What is wrong with this government for heavens sake. What on earth is its problem with and intolerance of public protest. Is this n8t a democracy again. The Judiciary has instructed that this man be released. The Judiciary is government as well. They are the custodians of the laws of the land and a refusal to obey laws undermines the Executive and strengthens those who want anarchy. I repeat. This government has a lifespan of three and a half years. The fallout of this can and will last for years to come and Nigerians may pay a high price to correct the wrongs we see today long after the present actors are gone. |
gaetano:Oga, it is not about form alone but pedigree. Everyone who has won a tournament cup especially in the recent past is rated and seeded because they are expected to win it. Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Spain, France will go into any World Cup expecting to win it not coming third or fourth no matter how long ago they won the Cup and the circumstances of their present situation. This man cannot do better than what you have seen. I am a keen manager of men and I know when competencies have peaked. This man cannot do better than this, believe me. |
Good. He should take the job and leave us alone. We have seen a full cycle of Nations Cup and World Cup Tourneys under his charge and there are glaring irredeemable lapses in his management. We deserve better and can get better. Our ambitions should be far higher that a group stage World Cup exit and a Nations Cup semi-final placing. We have done better than both in the past so it is clear he is unable to rise beyond this present level. |
Wizklynd23:Silly man. Who is terrorising who. Who is doing the killing and who are the casualties. Anything to maintain the status quo and the comforts of your oppressors is alright with you oh failed citizen. Go to Hong Kong and see those who know what it means to be responsible, enlightened and goal getting citizens. |
Enyimbamercedes:Honestly it begs reasoning... just sad. At least there is no Saraki to blame this time around. No Saraki to harangue and harass him to do what is right and proper in the best interest of the country. Nigerians should enjoy their elected officials. We will all learn the hard way how and whom to elect the next time around. I said in 2014 that the best we will get after 8years will be cosmetic improvements to the nation, no deep seated, fundamental, progressive changes. I guess I was even overly optimistic then. |
As long as its done in love, which also means a respect for the souls and sensibilities around you. The only thing the devil brought into this world is sin. The music you dance to, the body you gyrate is all created by God. |
The PDP there has oulived its usefulness but the people insist on flogging a dead horse. They should enjoy it. |
stagger:What Jesus did that is not happening today is that very little is being built, and I mean the quality of individuals. The key to Christianity is discipleship. That is the ability to take a man from the grassroots (quite literaly) teaching him, empowering him and sending him out to project values. It simply does not exist in the Nigerian church. This is a discussion I have had with a pastor and blood brother after me. What we have are colonies of various denominational groupings seeking to create utopian islands under their control which seek to increasingly isolate their 'members' from the world while trying to attract new members. The idea of trying to have a church state or a church empire is not bad in principle but I donot think the notion of 'in this world but not of the world' as is being practiced today in Nigeria is what Jesus aspired to do becuase he also said 'we are the salt of the earth'. And what is the value of salt if it is not mixed in with or applied to something. What impact has the church made in the prospects, the aspirations of nation Nigeria. How many times have you heard folks complaining about how other religions dominate and how christians compromise and melt into nothingness in the face of challenges. How many times have you heard comlpaints about the number two man in Nigeria. There is something obviously wrong and not working with the way religion including christianity is set up to work or not to work for the country and the peoples of Nigeria in particular. For example there are folks no matter what needs to be fixed on their automoblies prefer the job be done in their homes or offices and under their watch They will never take their vehicles to an autoshop for various reasons while others insist to get the best it needs to be done there. Similarly there are those who feel that religion not projected, felt, appreciated and positively impactful on society in general is not right. While others feel it is okay to build oasis and islands of religious 'tranquility' in the midst of the stormy world is what God meant. |
