banmee:So you have forgotten campaign promises. Just pretend you didn't see this thread and ghost mode. This was the major yardstick to judge this adminstration. Mr President said so himself. And I want to believe government is in charge of stuff in this country. We expect to hear from Magu or the ICPC or the police on this matter if diversion is indeed corruption. We are talking about billions here not just a sack of Saudi dates. |
I am dead certain that even the most loyal supporters of Mr President wish he could have handled this matter differently and the lack of strategic thinking that started with Abacha and the Ogonis, Obasanjo and the Niger-Delta, Yaradua and the Boko movement, Jonathan and the full blown insurgency continues. Mistake upon mistake. Making perfectly benign situations considerably worse just to please and tow the line of certain narrow clandestine interests masquerading as national. |
Could have been summarized as RESTRUCTURING.... Moreover the headline is totally different from the body.. Dahiru usman seeks restructuring.. could have been less tense, more appropriate, less domineering and more peaceful..[/quote My suggestion for several years but has been resisted until even that opportunity's is fast fading with every passing year. Anyway neither do they want that. Ask for restructuring and they tell you, you have elected representatives so what is your complaint. The bottom line is that they are comfortable with Nigeria, it is heading in the direction they want and quite frankly cannot see anything better than this. So they want the status quo maintained. And are prepared to go to war to protect their interests. I repeat again. How you react when your wife asks for a divorce tells so much about the relationship. If she was the two timing pain in the neck you will 'praise the Lord' but if you were the lazy boned 'horseband you will kick like one. |
Once again I ask the question. Does the question for self determination equate to war. Who is fighting who. Have the Igbo's said they want war or they want their own country. If there is anyone prepared to do the fighting and warring it is Nigeria and they should give serious reasons why they fight to keep the geographical entity but cannot fight for the equitable rights and prosperity of its people. The Sheikhs assertions that critical mass is a criterion for unity is just laughable. A father that cannot care for his many children leaving some in misery has no business fighting for his family name for he is already naked before his clans men whom the children run to for succor. Japan has a population one twentieth that of China yet it was just recently overtaken in size of its productivity being an economic superpower for decades past. Everyday you hear news about Nigerians in diaspora mainly for the wrong reasons in increasing intensity and more dying to get there. Are these not symptomatic of a failed country. Who is fighting for what. |
They will come for him when he least expects it. Now that some of their prized assets are lost, they will want payback and revenge is quite frankly....best served cold....as in the dead of night. |
When is corruption going to end in this country?! Naija my nation, even With ordinary fruit they can't remain faithful, what if it is many plates of some Barbecue fish?!
Corruption can never end. I have told you so many times before. |
MidasTouche01:You are equally wrong (no pun intended) for I cannot imagine who is the child or short dude than needs a taller stool to 'attain'. This is the problem that the women folk have to overcome. Women are NOT disadvantaged in anyway by creation. They are not inferior by default for God does not make mistakes Thus they donot need affirmative action. The world is simply not focused in their direction and is not exploiting their potentials, period. It is the world that is losing. |
Daboomb:You are partly wrong. They donot universally have an inferiority mentality. The facts are often clear in black and white. What I think they desire amongst many things is to be treated equally at work, in the home, etc. In terms of opportunity, equal pay for equal work, discrimination based on gender and on and on. There are real empirical stats to back up claims that women are not given a fair deal in many instances globally. This is absolutely true and absolutely wrong. Returning to my example. If for instance you feel women are complimentary and necessary tools to getting the 'tasks' of life done will you as a carpenter treat your hammer differently from your saw. I mean will you spend more on one than the other, will you treat one with respect and ignore the other. After the day's work will you clean, polish and carefully store one and leave the other lying in the mud... will you accomplish your task that way. I think the attitude we have to the roles and responsibilities of both sexes will go along way in determining our future accomplishments and prosperity. No wonder Africa remains behind. While other countries maximise the potentials God has given both sexes we are like a 4 cylinder engine having two blown plugs. How can you possibly keep up in the race of life. |
Gender wahala. One of the great debates of our time. But one with a lot of misconceptions and this is yet another. Terminologies such as equal, different, better are often used improperly in trying to convey certain perspectives. I like to use practical examples in trying to paint my views. So here I go: I will like to exemplify man and woman to be the currencies United States dollar and British pound respectively (or the other way round if you suddenly become sentimental). Both are currencies of trade, commerce and exchange the same way the man and woman are human beings. Both intermingle on currency markets everyday in the billions the same way men and women interact. There the similarities or relationships end. Can we say one is superior to the other. If so, what makes it. Can we say they are equal to each other. If so what makes them. For most folks out there make the mistake of direct comparison but the facts are clear. The pound is the pound, the dollar is the dollar and if you are to be a successful international teader you need both. One cannot exist without intermingling with the other. What gives the dollar or pound its value like man or woman thus lies intrinsically. Today the nominal value of the pound is