they are, the police are not licensed to kill except under threat of deadly force. If any citizen cannot understand that then we will continue to suffer. If we cannot improve law enforcement then we have scant hope of reforming this country. We are then only good for dictatorships and totalitarian regimes because to make an omelette of development and advancement all nations have, are and will continue to break eggs. |
It is a free world. Anyone can say anything he or she likes. The test is against the state of the nation which is remarkably weakened at the moment. When the earth's magnosphere is weak radiation causing cancers are bound to rise. When an individual's immune system is compromised micro-organisms will bury him. So is the state of Nigeria....born with a malformed heart and still lives a rough life of smoking, drinking, nepotism, tribalism and every corruptive act under the sun. What is she asking for... |
miko1988:Perhaps that's why crime is so rampant....because the police is for sale. This is a daft chicken and egg argument. Anyway the people have rolled the dice and broken the cycle. Let the police respond with probity and let us see the crime rate fall for once in our lifetime. Then perhaps we can all put our car papers in order for once and get decent jobs rather than live on crminality....duh...is that not what decent societies strive for.. |
So without shooting people the police cannot do their jobs. Standards everywhere have collapsed. I think they should all just resign enmass. And we start from scratch, the DSS, NDLEA, civil defence, road safety and other paramilitaries taking over responsibiities in the interim while an entirely new organisarion is formed. |
honor4me:But if you think all the things listed can or could have changed Nigeria for the better then you don't understand what governance is all about. It ia like trying to put out an inferno from a bucket of water spoon by spoon full. |
emmyileri:He cannot restructure Nigeria. The people won't let him to. The day he tries it is the beginning of the end of his goverment as he will be removed. You think all those worshipping him are doing so out of love or devotion. No. It is out of a desire to maintain the status quo ante. Nigeria as it is today is working in their interests and is running according to their vision. So to get the country restructured those who advocate change will have to meet those who donot and persuade them to share values. It is not a goverment endeavour but a citizen endeavour. Unfortunately the people are furthest from each other in unifying values and thus blame goes to all sides and is reflected in ALL MATTERS of contention over the years. Like I will say frequently, the only role of goverment is to organise society. Goverment cannot make apples into orange juice. It is the citizens that need to make themselves 'leadable' before progress can be made. Right now, what we need perhaps in leadership is a Noah, not a Moses. We need someone who can keep us long enough on the same boat to get all the animals talking to each other. |
Of course he is not and neither is he the solution. We said it in 2014 and folks that support you guys had our heads on a stake. They said the main problem was corruption and the solution was 'Mai Gaskiya'. Today we can see that was totally presumptous and the reasoning absolutely false. That corruption was just one of the symptoms of something much, much damning. The failed structure of Nigeria that also lends evidence in failed institutions, failed values, nepotosm, sectionalism, bigotry etc. A structure thay can only be realigned by the cooperarion of all Nigerians, not one any single leader can recognize, thoughtless of repair. Your dad is an average leader, so his results are average. When you place average results into a rapidly and heavily declining equation, the results are obvious.... |
do do humilitypays:Indeed I have noticed that even with fewer security agents on active (non riot/protest) duty the 4 pronged security incidents of banditry, robbery, kidnapping and insurgency is seriously down. I don't even want to speculate what could be responsible. It may be damning. |
yemobrown:Neither here nor there. Will any sane individual wish to be course mates with folks leagues behind educationally. That in itself is dangerous. |
Vicious cycle by an organisation that is hellbent on a course of 'de-professionalisation' by actively cavorting with politicians, politics, personal agendas and partisanship in the name of national security. This is the price. Now we will get an even worse military going forward. Glad to have left when I did. No regrets. The reforms started by OBJ after decades of military rule aimed at raising standards and making for a compact, effective military are all but lost. |
RuudVanNisteroy:They all come home once a while. He and others will be compensated one way or the other by this government he is close to. |
4tomandchi:They did announce they will stop the daily briefing and make a monthly summary and this was before the destructive implosion of recent days. |
No one believes in Nigeria. Even those that tell us to never find the pastures greener at home. At least they could have made that sacrifice for just 8 years of their lives. |
I don't have a boss, just clients and customers. It is like them saying they won't pay me for goods and services rendered until their birthdays. If you work for someone or some firm, it is like saying you boss won't pay you till his birthday or until your firms anniversary. Just amazing..But when you consider that these folks are in reality not our bosses but our servants, makes it even more befuddling. So what can we liken the whole sick incident to in the real world.... Your accountant goes to your client to obtain a cheque payment and you have to raid his house to get it paid into your account and he comes up to tell you he was planning to bring the cheque... yes you heard it again...ON HIS FREAKING BIRTHDAY....hahahaha.... this country is a comedy... walahi. |
And the citizens can see the barefaced looting of their so called leaders, they can see the unfair returns for their labour in comparison to those they support with their taxes. Those in authority do not and cannot have the moral authority to accuse themcof anything. Outside the threat to life, everything these folks have done was taught them by a decrepit society those in authority support fully. |
Horrible match. Piss poor performance by both teams. Total waste of my time. |
This club called Barcelona doesn't want surgery to the team to stay above water. Management should be decisive and cut out the cancer once and for all. It is abundantly clear they have to build a whole new team, a new philosophy and a whole new set of expectations. It is clear they are no longer apex predators in the European club scene. |
Spanish soccer isn't looking green these days. Barcelona losing to Getafe, first since like forever, Real Madrid losing back to back matches and Atletico getting a record hammering under Diego Simeone. Even the national team is decidedly off colour. I don't think the el-classico is in its typical elements for this instalment. |
