Most Nigerians have started realising that they made a mistake in this government!
Most do not have the moral courage to voice it.
That is the beauty of democracy. That is how things work. That is taking responsibility. Nigerians will now learn to tailor their expectations in line with the cloth they have....and solve the problems they themselves create and let fester. Democracy will always be about the people not the President. The West saw in Obasanjo an overrated Presidency (they did well despite him) the Niger-Delta has seen an over rated Presidency not becoming better despite Jonathan. Now it is the turn of the North and hopefully all Nigeria. We must learn to build this country collectively. We are just too weak and divided, ignorant and unstructured as a people. Hopefully our suffering will at a point reboot our memory and elevate our thinking.

Well said Sahara reporters.

This junketing and galavanting round the globe has got to stop.

Buhari and his son are travelling in and out of the country like someone with running stomach rushing in and out of the toilet while Nigerians queue up under the sun to buy (at exorbitant prices) something God has freely given us.

Do u know U.K citizens never suffer fuel scarcity or have long queues at petrol stations yet they don't have quarter of the oil we have laying in the Niger Delta.

My question is why has the senate not attended to Buhari's request for the release of funds to pay those oil marketers.

Instead they are shaking hands and laughing over plates of fruits.

Do these people really care abt us?

They shld keep up the good work. A revolution is coming if they don't hurry up and fix the country.

If things continue this way, one day we the poor masses wld have nothing to eat but the rich thieving politicians.

Nobody shld call me a wailer, u wld be only wasting ur time.

I supported Buhari during the last election, but I wld weep and wail till my country gets better!
You are wasting your time. The country cannot get better under this structure.

You are not serious. If you cannot take care of your kids then you are better off not having them. There is a reason why 'whites' have fewer if not any, and that is because they are often too busy to raise them and are realistic in that. You want to have your cake and eat it. That is gambling with life. Beware.

Hmmm. Nigeria had better watch carefully how it handles this issue. The Abacha government messed up the Saro Wiwa issue and it has cost the state trillions en-counting. The Yaradua government mishandled the Boko Haram rebellion and it is costing thousands of lives en-counting. Is the Buhari led government going to strike the third and certainly fatal blow to the 'State of the Union'.

obailala:
Nigerian politics can really be amusing and annoying at the same time. This is exactly the situation that played out in the Jonathanian era, albeit now in the opposite direction.

I remember just last year when Boko haram would overrun a town and seize control, mainstream media was barred from reporting such stories however only uncontrolled media houses like saharareporters kept reporting such events. The former administration and their hoard of supporters were always on the hot seat denying the stories and heaping all sorts of allegations on sahara reporters, BBC, Aljazeera, CNN and APC as being boko haram sympathisers because they dared to report the facts as it was against the government's wish. The irony of all the denials then was that few days later, all the newspapers and news stations will then be awash with stories of the Nigerian army gallantly re-capturing a town which they denied was ever captured.

Today the exact reverse is the case, some unfortunate incident happens, the army denies, the APC government denies, the APC supporters deny and the Jonathanians fault all the denials... and then a day later, the army which hitherto denied that anyone was lost will turn around and claim that the lost soldiers have returned gallantly... and then the jonathanians will revel and sing 'we told you'

Nigerian brand of politics and patriotism is sickening. Politics should never be played with security issues.
Now you know...simply because it has turned full circle. That is why it is important for power to rotate. So that the barbacue steak can get done evenly. It is APC's turn for a roasting.

Bunkum. Are they not kept there by government. If government cannot feed them they should release them. The church operates in a totally different way. In the business of repentance and forgiveness. How do these meet.

Nigerians are very hypocritical and its our collective insincerity that has prevented our progress. There will be some, as vocal as budgies singing the anti-corruption songs working in these banks and ranting and raving on Nairaland yet, almighty yet they know, they know that they know and know the known.....that, that cheque they are given, that transfer they are initiating, that account they are managing is nothing but stolen funds someone is sweating, crying, bleeding and dying for. Can't they see that in decent climes my white bankers will question almost every lodgement. Can't they read the notices they themselves place that 'they are obliged to report any lodgement above 5 million to the CBN. Are they not criminals as well for not doing that. Shame.

.

Nobody talks about the level of corruption in Nigerian banks. Without the help our banks, most of these acts of corruption by government officials will not be possible. Nigerian banks are responsible for escalating corruption in this country. They aid, incubate and protect corrupt financial transactions by government officials.

Some banks have been recently found to be hiding money meant to be paid into the TSA!. If Buhari is serious about the war against corruption he should start withdrawing the license of some banks. Some of them are not even worth to be called a bank.
One of my first posts on Nairaland. The role of banks in corruption and the need for tough anti-laundering laws. Today MTN is being fined for keeping unregistered numbers active while banks get no rap for keeping stolen loot, laundering alibaba treasury and running the accounts and business interests of felons.

When the Enron saga broke it was not only Bernie Madoff that went. The Feds ensured that everyone who knowingly aided and abetted went to jail as well or received hefty fines. No one, I repeat no one went scott free. In Nigeria it is always only the principal that gets the heat. His associates whether individuals, corporates or institutional walk free obviously to regroup and disorganise the system.

It is only in Nigeria you hear, 'but he is only a secretary, he merely lodged oga's cheque....' but he obviously knew what oga was doing and most likely got his crumbs from oga's table. But worst of all the 'ordinary green shrub secretary today will become 'a permanent wild bush secretary tomorrow' and the chance to break the viscious corruption cycle is lost.

It is these things we see and conclude that fighting corruption in Nigeria is a pathetic waste of time if fundamental, structural changes are not made to this country, it people and its principles.

I hope you wailers are prepared to do this for the Next 4yrs? And do people even real at all. That post is not saying the president spent money on buying new air planes or incurring any extra expenses. Pls read out de first sentence. It is only spending that money to maintain the air planes bought by the previous administration. Maybe you still dont understand. Let me use a simple example to illustrate. "IF YOUr FATHER RENTS A DUPLEX FOR YOU AND Suddenly dies towards de expiration of the rent, when the time for payment comes, i wonder who is going to pay the rent? Now you have two choices, first choice is you bear the huge cost and pay the rent. Second option you agree the cost is to much and so you relocate to much more cheaper and affordable house. Now if am not mistaken one of the few promises made by buhari upon assumption of office is to sell some of the air planes so as to minimize cost. Now what i expect any rational mind to do is concentrate on reminding him of that promise! Now has baba forgotten?
All these explanations, iterations. Are you in a court of law or the CCT dock. If the country is jolly why all the John Terryism. Told you guys you'd be playing defence till 2019 because you don't know how government works.

Don't mind them. There was a time diesel sold for up to N250, thrice the price of PMS. Today PMS is more expensive than diesel no thanks to regulation. If we can't smell the coffee then we are probably dead.

Nigerians, please how is Petroleum Motor Spirit (FUEL) sold for three days now in your area.

I believe that other than expressing our individual views and opinions;
getting information on the happenstances in our climes and around the globe;
And probably getting to influence our readers positively, etc,
One major reason why we patronise this forum is to draw the attention of the relevant authorities: government and non-governmental to the issues that require them to address, resolve or clear the air on.

I have been buying fuel for a hundred and fifty naira (#150) in Benin city for three days now.

What of you?
It is 'premium motor spirit' by the way but your post reeks self censorship. What is the apologies for. Say it as it is and blame whoever you feel like. Who are you afraid of.
