A country that make criminals appear as victims, heroes, freedom fighters because it cannot administer justice, equity and fair play only promotes the endless cycle of corruption, nepotism and ethno-religious conflicts. It didn't work in 1984, it cannot work now. Structure is the problem of Nigeria. Restructure and re-found this country and all these problems will end. |
wisdomguy4u:Couldn't have said it better. Every country outside the middle east and those led by dictators (note these exceptions and correlate with Nigeria) has settled, developed and progressed substantially after 'nation changing' conflicts whether civil and internal or external, be they the protagonists or the so called victims. Germany lost the war and was flattened. The same victors rebuilt that country and today it is the powerhouse of Europe. Japan was nuked in 1945 but once more the victors rebuilt that country, the second largest economy until 10 years ago. China, the United States, South Africa, Rwanda and most sadly even countries Nigeria sent peace keeping forces to secure have all solved their internal questions and are galloping forward while we are trapped in decades old bitterness and the same rivalries that led to the tragedy. Today we can all feel the problems generated by that war but cannot seem to identify how to tackle them because we cannot sit down and reason. How come that today we hail and run to for salvation the very same actors that brought this tragedy. Why is it that decades on we still hold them in high esteem and for hope they never brought us. Yes I mean the retired Generals and their civilian collaborators of that sad era. Today they still call the shots. They fashioned the unworkable system that has plagued this country. They are known for their unending bitterness and high handedness that they have polluted the youth with. They have successfully transferred they sick ideology and implanted it on the generations after to hate one another and to hold ethnicity and religious bigotry higher than national cohesiveness and solidarity. Today the youth cannot think for themselves. It is only what they are told by these so called leaders, the owners of Nigeria. They talk about the corruption they let loose in 1967 when the civil war when accountability was pushed off the cliff. When the spent national resources at will under the guise of war, when they raided the central bank and carted away Nigeria's wealth. Are they not using the same tactic today. From the swamps to the deserts of Nigeria they stoke up ethnic and religious conflicts so that they they can plunder more resources under the guise of keeping the peace. Nothing has changed. Restructure this country and they kick. Seek to settle once and for all the issues of minorities, they refuse, create a sense of belonging to all, they refuse. Social justice, they refuse. Equitable power distribution, they refuse because they profit from confusion and injustice and pretend to have the solution when they know Nigeria can never be great under the system they created and perpetuate. They refuse to retire and die.... that this country may live. How can 140 million people not see this after so many decades when other nations have learnt their lessons and moved on.....is a mystery to me. |
Hmmm. Governors bailing out with bailout loot. |
Gboliwe:The most common reason is to determine if there are underlying conditions such as illness or disease that could create a picture as to what these individuals were all about (insurance would be interested in this). It can also determine if the individuals have been subject to violence before and most vitally in the hands of an experienced criminologist together with other evidence determine the weapon of choice, whether the assault was by an individual or multiple persons, whether the murders were carried out at the crime scene and an approximate time of death. All these things can be the difference between catching the murderers or not. |
Gboliwe:C'mon you can do better than this. Are autopsies only performed to determine cause of death. |
speedyGonzales:Hahaha. Its because of dinosaurs like him Akpabio cannot get his hospital going. Nigerian professionals. One thing with them, they refuse to grow, develop, innovate. Its all talk. They hardly seek the knowledge that moves things forward. He knows more about Akpabio and politics than his own profession. |
Just fed up with these people. He's had his time as governor and should just move on. He is now an elected Senator. What has he done for his constituency and the nation since he was sworn in. But because he was not elected to perform but just out of sentiments he is serving sentiments. Meanwhile his huge salary runs. These people are just bleeding this country dry. |
989900:In 1984 they caught many thieves then what..... What is the end game in 'catching many thieves'. |
I perceive growing confusion concerning cattle conflicts and wish to address a few issues which must be made clear. Their activities are purely centred around the theft of cattle from the herdsmen by means of violence but could be involved in attacking communities that host these herdsmen or in reprisals against vigilante groups. They are the quintessential bandidos that are hung by their necks in popular westerns. In Nigeria both groupings are increasing threats to national security. Herdsmen: Nomads, essentially Fulani, owners of livestock, largely responsible for reports of destroying farmlands and attacking host communities, also for reprisals against settlements perceived to be hostile the length and breadth of the country. They are the quintessential 'cowboys' of our time. Cattle Rustlers: Indigenous but could be nomadic as well. Could be of any tribe and combination of tribes and races within each gang. Certainly not limited to the Fulani. |
Fight everywhere you go. No governance anywhere, just fight, fight, fight. |
It is 'Flour' not 'Flower' Mills because the joint is located near an intersection overshadowed by the huge flour mill complex across the highway. But caught in 'compromising positions', heck, please elaborate....I mean explain....describe.... |
chukwudi44:The government is on autopilot, the polity in total disarray. Barely any Executive, no Legislature. What exactly is the purpose of this whole thing and why is Nigeria not speaking up against what is obviously an intra-party personality feud. Why are the ambitions of a select few causing so much national upheaval. |
That was always the end game. It was always about power. No more. The anti-corruption lamb has been sacrificed. |
billyG:You folks cannot even mask it anymore that your leaders are not elected but appointed, selected, ordained by the almighty. Hmmm, so where do you cry to now. 16 years after democracy, still suckling at the breasts of your political benefactors. Well change has come. |
Said it not too long that politics is like a psychological see-saw with reward at one end and reputation on the other. In opposition you suffer the consequences of power black-out but you shine bright like an angel. The moment power and the juicy trappings comes your stock sinks like a lead brick. Till he gets voted out it is all downhill. He might as well cash in his pension cos his career in politics is over. When you start hounding the press its curtains. |
