honeyB2018:
Pastor Poju, is 100% wrong. I'm not surprised he can spew this nonsense.
Lots of people, don't see and understand what Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Oyakhilome Chris is seeing and talking about. Lots of you, toeing the line of thought of Pastor Oyemade, don't know, the power of the cooperate church. If you know, you will not be in his support.
You don't know, what damage, spiritually the closure of the place of worship has done to lots of believers, lots of Christians will never be the same after this lockdown and closure Wait till the closure is lifted, then you will understand.
I stand with Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Chris. Oyakhilome.
I agree and disagree with you.

Indeed, quite contrary to popular opinion, over the ages the church has not always been the obedient servant to the state. There are well documented instances in the scripture where gatherings held despite decrees from the Roman occupancy of Judea, the Roman empire, various kingdoms througout the Middle Ages and uptil now in nations such as China. People have defied authority to congregate. People have disobeyed authorities to fellowship.

The Scriptures make it clear that even in the face of peril which includes pestilence that folks do express their love for God by defiance. That is true and has happened in recorded scripture. So those who say you can worship in isolation should understand that there will be no church today as we know it if every edict of goverments has been obeyed throughout the ages.

However there is a new line of argument here, one that appears to single out the leadership of the church, particularly of modern day pentecostals that seems to ask that why is it that with all the resources of technology, face to face contact or fellowship remains necessary in difficult times such as this.

That pentecostals with their vast resources and modernised approach to church activity find it difficult to adapt.

Is there an underlying reason, physical or spiritual for having your sheep in real time, not virtual contact. Is there something the Christian is desperately missing by the lack of physical contact.

If there is, is it possible that these tools have either been missing in the structure of the church or been deliberately ignored so that physical contact is inevitable.

Let us be blunt here. Are these churches reallt concerned about the health of the souls of men or more concerned about the loss of congregational numbers/members. That is those who post Covid will rather continue virtual worship or those because of the lockdown have found other assemblies they will not normally go.

Is it about spiritual sustenace or just numerical sustenance. What are these pastors really so concerned about.

The other day I saw a video of transport system in Lagos dated back to early 60s. I wept after watching that video. Literally, there's no difference between Nigeria of 60 years ago and Nigeria of today. No progress, no development. Pathetic!!!
Courtesy of a rent seeking economy, devoid of real development and fueled by the likes of Julius Berger.

It is called the 'Berger Effect'. Its domestic equivalent is like a man who hires cooks and cleaners all the days of his childrens lives leaving them unable to cater for themselves and leaving them delinquent when he eventually dies.

Nigeria has not progressed because we buy instead of building. There is practically no piece of infrastructure we have in Nigeria that is indigenously developed.

Covid 19 has been a wake up call that we cannot always buy ourselves out of trouble. Nigeria will have been fine if we had a Julius Berger health and sanitary equivalent.

Today even recovered loot that normal countries will use in kickstarting their economies via infrastructural investment will, guess what, will go to the likes of the almighty Julius Bergers and co. Profits and dividends to fat cats in Nigeria and Germany with very little positive effect on the economy, zero effect on employment.

Only Nigeria and her fellow African dimwits do this and Nigeria has been doing this since independence. Has anyone cared to tally just how much this company has made from Nigeria since 1965. Sure the figures will be shocking.

This country has squandered its resources to a depth that bankruptcy is the only viable option going forward. We are beginning to see that.

Well, I am not for or against Kogi being checked out. The bottom line is that it is up to the people of Kogi to decide. They should be thoughtful about their actions though realising there is no gain in concealing tragedy if it is brewing.

However it speaks once more about the fact that our leaders appear first of all to be completely as sea concerning the true state of Nigeria(ns). They donot appear to understand the citizens they govern, aka out of touch and secondly it speaks of a dearth of an effective strategy to handle the pandemic in Nigeria.

They have nothing to sell by way of solutions to states. If all they do is roam about collecting stats like some eager school prefect then some states will thumb their noses.

NCDC. What is the Covid 19 battle strategy. This is 2 months encounting. Haba. What is the way to tackle the lion roaming the streets. Are ee going to hide indoors till it drops dead from hunger?

But aren't visitors to a locality required to be quarantined for 14 days. Did we not quarantine the much trumpeted and debated Chinese doctors on arrival.

