cdz:Hmmm. Skill without character is like a ship without a captain. It never ends well. |
And don't tell me the job is in a PR firm or in the hospitality industry but if the position was for a boxing promoter or an audition for a Quentin Tarantino movie then he's game. |
kingobozy:Corruption can never end in Nigeria. It is in our DNA. Even gamma radiation cannot destroy it. |
Same ol, same ol. Talk, talk, talk, lament, lament, lamentations....but alas, no ideas, no action, no movement and in 4 years under new government they will be reading from the Book of Ezekiel. The only thing we need to import in this country is common sense and courage, from China and Cuba respectively. |
PROVACATEUR:Hmmm....grim reaper. |
BishopMagic:But they tell you remissions have not happened from these agencies and that is because these are tied to the private sector. And the private sector needs direction. This has not been forthcoming. |
LieDetector:Every user software has a help menu. Surely if you can play around social media you can dig out the facts you need in double quick time. No one taught me how to use software. |
Midehi:Women will never accept responsibility for their actions. It is always the men's fault. |
SomebodyLovesMe:Hmmm. I thought they will be too afraid of Buhari and stop soliciting bribes but who am I to change the leopard's spots. So much for 'leadership is the wonder drug for all ailments. |
adedayourt:So you can now see that corruption is a common denominator and thus cannot possibly the problem. So mething greater than that needs to be tackled first. I'm sorry that most of you get repeatedly deceived. Nigeria is far more complicated than that. |
Toks2008:He's done since 2007. The decay is just setting in. |
Was it the great Napoleon who wept for there were no more lands to conquer. Now that the enemy is defeated the swords have turned on the valiant. Getting success is hard. Managing success is harder. Fashola is done. He is paying the price of gross ignorance. Deceived by the same spirits he relied on for power, fame and fortune. The split of the APC is no longer how but when. |
We want to know about the present government not the past one. Abati should focus on the present and leave history to those who need and value it. What is happening or not happening about Nigeria in times ahead.... |
Freemanan:Stop kidding yourself, they have gone quiet and by quiet you know fully well what I mean viz the intensity of a few months ago. We are not blind or deaf, we follow the news and the media too. Initially I thought the lull was to give the new administration time to hit the ground and a similar outcry against her organisation's perceived cold feet sometime in June caused a meeting with Buhari and once again all she got was promises. Are we saying she believes promises now rather than prior May 29th or as someone put it, has the 'fear of Buhari' got to her such that she's frozen solid. Afterall she was an active player in the OBJ regime which has a pact with this government, an 'I won't criticise and attack you as long as you don't probe me' understanding. I can imagine a certain gruffy old man warning her to back off and not rock the boat. Well, time will tell. The famous 100 days in office is at hand. Interesting times ahead. |
hansad:When I say Jonathan was the best President so far they don't know why. They talk electricity, roads, refineries and other mundane issues. And it is clear why he had to go, because the reality kite of true federalism was flown in the north by a certain group knowing fully well that it was only this enemy that could rally all northerners and balkanise them. Nigeria has missed a unique opportunity the likes of which may not be available for years perhaps decades. The owners of Nigeria will do everything to maintain the status quo. They will resist every attempt at national structural reforms and they have scored a big one in this administration. To me it is no surprise that the bulk of appointments so far has gone north and the mandate to each will be clear. Frustrate any move for true federalism and crush whoever stands in the way of that. |
NoRetreat:As Ambode as Buhari. Nothing is happening in Nigeria and you guys are cheering. Wherein lies the different. The government at the centre is on autopilot, the pilot is busy in the cabin with unruly passengers. |
They say once Buhari is elected corruption will end. As if anyone is named corruption you can simply arrest and detain. Alas those that shout change, the very elements that suffer the effects, the average Nigerian remains corrupt, practices corruption daily and lives a corrupt life. All they seek is a lightning rod to blame for their woes, the nationwide effect of their acts. I see corruption everywhere I go despite the new government and it is easy to project what ridding government (at the top only) of corruption will be on our national economy and psyche is when it (government) amounts to just fractions of the population, economy and our collective aspirations. Corruption is a national problem and not just a government-in-office problem. Changing heads of parastatals will do little when the next in line are equally tainted. I always say, how does a minister steal a billion naira without an office of assistants, bankers and secretaries who will all have to be 'settled'. Is it just the minister who is culpable. And we know what happens when you cut the head of a weed, it multiplies. Corruption post Buhari WILL MULTIPLY if only heads are cut. If you doubt me read your history and find out what happened after Buhari 1985. |
