Capital expenditure indeed....now I've heard everything. As long as the job is full time and the central government is paying expect worse. The question I would ask. If these people truly represent the people why are the people not paying the bills. Remember they are meant to checkmate the same government arm, the executive presently paying them. So where then does true power lie. Is this not a case of democratic round tripping. If Nigerians cannot insist on taking up the bills of upkeep of THEIR representatives then they should not complain. |
The few I've watched by mistake....in pure agony.... |
My only hope is that this club does not qualify for the Champion's league. It is the only way that principality called Wenger will be fired. |
The good thing about it all is that they are most certainly wrong....but hey, I won't be around so what the heck anyway.... ![]() |
They are all waiting for someone to bell the cat since he is shackled by ethno-centric politicking. He took a political position that may become an albatross. |
Before the Roman Empire was the reign of the Pharoahs, the era of slavery and hardship, of no trophies, of mid table mediocrity and no Champions League football, even Europa has no root nor stem. So the Blues fans cried out for deliverance and a messenger was sent... |
Corruption is in our DNA. |
RaggedyAnn:Just love the way you think. If one is an architect and doesn't have a vault filled with ideas, concepts and blue prints just waiting for the right client then you are a beggarly, hand to mouth charlatan. Go to auto shows, what do you see, the latest model and the concept side by side. That is the present and the future. Good architects don't run around finding a design to match their client but a client to actualise their dreams. Just look at the buildings in Nigeria, resembling poorly raised siamese twins. Tasteless works of lazy practitioners. Yet those same clients who they claim cannot afford it wear designer suits, use high tech gadgetry and drive lexuses who say 'we are in pursuit of excellence'. I called Samsung to instal airconditioners and gave strict orders. I don't want to see cables or gas lines in and out only for the chap to tell me how impossible that was and catalogued how many have tried and failed. I felt like kicking his teeth in. |
Oga. Let me shoot you down immediately. I thought your critic will be towards man and his built environment not the usual lazy tirade against challenges the way a river finds its course. The basic premise of engineering is finding solutions to problems and successful engineers are those who do in the context of the Nigerian consumer. So leave the net and return to your books and laboratories. One of the reasons why Nigerian professionals are serially undermined by charlatans and cross dressers (architects doing engineering and engineers doing design and quantity surveyors building projects and architects making bills) is that the quest for excellence by professionals is so badly lost that mediocrity and mean standards have become the order leaving the door open to fake practitioners. When professionals learn to raise standards and pursue excellence, education and research will become important and the fakes will fall away and the consumer will be forced to pay better and respect more. You cannot be respected if you are not a solution provider. Stop complaining. |
Since President Obama the self appointed liberitarian leader of the free world and vocal advocate in chief of every sexual malady under the sun identified with his roots in that nocturnal visit to his fatherland, Kenya has never been the same. They have simply bitten out of the 'big apple'. Not surprised at all. |
Don't worry IMF in three to five years time they will come round to realise. The black man is typically slow in their up take, the Nigerian even worse when you throw the usual ethno-sectional spanner in the works. Suffering is their usual means of learning, not history nor 'worked examples'. |
Absolutely agree. Fayose has no reason whatsoever to interfere with the workings of an elected government. It is one thing to criticise. It is quite another to actively seek to sabotage. It may or may not be treason by law but it certainly is by spirit and intent. |
Quakertellicus1:Oga. This is a year. Where are we going. We are tired of hearing where we are coming from. Will Jonathan determine whether this government gets re-elected in 2019 or not. And for your information it is not every damned raw material used in industry that is available or has an economically viable substitute. That is why there is what is called world trade. If every country had a local sovrce and patronized only local then even your oil will not be bought. What is key here is getting productivity up, getting people to work. |
iykebest1:Oh, shut it and go to bed. Who cares about your political conspiracy tales. We are talking about businesses and access to the tools of production. With a solid economy your Buhari can stay there forever. |
aloeman15:You want people to sell their dollars in a directionless, constrained economy. Are you nuts? |
Everyone describing the elephant from his own perspective. We see the distant galactic bodies by the way they affect the space around them just as we can decipher the environment people live and operate in by their views of the subject matter. How anyone can claim to know an entire race of people from a London or Lekki perspective beats me. There must be some 1 and a half billion black men and women. How many have we met. |
Billionaires before they assumed office is 'we are prepared to accept their corruption', in plain english. Silly citizens. |
What are bikes doing around banks. Thought it has been outlawed. |
