Latashia:Ah. Are you a project. ...Burj Khalifa or Space X's Dragon Launch Vehicle... hian. |
Perhaps teaming up with embassy's in the future to surcharge visa applicants to build a pot of funds for these sort of things. The burden on the tax payer is much. |
VaselineCrew:They can come at any time of their pleasing. There is no adult in Nigeria who doesn't know that permits are required before any building is constructed. The benefit is on the authorities. The later a property is demolished the stronger the message is about development control. Just like vehicle ownership. You don't expect the VIO to be present at every car lot to issue papers. The liability to get your papers lies with you and they will fine you whereever the find you without papers subsequently. |
SIR0:Justified.... or trying to be clever by half. I don't blame them. It is a cartel with the Federal Goverment as the mafia don. We will await a leadership that will have the balls to do the needful and deregulate the industry completely, taking their high tower down brick by brick. They should enjoy this while it lasts. |
ChiefAfonja:Absolutely. The bank is liable for this mess. The management should be called to question. You will think that banks are run by enlightened, decent and honest people you can count on. You wil rather send your enforcement resource teams to markets and abbatoirs. |
Emmyandy27:And this is what hurts Nigerians causing them to pour invectives.... hmmm Without a doubt Nigeria will be the last country to come out of Covid 19. We just donot have the mental capacity amongst other things to. |
mushystuff:But isn't this supposed to be the responsibility of the bank that opens its doors for business. It appears no one is interested in safety. Perhaps the goverment should sign a social contract with the people that it will not take responsibility for the fallout of bad behaviour and end all curfews and enforcements. If Nigerians will not balance health and safety with welfare in a sensible mannerthe government cannot compel them to. This is the strength of our nation. This is who we are. They see goverment inactivity in some states they complain. They see over activity in others, they complain. Nigerians should be left to their devices abeg. |
u11ae1013:Yes, you are right but please be human in your response. All lives matter. In your quest to be 'bold' donot discount those who perish everyday particularly from avoidable circumstances. The mortality of Covid 19 averages out at 5 percent globally. This is relatively small compared to other diseases and incidents. Donot suggest that we should all fold our arms and accept this. |
bolaayenimo:At least he is bringing out the facts for those who are not abrest with history particularly the youth who were too not of age when these dastardly things happened. So whether it suits your palette or not history should not be hidden. Let Nigerians decide whether they want things swept under the carpet or not. Afterall certain climes are apt to repeat history while others always seek new frontiers. There is nothing wrong in Mr. President choosing whomsoever he wishes to work with. That it speaks of himself as one who is cautious, more comfortable with the familiar and unwilling to explore, take risks and learn new things is not the matter here. What is important is that Nigerians know their history and the people who have stood in line to bring this country to where it is today. They simply cannot be whitewashed. They presided over some of the darkest moments this country ever experienced. That is a fact that can never be erased. |
Creature from the black lagoon. No words to describe such a beast. |
Tboy1419:I am speaking about the reality of the disease, the present and possibly future aspects as experts see it. I donot involve myself in conspirational stories. I am not interested in where the virus originated and who might have or was not behind it. That doesn't help me or anyone else put a handle on it. My present and future reality is to survive it then continue life as best as I can despite it. Whether the world is able to find a vaccine or not, the world must go on. |
Tboy1419:I think it is you that needs updated information. Deaths in the States passed 30,000 weeks ago, almost a month ago. |
dirtydiva:They are not playing a game but making careful calculations to prepare for the worst case scenario so that they are not planning IN A CRISES. You know it is a black thing to be caught off guard on everything. Tell me. Knowing what you know now. If you had anticipated this pandemic event in December or January will you not have acted diffetently. They say hindsight is always 20/20. As a responsible individual, parent or leader you can never have an overabundance of caution. If your President for instance knew it will be this bad in Nigeria as it is today, at the first sight of the Italian in February no one will have told him to shut the international borders subsequently. |
Seun:Seun. In the middle of January a Professor of Virology from the States, can't remember whether he was from John Hopkins said, it was likely 70 percent of the population of the world will eventually get infected judging by the nature of this particular strain of influenza virus. Today we can see just how aggressive it is. Places that have been technically clear of Covid for a while have witnessed new flareups. The virus itself has eluded the playbook. No one still knows how it infects, no one is sure if it is/has mutating/mutated, no one is sure of the source so the original DNA cannot be sequenced. I will not be entirely surprised if the vaccines on trial presently donot knock this thing out once and for all. My fear and that of Dr. Fauci, USCDC in fact is that the vaccines may cause resistance and may trigger mutation similar to what happened with the 'common cold' vaccine which has to be updated every year. Covid 19 is a very big problem. |
Austine1212:The real giants, not paper or procreation giants. I remember telling Nigerians to carefully note the number of testing kits donated to the goverment the day Nigeria Breweries donated 36,000 kits, yes 36,000. Instead of making a mental note as to what is available so that Nigerians can hold goverment to account, our slow citizens were busy bantering about the north and donations by a brewery. That is 36,000 free kits. If you add goverments own stocks, those donated by other corporates and individuals, should we not be having close to 100,000 tests done by now. Why is no one enraged by the paltry number of tests done compared to the kit gifts. That of NB was a good three weeks plus ago. What is happening in this country. Will they hoard those kits until they rot? |
