duality:This is exactly why the anti-corruption war cannot be won. Not for lack of effort but by the subduction of sentiment. You can't prosecute it in the north because they are my people. You can't prosecute it in the west because there is where my support comes. You cannot prosecute it in the east because that is marginalisation. You cannot prosecute it in the south because that is my garri store....wither Naija. |
folks4luv:The way of suffering of course. That's why we say restructure first and corruption will die naturally. Okay Bruce, take your car to satisfy them. |
shamecurls:Right. So don't complain tomorrow about waste to want. You've taken a stand. What I expected is that since someone has courageously belled the cat, pressure will be mounted on others but alas the Nigerian populace, electorate must be....always sentiments above all. |
Sunnycliff:Thank you. When it is something they like they play party politics. When it is something they don't like they lump them altogether. Bruce is saying, 'Ask your Senator whatsup.' Some even want him to take his so that they can all be stained with the same brush. Change no reach Legislature. It is a one man crusade. Even family members don't buy into it. |
TrebleChamp:His party is the minority and by the way since when did you guys love the opposition. It is an APC controlled house, a PDP senator is taking a stand and he is being castigated and the APC senators collecting theirs are going free. What a twister. Do you guys want the cars or not. If you don't reply his question and ask your rep....if you dare. |
gen2briz:Why don't you ask the APC reps who are in the majority. Why didn't they reject theirs in the spirit of the change agenda. |
queenoflafia:Because your pet corrupteers will be shackled by this question. You have a rep. Oya answer. This is a direct tasking. |
Just like that. Hmmm. But he's right. You go to some banks and the bulk room is a disorderly mess especially the older banks. Why in this day and age you have no barrier between cashier and customer and the way some of these rooms are crowded out with cash strewn everywhere it is so easy for an organized group to plunder the place undetected. |
Jeans is our uniform. Cannot wear anything else. |
Quakertellicus1:When you are haemorraging investment and cannot attract replacements the last thing you need is to accentuate uncertainty. This anti-corruption thing is destroying the economy for scant benefits. If the government has no money to fund the budget and is just running down the clock it should say so and not leave the rest of us in uncertainty. We have a couple of Indians out there waiting on the stable exchange rate. The delayed budget doesn't help. |
Quakertellicus1:At the beginning the excuses are like ten paragraphs but now just two. Even you must be fed up. Admit it. Playing defence is energy sapping. Ask Ozil. |
Siena:I totally disagree with you. My dad would not touch a Japanese car in the 70's and 80's. I wouldn't touch a Korean in the 90's but Asian cars outnumber others 3 to 1 on our roads today. What is important for the manufacturer is direction and impetus. What is important for us is vision. If we can see it getting better and competing with the world believe me, it will. |
....the only thing trending in Nigeria, this...trial....comedy. |
dhesmond:Don't mind them. Doing financial kalo kalo instead of working. As I speak to you the various Ministers are busy locked in countless meetings with 'contractors' on how to share the coming budget in a quest to build infrastructure. The bulk of these firms are either internationals, multinationals or blue chip (I have good intel), whom are the greatest consumers of fx so expect even more downward pressure on the naira and more inflation when appropriation finally commences. Incidentally at the same time Nigeria looks for money to 'pay off' her massive army of youths for doing nothing. Why can't the government put two and two together and engage this army to build its infrastructure. |
Deen77:And when eventually you drop the Yuan won't the Chinese 'go after you'. Why not develop your own country so that it is us doing the bullying rather than jumping from bed to bed and it starts by being responsible both in words and deeds. This seeking of the easy way out, 'swapping' instead of working is not helping. Whether Yuan or Dollar, if you are not exporting you are done. I even prefer the dollar because there are many things the West at large won't sell to us, whereas China is the source of the toothpicks, rubber slippers and knockdown biscuits. Making trade easier with China is another nail in our coffin. We hate the truth that's why we hate the IMF, but let me see how we will take loans from China and shut their cheap knock-offs from flooding our markets. Our industries cannot price compete with the west, is it the Chinese industrial King Kongs we will overcome? |
samx4real:Go after facts not news. As a responsible citizen it is imperative that you know in detail what goes on around you so as to make informed decisions. Democracy is not exactly about shepherd and sheep. No leader is God Almighty. |
hungryboy:Yes, he is making a big, big lot of sense. The government is just running round in circles evading the real issues. |
Seun:Hmmm....which Seun is this. Nairaland CEO? |
Very tough. First you need to identify a niche and go epic in it. You must make excellence your watchword because the competition is fierce. There are two certain ways of actualising your vision to house the poor. Start by making the rich even more succesful. Develop choice property for them and use the profits to subsidise low income housing. The second is a far longer route, invest in the prime factors of production to lower your cost. Buy land in bulk, build a cement factory and other industries making building materials. Establish links for long term, low rate credit. You simply cannot go low cost sourcing from open markets. |
