The speculations running wild are capable of ruining homes were they to be believed. Do these things happen in government houses? YEZ. Has this article done justice to exposing this rot? NO. Punch is too serious a National Daily for this trash. I'm disappointed. If there are serious about this, let them focus on just 2 states and write with details not this scattered ego massaging rubbish. Because the national psyche is like that, low on facts which require hard work, high on speculation and sensationalism because we love dishonesty and rumour mongering. These stories they tell are not new to most folks. What will make for interesting reading is new, fresh facts. |

Just making noise up and down to excite the change over switch but still no light. Can Buhari do anything about corruption or not. That is the question. So far it is one reason 'not to' after the other, one waiver and exemption after the other, one meeting after the other with the accused.
Is he going to add the Haliburton scandal to his anti-corruption manifesto, yes or no and if not he should be man enough to explain why not. |
Politics › Re: Corruption Probe: Peace Committee Shocked In Meeting With President Buhari by Reference(m): 11:13am On Aug 12, 2015 |
This sensationalism is getting out of hand. This government was elected by popular mandate, why does it have to govern by private interests. If it has promised to probe it should just go ahead and do it instead of all these grand standing and media play. If it is going to probe the Jonathan administration then why is it hosting Jonathan and others.
This will only lead to the kind of compromises that will sink the government, the bane of this country for too long. Abeg they should go ahead and probe whoever they want to probe and face the consequences. Already because of the media frenzy it is clear the Halliburton scan is dead in the water leaving the administration's image in the US decidedly questionable. There was no need exempting anyone from any probe but having blundered why then make so much noise about it further damaging your system.
That is what he did in 84. They made so much noise, enough siren so corruption had enough notice to prepare and fight back. The same thing all over again. |

The government should be left alone to fix the nation...and that includes meting appropriate punishment on the past administration in areas where it is found wanting. Small pikin. You are being schooled on what Nigeria is. A country built on faulty foundation with a structure designed for mediocrity. oduastates: You meant Articulate , ambitious and self confident .
I have come to understand that in Nigeria, those are considered bad qualities. I will agree with you that he can be over ambitious at times . But What exactly would you call Obama or David Cameron ? They said the same thing when a certain man was warning of the impending fiscal crisis in 1983 . The gbajamila guy happens to be one out of about six people who has any business in the House of Representatives. Most of the rest have no business and are unfit to represent a herd of cattle . The other being , Abike Dabiri , the northern guy who grilled iweala and one guy from the SE who seems to be on top of the issues . Apart from that , you could as well scrap the entire National Assembly and not feel it . Better still , change it to a house of Chiefs with the Kings representing the constituencies. Cutting through the drama , only the discerning can cut through the conspiracy. Buhari is an elderly man ... You know what I mean . They are already burying the man even though he is still very much with us. It is nothing about leadership or service but all about the primitive accumulation of power and money if the inevitable thing that happens to everyman should happen during his tenure. A primordial power struggle is being waged and some people are limiting it to a inconsequential statement from a former speaker. i guess perpetually voting for clowns means that some regions will continue to be the insignificant enablers of what has led Nigeria to its current situation. North west conservative are already moving in their chess pieces to take over should Buhari die . The idiotic and corrupt politicians and their supporters from the south are singing hallelujah. Later , they will be complaining about marginalisation and how all oil blocks are owned by the North . On the other hand , am happy. Tinubu would be a golden asset to have in the liberation movement .when his eyes opens that he is trying building a house on quick sand.......Nigeria is beyond redemption. See yasef. Talking from both sides. You say some people from the south are hailing, supporting this. But didn't you people vote against the south and 'gave power' to the 'north'. Now you are angry that some others are supporting the same north at your expense. It all means that by and large the so called vote for change was just to get Tinubu, his group and his interests into power. You can barely hide this. And now that this is not happening you roundly condemn Nigeria as beyond redemption....because of one man, Tinubu and his interests. That line of thought my friend is the tragedy. |

omenka: Nonsense. If any of them is found guilty, let them face the music. It is high time government became intolerant of corruption regardless of personalities involved.
That said, the national assembly (as redundant and as useless as they could be), should take another look at that law regarding granting suspects bail based on "self recognition". Thieves don't respect themselves while stealing but plead that they be "recognised" and granted bail based on the office they occupy or their status in the society when they are busted and detained.
The law should never be seen to be bias. Both me and you know that when the owners of Nigeria speak every fake and false ideology listens. So....better listen and listen well. It happened in 1984, it is happening again. Many will be persecuted, many will be spared, the whole system will crumble. You cannot beat the system called Nigeria. Larryfly: So the summary of this epistle is that we shuldnt really blame men that rape girls because they have spent heavily on them. Rather we should blame the opportunist who saw a willing spender who thinks he can buy anything by throwing cash around. Is that what you are saying this sunday morning? Yes. In the context of this topic. There are several other topics dedicated to the act and the perpetuator. This topic seeks to deal with the role of the victim in prevention and avoidance. It is a 'how to use seatbelt discourse'. It wouldn't put an end to accidents or deaths but it will help. There is a general moral decay out there. Hyper sexualisation of life. Both men and women are guilty. It is up to the victim to take precaution. Women should cut the fuel of greed and slut as their own contribution to putting out the fire. Simple. This is the topic. |
