What is your business oga gobenor. Should local government not be independent. Does the President check on you. Let the people who should be served by local government hold them to account. If they cannot out of ignorance or sentiment then they suffer for it. The governor doesn't even understand his responsibility. Delineate power and responsibility and watch them all sit up. It is the structure dear governor. You will see a governor dealing with farmers when he should be dealig with agric processing companies. You will see a governor chasing taxis when he should be building metros. You will see a governor comissioning dumpsters when he should be comissioning recycling plants.... Nigeria is just a comedy. |
Ezewuzie01:What is sensible about having two captains in a cockpit. You talk as if you don't know Nigeria. Now nothing will get done. |
Feudalism on tne beat. Why not hold the Ministers to strict performance standards and then hold them accountable. Now insubordination reigns. The President(cy) wants its hands in every pie and its boots up every arse. |
Babatunde40:Looks or weight. At 65 you should seriously start shedding the load if you want many more celebrations. |
Na. Leave us and our rubbish country. Stick to your lifeboat. |
The trap that caught his predecessor will catch him as well. Change the game not the players. Restructure to seperate the goat from the yams? |
Positive Godfatherism or whatever they call it these days....enjoy. |
Engine FOD. |
I don't talk about things I have said for a very long time. |
senatordave1:That's how you guys roll. It is never about principles but about personality. It is never about sin but of whom is comitting it. That is why this country CAN NEVER make progress. Every law, edict, principle, value is bent in someone's interest ALWAYS masquerading as the common good, symptomatic of a banana republic. 'Progressive Godfather'... |
Once again the problem is structure. Just remove allocation to Edo for the next four year term and watch as they will all pack and head home. When you ask each gladiator where he will find the 66 bilion naira Edo state typically was allocated in 2019 they will all run away and hide. Then the free money scenario will change to that of governance by vision, thinking and mission. Then the so called leaders will become true servants at the mercy of the citizens. Then pleasure will turn to labour. Nothing in that is interesting to them. Restructure Nigeria to rid governance of touts, pirates and parasites. Restructure Nigeria to let intellectual visionaires with a passion for true service shine through. |
Thought Rochas said by the time his successor comes there will be nothing left to do for the world class infrastructure he has built in Imo. He really said that at the commissioning of a building in the twilight of his regime if memory serves me right. His fans can attest to that. It wad widely published on this forum.... so what has happened. That is why where I come from politicians are NEVER given the benefit of a doubt. |
You'd wish he could rise from the grave to keep on ruling the field like our politicians do the country. |
Another glass ceiling built. Another potential truncated by indiscretion. |
That's what we tell folks. Donot place a glass ceiling over your heads. Avoid social media like a plague if you have no decorum. Let it not be your life. For those on this forum. Today's anonymity will be tomorrow's disclosure. Technology will guarantee that. And where you have been nasty it will seal your future relationships, security and prosperity. So I advice you to continue your racism, bigotry and hate. Your loss is on a ticking clock. |
nedekid:No, no, no, no. A person in power or in a position of influence should not be accepting gifts from the public under any guise. You simply cannot avoid influece peddling. |
I rather think it is a lack of vision rather than a lack of resources that hinders the establishment of new families tjrough the institution of marraiges. Unions, marraiges are all about purpose. Two people coming together to accomplish something. It is in the coming together that resources are generated through the multiplication of wisdom and effort. The woman is there to enable you 'make it'. I don't know from where this Nigerian concept of 'making it' before marraige came from but it is not presemt in any other society but one so monetised as ours in Nigeria. It is totally wrong. If you can make it on your own you probably donot need to marry. We need a proper perspective on this thing. The provision of man in marraige is not limited to resources. His primary purpose in the marraige is the provision of leadership, the primary driver of vision and for Christians the primary link with God. Both are responsible to work and resource towards its success. And ehen your partner is working and resourcing you will be comoelled to resoect that partner as an equal stakeholder in the marraige. That is why we constantly advocate that women create value within themselves in approaching marraige and men discard their traditional patriachial stand which is equally useless. |
festacman:Totally agree. Though justice may not have been served however service is the overall objective. If he can deliver then it may be well worth it. |
Exc2000:And Trudeau's children (if he has any) will shake their hands whenever he comes to Nigeria on a State visit and decades later the child will become PM of Canada and yet they will receive him at the airport.... but this time in his company will be Canadian scientists hoping to discover either the secrets of eternal life our so called leaders seem to have or to discover how brilliantly daft a people can be to repeatedly bring them back from the dead.... |
Dear Federal Gobamin will you relax the squeeze on interstate for the 2 days so that my trucks can get moving. We are about losing our cool down here. Mbok. |
This girl is not up to 18 even if you age factor poverty. |
One of the things this administration is making all efforts to put an end to, but some people are still against it, cos they believe stealing is still corruption. The foundation of our darling nation has been destroyed from day one, but we will keep believing in her Nigeria will be great in our lifetime and if not, it will be in the lifetime of our children There was a country!! We Rise!
