dustydee:Hmmm...a very significant 'change'. Perhaps by the next administration the Comptro will be seen riding on horseback. |
IzonOwei:That comes before power. Haven't you watched the Vodka advert set in pre-com imperialist Russia. |
tempest01:You can say that again. This is Africa where the senses fail once you enter the gravitational pull of political office. You just stand on the highway and observe how many 'government' vehicles are going/coming from the village loaded with plantain, yams and smoked rats while their failed/failing parastatals complain about poor resources. I am just so sorry for us. |
Oh I see. I thought anti-corruption was the solution to all our problems. They have used it to mask the real truth that only restructuring will solve it all. But they don't want that. Maybe they should pray for a meteor strike on the oil fields of Arabia. Juveniles. |
mukina2:Hahahaha. You are a case oh. |
Holuwakemmy16:The system you support put Ambode there so there is only one way governance will go in Lagos - downwards. We have said it time and again. We need strong institutions non pseudo-puppet masters but you folks refuse. That is why GEJ remains the best. He allowed the system to work to potentially have a better government after him. Wisdom supports appreciation. Foolishness supports depreciation. Enjoy. Note : am not saying this because of the robbery on the bridge. Governance is much more than snatched phones, broken windscreens, cuts and bruises but it will be clear to all with time how a true democracy works and how it should not. |
seunmsg:Hmmm. Me too think the guv did a volta f on this one cos someone in his office confirmed it this morning. The PermSec may have just become the sacrificial lamb.... or in the ember months, the Christmas goat. |
kodlins:Don't mind them. Black man and dead black brain. Decentralise port operations and watch standards rise including the quality of haulage operators which is an all comers affair due to congestion. The state of our ports is like a man with ten children. Panadol extra will become peppermints to him. |
Hmmm. Just like Blofeld in James Bond's 'Diamonds Are Forever'.....you just don't know which one is the real deal... ![]() |
fratermathy:The joke is on you cos it looks like a rally to me |
sats:Nigerians and free money. Lazy lots. Its no more Shell changing their diapers. Its MTN wiping their bu.tts. |
lekjons:Etisalat has no issues whatsoever as far as am concerned. I hardly touch my MTN. Sacked them as my main striker since 2003 then airtel for a while, GLO for about 5 years after but these are just substandard compared to Etisalat of which I have one voice and two microcards for data. Green, yellow and red sit on the bench. I ain't intrested in traffic lights, just a smooth cruise. |
DICKtator:It might not be incompetence or sub-standards. Sometimes it can be just an accident. Because its a building the news is akin to a plane crash. Someone mishearing something on a two-way radio can bring a building down. |
Hmmm. In a way you expect that his car should be at the foot of his plane. That is what a HOS should get but can't see the news here. There are really more important things to say and do. And I repeat again. With this government, nothing. |
Yet more evidence that the foremost problem in Nigeria is that of structure not corruption. The north knows what they mean when the cry 'change'. No election in the north was faulty. No elected official from the north stole money and no territory in the north has been ill governed or mismanaged while with the raging insurgency clear and empirical evidence of these failures in leadership in those climes has not warranted public or Federal government scrutiny. Same people are apt to castigate Niger-Delta militancy when results are equally shocking. We have serious issues in Nigeria. The GEJ government took us to the brink, some say of calamity, others like me say - of 'open eye', of realisation that this country CANNOT rise above and beyond the hopes, wishes, vision, traditions, aspirations, interests, advantages and pleasure of a certain section of people. Once more the goings on offer incontrovertible proof that a certain section 'owns this country' and they will do with it as they please. |
I repeat again. It is late. This election cycle is a lockdown for the PDP in all South-South states. The APC has not done enough to make in roads. There is a lot of sentiment at play there and Wike will exploit it to the fullest. This is beginning to look like PDP and Obj v the ACN and western Nigeria version 2. Same ol, same ol. No lessons are ever learned. |
Exactly what I've been saying for years. The black man has serious issues afflicting his humanity. |
The mentality in most oil producing states in the south is that 'we have the resources so what are we aligning with the centre for, afterall even the President's salary is paid by resources from here. For the APC to win the south they need to make the south 'want to belong' but all its utterances and activities are alienating such as the DSS invasions and the recurring EFCC harasments. With a presidential 'experience' the south has weighed its destiny and decided the whole thing is over-rated. |
