Was a great man. Will be missed by many. |
Wow. So, so sad. I don't think this country is doing enough to acknowledge this tragedy and helping the families in this difficult time. May God Almighty grant their family and friends the fortitude to bear such a great loss. |
bife:Which is why Nigeria is what it is today. We don't all agree on any one thing. In the corruption department Nigerians cannot decide what is corruption, when corrupt acts are done, who is corrupt. The system is messed up. |
Every day you wake up alive, in health, in peace and in safety just give thanks to God for the gift of life because that is what it is, a gift. May we learn to number our days, treasure life and live purposefully because it is just like a mist. |
adioolayi:I did not say it was a big deal but when you consider the calibre of other people he met then it should be viewed in proper perspective. The Pope's visit to the UN is perhaps a once in a lifetime experience. And to Catholics it may be a big deal. |
Jesusloveyou:Hmmm. Like the more important, pressing meeting with the almighty Obasanjo which he promptly attended.... |
adioolayi:Kai. Education is good. Abeg. The Pope at the U.N. is in the capacity of a Sovereign. He is the 'Head of State' of the Vatican which is designated as a country complete with diplomatic representation and is a member of the UN. He did not visit the UN on religious grounds but in the capacity of a 'Head of State'. Heck. There were no 'hail Mary's, no mass, no laying on off hands and no Holy Communion at the UN, it was pure government stuff. |
efreaky:Then I'm afraid we are really in for it. The whole thing is a mess. Once more I call on the government to open channels to these folks and negotiate. |
tsdarkside:You call a DSS regional facility a weak spot. If weak why keep such dangerous elements there. Do you know Kogi is 2 hours away from the Federal Capital. Do you realise the seriousness of such a situation. |
thecollector:Well the US is not facing an insurgency on its shores. Remember the last shooting at a naval recruitment centre and a few lone gunmen on US military bases both on american soil and in Afghanistan and Iraq. It happens. But what concerns me is the failure of intel or the lack of tact that exposes these outfits especially what should be a clandestine organisation to attacks. No one should ordinarily know who is detained where. Heck. This is not the police or military we are talking about. |
This is quite puzzling. How these folks could leave the main theatre 700 miles away in Bornu and strike unexpectedly. Means one of three things.: The trafficking in illegal weapons across the north goes unabated despite the might of the security forces across the region or two; there may be 'sleeper cells' scattered across the region or three; Boko H may have formed alliances with other criminal elements currently not closely monitored due to the 'war on terror'. Whatever be the case an attack like this can only mean one thing, someone of great value to them was held there and the DSS should go over the list carefully. I am also concerned that the DSS being a clandestine organisation, a sort of 'secret service' could easily be penetrated like this. Prisoners held by such an organisation should be classed as 'John Doe's'. There should be no trace of them anywhere except if they have moles in their midst. |
daresimon:Obasanjo removed 3 Senate Presidents and 2 Lower House leaders in fairly similar circumstances. What has it done to corruption from then till now. You really need to understand what this corruption thing is about. Remove Saraki or not, it will not make a dent on corruption. This government is not equiped to handle it. |
Like someone said Obasanjo 'changed' was it 3 Senate Presidents and 2 Rep leaders through his 'corruption wars'. Did it even make a dent on corruption under the green dome. Of course not. They remain corrupt to this day. What will make this one different. Practically none of the legislators can pass muster. What will make a candidate with soil on his hands avoid public office in future is a 'system' (not a man) that will jail him irrespective of his status. The get-out-of jail card of this government is political correctness. Which judge or judiciary will back that abeg. Btw: why didn't the APC screen Saraki out from contesting in the first place to save themselves and the country all these troubles. Shebi the DSS and co. were there under a hostile government that will have gladly churned out enough dirt on him. |
dokunbam:Good you are ending by saying 'LET US'. That is the talk of a creator, one who knows what he is doing. This is what a leader should be saying. This is what God said at the beginning. It is the only way societies, nations are formed, co-operation, solidarity. With numbers a government was changed. With bigger numbers you can change a strong ideologic hold which is corruption so any sensible leader will look for broad based support not further polarizing people which includes the judiciary. It is too easy to predict how all these corruption war will end because it is like a V6 engine with one or two of its cylinders shot. It is only a matter of time. If you are a government of Nigeria you must take all of Nigeria to task or else visit the mechanic, you are going nowhere. |
arabianights:Countries such as China have justice for all. It is not selective, politically motivated or vindictive. People just want to downplay or take as irrelevant the role of social justice in development. You simply cannot develop if all citizens are treated equally before the law and have equal access to power. This government will have somewhere about the same success as the Obasanjo regime because justice then and now is a means to a very personal not national end. Not that it matters to me cos you have to elect someone and I know that the change we expect will take several decades not tomorrow and not in this regime. |
egift:That's the crux of the matter. A successful corruption war needs broad based, non-partisan, pan-national support. That is what is called justice, totally blind. When you begin to politicise it or sectionalise it, you lose support among the public and in the judiciary then it becomes a long mud slug and the battle ends in failure. When the anti-corruption flag was flown starting some two years or so I did say that it will be bloody and no one will come out looking good including Buhari himself. Time has proven that. |
Lexusgs430:Bad deal. Let my lawyer decide whether I can go ahead. |
Lexusgs430:Depends. A medical bill is not one lump sum. For that amount you will likely go into pre-treatment negotiations with your lawyer to get a fair deal. |
gladys470:I see. With 16million sitting in your account na God dey look onto you oh. |
MurderX:Hahahaha. Monica says it all. |
That's the reason oyibo do scheme called health insurance. On the topic. Why not. If you are able to generate 16 million you are well capable of regenerating 15 million except if you won a lottery or stole it. Then it is either a gift or not yours respectively and so you will not miss it either way cos easy come easy go. |
gurunlocker:Hahaha. Aye, aye sir. They call it submarining with Captain Mou at the bridge. 'Make depth three-three-zero...' |
Na tribe and religion Nigeria Gog and Magog dey cause am. Religion causes fear and suspicion. Fear drives people to the safety of tribe. When are we going to move forward. Poster drop your mother tongue. Then begin to learn. Learning is best under a relaxed atmosphere so I will suggest clean english literature and motion pictures. |
All these 'businessmen'. What was he into. This is the key. |
njays24:Can see your point. It is costly (in terms of lives and property) to keep them but our criminal justice system is not working well and remember what happened when the police went extra-judicial a short 6 years or so ago and poured petrol on the smouldering embers. We should learn from our mistakes and handle things with civility painful though it is. |
So who will take Buhari to the CCB for 'anti-party activities' as he clearly doesn't respect 'party supremacy' in appointments.....no.....I didn't mention Saraki here. What were you thinking.... |
By reading the headline alone I will say, one can be said to be educated when....he or she believes there is a bigger underlying problem plaguing this nation apart from corruption, the owners of Nigeria so desperately want covered up so they throw bones of confusion into governance and watching the hungry masses yapping. |
TonyeBarcanista:Not really the same thing: Finance - Religious/Islamic matters. |
Needless, senseless waste. |

Be born again......bless you. |
Read your books and strive for excellence. Your sojourn on campus is for that purpose. You have enough time after that to make all the money you want. Never misuse purpose, places and positions. Free yourself from the Nigerian mentality based on rat-raceology. Note: If you were endowed with superlative skills or talents in whatever field you may venture because education will merely be a supplement, an addition or an enhancer but the fact that you seek advice and answers shows that education is vital in your quest to the top. Donot make the mistake of leaving the major to pursue the minor no matter how challenging your financials are. |
