If the man was innocent he would not have signed the cheque.
Warped reasoning. It is this kind of reasoning that makes the police arrest a whole street because a mere case of burglary has been reported. grin please go back and read this thread from the first post, watch the video and then come back and tell us whether you would not sign the cheque if you were in his situation with all the threats of physical and psychological assault been thrown at him left, right and centre smiley

Crime › Re: Irate Students Humiliate Randy Lecturer by Reptyle(m): 1:50pm On Jul 26, 2010
The truth of the matter is that if this was in a developed country, this man would make this lady and her accomplices pay dearly for this "humiliation." Now before y'all eat my head up, I am NOT in anyway condoning what the man is ALLEGED to have done, I am only trying to do an analysis of the "evidence" as it should be done if presented to a law enforcement person. All the lady (victim) made was a mere allegation that needs to be proven BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT.

Now if you ask me, all I can see in the video is a man who has been forced into a humiliating submission under duress and threats of physical abuse. There is absolutely nothing on the video to support the real victim's claim of sexual harassment because rather than get him to speak about the issue, all the guys (and even the lady at a point) were interested in was getting him to sign them a cheque while threatening him with dire physical and psychological ("I go slap you now!!" "I go call ur wife now!!"  "We go spread this video for campus if you no sign am!!" etc )consequences if he doesn't.

Last I heard, the professor had reported the case to the police claiming that he was tricked into a trap, held against his will, assaulted and extorted by the students. He's got a case if you ask me smiley smiley

Those students should spend some days with the police for blackmail IMO. They already had the proof they needed to nail the lecturer without resorting to compelling him to sign them a cheque. Now he can easily claim he was set up and was at the location for a different reason. I guess it didn't occur to them that he could easily block the cheque the moment he stepped out of the lady's room. Just shows the quality of students we have these days. Serves the lecturer right newayz grin grin grin grin grin

Crime › Re: Man Caught With Over 70 Dead Babies In Nigeria by Reptyle(m): 2:19pm On Jul 09, 2010
This story was simply over sensationalized. LUTH has confirmed to the police that the man is a licensced contractor charged with disposing unclaimed bodies at the hospital's morgue for a fee. The only thing the police is holding him on is that he deviated from the standard practice of burying the bodies at the Atan cemetary. He chose instead to dispose of them in a bush somewhere in Ikorodu because, according to him, he did not have enough cash to pay the dues at the cemetary, after spending a chunk of the contractual fee on bribing some hospital officials. smiley
Christianity Etc › Re: Nigerian Anglican Homosexual Priest Defrocked by Reptyle(m): 2:12pm On Jul 09, 2010
Kay 17:
the position of the Anglican Church on homosexuality is not clear, prominent figures of the Church like Desmond Tutu tacitly back it.
The Anglican church in Nigeria has always firmly opposed homosexuality. The immediate past Primate of the church, Archbishop Akinola, was quite outspoken about it and the church in Nigeria was in the forefront of Anglican Communions from across the world who severed ties with the US Ecumenical Church for ordaining a homosexual priest. South Africa has legalized homosexuality so I guess Desmond Tutu has to toe the line in order to remain relevant in the scheme of things smiley

He only got away with it because we dont have an effective law system in nigeria. In the advanced world he would he would be cleaning his bank account now to pay a hefty compensation.
Abeg you pple should stop citing laws that you don't know. There is no judge here or abroad that will award damages to 9ice considering the circumstances surrounding the recording. I am sure that 9ice would have long explored that option going by his disposition to the recording if he felt he could get a ruling in his favour. Rugged did what he had to do to correct a wrong impression. Extreme, yes!!! But to say he was wrong, hell no!!!

I love both guys and this is yet another needless squabble that could have been nipped in the bud if all parties had acted correctly!!!

Tuyis:
Nonsense, he can probably reach more Nigerians here on Nairaland than on Facebook, why doesn't he open an account here.
We already had a grandstander in Babangida, we don't need another one.
The radio call in shows, used by Obasanjo was a perfect way to reach a large cross section of Nigerians not Facebook, at least not yet.
I disagree please. I can assure you that more Nigerians spend more time on facebook than they do on Nairaland. A pointer to that fact is that the President's page already has over 95,000 followers just 10 days after it was created. Besides, I got much love for Nairaland, but you will agree with me that interacting here on Nairaland is not for the faint hearted grin grin grin What with the cynicism, sarcasm and insult that somehow seem to find their way into each and every thread.

I also do not quite agree with the fact that radio is a better way of reaching the masses for obvious reasons. How many young Nigerians listen to Radio Nigeria or watch NTA? How many people can get thru to the programme when they try to call in? How many Nigerians were even aware that the president was on radio? Compared to the hundreds of comments left on his facebook page by Nigerians everyday, methinks the better choice is obvious.