Mister. You don't sit down 'believing', you stand up to repair. Believe will never patch that leaky tyre until the vulcaniser works on it. Unfortunately we reside in a country where the status quo is protected at all costs by those who ultimately profit from its chaos. Ask them to change and they wage war against you. You acknowledge that 'the foundation is destroyed'. This means there is a fundamental or call it basic or call it structural problem with Nigeria and any half decent engineer will tell you that once a structure has foundation problems, the last thing to do is to continue building upwards and piling on more loads wothout addressing the problem. This is the conundrum facing Nigeria, the reason why we cannot make any meaningful progress 60 years after independence, 20 years after democracy and 5 years after the PDP. So if the problem is not an independent, multiparty democracy then it must be the structure to support theae ideals that must be faulty. Now say after me.... 'We want our darling nation restructured' |
DammyLucy:Ask those rushing to make the vaccine. Without that Nigeria could easily be in this scenario for the rest of this year. Our own is no slam bang, take off, reach peak altitude and then land like in the developed world. Ours is a slow burner. Covid 19 is on a gentle stroll through Nigeria like a tourist intent on overstaying his visa, such that will crater our economy if we cannot pick up quick on testing. Told you folks this country will be one of the last to come out if this wahala. If there is anything I inow, it is my country Nigeria. Nothing surprises me anymore. |
That's why they need 500 million dollars to upgrade to digital transmission.... and hopefully a digital wardrobe if they can spare some change. |
A living, walking, breathing example of the futility of corruption. Where is all the loot today... gone. But in his heyday he could afford a small city and every lap of luxury the dollar could buy. Those stealing this country blind should study men like this to see how it will all end... a dishevelled legacy. |
It was all a bad investment. When you look at the money alone you bow to the temptations of more and more at the expense (no pun intended) of logic. It was always illogical from an environmental point of view particularly for an European plane maker and European airlines as Europe is a key driver of a green planet. It was illogical that such a massive platform had no inherent second hand value simply because traditionally an aircraft spends the second half of its life with budget airlines who operate out of smaller airports and developing countries most of which cannot handle a plane of that size. It was illogical from a fuel burn point of view since the price of oil, the cost of which is almost 40 percent of operational expenses is highly volatile. The Trent 1000 engines on a 380 are just monster fuel guzzlers. To have four in tandem is just crazy....then came ETOPS reform to sound the death knell. 2 engined aircraft could now cross the oceans and Boeing pounced with a masterstroke in the 777. Anyway it was great while it lasted. Glad I was privileged to fly on the iconic aircraft of our time in keeping with family tradition. My dad did fly BA Concorde London/New York/London , 1980 for a conference at company expense... when Nigeria was good.. ![]() |
Well the Federal Goverment has to take action. If the oil sector is beyond the reach of local authorities and they continue to operate across both local and international borders at will then the pandemic will not and never be contained. We should define exactly what we want in Nigeria concerning this pandemic because our poor structure is getting in the way. We either go the United Kingdom way where by the national government takes charge of legislation, sets the rules and administers health policy. Or we go the way of the United States whereby the States take care of everything and the Federal government just comes in to augment resources. We cannot succeed whereby the Federal government is working at cross purposes with the States. If the oil industry is exclusive then the State must be the responsibility of the Federal government also. Those who operate in the industry are not ghosts. They move around, interact, shop, worship, socialise with non oil workers who remain in the majority. The Niger Delta is once again exposed and is making unreasonable and unfair sacrifices to keep the country going. The people and leaders there should be understood and not villified for the sacrifices they will have to make. Going forward it shows once again how weak and ineffective the structure we operate as a country is in tackling the most basic of national challenges. |
akan102:Which drugs?. Haven't you heard that there are no drug discoveries to treat Covid 19 directly or are you from Neptune.? What they treat are the symptoms of the virus which manifests differently in different people. For some the symptoms are a fever, others breathing problems, while in others it may be inflamation. If you don't have any symptoms then you are kept there to avoid infecting others, spreading the virus, which is trying to correct the mistake the goverment made early on when it insisted on self quarantine which did not work. That is why the place of detention it is called an 'Isolation Centre'. In the western world there are no isolation centres just hospitals to treat patients who have exhibited symptoms. There even if you are positive you are advised to stay at home in self isolation until you become unwell or get better. Here once you are positive you are picked up and taken to the IC whether you have symptoms or not. Our system is different. What is so hard for Nigerians to understand in this. If the lady is still positive though asymptomatic and she returns home and infects others who then go on to become ill and die, the same public will change tune and accuse the goverment of negligence. It was the yearnings of people like us for all positive cases to be quarantined mandatorily that has kept this woman away from infecting a lot more people. Nigerians should use their brains and not plunge this country into further crises by accusing goverment of unethical practices and unlawful detention. That is foolish. |
See mass hypocrisy from page 1. See them all pretending they give a hoot about the Niger Delta. Then when they have a choice they vote enmasse for the status quo and insult anyone advocating for real change. That is when they join their people of like minds to say restructuring is not the problem but equitable allocation of resources, an utopia they cannot achieve. Then behind the scenes they wiggke for their own cut of the largesse. Deceitful citizens. |
Exc2000:Then why do you folks keep supporting them. They constantly show their hand, constantly prove that they are not after change but are status quo defenders, innovation antagonists. But when they are called to question people throw away all reasoning and defend them as if their lives depend on it, branding the critics unpatriotic. When will the citizens of this country come together to agree on values, on what good governance and bad governance is. |
Metalsmith:Personal interests my brother.... personal interests.... a party bigwig or presidential aide needs palliatives. .. |
psucc:Hahahahaha.... that's what you get in a rent seeking economy.....contractor's paradise. |
