Politics › Re: Fighting Corruption Not An Economic Policy; Peter Obi To Buhari by Reference(m): 9:34am On Dec 13, 2018
gaskiyamagana:
Someone contesting as running mate to the Presidential office of Nigeria saying fighting corruption is not an economic policy. Another Jonathan in making " stealing is not corruption".
PDP are bird of same feather when it comes to corruption matters
It is not an economic policy. It is not an act of government. It is normal process of institution building. No one sets up business with the sole purpose of preventing stealing. Have you ever heard an entrepreneur come up to reply when asked what his inspiration was in setting up enterprise, say "I set up Microsoft so that no one can steal my ideas". That is silly, stupid and crazy. Of course he will put measures and systems in place to prevent theft but it can never be his focus. We elect leaders to inspire us and to congregate ideas for the development of society. Yes, they should put measures in place to safe guard ideas and protect against loss but this is not the focus, that is the job of institutions.

What this government has done by usurping the functioning of institutions has made corruption even more difficult to fight as those who are corrupt have traded their freedom for support of the government making those whom they hitherto dined with but who refused to join up even more vocal and intransigent. And the battle for all intents is lost.

I said it then at the height of the currency crunch that Nigeria was going to lose a key opportunity to diversify the economy if it continued to subsidize the naira. Two years later with a subsidized naira we are poorer and more dependent than ever on oil. Guess what, the great political capital the government had then which it should have used to expend on solid but painful economic reforms it squandered away on chasing individuals (a job for institutions). Today the political capital is gone and it cannot make headway on diversification, on petro subsidy, on reducing the cost of government without a fear of losing power.

Is this not clear enough for you what an economic policy framework surrounds. I guarantee you, by 2023 this government will not have left a better Nigeria than it met if it does not wake up and begin to strategize. Let it leave its mandate and be busy chasing individuals around. We will see.

Thank you sir. After almost 4 years of so called anti-corruption Nigeria has nothing to show for it. Record debts, economic stagnation and of course unending stories of corruptuon. False narrative, failed strategy. This country needs ideas to run it not propaganda. No one has prospered by the numbers of bars in his burglar proof but by his capacity to turn a problem to a profit. When all the loot has been recovered and the excuses are ended let us see what news will be sold to the public.
Politics › Re: 2019: IDPs in Niger, Chad to vote, says INEC by Reference(m): 8:24am On Dec 13, 2018
I thought INEC turned down diasporan voting a while ago. So what happened. Now if displaced Nigerians in Niger and Chad can vote what about those displaced to Benin. Togo and Ghana. What about those displaced to South Africa, Malaysia and the United States.

This is not fair, equitable and does not show that these agencies are impartial neither independent... so sorry for this country.

Better do. All these shenanigans have an expiry date. By 2023 if you cannot properly institutionalise then its curtains for the APC as a party because it is clear that the only glue holding this laminate together is Mr. Buhari and when he is done with office and influence so will the constituent parts dissolve into their individual pre 2014 components and that will be such a bad set back for the consolidation of power and the deepening of the democratic process in Nigeria. One thing is clear, win or lose the fight for the soul of the party once the elections are over will not make for Saturday Night Live.

I have refrained from commenting on the views of various religious leaders in this season of politics but I think they should know this:

Steer clear of politics in all forms. The Kingdom of God has no meeting point whatsoever from your pulpits with the kingdom of men. The fact that men and women troop to your programs in great need shows that the kingdom of men is failing fast. And if you have a better promise based on the sound Word of God why should you seek something of lower or worse quality.

Look at the life of Jesus. Never did he seek the officials of the land to ask one favour or make one demand or the other no matter how pressing were the needs or how treacherous were the times but several entreaties were made of Him and it is in this wisdom you servants of God will make the needed impact.

Why can't finances be raised from the sheep of the flock, why from politicians. Why can't you be satisfied and contented with the riches of His people, the wisdom of His flock and the abundant power and influence those that believe can bring to the table. I cannot imagine that God, our Father will be pleased to see His children carrying begging bowls out to the streets and into the houses of His enemies when He is known and boasts that He is an All Sufficient God.

I cannot imagine our Father in heaven pleased when you seek leaders of the kingdom of men to peddle influence when He is known as the All Powerful God. Whatever you lack you ask Him for it and He will command them after you. Whatever you want to happen make it happen by empowering your people, the sheep of your pasture to become by sound teaching.

You donot need the world, the world needs you. The scriptures say that the world is waiting in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God. So your job in the workshop is to raise men to become the shinning lights not chase after helpless, hopeless men in this sinking and fading world. You are the rescuer not the victim here.

Shalom.
Politics › Re: 2019: Kwankwaso Is 'politically Crippled' - Ganduje by Reference(m): 3:05pm On Dec 12, 2018
In 2014 I am sure no one will have expected to see a person like this by 2018. This anti corruption fight simply cannot be won by mere propaganda. If the man was told to look for the money to build his state why will he be stuffing it in his pockets... afterall he raised the money.

On the other hand if the United States were to operate like Nigeria Ganduje will probably get an annual allocation of some 50 billion dollars (simply: 4.6 trillion Fed Budget x 0.6 rev share / 50 states) or some 18 trillion naira. Tell me which man on earth will not be tempted to take some when he did nothing to labour for it and he is virtually unaccountable to any one... and of course has the full backing of a person like President Trump....tell me.