tuale4u:Then radicalization will increase. |
Said by 2019 everyone will be demystified. I wasn't expecting less, I know them very well and the class they belong to, all establishment figures. If the Idiagbon's could be stupendously rich who are the Buhari's. I want to challenge again. Amongst all the Ministers and Milad's who served his government between 1983 and 1985 which one of them is not a billionaire today or at the time of demise. Only restructuring of this country can work. We are just wasting our time. |
They played the fiddle while Rome burnt. Soon they will have nothing to govern but ashes. |
It is when parents start demanding that their children start marrying from either one of the APC or the PDP will I know that we are well and truly done. |
Well since he refused to step down, this is the result. Now the whole country loses. Nigerians are so, so slow. |
Those of you supporting Fayose on this had better think twice and do things in favour of your country and fellow country men. The product of opposition is the forward movement the ensuing debate brings and not blind actions that throw away the baby with the bath water. Granted the APC did a lot of bad things in dislodging the PDP but the PDP said before and should be found acting in a proper manner devoid of bitterness and retribution if not a downward spiral in our polity is certain. For the records I think the economic policy of this government is wack. You cannot freeze the currency market, denying investors free access and then go back to their countries cap in hand. For goodness sake investment is free while loans are yokes, but this is an opinion and no matter how loudly and widely spelt it is tantamount to war against your State to take physical steps to stop such. Fayose has crossed the line. John McCain before Trump was the harshest critic of Obama and the Democrats who went as far as expressing his views publicaly in Afghanistan and Syria but HE NEVER took the formal step of documenting such before those governments and peoples in such a manner as to undermine the White House, the military or his country. You just only donot wash dirty linen in public but you don't pack it in a suitcase and display it on the streets of Beijing. |
Quakertellicus1:That is it. You know the answer but you and your President won't admit it. Yet you look for another solution, just to argue. Liberalise the currency markets, period. How can it be worse than this. When you release FX controls those hoarding and speculating will loosen up. Those who are afraid of bringing it in fearing they will not be able to take it out again will be encouraged. The government just wants to control the factors of production for which it has no means. like a father who does not bring in the proverbial daily bread yet does not want his wife to work and expects three square meals....irresponsible government. How much FX does the government generate to make it control the market. This is the result, enjoy. I will not sell my FX, period, let it remain in the banks, neither will I bring in the little I have abroad. |
....hmmmm and to think that I was going to make a deposit into Eco this week....anyway....where is the 'EPP' crew. Banks are being served. |
Abagworo:He will, he will, he will.....one year has crept past like a thief in the night.....he will, he will. |
bashydemy:Then they will need to kill every body there because as the body count rises so will the resentment. Surely you don't want to go that way and i dare the government to do so. The only way out is to negotiate while seeking alternative sources of livelihood for the government and people of this country. These militants are the best tools to diversify the economy because the black man cannot learn by example but by suffering. Buhari has been in government for one solid year. WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO FREE US FROM THE SHACKLE TO BIG OIL. That is what you fellows should be asking not demanding more oil like a junkie pants after crack. SET YOURSELVES FREE FROM OIL. |
Quakertellicus1:So the VP should constitute a similar, special task force to guard farmers eh....if he dares. There is no way to explain out this country. You will always be caught short. Oil is more important than lives. Take it or leave it. There are far bigger problems to tackle. At least the zeros effect of anti-corruption war on the well-being of the Nigerian citizen has proved that. |
popcykaylah:And how do you know that it is not the paddings, the trimming of the fat at work here, because to you the Presidency is always right and every other person is wrong. This is dangerous. The Legislature is there to checkmate the Executive and when you are not certain of the real value of an item due to paucity of information you price it. If my architect says the Niger bridge costed that I would cut down my offer and ask him to start with what I have. When he runs out he comes back to me with proof of need. Buhari should sign the damn thing, get to work and supplement later. Enough of excuses. Development delayed is development denied. The budget is from January to December and by the end of the year unused disbursements must be returned to treasury. With a third of the year gone will he be giving them only 66% of the budget and 33% for Christmas bonus. Abeg make I hear. We know how these things work. |
angels09:Abeg make I hear word. She has cut her cloth im gossip just as every other person that specializes in one profession or the other. That is why there are institutions called the 'courts of law'. Feel she's slandering with untruths sue for libel, period....and talking about morals in the entertainment industry is like seeking a virgin in ta maternity ward. Linda is just trying to belong and you must accept her warts and all because you all are in the same mud pit. |
