Just shameful. Even the educated ines amongst them cannot extricate themselves from the beastly nature. |
doingood:Not totally true. Probably 5% due to productivity falls, but the rest due to a drop in smuggling. Thus is one major benefit of deregulation and internationalisation of domestic fuel prices. If it is near the prices in Niger, Benin, Chad and Cameroun it saves a huge chunk of our precious fx reserves. |
Complained of chest pain. In civilised countries they dial 911 and he will be alive today. In Nigeria you go to bed and wake up in the clouds. When are we going to move forward in this country and avoid unnecessary, avoidable tragedies.....when... |
What the heck's goon. People dropping like flies......maxed out, stressed out. |
'what has happened to the profits they have made in the past......'. Can you imagine. This government has a fetish with all this past. Past government, past external reserves, past excess crude, past corruption, now past profits should be the reason why companies should not downsize to 'protect the image of the government'. Crass stupidity. Haba. I have eaten in the morning so by tomorrow morning why should my stomach be rumbling. Why does it want to embarass me in public. When I was saying the artificial exchange rates will stiffle business and strangle the economy some ignorantly opposed. When the global economy tanked some 8 or 9 years ago the Americans and Europeans adopted stimulus to keep the economy running. The dollar weakened, inflation and debt rose but at the end of the day they emerged from them all, the dollar has strengthened since then, inflation fell and the debt is heading down gradually due to increased produtivity. Japan on the other hand has been grapling with decades of stagflation losing their number two global economic slot to China due to thier penchant for withdrawing into a shell when things go bad. They save more, spend less and cut down everything, leading to a viscious cycle of de-investment. Poverty is nothing to be scared about. The solutions are simple, increase productivity, invest to bring the cost of production down. That is the formula. In a recession you energise banks to stimulate the economy. In Nigeria they implemented TSA (right policy) at the wrong time further taking money out of the economy. TSA is for times of excess to control the evils of excesses not for times of lack when government should not be controlling business that creates wealth and provides jobs. Buhari was afraid that banks will be used as conduits to move looted funds out of the country and so froze the system. But in the economic world of today there are smart ways of achieving one without necessarily hurting the other. Now they have taken a worse step by victimising the same private sector needed to balance the budget, create jobs and stimulate the economy. These silly, unguarded, emotional outbursts by members of this government will only cause panic amongst the few investors left and further worsen the economic situation. |
iberu001:Don't mind them. A time is coming when a built up plot will be offered for 10,000 and no one will take it because it will cost more to hire a boat to retrieve whatever value is left. |
sucess001:Ignorant man. Instead of attending to the coming calamity of ocean rises in decades to come you are there making noise. The pacific islanders are already packing out. By the time you realise it the value of your property there will be next to nothing. I have made up my mind long ago not to buy anything on the island anymore and to sell all my holdings there by 2020. I ain't gonna be cut napping. That place won't exist in 50 years time. Nigerians are always too slow on the uptake. |
Who ever is saying this is exceedingly stupid. Can you just imagine this nonsense. The ECOWAS protocols allow gun wielding bandits to infiltrate your borders and sack your villages in the quest for their livelihood. Whose economy is their productivity accountable to. Which country's GDP do they represent as agents of destruction of ours. Trans border bullshit my ar..se. Let the south also permit infiltrations from Benin and Cameroun to project whatever agenda they have as well. What is good up north is good down south in this lopsided entity called Nigeria. If you see how Customs officers pursue to apprehend, there by maim and kill smugglers all over Ogun border towns in the west and along the Cross Riverean waterways to Bakassi and Cameroun you will be amazed. Is it not for the same economic reasons. Do these herdsmen pay import duty on the cows that pass through the borders and end up in our markets. Is this fair. Ogbeh is just silly. |
Bisjosh:If 10,000 makes a difference to you, I don't think you are qualified to travel abroad. |
And I hope you signed all his entitlement cheques this way before he passed on. |
Bolustic:His party has been in charge in Lagos since the advent of the fourth republic and the leaders of Lagos since then are party bigwigs pulling the strings.....incorruptibly too. |
Silly man. |
aventura:Don't be ignorant, radioactive poisonings as a weapon of assasination such as the use of plutonium are slow acting, taking several weeks to kill hence are extremely hard to detect. |
Let the Federal Government play along for now and push the moral burden back to the so-called South-South leaders. For them to ask for this clearly exposes the complex nature of the conflict and the need for new strategies to sift the wheat from the chaff down there. It proves leadership is a major problem there and part of the reson why this tragedy persists. The peoples of that region have got to do the purging themselves or else when the greater puzzle is solved it is they that will be left out in the cold. |
By 2019 everyone will be de-mystified....nothing new here. |