Anyone can be a carrier including the NCDC officials as has been proven in a couple of states. The fact that you are an official should not ordinarily spare you from isolation protocols. The NCDC chair went into isolation upon his return from China at the start of our program in Nigeria. And if States are truly independent in this fight they have a right to be wary of any unsolicited visit. Not so?

Once again Covid 19 testing includes the test of our geo-political structure as a nation. Interesting times ahead.

Right. So the education instead of the farming is your definition of success. But look around you right now. At the moment the only industry working round the world is agriculture. They were never locked down anywhere because they are essential.

Your definition of success in this case is comparative. That is it has taken one brother and compared his state to the other brothers. This is a very limited perspective. Life is much wider than this and the definition of success much deeper. Not saying he could have been any diffetent if he stayed, but there is every possibilitu he could also have been morw successful today if he did.

Fear is the messages passed in disguise of this virus..
I was told we should view the pandemic as a "war".. fine, during a war, solutions are sort out for, to win and to save lives isn't it? No matter how foolish or wise the solution might be, since it's work and it's bringing "result" why not take the chance?. Madagascar herbs has been curing this virus, no death recorded, (is this by luck or Chance with over 200 cases?), Why cant we source for there solution?. NOTE: This herb tonic is been handled and passed by health experts, professionals in the field, they will never put what is hazardous to the health to the public..
Someone once told me W.H.O didn't approve it herb? But this is the most accessible means to "save lives", are we going to hang-on and continue counting death rate till the W.H.O get a vaccine by the end of this year probably? Must we depend our live-saving solution on only a source because we are part of the organization as a country? Since the herb has been used, is there any side effects that is causing people to die after following the prescription and instructions duly?
We need to think!
Our lives is our responsibility to protect with all possible means...
No one will arrest you for drinking any concoction you find. But trying to rope others into it is a step too far. No responsible authority will agree to promote the uncertified, simple. And in a global pandemic such a drug will need to have global approval.

It is not about its benefit alone but its risk. If something negative happens, you a private citizen will hide and probably deny ever saying this. They, public officials on the other hand may go to jail for it.

Let me tell you this. It is possible that the goverment is secretly testing and using it but to admit that publicly is another matter. If you know the history of failed drug approvals and litigations surrounding it round the world you will understand their reluctance and understand why it takes years to get new drugs and vaccines.

Goverments cannot get away easily like the man on the bus selling those dud pills to end all pills. So obtain it if you can and administer to family and friends but that is not the way the world works. If it was everyone will be in pharma.

grin
I hear a lot of these stories and comments above and below that seem to indicate that charting a course that led to a better life in the eyes of the explorer justifies the course.

I beg to differ with the assumption of success based on a differing path with perhaps some empiric evidence.

Who says such fellow will not have been more successful if he had not made those choices and set out along those paths in the first place. The very definition of success can be beclouded by sentiment when you feel you have escaped something.

By your definition a London education leading to the breadwinner status is success. Who ultimately says he could not have been better than that staying on that farm.

In life you can NEVER ABSOLUTELY TELL. That is why every person must obtain a neutral, independent opinion, presented him by an unbiased party as to what success is and is not.

I'm afraid to say that this COVID-19 stuff in Nigeria is beginning to look like a scam. Because, I've lived more than 3 decades in this very country and I've come to realize that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE IN NIGERIA.

Firstly, USA, UK, Italy, Germany, France etc that has better hospitals than us doesn't discharge COVID-19 patients the way Nigeria does. I mean, what drugs do our doctors use on the infected patients that made them recover from the virus?? Why can't they make the drugs known to all of us. Our Health Minister Need To Tell Us Something We Don't Know

Secondly, why is that the result of the infected people per day always come after 9:30pm or mostly mid night's? No

I'm just a concerned Nigerian think out loud
Is there something wrong with you. How many times will you be told that corona virus has no drug therapy and you keep on asking about drugs they use.

Viruses of all kinds are not destroyed by drugs because they reside in cells. And to destroy them will mean destroying the body itself. Secondly most viruses will mutate to seek better ways of multiplying in cells so specific drugs cannot always be administered in general. That is why the symptoms vary from person to person.

