He said, “The President has assured us that all zones that have not been represented in the appointments he has made so far will be compensated.

This is exactly what I mean, 'compensations'.

That word is so offensive to me. To the giver it means: 'You did not merit it, But because you feel cheated, have this.'
To the recipient it means: 'I have been cheated, now gifted to do with it what I please. See where corruption starts. See what the effect of a lopsided, unbalanced structure causes. See the problem of Nigeria.

I can certainly agree with that of infrastructure, nothing is happening. The highways are not being maintained and in this season of rains particularly here down south it is a nightmare on most highways. Its like FERMA has ceased to exist. This ministerial thingy is really, really a down side.
Politics › Re: Oyegun: Henceforth APC Will Be More Involved In Buhari's Appointments by Reference(m): 10:35am On Aug 30, 2015
When we complain about sectional appointments, Nigerian donot realise that they are inadvertently undermining integrity and the ability of their leader's to perform. When the leaders bow to these pressures they are held less accountable for the outcomes and further blame society for imposition. But do you blame society when the antecedents are clear that power concentration is itself a recipe for unending problems. These are the battles we are unfortunately doomed to fight for decades if not generations to come but we can end it if we come together and discuss our union and find the necessary compromises that guarantee a country where people live with no suspicion whatsoever.
Politics › Re: Oyegun: Henceforth APC Will Be More Involved In Buhari's Appointments by Reference(m): 10:24am On Aug 30, 2015
This is exactly what we mean when we say the structure of Nigeria more than anything else, more than even corruption is the bane of this country. We are seeing that the faulty structure manifest by this present outcry is undermining everything including integrity, institutions, the polity and the peoples confidence in their leaders. Even the APC hierarchy is under pressure. Now who will join Mr. President when he rises with his anti-corruption agenda when they will feel it may end up towing the sectional, the personal and the parochial. Fix the structure of this country and you will not need 'to fight' anything else.

The worst thing that may end up happening (and this may surprise most) is that the President may actually bow to pressure and sacrifice performance for politics, making the necessary compromises that may further undermine the economy, weaken institutions and corrupt people. We can see how the anti-corruption drive is meeting with fierce resistance and stands little chance of succeeding simply because of compromises horizontally and vertically. This quagmire we face is simply because Nigeria is not 'power balanced' so we live lives of compromises, persuations and allocations, giftings. Merit can never work in Nigeria, equity can never happen.

Nigerians need to sit down and fix this country or else it can never work.

palymarsha:
This appointment confirms why I was undecided in the last election.
It is true the JEG was corrupt, a reason Nigeria needed a change.

But the question is WHO should be the change?
Certainly not BUHARI. A man who said that the North should rise and take back their country.

He is more northern than being more Nigerian. History confirms that.

What we the Yorubas fail to understand is that the Igbos knows much of these Hausas than us.
An Hausa/Fulani man has a born to rule mentality. Winner takes it all mentality. Domination mentality.

How come Buhari is angry at Saraki but not at Dogara? Simply because the former has a core Hausa man as an alternative.
The plan is to consolidate every strong positions in case of any eventuality.
I bet you, If anything happen to Buhari today, they will rise and impeach Osibanjo tomorrow.

Strong positions are now finshed. He will now nominate the southerners for ministerial positions. What a Bleep?

We Yourubas would have clamoured for true Federalism than support these cows.
Tinubu this is a mistakeeeooooh!!!

I wish one day, Igbos and Yorubas will come to have a common ground in politics. It will surely stop this Hausa
oligarchy mentality.Even the Obasanjo presidency was highjacked by the Hausas and they made sure that he
paid more attention to them than his kinsmen. We need a popular president for progress not just the uncorupt. We must clamour for someone
with both qualities.

To me, this BUHARI will divide us more than we have been united. My kinsmen wouldnt have gone into this alliance.

Anyway let us pray for a properous country but if we cant be together let us quickly divide.
I am very sure that we Yorubas a base Nigerian economy will survive most.

TIME TO LISTEN TO THE Biafra CAMPAIGNERS JAREEEEE!
They played to the passions of the west which has the largest pool of the educated and the middle class which is why the economy and finances viz. corruption was the biggest kite flown as the last polls but the truth was that they just couldn't stand another presidential term going to the south considering Buhari's age so for them they saved their bacon at the brink.

