Christianity Etc › Re: 7 Biblical/ Wisdom Ways To Avoiding "RAPE" At All Cost In A Filthy World by Reference(m): 11:03am On Aug 09, 2015
Favolly:
OP, you try o!

Very nice piece indeed. But since you are a man, I am waiting for the day someone like you will write a piece preaching to your fellow lads to stop raping women.

"Ladies, stop visiting man", "stop dressing like that", "Be Godly", "blah blah blah"

We have heard you people, We are also tired of hearing it, ehn? I want to believe that every wise girl takes all these precautions. Inasmuch as I feel it's good to educate ladies about what or what not to do to avoid rape, all the constant advice is beginning to make it look like we are the bad guys here, or like we actually encourage or enjoy the nonsense. It's supposed to be the other way round. On FP every week, there is supposed to be a thread fully dedicated to condemning the act, and damning the perpetrators to hell too.

So OP, we are very grateful for the advice, thank you. But being a man, please try and do a piece for the men too. Yea, I see about 2 sentences where you said rape is bad. But they need more than that, they need an epistle, with scriptural backing like you did up there.

I really hope you dont take my suggestion the wrong way. Like I earlier said, it was indeed a nice piece. Just that I'm tired of hearing this kind of advice, and would really love to see someone actually address the root cause of the matter. In the end, this advice cannot apply to helpless 5 year olds who know nothing, but are victims of sexual molestation
Yes. We have also heard and no case of rape is ever taken lightly. It has been elevated to the status of murder. It will become a capital crime like robbery some day but for the reason of wide spread banditry we have gone cashless, employed security guards, gadgets and gone low profile, a whole lot of lifestyle changes. The subject of debate is not whether there is robbery or how bad the robbers are but wgat can be done to lessen the likelihood of an attack.

What are ladies doing to protect themselves both in attitude and in act. What most of you are saying and doing is to flaunt more and more cash in the face of hoodlums. Is this excusable.

Eureka123:
To many of you making reference to girls who extort money from guys and dress scantily, I agree that people should take the necessary precautions that they can to protect themselves. Like not standing in front of a busy road to avoid getting crushed by an oncoming trailer. But the incidence of rape is more than that. A man who wants to rape a woman will do so, whether or not she's decently dressed or has taken money from him. No matter what the scenario may have been, no woman or person deserves to be raped. There's no justification at all. Even if that person stole all the valuables in your home or wore pants and bras alone in front of you, he/she doesn't deserve to be raped. Many of you wouldn't think about touching your sisters if she dressed provocatively, why would it be any different with the young boy/ girl out there. Rape is like murder, it is born from sheer evil and lust. Give yourselves time to really reflect on the matter itself, like think really deep. This isn't just about "Naija women this, Naija women that." This is fighting to ensure a safer world for our daughters and sons. May God grant us the heart of love, because only with the presence of love and conscience, including self control, can we be able to fight this battle.
The same thing over and over again. Now you have turned the message over the head of the messenger and he now looks insensitive and excuse seeking. Why do some of you ladies never face the facts that the sinking ship of morality contains both rape and indecent exposure (nudity) and his advise (extortion) as well. You are always apt to condemn one and excuse the other, why. One is not saying that nudity causes all rape but it contributes to some so why don't the womenfolk give it a benefit of doubt.

Using your example. If you stand at a busy road long enough you will eventually get knocked down. That is one of the reasons why people build houses. It is simply silly to live a life totally reactionary and always at the mercy of the actions or inactions of others. A lady will only elicit my sympathy if she lives and acts proactively and yes my relations will get the caution of their lives if they behave irresponsibly. This is the subject being discussed.

From your moniker, it shows that you ve really been a victim of such girls. I hope you dont rape them. Stop justifying rape my brother. If you dont know how to woo a woman without spending money foolishly tell me let me teach you.
That is not what he is saying so don't twist things into a superiority context. We know that you are highly rated at wooing women but the contests, battles and standards you folks set is responsible for the rush amongst the women folk for the basement.

Just like what the banks are doing to the women folk purely out of greed is what women do to themselves for the same reason, more and more money and what he is saying that these aggravated contests blow back into incidents of rape. I don't totally agree but I am of the school that says 'prevention is better than cure' and I am always an advocate of women seeking to 'develop themselves' mentally, morally and financially in order to make better choices and ultimately cut down on cases of self induced violence.

Interesting. So, who are the good men in Nigeria?
There are none. You don't look for good men to run government. You establish the good in men by 'making' them run government. We can now see that Fashola is not a moral man but he was a great governor. Buhari on the other hand is supposed to be a moral man but with next to nothing in governance so far. Even OBJ the 'villan' has accomplished more.

We continue to tell them that corruption is not the problem of Nigeria because everybody is involved. It is the framework, the system, the structure that needs change. There is no one, hear this, no one Buhari rolls out that won't have a story of aiding or abetting. Nigeria will simply grind to a halt while waiting for the messiahs decked in white linen. They simply don't exist. Name them and give me maximum of 72 hours to dig up their trash. This one is small. Just wait to hear about Fashola and public works scandals.

We are just wasting our time.

Good move against those short selling the naira. Why should you stock huge amounts of fx if not to offload for a profit or hedge against future devaluation which in an unstable economy such as ours is tantamount to sabotage.

But I really don't know what is all the hue and cry about the naira devaluation. If excessive exhuberance won't stimulate you to diversify your economy, recession and suffering should reboot our memory and elevate our thinking, but no, we insist on a monochromic oily economy.

Without deep seated economic reforms built on comprehensive restructuring of the country the economy cannot improve beyond the price regime of oil which is not predicted to improve substantially until 2017-2018. The Nigerian economy is too predictable, too vulnerable and too easy to sabotage....and with the lazy mentality of Nigerians, there is nothing government can do.

Besides fear of Nigerian police, its not proper and even a criminal offence to tamper with d corpse of a person suspected to have been murdered.
This is to avoid tampering with evidence(exhibits, fingerprints, position of the corpse,bullet/weapon trajectory etc).
However,I do agree that d overriding reason in that of Nigeria is to avoid police wahala, but everywhere in the civilized world, its only the forensic unit of the police, not even any police man that is authorised to touch any part of the murder scene.
Correct. Its not fear. It is the right thing to do. As long as the victim is not alive he should not be touched and the surrounding area secured.

you won't blame the guy standing there. The fear of naija police false accusations is the reason no one wanna near the corpse. Except the family of the deceased will come there at the scene. The police will have to come to the scene first before anything can be done.
Even in sane, developed societies if the person looks dead it no longer a paramedic but a police case and interfering with the crime scene thoughtless of touching the corpse could land one in police trouble even if they are relations. The police comes first for any deceased under suspicious circumstances. Standing aloof is not wrong, it is right.

You people just talk anyhow. Is there any government or law enforcement in the world that can stop random acts of violence. Assasinations take place everywhere. These often result from private dealings to which the public oft has no idea whatsoever. Law enforcement and government can only react to these. They cannot enter into the minds of would be assasins or their potential victims.

Corruption is so endemic, systemic, fundamental, widespread, deep rooted and institutional that it cannot be eradicated in this country. You don't even know anymore if a policy is ethical, official and approved.

If the President approves and even the anti-graft chief is involved you'd think it was above board, right? But the fact that they could step up and pen their names to evade asset declaration scrutiny shows it is plain theft.

Nigeria is in serious need of structural reforms if not these things will not end. I'm afraid 100 years down the line our grand kids will still be lamenting the illegal acquisition, sale and embezzlement of even our grave sites.