Bottomline is that getting on FB was a good idea. As to whether the President will actually look out for lofty ideas from the numerous posts on his wall with a view to implementing them, well, thats another matter all together lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

I am in shock with the responses so far. You are all BIG FOOLS. You have left the substance to chase shadows. So Dele Alake and his goons have rights to shoot other motorists because he is afraid of assassination. Is he a police officer? Is he licensed to carry guns to shoot other motorists? Who the hell is Dele Alake to be driving around in a convoy of armed men?Have we descended so lowly and have become so lawless? If all political aspirants are licensed to carry guns, we might as well become a war zone.
Dele Alake is a lawless tug from Bola Tinubu's school of thuggery and area boys. He is reckless, irresponsible and silly. He should be charged for attempted murder and aggravated assault.
To you nairalanders who made these comments above, shame on you. You are blinded by sentiments and prejudice against Akala who is not a party in this matter

Sports › Re: Fifa Give Nigeria 48 Hours Ultimatum To Reverse Ban. by Reptyle(m): 4:55pm On Jul 02, 2010
I believe that the President's order was not targetted at the players, but at the rogues that run Nigerian football. There is, however, a better way of getting rid of Lulu and his fellow rogues without quarelling with FIFA and jeorpadizing the hopes and dreams of a whole generation of Nigerian footballers.

Since the NFF derives its funding from government coffers, all the President should have done is direct the sports ministry to starve the NFF of funds. Once the allure of easy money and estacode is removed, I assure you that Lulu and his bunch of jokers will gladly hand over the reins of Nigerian football to whom it may concern and we can then start the rebuilding process. Surely, even FIFA would be unable to argue with the time-worn principle of "He who pays the piper calls the tune."

Methinks the President was a bit too hasty in his decision but I know he meant well. We need to adopt a less combative posture in tackling this issue as we would be the ultimate losers. The President needs to rescind his order and tow a different line to reform Nigerian football.

However, Lulu, ogunjobi and all those other MALadministrators must NEVER be allowed to return to the glass house!!!

Sports › Re: Sacking Amodu Was A Mistake - Odemwingie by Reptyle(m): 2:16pm On Jun 23, 2010
Here I was wondering why Lagerback kept him on the bench. He is obviously one of those players who believe that without them, the team is nothing. He is obviously quite egotistic and undisciplined. Under Amodu, they probably always had their way dictating who plays and who doesn't play in the team. I guess under Lagerback, they lost all that and were required to prove their worth or lose their shirts. I hope he retracts this statement and gets back on track before its too late for him.

It was so embarrassing when I watched it on TV with outmost shock infact they lost manner, they lost respect, the garage boys are better than this people to be honest because there was total lost of sense, dignity and honour. If even someone has a can of worm to open up why is it typical of this A-S-S H-O-L-E Melaye style for God sake can we say this is typical of Kogi style of hoodlums paradingas hero, surely character can not be cover I wonder how he deals with his people and his own family.

This barbaric attitude shows clearly why the people in Kogi has not known peace till date I am so sure this mr i-d-i-o-t Melaye must be one of those behinde hoodlums in that state. Can we now say IBB was right when he said youth are not good enough for a political ventures? This is just the issue now. I am so dissappointed seen torn shirts, trousers, flung off cap, boxing, barking like dogs and so on just because of looting and nothing else.

Anyway may be the House of Mis-represemtative will ends up producing a new heavy weight boxing champion at least we need a new Samuel Peter nobody know lets wait and see.
Let me guess, all the highlights of your drivel are aimed at pecking a fight right? Nah! Not until hell freezes over, or u at least learn to spell  and make correct sentences in English. According to you, Kogi has suddenly become the headquarters of thuggery and barbarism in Nigeria? Then I guess Bankole and his army of thugs who turned to bouncers within the chamber of the House yesterday are all from Kogi?

Compared to some other states within this country, Kogi is quite peaceful. Dino Melaye represents (or claims to represent) a tiny fraction of the state. Therefore, his misconduct should not be used to talk down at the whole state.
dino is from kogi state and they are synonymous with thuggery and hooliganism over there, trust me.we've had a longer period of military rule in the past and going by their records, they are not better than their democratic counterpart instead make things harder for nigerians
Ok that is such a rude and insultive statement to make about people from an entire state. Who died and made you judge to brand Kogi State indigenes as thugs? I take it then that you are from a state whose citizens are all angels and saints. Kindly retract your statement and apologize to the good people of Kogi State abeg.

Bankole, Dino and all those other jokers in government are all birds of a feather. They claim they represent the people but we all know they are only after their personal interests.

Exactly. And what is wrong with bracing yourself for an impact when something is about to hit you? Is that an offence?
The argument is that he did not know Keita was approaching him as it was his blind side. So how do you justify bracing urself for an impact you are not expecting? How about simply stepping out of the way. I mean if he had enough time to brace himself, he also had enough time to step out of the way. Its not like Keita was sprinting towards him now was he?

@ Bassetti

I am also disgusted with Keita's disgraceful play acting. So I am not justifying his action. However, IMO, there was intent to harm or provoke Keita with the raised elbow. Methinks, Kaka had observed that Keita had a vile temper and tried to "Kaitarize" the Ivorian player by provoking him. It backfired badly.