higher than the dollar, but the American economy which the dollar underpins is larger than the British so will you rather live in America or Britain. Most will prefer America, but a lot will say they prefer the quiet orderliness of Britain because not everything in life amounts to money and the argument goes on and on. So there is never going to be a sound argument that will favour one over the other or cause one to desire to be the other. And because of these 'merits' and 'demerits' occuring almost equally I rhink God is his wisdom created man and woman to be 'equal' but distinctly 'different'. Why then should Britain aspire to be like America or America aspire to have its dollar equal the pound when they have distinct qualities that simply cannot be shared. Man and woman have so, so many distinct qualities that simply cannot be shared, physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and on and on. And in such a balanced manner that it makes no one gender 'significantly better' than the other. So I see equality between man and woman as complimentary not as competitively because the issues of life are often not as simple, straight forward and predictable. I mean I have never seen a carpenter go to work with a hammer alone, or a farmer with a hoe alone or seamstress with a needle alone. It takes a whole lot of tools to get things done, all distinct from one another, all complimentary, none superior. This is what God thought in creating man and woman to do his work. A hammer will never want to be a saw. It cannot do the job, simple, but the job cannot be done without a hammer. We should quit these senseless arguments. Feminism and masculinity are just symptomatic of failed thinking. Man and woman are equal, just different. |
lofty900:For murder. Then you go around complaining how nothing works. |
NubiLove:Ladies are to be inspired, not impressed. |
NubiLove:I don't think so. The earings thing is a sign he too is all about 'things' and perhaps that is why the girl fled. A lot of men just think relationships are about 'things'.... Real quality women are not. Let us not assume for one minute that the lady is faulty and has lost it all. |
Afonjashapmouth:Hmmm....you're right in one or two ways.... because I can't imagine any relationships he will have now that will be thorough.... devoid of sentiment. So relationship wise he is no better off now than then. And I think he is full of it. If the atmosphere around you is all about what you have or donot have it questions your head and heart. For a man should be able to communicate, inspire and command. My fear for him now is that without these qualities he is of not much use to the proper girl...whenever she comes. |
This is beginning to look like a joke.... highly unprofessional |
In the end time, Satan will divert the attention of Christians away from the Word of God to symbolism, objects and eventually idols. Ask the children of Isreal out of Pharoah's Egypt. Little by little.... The instruction, the counsel, the law, the precepts of the Lord donot matter to them anymore...just the acts.... miracles and more miracles. I don't think the Lord has forgotten what happened to His people in the wilderness. He will intervene when the time is right to save them once more. |
sayentease:Most of those involved were of the 'intelligence' unit. To get there you must have special skills and a bit of grey matter. I think those heights are rarified for nepotism and sycophancy. It is not 'recruitment intake unit' but a deployment unit meaning that its members will probably not be there full time and for the entire length of their careers. This is the future way to fight crime. Less uniforms and more suits and starched ties, less check-points and more laboratories, less AK-47's and more drones, wiretaps and ground penetrating radars, less vestages of the British colonial policing policies and more of CSI..... hmmm.... if only horses were wishes..... sorry for the prospects of your dad. If all those wishes came true.... you couldn't come fifty yards near a bank with an AK or two years in planning to rob without being detected and apprehended. |
So after praising himself as an ace reporter able to 'scoop' stories he encountered the man and all he could do in his interview was 'pass judgement' with the objective of gaining attention. I don't think these people want to improve at all. We know the job does not pay well but a professional is a professional whose watch word should be excellence and in journalism a reporter's mission is defined by objectivity. He should have left opinions and emotions to columnists and analysts. If he watches and reads about ace reporters covering popular cases like this the question stream will include 'ifs' 'whys' and 'whats' and even if a cursory opinion is offered to stimulate response then it is done without emotional attachment, sounding officious and objective. The reporter is not a judge or a conveyor of popular public opinion if not the police has no business letting him near the suspect for he could be a potential threat. We should begin to do things professionally in this country even if we have local, cultural leanings and identities. We may be an outspoken race but decorum is universal. If they want to be ace they could take a cue from top, top investigative journalists and reporters such as Sakuur or Amanpour. They can be heady and nauseatingly in your face but you leave with an impression that it all ends there, that it is only skin deep. Even those who interviewed famous serial killers and stood in the corridor when Lee Harvey Oswald, the murderer of the beloved president JFK were not like this. The reporter should watch and learn from his colleagues after each day's activities and also pick up copies of Reader's Digest, a compedium of penetrative storytelling. Trying to report and being the consumer of your report is just professional round tripping. My doctor should have an objective opinion about my ilness, but he doesn't have the right to go emotionally jugemental on me. Let him leave that to my pastor. |
sarrki:As in trading on the road or clearing the traders.... racism will never wear an objective mask. |
ANIEXTY:Then change your appearanace and mannerism because if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck it has to be a sub-aquatic bird. No one needs to tell me what you look like. |
