Don't say that. The American government takes a lot of stick as far as gun control is concerned and even the gun lobbyists will have one or two things to say about Last Vegas PD. Government taking the stick is a global practice. They are the custodians of law and order. |

SalamRushdie: Yes I did because I fell for the myth without doing my own research ..If I knew what I know now there is no way I would have voted for him And it means four years of lost opportunity for Nigerians to truly develop. I said it in the run up to elections. That the only way to guarantee progress and all the lofty promises made by politicians is for the people to be enlightened and empowered. It is the guarantor that power does not corrupt leadership, but we chose to cast all our lot with just a single individual and elevate all our hopes to such dizzying heights issues are bound to arise. because there is no individual aspiring for leadership that doesn't have a background and history. They are of a religion, a tribe, a social class, a geo-political zone so they will have allegiances and leanings and tendencies. You cannot build a nation on such sentiments. so the people have to be able of checking these by constant demands for what is right. But that is all sold out and we can only hope the man will do what is right. But hope is not what a citizenry should have. It should have a right, power and authority. Afterall this is a democracy and not an absolute monarchy. |

Fighting corruption isn't about setting EFCC after offenders only. That is why we say restructuring is the only way out and fighting corruption in this setting is akin to using insecticide in a swamp.... just a waste of time. |

TonyeBarcanista: Well, NNPC GMD, Petroleum Minister and Minister of State are political appointments. So, a lot of interest is involved and to politicians/interest groups, corporate governance comes second. And interest is the corporate name for corruption. Can anyone be interested in a venture for which there is no gain. You can steal directly or by proxy and this is what most folks in leadership do. When we say restructure it will put in place mechanisms by which those in leadership will jump through hoops to appoint complete strangers. Who doesn't know Kupolokun stole for OBJ, Denzaini stole for GEJ and Baru is stealing for PMB. It is the system that guarantees corruption and it is the system that must be changed. |
Politics › Re: Ibe Kachikwu Exposes Maikanti Baru Through His Letter To Buhari (Pictured) by Reference(m): 9:31am On Oct 04, 2017 |
TonyeBarcanista: Here is the catch...
NNPC GMD is the Boss in NNPC and all its subsidiaries. Petroleum Minister is the Boss in the Petroleum sector that supervises the NNPC and all other parastatals under it and ensure they all comply with government overall policies and directives.
The NNPC GMD is Bari
The NNPC Minister that supervises Baru is Muhammadu Buhari...
Kachukwu, the minister of state is more like a minister without portfolio. Yes, he carries minister title but in reality he supervises NO ministry. All he does is do as delegated by the boss- the minister.
Hence, the GMD can decide to work directly with the minister while the Minister of state whines like a crybaby. Pushing Kachukwu to minister of state was a "smart" move to have Baba and his kinsman control the sector.
Before you scream tribalism, this is like a norm in Nigeria....
Presidents always ensure that their kinsmen take FULL control of oil sector
When Obj was President, he was the Petroleum Minister and Gaius Obaseki, a kinsman of Stella Obasanjo was the GMD.. In his second term it was Funsho Kupolokun that was GMD while he remained petroleum minister.
Yaradua appointed Rilwanu Lukman (North) as Petroleum Minister. His NNPC GMD were Mihammed Sanusi Bakindo an Abubakar Yar'Adua
GEJ appointed Diezanni from Bayelsa like him as Petroleum Minister though he was "fair" to concede NNPC to the North So what has changed from government to government. The same corruption theme runs through them all. Indeed by 2019 everyone will be demystified. |

Can you imagine this. As long as you were actively involved in government you must give account of the power and privileges enjoyed. Nominations, contracts, lobbying all attract scrutiny. Not to talk about all the financial impropriety. Madam if Obama's wife did a fraction of what you did her husband will certainly not have finished his term in office and you will have long been in jail. The fact that you are not is just because of the covering your husband provides and the desire not to overheat the polity by a gentleman's agreement not to hound past leaders. The best thing you can do is to endure it till the end of the administration in absolute silence. For you to live a normal life now is just wishful thinking. You caused it. |

What should they have said....that he had a migrane or is high on crack. Most sportmen who have had similar issues had their reports released by their teams', management company or agents. As a matter of fact if such details are hidden and later found out the club or team can sue the athlete heavily for damages because it pays a lot of insurance on behalf of the athlete. When Kanu had the heart problem Internazionale Milano did not hesitate to disclose it. Who wants trouble. If Eboue collapses on the field tomorrow the club is in soup at autopsy. |

kjhova: As we speak, at least 300 "Catalunyans" lie in various hospital beds as victims of the brutality of the Spanish state police. Many of the leaders who called this referendum have been rounded up and the referendum itself failed essentially. What was the point to these whole brouhaha again? To achieve an independent Catalunyan state or just to satisfy personal political chest beating?
No normal nation will willingly disintegrate. The state will be obliged to deploy all violent means to subdue the secessionists. It is the ignorant man in the streets of the so-called Catalunya or Biafra that will get smashed by security forces while their leaders "escape" or willingly surrender.
There is a lesson here for Biafrans (whoever are so-called). The much touted UN Charter on the rights of indigenous peoples is a doctrine set in the 1940s which no nation on Earth will ever commit her troops to enforce. There are many secessionist agitations on Earth and none has any serious UN support. The idea that the USA or the UN will eagerly back you to disintegrate Nigeria is borderline delusional and you must never blindly enter into war situation with Nigeria on such premise. Such foolishness has been contracted en mass before in the 1960s and then Biafra knly got support from dead and dying nations like Gabon, CIV, Haiti and Tanzania.
We have advised you before and will advise you again. Stop chest beating, quit the brawn and start utilizing your brains...and your agitation may one day see fruition.
Continue with the IPOB methods with tacit support from the many Abaribes in Eastern politics and realize only too late that such folly only brings death and destruction. Just wasting your time. Read your history very well. There is none, absolutely no single desire for self determination that has ceased. If you think the Catalonians, the Irish, the Biafrans, Western Sahara, etc will go away, then you must be joking. Nations are held together by deals, not force or the threat of it. South Sudan left. The UK is leaving the E.U. What are you saying. It will never go away as long as the conditions which fuel the agitation remain. |