That is what we say. It reflects the qualities and tastes of the average Nigerian. When corruption thrives it is because the average Nigerian is corrupt. When poor quality leadership serially finds their way to power, it is because the electorate is equally poor. So Nollywood, the Music industry, the education sector, manufacturing, imports and trade, travel & tourism, etc, all reflect who we are and what we have accepted as our way of life. So just cast aside widely held views and observe actualities, physical, living evidence and most of these theories fall flat. Just to mention a couple. A popular view is that Nigerians are hard working and dynamic, yet battle to keep all manner of subsidies from fuel to foreign exchange to education while at the same time procreate like rabbits, hardworking?? Another, Nigerians are hospitable, friendly and sociable yet Nigeria experiences some of the highest levels of mortality arising from ethnic, sectional and religious crises, while not featuring on the world tourism map at all.., whose nationals prefer to head abroad for holidays and to their villages for those who cannot. |
Quakertellicus1:You just can't get out of first gear. After one year in office wouldn't it surprise you now that there are no working plans to build any refinery, that the existing ones are not working properly and that the subsidy issue is not resolved whether to be or not to be. I am talking about a year without direction thoughtless of action. All we are being fed with are historicals. If it was that easy, wither? |
The big bad wolf has eaten the three little pigs having blown the house down. |
Landlord from hell. Get a good lawyer to sue their a.r-s.e to Siberia. |
bejeiodus:I am speechless, dumbfounded, perplexed, mystified. And what is Oyegun party chair saying. What is going on in the ruling party. Why are its members at odds in delivering electoral promises. |
ajalawole:Is that not where all our money goes, right down to toothpicks. It must surely find its way back. No matter how big the barn of a yam farmer. He has to empty it to move forward. China no go chop money. What I have been saying is if this government had gotten its fiscal and economic policy right instead of intrest bearing loans we will be getting interest free investment. In the world of finance money chases after the place of largest economic potential. Create a green pasture and get free money. And I think Nigerians should stop the habit of 'reckless complaining' about the economy. It repels external help. I spoke with someone who had been struggling in business and needed my help to refloat. What worried me was the incessant lamentation and after reviewing practices, a terminal statement came out, 'and what do you want me to do'. It sounded defeatist so I left the case pending for a few days to give me time to weigh the risks. If we become hopeless as a nation, no one will be willing to take risks on us. |
Just dunno what to think. Everywhere you look in this country, nothing but problems.... |
americanigga:Hahahaha...very comical. I thought this was a serious matter. |
winningwinner:Oshiomhole has to be politically correct....when your principal has not taken a stand on the matter.....sigh....we make governance so difficult for ourselves. I tell you. 99% of Nigerians identify first with their ethnicity before their country. This nation sore needs restructuring. No other way. |
TheGoodJoe:Amaechi does not represent the south, he represents the government. He is not elected, the legislators are, so it is up to the people they represent to judge or appraise their performance. I think you should understand democracy. The rail line will not affect everyone in the south. It may not pass through all the southern/eastern states but the constituency projects are grass-roots targeted and if done well will popularise and return the legislators affected whether you like it or not. That is a fact. |
greenpasture:You are highly mistaken if you think that constituency projects do not matter. These are grass-roots people thinking micro you are talking about and will not see neither will they care about 'Federal (macro) Projects'. A farmer who needs a rice mill, an oil press or a solar borehole to create his own wealth will rather side with his representatives on this matter than on a rail line which are for 'town' people and foreigners. Much as the proposed rail line is critical in opening up the eastern flank of Nigeria to competitive trade, I see reason in those who ask why the the seaports and second Niger bridge are not prioritised. It appears we have a traditional people versus government confrontation at play here where the people want one thing and the government wants another. One thing we are yet to grasp and understand. Democracy is all about the people. In advanced democracies the people are engaged to partner with government. Look at the way the HS2 has been hotly debated in the UK for several years now before it has finally taken off. How many debates have we had on the best way of developing the eastern flank of Nigeria by this government and others. If people are saying roads and seaports and airports and you are saying rail then your aim may be ultimately defeated if your will prevails. This democracy thing is new in Nigeria but we have to start getting the fundamentals right. |
I think Amaechi should tactically withdraw from this reimbursement. If he wants to 'chop' the 60 billion alone.... ![]() |
SageTravels: The Presidency and the Legislative armadas going with guts for glory, blow for blow. Let's see who's knees will wobble first. But time is going. I repeat again all these projects will not be feasible if the tropical season hits. No one enters the bush to clean up once June arrives. The 60 billion will become meaningless and parts will get stolen and re-appropriated next year. I know this is the plan by some, delay to degrade and ultimately defeat to steal. |