Dov3:I totally disagree. The Nigerian church is doing a lot for academic progress, but absolutely nothing for social progress. As a matter of fact deep within its core DNA is the reason why it is making absulutely no impact on society: 'that is a mixture of a misunderstood notion of total subsmission to authority and a total dependence on authority for sustenance.' Read the above line very carefully. The Nigerian church shadows the government in a desire to mind control and destiny drive the average citizen or parishioner (in each case). I have often talked about the government being a huge feudal machine that expects citizens to be subjects. To totally obey, have no alternate views and aspirations. Well the church and particularly the new generation pentecostal single ownership structures that abound exemplify this. The problems with that is the citizen parishioner over time has become accostomed to 'total obedience and fearful submission' without questioning and without aspirations or alternate ideas that it has made him a less than productive individual. As parisoners depend on their GO's and pastors and priests for everything so they depend on their senators, governors and prwsidents to do everything for them. It should not be so. Just as Jesus preached, anointed and said 'go and become...' so political leaders in Nigeria should empower citizens and send them out to enterprise. But the feudal nature of both sets donot want this as they feel they will ultimately loose patronage, power and perks. It is ungodly. The Jesus I know did not save us only to become enslaved to another set of rulers but to maximise the potentials for which we were created. This has been my stand both politically and in aspects concerning faith. |
The problem with 'religion' though is the shutting down of critical reasoning amongst its adherents which causes extreme behaviour that perpetuates bad leadership such as a tendency to violence on one extreme and extreme docility on the other. That is why the argument of mixing religion with state affairs and politics always arises which should not be. Religion is meant to enhance the inherent quality of citizenship which reflects in the quality of leadershio. Without good quality citizens you cannot have good quality leaders. Who chooses leaders for goodness sake, who empowers and sustains them... the citizens, the religious citizens of course. No one can simply rise up and take leadership without the suppprt of the average citizen. To have good quality citizens you need to have an educated and inspired citizenship. These empirical values stand against what most functions of modern day religion projects. When and how does faith and reality meet and mix. How can you build a better now if your eyes are set ONLY ON HEAVEN OR THE THEREAFTER. |
Okay. So corruption is no longer the biggest threat to this country.... Said enough for years.... enjoy your country. |
Hmm..... the Nigeria Police is in trouble. They will simply ban it than watch El-Zaky's militant supporters fly over them. |
You know education is becoming a serious concern when someone 'invents' what already exists. |
Their parents should be tracked down, arrested and made to pay a fine or do community service for this rising societal menace. New legislation is required to move this generation back to the standards of years past. We simply cannot continue in this situation of wanton irresponsibility. If you have no plans for the children you sire and have no desire whatsoever to inculcate the minimum level of morality and fidelity in them then you should pay dearly for society's role in cleaning up your mess. |
Is there any five star hotel in Nigeria.... |
Africa... oh my Africa. The only continent that has never and will perhaps never dominate the world. The moddle east has had their time, the West has had its time and now the East is rising... Africa, the only continent totally conquered from tip to toe but even in the height if the great Egyptian empire of antiquity never was able to cross even the Red Sea to conquer is neighbours.... If brother cannot agree with brother to build a simple dwelling, how will communities agree to build a strong nation, how can nations agree to build a strong, world conquering and world dominating continent. Every African has in his DNA a gene of avarice, discord and strife... of reckless pride and debilitating greed..... of mediocrity and failure... |
This road again!!!!..... is this a pan-Nigeria forum or we rename it Lagosland or better still Badagry Blues....We are simply not interested. Find the memo. |
Bolustical:They are in a better place being not part of this tragedy unfoldng. I think tbe joke is on you. Nothing in this government looks attractive to want any sensible, dynamic and goal getting person to desire to be a part of except personal gain. Thank goodness Mr Saraki is not there to be blamed for this maladministration we are witnessing. Let them continue sending messages of tardiness to those who will have expressed interest in investing. It is folks like you who will grope in the poverty you stew. Mr President doesn't want to engage hands whose mandate it is to implement policy to move this country forward. He is only interested in getting approvals for spending money. Typical, habitual Nigerian mentality. |