The verdict has come too late in the day. Wike has settled and consolidated while the APC at the centre has barely done anything since it came to power and remains unpopular south of the Niger. For different reasons I will say the verdict came too early and too late to hand any hope to the APC. I can't see any South-South state going to the APC in this election cycle. The APC needs to do more. Much more. |
The way Chelsea are going down eh...they will soon be renamed the Grand Canyon....okay somebody is suggesting the Great Abyss. |
AZeD1:It helps discourage imports by making them more expensive. You say it makes us poorer. I say some of us, not all. Those who live by and depend on 'foreign goods and services' but some like us who offer foreigners goods and services just love the short to medium term benefits. So my advice to Nigerians is, this represents the best opportunity for us to restructure our economy rather than scaremongering to keep us addicted to oil, dependent on commodity trade and intellectually lazy. Suffering is indeed good for the soul. |
Adesiji77:Greek Ouzo. Hope we won't need aunty Angela Merkel to bail us out as well. |
ShowYourCertificate:Yes. I know the truth. It was badly politicised by the APC and its key supporters/promoters back then and I did warn severally that the lack of objectivity will turn back and bite them, but We have to break this viscious circle and get back our objectivity and humanity for the survival of all. Who benefits from a divided, weak country, the insurgents of course. Bill Clinton a democrat was the President who dithered at a CIA report on Bin Laden and the late kingpin escaped. He came back violently in the time of George Bush who used a sledge hammer to destroy the entire middle-east without success. It was Obama who finally got him. All through I never saw the American government and people as cynical as Nigerians are and they never politicised their 'war on terror'. No one castigated Clinton for dropping the ball or Bush for dropping the bomb. We should learn from this. |
ShowYourCertificate:But what is the gain in all this. Those people killed are still citizens of your country. Soldiers from every ethnicity and religion are fighting and dying there. Your country's resources, your tax naira is going to sustain the battle. If the government fails your refugee status is automatically activated so again I say what is the gain in this kind of talk. Just wish this country well. It is yours. |
Not too good in my opinion. The PDP and others should not get anything. They should remain in opposition to checkmate the activities of their colleagues. They should be made to 'hunger' for whatever 'benefits' accrue to those in power as an incentive to perform better in future. Multi-party politics has no room for padi-padism. What gain does the APC have then. What has the PDP lost then. |
dammytosh:If you, yes you can use the same criteria for everyone then, fine. Nigeria's woes are not about who takes or does not. Every country has the corrupt. The problem we have is structural, fundamental. The one that sets different standards for the same issue based on ethnicity, religion or other parochial interests. You have an interest in Amaechi that is why you take this position. Change the individual and your view will change. That has been our problem for 60 years, not corruption or other anti-social acts. |
But what is the big deal about December. Not too wise in my opinion. You put too much pressure on the security forces while all BH needs to do is hunker down and watch the calendar then when the date strikes January they pop up again, thoroughly demoralizing our boys. This thing has no military solution. |
Btw. I used to smile when State governments especially Lagos frequently blamed the government at the centre for issues as localized as policing. Now what song do we sing. Ambode has both the knife and the yam. What is the excuse now. |
dunkem21:Yeah, one of those classics: "of course I can guarantee you freedom of speech...but what I cannot guarantee you is freedom after speech..." Can't remember who said it but it sounds like coming from Uganda and their historical colorful Heads of State. |
Just imagine. You had a choice on who ruled you from Gowon or earlier in a functional democracy, how many of them will be left in that picture.... Just imagine Abacha successfully navigated the democratic bric-brats. Will he be there too. Just imagine Germany had a council of State meeting and Hitler did not commit suicide but lived to a ripe old age. Will he be on the first row with Angela or prefer the back with Himmler and Goering. Wonder, wonder, wonder.... You just pity those who truly loved this country and died trying to make it a nation because Nigeria appears not able to define itself. How can a country with so many dictators for so long not have anyone pay any price for anything. How can a country just collectively forget all the ills of the past. How can you have this kind of meeting in a country so run aground and they all come out smiling. What kind of country is this. |
asumo12:Quantitative reasoning says he's the odd man out. This is a club of dictators chased out of power by the pen or gun or both. None left on his own accord. |
adioolayi:Hmmm....important meeting indeed. Meeting on how to sustain their feudalistic oligarchies, meeting on how to maintain the status quo and keeping the nation firmly anchored on mediocrity. They have been meeting for twenty-five years and you Mr. Citizen are the result. |