History tells us that by the end of this presidency a corrupt few will have gone to jail, the economy will be neither here nor there, expectations 50-50 but as for the structural reforms that will solve the basic Nigerian question, put to an end the numerous ethno-religion upheavals and set the country on course for sustainable development, will not be realised under this presidency or any north-centric leadership because the north simply wants the status quo. They feared 16 years of almost uninterrupted 'southern' rule was tearing the Nigeria they want apart.

This is the part the likes of Tinubu donot understand. That power is transitory and what you do with it will count for you more than mere having it. I am yet to see how history will judge him and other actors in this drama but one thing for sure we have turned another bend in the sure road to true federalism and self determination. It has been delayed but I can't see it denied.

My landlord and his wife, along with some other neighbors think I'm a wicked person that doesn't like children. This is because I don't allow their children come to play in my apartment. Let me tell you the short story:

I moved in about 7 months ago, and my landlord lives just beside my flat. Everyday, his children (ages 2, 6 and 9) always come to knock that they want to come and play. Sometimes they say they want to watch cartoons since I have a dstv.

The problem is, I live alone, I'm single and I don't have any children for them to play with. I spend most of my time at work except weekends when I love to cook. The children usually come during weekends.

I decided not to let them come and play because I've been hearing about "65 yr old rapes this", " 25 yr old defines that ". I'm still very young, and please don't get me wrong: I'm not saying I have plans to defile anyone's child or that I'm capable of doing that.

I usually see these children going to other flats and other houses on the street to " play" and I don't want a case where someone will defile any of them and I automatically become a suspect, that's why I decided not to let them come in. In fact, when they knock, I don't even answer once I know it's them.

Now, people in the area are saying I'm a bad person that's why I don't like children. I don't want to tell them my reasons.

Dear nairalanders, did I do the right thing? Is there a better way of handling this situation?
Please advice.

Cc: Lalasticlala
You did absolutely the right thing. Let them provide for their children.

That's why often hyped foreign players become ordinary and hitherto unheralded ones become superstars.

You people are thieves. This is one appointment that is completely in order and beneficial to the country at large. With dwindling oil revenue and especially with the penchant of Nigerians to import everything thus crucifying the naira revenue from international trade cannot be toyed with to balance the books and stabilise the naira. If the Hameed fellow is indeed disciplined, then it is the right peg to plug the hole the customs has been drilling in our collective wealth. It is your fault. You fellows are too corrupt and barely professional.

Will you stop all this red-neck lizardry. A project of this size and complexity requires 'continual' affirmations at the highest levels throughout its execution especially when the government has little financial stake in it. As long as we donot practice true federalism and the centre calls all the shots, investors will continue to seek approvals, permissions, affirmations, blessings (call it whatever you wish) from the centre and that means the President. Take that for granted at your peril. It is the structure.

Organized religion is one of the major causes of the increase in crime rate .

How can you encourage jobless men to have 8 kids. I remember one member was arrested for stealing pigs to feed his large family. He was unemployed like the rest.

What I expect us to critique is the appointment of credible persons irrespective of ethnicity or religion. If we insist on appointment by geography, we also invariably promote admission by quota rather than merit. It has to start from somewhere. It shouldn't matter as long as performance is good. Would you choose your doctor based on ethnicity or on excellence? If not, why do you want to choose people to fix the country, which we all accept needs fixing, based on ethnicity or religion or other sectarian consideration?
I believe we should allow PMB to choose people he is comfortable to work with as long as they deliver. Please, fellow Nigerians, let us dispense with the era of sectarian alignments so we can make good progress as a nation. God bless Nigeria. Long live Nigeria!

Very unprofessional, very silly and very unfortunate. There are standard procedures and postures to adopt when handling fire arms. The first obviously is engaging the safety latch, the second is removing the magazine and immediately you will see a chambered round through the base of the breech block (in most rifles). If it is jammed you then proceed to strip it ON A TABLE with the muzzle facing forward and away. Do this and live long. Too many police men have shot themselves in the past.