Ah, ah. So nau nau Chelsea title don expire.... kai football na real breeze.... vain glory... |
auntysimbiat:The are average to ugly. Can't see any beauty here. Just lumps of fat every wia. |
Till she was virtually decaying.... says a lot about your relationship with her..... failed marraige, failed pastor. And you still don't know why she took her life.... |
Corruption has won. And retains the crown as undisputed heavyweight champion of/in Nigeria.... |
hmbassey1960:And that Mr. is the genesis of it all relationships exist on mutual rspect. It does not exist in Nigeria so how can the country stand. You cannot force respect. Respect is not given, it is earned. If and when Igbos travel to Nigeria from thier own country, they will not 'drink beer in front of fasting faithfuls' as I'm sure they donot in Islamic countries and when they do they will be prepared to face the consequences like in South Africa, Malaysia, India and other countires where they face off against the law but in their so called country? Haba, you must be nuts. One party has as much right of existence as the other. It is like that in any relationship. Respect must be mutual. |
Oga long talk. Your summary, your recommendation is to maintain the status quo. You are of the 'better off together' group, which incidentally does not want to talk, sees fears rather than merits, and speaks of war. Who says a seperating must be by war. Who is warring who. If you feel both sides get to lose from a split, why should either side want to fight to seperate. Have the igbos said they want war' to leave Nigeria. If anyone wants to war. If anyone 'warred' in 1967 it was the Nigerian state. The east was INVADED and sacked. The war was not fought in the north. So it is the agressors not the defenders you should ask why the desperation to keep Nigeria one. If a wife says she wants to leave a marraige and the husband has absolutely nothing to benefit, the divorce is easy. When one party heads to court to defend their interests it is because very often he or she is the sole beneficiary of the turbukent relationship. The other party wants out for something better. The Igbos feel they are better off out of this relationship, why should the other party 'war' to keep it if it not abusive, selfish and inconsiderate. The rest of Nigeria has a stark choice, either improve the terms of the relationship or the desire to divorce will never go away. Freedom of existence and association is a God given right. Anything else is captivity and slavery. Nigeria has to improve and this improvement means restructuring, giving latitude to its constituemts to chart their future the way they feel. That is what holds nations like America together, unbridled freedoms. Drinking beer to tempt a muslim is too simplistic my dear. There are far more massive undercurrents of racism existing here. The population percentage of Igbos in Nigeria exceeds that of blacks in America yet the sons of slaves produced a President. What is wrong with Nigeria. Germany and Japan were aggressors, expantionists, facists in the second world war. Today they are the strongest allies of the west/america having been accepted, rebuilt and aided to be the top five economies. Did Biafra expand to the north. Did it invade the north. Dis ot sack northern villages, desecrate religious symbols, torture and imprison northern nationals? But their post war fate is worse than anything on earth. Worse than Iraq or Afghanistan politically and socially. What is wrong with Nigeria. Abeg, I no wan vex this morning. Just go back to your history and study for another ten years. We too have lived all over Nigeria. It is just not working. Nigeria is a mess right now. |
orlymat:And it is widely known that banks are fertile grounds for information and some bankers work hand in glove with these hoodlums to know who has what and track the movement of moneys in and out now that identities of account holders are centralised it is much easier to access ones entire portfolio across multiple accounts and banks including information on family members and associates. If not how can a man in captivity mandate the release of a million dollars if the kidnappers don't know someone else has access to that mandate and is authorised to release such funds meaning for high value targets at least two people who have access will be tracked, the main man picked up and the co/joint signatory left alone. Who provides this information..... banks. I think it is time the police up their game and go completely clandestine, set up stings in all banks and co-opt the public secretly to give information on suspicious bank managers, marketers and customer service officers. I will be doing same in the future. The risks are escalating every day. |
This is very silly and callous. They have no regards for the victims whatsoever but keep the names of the masterminds secure to 'negotiate'. Thus information should only come out at trial and in this highly sensitive case completely behind closed doors. Thanks NPF for giving kidnappers the same kind of publicity terrorists are given when their exploits are trumpeted. What is the gain in spreading such information. What is it expected to achieve.... nothing positive. |
If Nigeria does not restructure..... |
What is the silly man saying. You failed as a parent and have caused untold calamity to society. You told him to 'desist from illegal business'. What rubbish. Is that how to direct, is that how to teach?. If he wasn't caught will you speak out.... And if he doesn't listen to you who on earth will he listen to. Weak willed men, always blaming their wives. As if children are born criminals. While others are making masterpieces of their children you are here talking about how much money you had in your heydays. I can even see the block from which the unfortunate chip was expunged. |
But is Sermantech not a Liyel Imoke plc....anyway the said road had developed serious structural integrity problems....during the last rains. |
NwaAmaikpe:Other agencies including NAFDAC should do more of intelligence gathering and analysis and pass such information to the police for interception. Same as NDLEA in my opinion. Enough of this roadblock, 'checkpoint' mentality. Not even at the ports alone. Along highways and in other public places you see them line up one after the other and chances are you will have to pay for passage to them all. |
illicit: You don't say.... |
