talk2rotman:My dear it doesn't deter anything. If you want to use Buhari as a case study the facts are: there were scandals immediately they introduced the import restriction regime (or whatever it was called). If you were an importer and you had to see this person and that person it involved heavy bribery and several cartels in rice, cement, wheat similar to what we have with the fuel subsidy thing. The customs went haywire and many of the billionaire ex-customs officers were born then. I admit this government has done next to nothing in tackling corruption in any way but if you think it will die down because a 'select few' are jailed then abeg lower your Buhari fuelled expectation. Nothing fundamentally changed in 1983-85. Nothing changed during the PTF years. The carparks and offices of Afri-projects resemble that of say NDDC today, like the floor of the stock exchange, trading contracts, privileges and rent seeking. At the end of the day if he gets into power your excuse (and this is as certain as a central bank cheque) we will have heard before and it goes like this. 'IT IS NOT BUHARI THAT IS CORRUPT, BUT THE PEOPLE SURROUNDING'....when you see that things still do not work. The change you seek is in collective values for the common aspiration of all Nigerians. Jail may deter the undecided. They don't change the criminal. |
ChinemeOkpan:In your haste you didn't read the part where it said your party has used it twice already. Even if work was still going on it will have been more dangerous then Mr. APC agent. My take on these petty squabbles is simple. You simply reap what you sow. Two double terms of unbridled 'PDP in power' has set the stage for this. Even people now wish to return to Egypt and Pharoah Obasanjo when they see a very different President. It is the all-action APC that has cashed on this. Once more civility suffers but since people are so hungry, Pharoah appears a decent chap after all....and the viscious cycle extends. |
torkaka:Yes and I also noticed how 'sophisticated' they are or will appear to be in the eyes of a coward masquerading as an infantry man and in the minds of silly Nigerians who believe any tale emmanating from fifth columists ever ready to stroke their politically egos. Nonsense people. Just look at the fallen, these are less than teenagers a grown a-rs.e soldier will be scared shitless to confront with an AK. What is indeed happening. I know. They see the bosses stealing and drving BMW's round Abuja and they prefer to live just in case it becomes their turn. So they refuse to fight but want to remain in the army, get promoted and perhaps a few medals courtesy of the likes of Fashola campaigning on their behalf. Useless people. |
iyobs7:Then better steer clear of political office because the honeymoon is over. Politics is about trading popularity for power, fiction for facts. Once the APC assumes power expect a rise in criticism. Opposition trash talk is cheap. |
eleojo23:Started well but like everything Nigerian crashed at the end. You just confirmed that the will all, in all, for all, by all is money and riches. There is a better and higher purpose to life and living. I certainly won't do that if the only promise and reward was money. |
Nten:And how many are they compared to the thousands in active service and in active combat. There will be casualties in any significant conflict anywhere in the world and rebellion within the ranks of any armed force any country can muster. It is human. Acts of bravery, acts of cowardice, acts of sacrifice, acts of revolt. Those who win will take risks. I repeat again. No soldier, airman or sailor in any force anywhere in the world did not wish he had better equipment in the heat of battle. Most armed forces grow to meet their challenges. 3,000 sailors and scores of ships were lost at Pearl Harbour and in the early years of the Pacific conflict no one could stop the Japanese advance. Many soldier diead, many rebelled but the American armed force stood resolutely, learnt, adapted and today is the biggest war machine ever. They grew, they learnt through conflict, through many wars, through suffering, through loss not in peace time, not in plenty, and certainly not in rebellion. Let those who want to rebel do so. The armed forces will outlive them and survive their cowardice. Prunning is necessary for growth. Their CO was right. Dismissing them at home is better than cowardice is battle. I cannot have a traitor, a coward fight beside me. That is one too many enemies to fight. |
Nimen:When people are stronger than the institutions meant to serve and protect them this is the result. In Nigeria everything is personalised and we wonder why nothing works to unified interests but that of individuals. As the top shots steal funds meant for kits for personal gains the ratings sell the little that gets to them. |
omenka:The military is an institution bigger and older than the government itself. Its hands cannot be tied by any individual in it. Stop all these irrelevant speculations. This war simply cannot be won by force of arms alone. It is ideological. |
Ologunjude:No one is defending anyone. Cut through the clutter and go for facts. For example the military has a medical corps and some of the best equiped hospitals in the country and some of the best specialists working there. And they donot have industrial unrests. As for personal kits the army at least provides a standard set but a serving soldier can pay to have additional ones made for him which the military is always wary about due to misuse and abuse. Yes they keep kit circulation tight. These are facts. |
Because they have politicised the conflict everything concerning military procurement and logistics normally clandestine to keep the adversary guessing is lost and we say we are not the architects of our problems. |
mamagee3:She's much more than that. Diligent, hardworking and posesses an excellent mindset. All of us have one opportunity or the other and one gift or the other. Not one is born and dies empty. Maximise your gifts. Its more than luck. |
That's where excellence takes you not squealing money, money, money, oink, oink, oink like some hungry piglet. 'See a man (or woman) diligent in his work. He shall stand before kings and not the hopeless masses going oink, oink, oink'. |
Nihilist:OluObasanjo. That should be in Portharcourt. I don't think there is any one in Uyo, the nearest state capital to Calabar. And that is a four and a half hour drive on a good day. |