One of those perenially badly run states where each successive government tries to break all records in the race to the bottom. Poor democratic discourse, docile, ignorant people. Perfect cocktail for regression. This is one state the APC has to shake up and prise from the PDP. |
blacksta:And in your view it is right, normal, perfect for Presidents to be 'removing' House leaders. Well, what can I say.....the journey remains far.....very far..... That is why the only way out is to restructure this country or else we will remain in a perpetual quagmire. How can it be that the system make every citizen corrupt, biased and prejudicial all the time. No matter what side you take, what view you express you are always in deceit, you lie and support wrong. Buhari has to lie to fight corruption. He has to twist justice and |
One by one the choristers of big government are falling silent. There is no one left to blame, no one left to wag the finger at. As frustration mounts and the hope of utopia fades, the dawn of realisation that progress, change, development, democracy is all about the people, not the government and hardly the governor. That a country cannot rise above the aggregate of the quality of its inhabitants. That the people ultimately decide the fate of a country and must be held responsible for its future. Nigeria is simply like this because of Nigerians. |
tobimillar:Anyone that doesn't tow the party line. Freedom of speech, freedom of association....going.....going.... Whatever won't bend will break. You can so easily see the future in this country. People are so, so predictable and learn no lessons whatsoever from even yesterday. |
Oladigun:If you were alive during the time of Jesus you will have denounced him for going to certain places, meeting certain people and saying certain things. The God I know loves all His Creation and will never turn anyone away. Jesus healed unbelievers, dined with sinners and received gifts from the corrupt. If you have no sin or were born better than Pasuma or whatever his name is, oya cast the first stone. You don't know the ways of God, neither do you know the day appointed for any man to be saved. As you condemn him, God loves him. Those who you set up the crusade for are no better than the Pasuma. Remember, Saul was on his way to Damascus to kill Christians when God intercepted him. Even after conversion some Christians were still afraid thinking it was a trap. Free your minds and live. |
sholay2011:Yeah, we all like extremes examples to shock and awe. Who will have given Pasuma audience to 'lead' praise and worship abeg. Even you a Christian will not be permitted by most churches. Small time you will say he was invited to serve communion. |
MadCow1:Hmmm. You got a point. Can't understand the fuss. Its a crusade for heaven's sake not a Bishop's Convention. |
Yeah....government is like metabolism. You look and smell nice going in. Eventually you come out the other side looking like sh...t. |
IyfeNamikaze:Well the word sychophancy was concocted for a reason but it amazes me just how people think. Don't they read papers, listen to news. Is there any democratically elected leader anywhere in the world that has not had it very rough and tough this past forthnight. From Merkel of Germany, Abbott of Australia, Obama of the US, name them. For one thing or the other they have been grilled and eaten alive but they resign or go home when their tenure ends with a good, fair or poor legacy. It is only in dictatorships that people keep shut but the dictators almost always end up in exile, prison or the gallows. You cannot have it both ways. Those who cannot be criticised cannot succeed. |
ephi123:Nigerians are so ignorant. They just don't know how things work. Just sentiments. Listen. True democracy is the only guarantee of sustainable performance. It is not about who wins elections but about the process by which he or she got there. Ambode was selected and so he is accountable only to the selectors. If he tries to satisfy the electorate he will end up like Fashola. I said it a couple of years ago Houphet Boigny was Premier of Ivory Coast for decades and under him the Ivorians enjoyed unprecedented boom, the number two economy in west africa but the laws of democracy caught up after Boigny died and today Ivory Coast is no better than Liberia. If Lagos fails to instal democratically elected governance time and again it is heading for calamity. That is unavoidable. The kind of turbulence that will rock the state post Tinubu will shock many. These are the issues Nigeria has surmounted by a peaceful transition, the reason we say Jonathan is the best so far, that is because the system was allowed to work and popular will was respected. People constitute the wealth of nations and you cannot have individuals no matter how influencial and powerful deciding and setting the standards of their lives and living. Very soon contempt is bound to emerge and unfortunately Lagos has very weak democratic structures to fall back on. There is trouble ahead. The Ekiti we all laugh at is miles ahead of Lagos and the Osun we are amazed at is the vital sign of what is to come. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, eternal power outside God can only be satanic. |
Nice. Those who aspire for excellence never fail to attract suitors. 'See a man diligent at his work...'. Pity the contraption called Nigeria and her unworkable system couldn't profit from you. You tried to square the circle, no way. You warned them to be prudent and save for the rainy day, no way they said, we hate umbrellas. You told them to diversify, they went high on petrol fumes. You told them to seek alternative sources of income, they said 'allocation is our birthright'. You told them to reduce their allowances and trim their human resources, they said you were breeding crime. Today they are in the struggle of their lives while you have moved on and hopefully up. The good thing is that you will be paid in dollars, hahaha. |
akins56:Abegi. An unmarketable Nigerian politician doesn't exist. He only needs to stoke ethno-religious sentiments, turn on the switch of political correctness and dole out enough cash and the long suffering but attention deficit Nigerians will put him in Aso Rock. Was Obasanjo not as discredited as Atiku in 2007. Today he is a hero, not so. History will always be written by the victor. Unfortunately nations are not built that way. |
pdppower:You have brakes. Use them. |
GideonVIBES:Hmmm....that last word sha.... |
Yongi99:Don't worry na so dem dey talk am. When things begin to go wrong politically for him and he steps on the tail of the tiger the CCB will school him on why this was a crime and why he has to go to jail. And the wonderful thing is that if he is in your bad books then you will agree. |
ModiKen:Calabar. It rains there 9 months of the year and except for load shedding the light doesn't go out when it rains. |
shawwal1:Hmmm. If he was elected solely because of PMB then it is the people who need to have their heads examined. Next time avoid sentiment. |