omonnakoda:I understand Webometrics to rate organisations based on the intellectual content published online, period. If I am right for these hospitals it must mean they have in their employment doctors and other medical professionals that research and publish a lot of research papers. This I know about a couple of hospitals on that list. Doctors I personally know that attend quite a lot of local and international conferences and publish quite a bit. I wouldn't mention names but they usually spend more time doing all that stuff than you find them at work. Such I suspect. It is an academic sort of rating. The fact of the host hospital is just as a point of identification. Like I said, I don't think it has to do with the size of the hospital building, the number of bed spaces, the quality of equipment and all that but the visibility of research by one, two or three people there in their areas of specialty. |
senatordave1:Who will have made a far better senator. |
[quote author=TonyeBarcanista post=89463032][s][/s] It's obvious how you reason! I won't dignify you with any further response[/quote/ Now you have started. You don't have to reply everyone who re-posts. I certainly don't. Focus only on those who respond to your position appropriately and debate with those in a cerebral manner. Avoid distractions. That is how to succeed. |
Edunews:Research publications to be precise. Folks who have an eye on broadening knowledge despite practice. It is not a ranking of how many ventilators you have or how many nurses you employ/engage.... such I suspect. |
omonnakoda:I don't think this is a hospital thing. I think it relates to the people who work there such that an exceptional individual on the global radar happens to practice there. This is my speculation. |
Hmmm...'Webometrics'?....likely means lots of research and publications by their medical personel.... which means medical hospitals and practices of the egg heads as opposed to those run by butchers, carpenters, vulcanizers and herbalists. To that I can attest to a couple on that list. Brilliant folks there. |
AuroraB:He has offered a solution. What is yours. Remain at home twiddling your thumbs awaiting the influenza virus to die off. Good news. Influenza viruses donot die off. Covid 19 will remain in circulation for years to come. Stay at home till then and see what happens to your life, your community, your country, if there is any left. You better start thinking seriously of the consequences of the total destruction of the economy of which the education sector is critical amongst many others. Has goverment not proven enough to you that they simply cannot take care of you. If schools are closed for the next ten years you think it will affect top goverment officials with kids abroad. They will still use your money to send their kids to school while you bicker and fight yourselves here. You better start thinking and find a way out of this mess instead of flooring every idea that comes your way. |
Dcoy:The rich are already going back to school. Schools in Europe are already opening. The CBN has guaranteed forex for foreign education and very soon the VIP wings of hitherto closed airports will be opened for them to leave. So while the poor bickers over education for his kids the rich will have theirs streak ahead....haha. Remember, the borders were kept open long enough for their kids to return causing this mess in the first place. I did warn about the pain that will result from Nigeria being last on the list of countries to solve Covid 19. That is why when I see folks instead of finding solutions rather condemn those who offer anything yet hope on those (goverment) who neither have their intetest nor the capacity to help them. Folks, those you hope on will take care of themselves first and leave the rest of you lot fighting for scraps. Better sieze the initiative and find the way to get your kids back to school. The rest of the world habe found local solutions to get going despite Covid 19. Stay back lazily and poverty and despondency will only multiply. Forget goverment. They are proven helpless and impotent. |
The statistics will vindicate or validate his actions as the case may be. Both health statistics and economic statistics. Time will tell whether he is right or harsh. |
I grew up Upper Middle class surrounded by all the helps and a revolving door of young aunties and uncles to help around with everything. My mum used to say something to my lazy azz that has stuck with me all my life as the number one saying and fashioned my outlook at life. She says very simply, 'Whatever you cannot do for yourself you end up paying heavily to have'. Very weighty words that has built a spirit of excellence that is my constant quest. It also aptly describes Nigeria. The pain we suffer today as a nation, as individuals, as communities is due to our inability to do things for ourselves. When we spend our prime infrastructural dollar including precious, recovered looted funds on contracts to multinationals, when we buy Chinese steel with humongous loans to lay our rail tracks while our steel mills rot away, when we have four refineries and yet have imported fuel for almost half of the duration of our independence.... we are supposed to feel pain. China knows we cannot bend back to wipe our arses without imported tissue. So they will exploit us and deride us until we change our ways. |
When you place materialism front and centre of your home, peace stays in the attic, locked away in a trunk, forgotten till old age steals your strength. |
Abike thread carefully before they begin to rip up the rail lines between Lagos and Ibadan. When we say restructure to put Nigeria on the map of the tiger nations. Your party principals say corruption is the only problem of Nigeria and a better allocation of resources will make Nigeria like China, Lagos like Shanghai. But after five years we are even a bigger bitch to China and she rides us rough like a domatrix. When will you and your folks wake up and smell the coffee. Modern day slavery beckons Nigeria. |
izzy4shizzy:Shows his attitude to the national team and shows how lowly rated the Nigerian National Team is. Few marquee internationals will do similar. |
Folks, hit the road like a bad habit and work the cadio regularly....and of course cut away the carbs....especially the ladies. You will not die without the puddings. Swallow and fatty oil soups is worse than poison. |
illicit:Apt. Just imagine oh. With the stance of the Nigerian goverment against the Zaky Shiite movement we can get 'accidentally hit' with alpha particles, gamma and x-rays from a dirty Iranian nuke sending us beyond prehistoric times to when God said 'Let there be Light.' |
rhymesu28:I just don't understand you fellows. The Bible says a man and woman come together to BECOME ONE! ONE!! ONE!!! Meaning that marraige is a mirror that reflects a boy and girl as incomplete. The process of courtship is where the fusion of both halves happen. In your case a fusion of attitudes, tastes, dispositions, expectations and outlooks in life to become one working model for everyday living. How is it that your are concerned about finances and she appears not. Are you not both living in the same economic bubble. What is making you both have such discordant views about your local economy? You had better get working and weld yourselves together on your finances if you are going to ultimately succeed in fulfilling vision and purpose. |
Racist paradise here. Not for me. |