Stupid people. They say all sorts of rubbish out of opportunism when they are outside only to sing a different tune of reality when responsibility is thrust upon them. Is he a kid to be saying this now, things even a camel has known for years and what is he doing in the job if he can't dance to the tune of the government and gullible, misinformed Nigerians. I hate it when so called experts exclaim or feign surprise at fundamental problems they are appointed to handle. Shey there is no subsidy or it should not be removed, depending on the side of confusion you fall. |
Its the normal rainy season cycle due to peak hydro. Check out the River Niger, as dry as a bone because of the water held back. April is the peak demand, lowest water level. Then we see how much residual capacity we have. |
J tjtj0 NewNigeriaMind:The fact is we are vastly more populated than we are able to cope with physically, mentally and financially. When we continue to breed like rabbits this is the result. A child failing academically is much ado about the state and the parents' failures. Even if you had the best schools a family of 4, 5, 6 kids will still underperform. That is why if elected President my priorities will be evenly split between child education and adult education because it is clearly a chicken and egg conundrum. |

Sincere9gerian:Government is all about persons and personalities. Nigeria is just one big kindergarten where what is important is who does what and not what is done. The next President will do his own house cleaning and rid his government of alleged Buhari loyalists because they will answer only to him as well and not the country they claim to serve and the viscious cycle, the spiral descent will go on and on and on. |
The tone in your home sounds a tad too materialistic. And materialism is the hotbed of theft, embezzlement, etc. The bible says it results from 'lack of contentment', always wanting more, wanting another, wanting something else. You yourself say you give him what he wants and provides his needs at an instant. Who does that. Go back to the Holy Book and observe how God our Father deals with us His children. When you are 'born anew' you learn of His Promises and He lavishes you with gifts and benefits because He knows you cannot get them by yourself but with time and growth He withdraws the ease and replaces it with responsibility. He doesn't say you can't have it but you must begin to work it out. This work moderates one's appetite and puts life in better perspective. The solutions to this which is good parenting is to gradually replace benefits with responsibility year on year. Make your son begin to 'work for things' as he grows. Any other way is....just a waste of time. |
Police again and their colourful terminologies. Which one be 'kingpins'. How do they know that, and how can you have two in one gang. They just love exaggeration. |
Reprobates. Of course they don't know where anything is unless it is meant for their wallets. Corruption can never end in this system. |
Goke7:What is your own. Can't he have a life outside politics? You are disappointed because he stole or your role model has been caught and exposed. I keep on saying it, focus more on the game rather than the players and never be disappointed. |
nationwide1:Hmmm. So una eye don clear say corruption no be the problem for Naija because everybody dey do am, na awa culture and culture no be problem. Even ya Buhari don do im own, hide am wella but e go comot one day. |
kennygee:He should fight back. That's all. Release the dirt on Tinubu, that's all. |
Too, too poor. That's less than one aircraft for every million Nigerians. That's poverty level. We are bankrupt of enterprise no thanks to the dysfunctional system of spooning aka allocations. Very few are really creative and even less are enterprising. We need to restructure the country by unbundling the federating states so that we can challenge one another. We are like that child now a man who refuses to leave home to fend for himself. Yes, he envies everyone around him. |
Just like the police and checkpoints, we hate them so much but the society keeps bringing them back with its love for crime. So it is in the polity. The PDP's love for corruption has brought the increasingly beligerent APC to power. If the PDP had wanted an open highway it should have provoked Nigerians in seeking alternatives. It can't have its corruption cakes and eat its way out of probes as well. |
Its normal in the laws of power and the history of empires. When there is no territory left to conquer they invariably create enemies within and turn on themselves. It is good to have massive armies, impressive weaponry and competent foot soldiers as the propaganda juggernaut of the APC and its paid hacks have so deftly operated these years but you must find wars for armies to fight or they simply fight themselves. I've said it several times. The APC shouldn't worry about the PDP. Its greatest opponent is itself. Shocked that it took just days to manifest and with every passing day the cracks get wider. Just wait for the cracks to merge and.... |
obailala:But what is the Federal Government doing about it. Civil works throughout the country has ground to a halt. Nothing is happening. FERMA which is responsible for continual remedial works no longer exists. Just cutting across that road to let the mud drain away is the simplest of things that can be done. Calabar will soon be completely cut off from the rest of the country except by air as the main highway has failed in several sections. A number of new state governors have embarked on emergency road rehabilitation. Why is the Federal government so slow. Is it the only arm beset with financial challenges. Why can't it get the country moving months after ascension. Why is it so distracted by irrelevancies. |