Democracy is dead there....the PDP since 1999.... what do you expect. |
.... hmmm.... so they were do desperate to sign this 'Guardiola' Rohr that a 1 million dollar pre nup had to be agreed. Personally I don't mind contributing a few naira to get him out and I am willing to throw in child support for Daniel Akpeyi and a few others. He can take his kids along. |
Look you guys, we are tired of all this nonsense. Is this the only road in Nigeria. Why Lagos/Badagry highway posts everyday. Why can't you channel your efforts to the government and monarchy you have kept in power since 1999. When elections come you wade through the mud to go vote them back again and insult anyone who has a contrary opinion to the whole charade. Abeg. |
shockwave91:Scam of the century. How can you invest in a mercenary that will jump ship at the slightest opportunity. He should be sacked immediately. We need the impatience of tbe trophy hungry Real Madrids and Manchester City's of this world not the tardiness of Arsenal at work if not top four will become our glass ceiling. Can you imagine the ambition less NFF giving him a target of only the semi finals in the Nations Cup aka top four... a whole Nigeria.... |
No sir, you did not. You used racing pigeons to deliver electoral proceedings.... |
No comment. Said enough for years.... Nigerians should enjoy the country they made. |
GISpro:So because a convoy was blocked and pelted with stones a thousand people should die. You must be very silly to out it mildly. Please join the military with your entire family and clan when this thing goes south. I will have no pity for any government security official who does not obey laws when anarchy starts and he falls victim. Remember, some unknown mobile police men shot dead the leader of the now dreaded Boko Haram insurgents while under custody a number of years ago. We cannot recollect who did the extra-judicial killings but today hundreds if not thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen have lost their lives and a couple of trillion naira has been spent trying to contain what will have been sorted out by a constable in the police station and a magistrate in a local court room in a far away community in Katsina all those years ago. Our leaders clearly are not bright neither are they endowed with foresight or critical thinking. Mr Chief of Army Staff will long be retired to his village when this country will be paying for his tragic error with tears, blood and treasure. |
Hmmm..... that will mean loss of revenue for all... clubs, the FA, and tv rights owners/broadcasters who have milked players and the game for years. Expect a lot of murmur. |
The crowd observing from the building in the first pic should not consider themselves to be in Camp Nou. Somewhere in the worn out concrete balcony, substandard materials are crying to be liberated from the oppression of its miserly owner and will cave in at anytime. |
genq:Domestic servants are a global phenomenon since the time of Abraham who had them in the hundreds. Middle class families from the States through Europe to the Middle East and Asia have them taking care of the kids and doing the dishes whether on a part time basis or live-in capacity so I donot know where you get your information from. Domestic helps form the vast majority of immigrants both legal and illegal in the developed world. Who do you think they serve....the Presidents and Prime Ministers? The fact that it sometimes fails is no reason to castigate middle calss working families particularly womes who form the bedrock of the economic machinery of any country. I know several working women, managers, surgeons, business people who work crazy long hours every week to keep things moving. Clearly they need help and should not be punished by an increasingly wayward society rife with loose morals. |
eddiebruk:Oga. This is not what they are supposed to be doing. If you donot know the functions of elected representatives then you are just as dangerous to this country as sycophants. |
Totally agree. We must come together round a table and discuss our corporate existence. Violence of any kind starts with a breakdown in communication and a failure to discourse. The level of mutual suspicion in this country is seriously worrisome. |
A spirit, The Spirit is a personality while the soul is just a state, a realm, the interface between the mind of a man and that of God. You may call it a spiritual modem. |
CrimeKsmart:No sir. You are not concerned about the killings. Your post started and ended with your mindset. That is why this country cannot move forward. Objectivity is always sacrificed on the altar of tribalism to constantly placate sectionalism in the guise of nationalism. |