What people who get admitted are treated for are the symptoms together with preventing consequent bacterial infection to buy time for the body to fight the infection itself. That is why it takes long to recover from. The body itself has to study the virus and build its own army of killer cells to fight the virus. That takes time particularly if your cells are compromised by underlying issues.

So stop yakking about treatment. There is no special formula. If you have a cough you will be given an expectorant, if you have a fever you will be given paracetamol, if your blood pressure is dodgy you will be infused and if you cannot breathe well.you will be given oxygen. There is no special covid 19 medicine. Everyone is treated by the way he or she presents.

You guys are still asleep, some just waking. Did I not warn months back that Nigeria will likely be one of the last countries to get out of this pandemic with the attendant devastating effects on our economy due to prolonged international 'lockout'.

This warning first came before the Italian surfaced, when we started screaming ti shutdown the borders and forcibly quarantine international travellers.

I did say then that our slow actions will result in a delayed throughput meaning that while other countries will have troubleshooted and recovered we will still be grappling with the basics.

Now that much of Asia has restarted, Europe coming slowly online and the States forcing its economy open, who will want to have anything to do with a country whose feet has not found the bottom of the river. Who will invest in Nigeria to help substitute for lost oil revenue.

At all levels foreign invrstment inflow will be sparse because folks will be reluctant knowing we are far from stabilising the health of the country. Remember investment is competitive particularly when it is sparse in a global recession regime.

I have no indication yet any of my foreign partners are reconsidering anything but it concerns me seriously the way things are going and I am anxious this country reaches some sort of stability quickly before they begin to look sideways.

Nigeria must get over this pandemic fast. The 22,000 odd tests conducted so far after two months after the WHO declaration of a global pademic is just scandalous for a country the size and importance of Nigeria. Ridiculously low tests means grave uncertainty. Uncertainty is the bane of investment and at all levels.

For how long is this goverment going to depend on grants, loans and recoveries. When are we going to get back to work. Why are we so sluggish, so tardy at moving forward.

The way out is to learn to live with it in society, to continue despite Covid 19. Sure the proposed vaccine and medicines will make it easier to combat but before then it has to be managed by well thought-out strategies of which lockdown is not more that a time buying device.

What you then do with the time will define the success or otherwise of the pandemic war.

instinct57vm:
I have a female friend who got married last year October precisely.

Fast forward to March this year the Mother In Law came to stay with the couple in a bid to visit her hospital within the couple’s area for medical checkup, reason being that she stays a bit farther away in the same state.

Upon her Mother in law’s arrival, she came with my friend’s husband brother accompanied by his girlfriend who all planned staying and eventually stayed without prior notice.

My friend(the lady) is a banker and was only informed casually by her husband while she was at work on the day of their arrival. His excuse was the mother called impromptu about the visit which I don’t think is bad anyway.

These couple stay in a three bedroom apartment and only one room has bed in it. This is the room the couple sleep.

The first two days of the mother inlaw, brother and brother’s girlfriend arrival, the couple had to sleep in the living room while the mother in law and the brother in law’s girlfriend slept in the couple’s room.

As days goes by, the husband who is self employed suggested the the rest of them will handle cooking in the house due to the wife’s tight schedule as per banking job in Lagos.

Part of the consequence of their visit is that they have overthrown the kitchen and like most ladies my friend wasn’t cool with this but tried to keep her cool.

The lady(my friend) became curious and asked the husband to clarify if the mother in law and co intends to stay with them permanently. The husband subsequently flared up with the allegations that his wife doesn’t want his people around. This happened to be the third time his wife asked this question in the space of two weeks.

One thing led to the other on the third time of asking this question my friends husband beat her up and chased her out of the house while the mother stood and watched without interfering.

Efforts to reconcile has proved abortive as the husband refused to let her in again and categorically said to my friend’s dad he isn’t interested in the marriage anymore. The mother in law refused to interfere.

PS: The hubby’s mother is a separated single mother.
PS: My friend and her hubby both contributed to pay the rent
PS: The hubby’s father is not in support of all the happenings and all efforts to reach his son proved abortive since the misunderstanding. He wouldn’t answer his dad’s calls.

What are your opinions about this issue? Thank you.
Poor quality or non existent courtship. For those who take it lightly particularly the ladies, this is the product.

There is no substitute for knowing the person who you will be spending the bulk of your life with indeed. No time or treasure is too precious to expend on this quest especially if you are not a person of faith and so donot have the Holy Spirit to subsidise this quest.