blackbee:Like I said, we are always spoilt for poor choices and nothing more but he still remains the best candidate the APC can put forward. The truth is that the coalition of opposition groupings did not emerge early enough (say immediately after the last general elections) to enable proper structures and mechanisms to be put in place for a better candidate sellable on the national stage to emerge. If you pushed back the election by one year for instance I bet Buhari and Osibanjo will fall down the ladder of choice. For now he remains the best foot forward and it can only be good for our democracy as it has shaken off the complacency of the ruling PDP which should hopefully translate to good governance for us all. I am so pleased that the advocacy on both sides remains strong. It is great fun. Just don't let it get bitter and violent. |
And yet they will deny that they are s-e.x objects and have an accentuated sexuality by default. Always concerned about private parts. Nonsense. |
drlawizle:It is the effect it has on others that people and the church is concerned about not what the state of mind and the intent if the wearer. In a nutshell, If you want to go to hell, please do so alone. Don't take others with you. |
TreQuartista:Double post. |
TreQuartista:And since no major senior international tournaments this years (if I'm not mistaken) the leagues and champions league will be the decider and for now Real Madrid and CR7 are riding high |
Fair enough in the circumstance, certain better breeds than most of those there right now but once again, certainly not the best. We always have to stomach bad food in Nigeria, why? |
Edusouls:You can say that again. Greed and sloth, a powerful cocktail of death. |
Francon:'The kind of interrogations I will put you through before you see me....' hmmm nawa. Serious business. |
Aystarz:Yeah, making the botched Nation's Cup thingy much harder to swallow. It won't sell here at all. |
natureblack:In what...darts or crochet because believe me, no one gives a hoot. Nigerian footy is on sabatical. |
natureblack:He was the Madrid raging bull for the bucks. Now he's got it... |
xynerise:Don't worry we will find his black box. |
Olasoonky:Haba. A bag of cement weighs 50 kilos. Any man weighing that low will not attract a woman to marry. |
Well Mr. Thompson this is a double-edged sword that may just become a tin opener to some pandoras box. Of course it is good and right to forgive but in Nigeria that is often what people lament about. That people do all sorts of things here and time simply erodes the evidence, the facts and the will to act in seeking redress. That it has been the singular factor responsible for recycling leadership and preventing the establishment of institutions. Are you saying that in 30years all the 'sins' of the present administration be forgiven and GEJ be given another shot at leadership. We know that because this is a nascent democracy and the paucity of competent candidates has thrust Buhari on us but we also stand to risk it all if we cannot found principles now. It will certainly promote or sustain one form of impunity or the other. Finally, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and a couple of other Latin American countries passed through similar situation, brutal military dictatorships that violated on the platform of nationalism and patriotism. Though they felt they were doing the right, their societies have not forgiven them and even today 40, even 50 years later, many are still going to jail. It may not be our desire to see this because we have this x-factor that continues to plague our polity, society and country. That is, we are never, never, ever spoilt for choices. Rather we are always, always between and betwix having to choose the lesser of two evils. Always managing leadership.... Why? |
Nothing wrong with it in the least. They are just having fun. At that age the child knows not right or wrong, cannot remember it ten minutes later and I assure you as long as breast feeding continues needs no further immunity from infection. Its positive. Its a go and is far better than the harsh treatment we see babies go through in the hands of their frustrated parents these days. |
eleojo23:This is a fact that I've tried hard to reproduce. Indeed even the bible says it. The body has different parts. I listen attentively to them all. They have all inspired me and I am proud to say I have found myself in their congregations at one time or the other. God is indeed colourful and has beautified this country with his riches in these men we are privileged to have in this generation but so often mistaken. It is when they are gone we will realise how much God has blessed us with. |
Raiders:So how many months or years are you willing to give Buhari to stop every suicide attack if he becomes President. Answer. |
princemillla:Because Shekau holds a Nigerian passport that's why. It is much harder to kill your own citizens and reduce their homes to rubble. You generally have empathy for your pals who comit crimes don't you. C'mon even you cannot admit your political role models and benefactors are corrupt. Yes you. Have you ever asked yourself why you cannot deal with yours the way you deal with others oh Mr. Average Nigerian. |
Alleinad:Except you want to make it a religious thing and you are able to make all Christians abandon their faith because of Buhari if not it is impossible to islamise Nigeria. And for your information, of the nine key leaders of Nigeria only 3 were Christians: Gowon, Obasanjo and Jonathan. Six which represents two-thirds were moslems yet Christianity as a faith in Nigeria is growing. Try another scare tactic. It doesn't work like that. If you are a knowledgable Christian you will realise the key biblical scripture controlling governance is the one that says, 'righteousness exalts a nation (a body of peoples with common heritage) but sin is a reproach....'. This I believe is a law because it is old testament (given before the church age) so it applies to all peoples, nations, nationals and Nigerians. If the people of Nigeria are righteous in good number and choose a righteous leader then the nation will prosper and God will be pleased. Remember He is the creator of all. |

the said soldiers should be identified and charged for treason, no matter what happens soldiers shouldn't come out to international news agencies and say anything without the approval of their leaders. This is why this country is the way it is. Strong head people everywhere doing things the way it seems right to their interests not according to protocols