Only the evil last, the good never unless ultimately protected. The world has a way of sifting through its inhabitants and leaving tne chaff to procreate. Wonder why things constantly get worse everywhere...... |
My oh my. This is terrible. This country eh, this world sef, just endless pain and grief. Why. |
What the hell is this. Am I seeing stars. What is this...... ![]() |
Hell is when you sabotage government then demad performance, anyway it builds strong democratic muscles. |
AareOgbuefi:Abeg go siddon. Is there any sector in Nigeria that is over funded right now. Is education, infrastructure, the military, which one and what makes doctors more important than others to make them custodians of strike actions. You guys are just too greedy. You can't always get what you want and you never will, simply. The economy is depressed and it affects all. |
greatiyk4u:Of course on subsidies you guys defended but are too ashamed to accept now and senseless wars your guys once again are stoking by antagonising restive regions. Is this not it. And will it not leave a far worse economy by 2019, 4 years after Jonathan will have left if continued. Why are Nigerians so daft. |
Boxing?. Thought he was MMA. |
Anyone giving him a job should watch it. There must be something wrong somewhere, and my guess is that big, big word.....ATTITUDE, that could so easily make or break his employer. Academic success is just that and nothing more. A good brain is not the same as a good head. |
gateleo:Just shut it there. If it was their own property, the rest of Nigeria and her government will be paying rent. Does it. Is that not what the agitation has been all about. They ask for OWNERSHIP and you send bombs and guns there, shoot and kill them. Who owns the farms on which tomatoes are grown, who owns the tomatoes and who decides the price of tomatoes, now do the same for oil because it is someone's land just like the rest of Nigeria. Even indigenous Indians in America and Aborigines in Australasia have better rights to their lands than the people of the Delta. Abeg, stop trying to be clever by half. They don't want you on their land again and if you must, respect their views, that's all. I personally feel that a peoples united get a better mileage in life, the world is contracting rather than expanding, so I believe in Nigeria and possibilities it holds BUT, BUT, BUT.....NOT AT ANY COST. Everyone must belong, be treated equally, respected and contribute their own fair share of sufferings and blessings it holds. There must be social justice for all irrespective of tribe and religion and the government which represents her views and values must be accessible to all. There is a barometer which the US takes very seriously, that is 'the State of the Union'. It must be enshrined in our constitution and every Nigerian must be conscious of it, that he cannot take his gellow citizen for granted in any way and must be preoared to sacrifice everything including tribe and religion to ensure the union works. This is restructuring and I have advocated it for decades in public and years on this forum. Without it Nigeria cannot survive. It is not about them or us. It is about all of us or nothing. So when you open your mouth and say ' it is THEIR lands they are polluting', believe me it is music to the ears of them that want out of this country because they will tell you, that it is not your responsibility to sweep your neighbours compound. Such foolish thought and speech does this country no good. The people of the Delta should be entreated, cajoled, begged to come to terms with the rest of Nigeria, so does the peoples of the East. That is what a good husband does to the wife he is not able to satisfy, not threatened or beaten and vise versa. That is how good marraiges of old endured and prospered. That is how great unions and enterprises exist till this day, understanding, cooperation and solidarity. Tomorrow it may be the north or west that wants something that makes it want out. Similarly the rest should rally round and sympathise. Enough of this acidic rhethoric and let us unite as a proper family. Call them to table and talk in love for our collective good. We have bled enough. |
For a Head of Department his spoken english is surprisingly very poor and could not help breaking into local lingo. Not surprised on the other hand, where his priorities lie. |
Abeg, he should attend to his health properly. Everything else is absolutely secondary. If he goes the country will go on. Its not worth it. |
Oh, I thought he was speaking about restructuring the country. Oh well, nothing appears to be a priority...... |
saaedlee:Oh, I see, now a C-130 has now become a jet plane.....honestly, this country and her people eh. |
Slumped and died while flying a jet and they were able to recover a body for burial. Why can't reports ever be accurate in Nigeria. We know how Casius Clay died way over the pond. Here in Nigeria you are served improbable, undigestable balony constantly with the aim of reducing one's brain to spaghetti. |
Olufhemy:These are the kinds of topics that are of greatsst value to people in general. It js good to know things and share knowledge. The dislike for anthropology is one major fault line amongst Nigerians. We know very little about peoples, care less and suffer the consequences all the time. |
But why is she asleep right in the middle of her business cycle. If she cannot manage her time well then her priorities are not right. Most times it is a little bit of wisdom that people need to move to the next level, not always about money or the lack of it. |
stevedre:I think you should still vote the APC for now as there is no viable alternative. The PDP is yet to register on the radar and not for another year and a half or two. |