As for the man. The die is cast. He has bought into life long troubles and only regrets will be his dividends. Just watch how things begin to implode around him. The story is far from ended. The lady might as well be in the lifeboat right now. Who knows.

Covid 19 has indeed brought to the fore the very structure of the Christian faith as expressed by modern day pentecostalism. It has called to question the very definition of what the church is, what faith or The Faith is and what it means to be a Christian, a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Posers:

Has anyone lost his or her salvation due to the lockdown. That is, has the loss of fellowship with one another led to the loss of salvation. Answer, yes and no.

Has anyone lost his or her faith, love, kindness, gentleness and all the fruits of salvation.. Has anyone lost any of the gifts of salvation due to the lockdown. Answer, yes and no.

There are a lot of arguments beyond the time I have since I am at work but simply put:

The Church leadership and structure has not done enough to make real 'fishers of men'. That is, Christians who are spiritually self sufficient and capable of conducting the works of God independently of the church structure.

Details, Nigerians, details. This is what sets the developed world apart. In Nigeria billions donated, billions pledged, billions borrowed, billions appropriated... no one is the wiser...details, none.

What you see is the total collapse of society. The goverment seeing the potential for total breakdown of law and order and perhaps a revolution has recinded its total lockdown stance.

Good evening all

Pls is it wrong for me to buy my wife niece under wears?

I have 3 children 2 girls ages 11, 7 and boy 4 , my wife niece is also living with us. She is 15. I buy my children clothes including their under-wears without my wife complaining I was the one that bought my first daughter her first bras too.

When my wife niece came staying with us it was 2018, I noticed most her clothes were native and worn out. I have given her the money to buy new clothes for the child but she never did. For 2 years now this girl has grown so much and still wearing the same clothes and I really feel ashamed every Sunday when we are going to church. Our kids are looking very cute and this girl is looking unkempt all the time. I have talked to my wife but she doesn’t seem to care about her.

I took all kids out for clothes shopping just before this pandemic and I bought clothes including under wears for all kids but my wife wasn’t happy because I bought bras and under wears for her niece. She said the clothes are fine but I have no right to buy under wears for her. She accused me of sleeping with her niece which is not true. I only did it because this girl was in need of clothes just imagine for 2 years no clothes while she keeps changing our kids wardrobes like every 4-6 months.

I have no intention of sleeping with her niece neither am I sleeping with her. I take her as our first born and am like her father. If I want to cheat on my wife, there are plenty women around me, no way I will stoop so low to sleep with her niece.

I have daughters, sisters and nieces, what I don’t want to happen to my kids then I wouldn’t do it to another person's child. My act was innocent but my wife is angry.

Please be honest with me, was my decision wrong?
Look, just focus on the delivery of vision. Leave these mundane issues to your wife. As a female she is sexually neutral when it comes to children. Your responsibilities aare much more serious towards humanity. It is a great waste to be bogged down by these types of issues.

As seen In Lagos today.

Very responsible behaviour but the hand sanitizer na die.

Looks like sniper.
Hope it doesn't contain the famed camel urine prescription. I don't just trust public sanitizers. I carry a mini refill in my pocket for formal locations. I attended a public function before the lockdown and on returning to my hotel room a proper handwash revealed just how rancid the santizer was.

I don't expect any less from people who are notorious for anti social behavior and have an apathy for anything sanitary. They will refill it with only God knows what.

We just donot have the capacity to lockdown. Said it months ago. Our level of poverty, illiteracy and the structure of this country cannot make the battle against Covid similar to what obtains in the Western world.

Everyday they get surprised by the people they are supposed to govern. Is there any leader out there who knows how this country works?. Is there anyone out there who desires to lead a people he knows. We need such a team. One that will take a decision knowing the consequences just like a shepherd knows where the sheep will go in response to his leadership.

We donot need leadership that learns on the job. It cannot serve us well in a crises such as this. Boss Mustapha at first didn't have a clue that we have just clinics not hospitals. Now he has locked down a poor and starving people for a month and he feels their cries of hunger are phantom so he is dumb struck when they rush to the banks to clear the till.... what manner of leadership is this?

One that is completely detached from the reality of the Nigeria(ns) he serves. So it is convenient to blame them.