The fact that this government has not the slightest consideration for restructuring since it was elected but goes around casting aspersions on its opponents is just crazy to say the least. I cannot for the life of me understand how this government expects to win the war against menacing swamp bugs without first draining the swamp. Are we this dull or hopelessly dishonest in this country.

So you have Ganduje ably repesenting the achievements of this government and openly proving time after time he appears publicaly that it is highly mistaken if it thinks it can win this fight. He is embarrassing this government and someone must tell him to remain in purdah till the ill wind blows over.

Why is this woman wasting her time biko
She is not wasting her time. She is doing what most of you folks are either too scared or too ignorant to do. No one is interested in her candidature, no one is interested in the idol worship of any one candidate for that matter but I support anything that will shake the tree of democracy so that those nut eating squirrels may fall out and scamper to hiding.

It is the processes and the institutions that hold value to us and she is helping in shaping, building and strengthening them. When the debates come you will see so clearly and unfortunately that it is those who have little chance that have the best vision and ideas on how to drive this sorry country forward. So continue mocking instead of lamenting and regreting why your country repeatedly gives you a choice between bad and worse at every opportunity of true change, progress and development. You must weep oh.

Keep on preaching despite the adversity.

At least one will come to their senses one day. We are all the cause of these problems, the society. Until we uplift the welfare of the girl child and empower the female gender, these things will continue to happen. Our society is terribly skewed. It strengthens the strong and weakens the weak.

It is the woman who cares for the kids, it is the woman who cares for the home, it is the woman who cares for the aged parents yet it is the woman left out when the fruits of society are shared. Pity.

And I hope this money will turn Nigeria to the Switzerland where the money came from as they have promised since they say this is the only priblem besetting Nigeria.

For Nigerians: This is the last you will ever hear of this. The funds will go into the bottomless pit of Nigerian finances and disappear without a trace and without an impact because no matter how much funding a bad business gets it will never yield profit. The Nigerian structure is bad business. It has never worked and can never work.

The narrative this government should propel is one of restructuring. But they have succeeded in blinding the public with the false propaganda of loot recovery to avoid the more important narrative of restructuring because it will dissolve the status quo with un intended consequences to the owners of Nigeria.

Bookmark this. With all the so called recoveries and anti corruption, by 2023 let us see whether Nigeria will be a better or more developed, progressive society.

tatibillion:
It’s only months before election that Nigerians remember their rights or remember their struggle. Only every 4 years.
Very few Nigerians understand how democracy works. They buy into the propaganda of leadership and leave everything to folks who are not significantly better than them to do everything for them. They donot realise that elections like weddings donot define marriages. Case in study, how many promises of the present government in the 2014 run up have been fulfilled. Virtually none. Why. No one to drive the process through. No catalyst for development. The same propaganda of promises is the same propaganda of excuses and here they come again towards 2019.

To make matters worse, the power to take it all back, the threat to take it all back is lost on weak multimedia vox populi, weaker civil society groupings and the weakest political opposition parties you can ever imagine, all cowed by a rampaging security establishment operating under the cover of dodgy anti press and so called ' anti hate speech' laws, often cheered ignorantly by the public. This is the result. An unaccountable government that has promised much but delivered very little.

I once told a friend that the few achievements this government can boast of have come at a price of great criticism and personal cost to the few individuals concerned. Is it the war in the north where there are endless denials and equipment provided only after harsh criticism of some military tragedies. Is it the constant hounding of the secretive NNPC, and numerous corruption cases from the presidency to various parastatals, all attended to under duress from bold and vocal individuals, etc.

Nothing can be achieved in an atmosphere of socio-political indifference. No individual leader can do what is good, right and true in a vacuum. Everyone needs pressure, competition and adversity to perform. Everyone.

If you don't set the ball rolling towards restructuring you will leave this country worse than you met it even if you have ten tenures in government. Continue repatrating loot. When that is all done you will realise how mistaken you have been.

Perhaps both. For Madrid to be this silent means they are busy stashing a massive war chest the likes of which we have not seen before. I trust Perez and financial fair play is on their side. I won't be surprised to see a 200 million dollar player purchase next summer. Their bank balance is awesome plus the spanish banks on their side.

To become ultimately successful for footballing reasons you need to go to Spain. If Luka had remained at Tottenham he will never have been voted world best even if he won ten world cups. And with the two top clubs there is plenty of money to go round no thanks to the skewed revenue sharing formula in La Liga. Real could easily double his already massive wages. Also at 27 this may behis final chance as value drops off a cliff once a player nears the big 30.... and the coast is clear. Madrid needs new impetus, new players, and a breath of fresh locker room air.

Why is no one considering the damage these ladies cause to children and the psychological trauma delivered straight the adult male folk. It is when the weak amongst us react negatively and you hear cases of molestation will society wake up to attack the symptoms while leaving the causes to thrive.

Now to have the APC take over means handing the state back to Senator Akpabio.... a far worse proposition. So either the APC quickly broadens its base and liquifies Akpabio's power base or forget about taking power. He is too much of a controversial figure.
