dayokanu:
Keita ran into Kaka. If someone is running at your blind side, what do you do? Vapourize?
No you don't vaporize. But you also do not plant an elbow in his chest just before he barges into you either.

If Kaka was indeed unaware of the approaching Keita, he would have been pushed to the ground by the much heavier Ivorian, as he would have been off-balance. Take another look at that video critically and you will see that Kaka clearly saw Keita approaching and braced himself for the impact.

Keita learnt from the best:

grin grin grin

Seriously though, Kaka's case is not different from Sani Kaita's case. Sani lashed out at the Greek player and got sent off. Even though there was clearly no contact, he was penalized for intent to harm. Similarly, Kaka raised an elbow to Keita and though the effect was exaggerated by the Ivorian, Kaka got a yellow (became a red since it was his second of the game) for an unsportsmanlike attitude.
Sports › Re: Lgerback Contract To Be Extended by Reptyle(m): 3:16pm On Jun 21, 2010
Good decision. But a two-year contract should be enough for the man to prove his mettle or leave. Part of the mandate should include facilitating the development of some of our local coaching talents like Siasia, Obuh, Eguavoen and Amokachi. Notice that I did not include Amodu on my small list. He should go and farm grin grin grin
Sports › Re: Lagerback's Fate: Should He Be Sacked Too? by Reptyle(m): 11:06am On Jun 18, 2010
Abeg leave Lagerback alone and stop comparing him with that knuckle-head Amodu. Amodu was given 2 years by the demented folks at the NFF to foist his mediocrity on the team and look where we are today. We all expected Lagerback to come and perform magic with a team of mediocre players he only got to meet 3 weeks before the world cup. Oh, and before y'all start going like why did he accept the job, let me ask which of you would turn down that kind of money for a 6 months contract? What the Greeks capitalized on yesterday was not the ineptitude of our players or coach, but the poor psychology of the players themselves; their inability to rouse themselves from lethargy and stir themselves up to play like their lives depended on it.

Even if you bring Mourinho or Hiddink or even our beloved Siasia to coach this same team as presently constituted, the results would not be different. We need an entirely new team, a clean break from the past; a set of young and virile boys whose mentality has not been subjected to Amodu's anti-football style. A team of boys who knows what it means to fight or die till the final blast of the whistle. Did anyone watch the Italians play last week? Did you see the urgency in their game? Did you feel the never say die attitude they displayed when they were a goal down If you ask me, they are the most likely team to lift the world cup from all I have seen so far. Until the day we regain our ability to play that way, our football is DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rather than gloat, Amodu and his patrons at the NFF should go and hide their heads in shame at what they have done to our football.
Sports › Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by Reptyle(m): 11:21am On Jun 17, 2010
NNS83:
Complaints complaints, all these supposedly "top" players always complain if its not the ball, its the pitch or vuvuzela's or according to Ronaldo "top players should be protected by referrees" ! Where does it end? Answer is you cant please everybody.

The one complaint was the ball couldnt dip and bend and that was proven wrong by Forlan's goal yesterday even the commentators said so.

Most African players started their career in the dusty streets with supermarket balls and look where they are today.
I hope you noticed that Forlan's shot took a deflection off the head of an SA defender before it dipped. The original shot was headed for the skies grin grin grin
Sports › Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by Reptyle(m): 10:02am On Jun 17, 2010
Maicon's goal for Brazil is a clear indicator that the Jabulani ball is weird. It was meant to be a pass and the Korean keeper had it well covered. Suddenly the direction changed and scored. Even Maicon was surprised grin grin grin
Sports › Re: FIFA: Argentina’s Goal Against Nigeria Was Illegal (Infractions) by Reptyle(m): 2:48pm On Jun 16, 2010
The truth is that the referee can not blamed. He cannot see every foul that happens on the field. Let FIFA stop releasing reviews that will not help anybody. They should rather focus on exploring means of adopting video technology to assist the referee in making decisions. It is already in use in games like cricket and tennis. I wonder why Blatter's FIFA is against introducing technology to the game. The game has grown faster and players have become more desperate to win at all cost and have perfected all sort of ways to cheat. The only way to keep up with them is to introduce an eye that sees all. IMO
Christianity Etc › Re: Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo Speaks On T.b Joshua by Reptyle(m): 2:11pm On Jun 16, 2010
I only sense jealousy in all these TB Joshua criticisms.

Back in the '90s when TB Joshua has no swagger or followership, how many of all these funky pastors did care tp trace his roots?

Now that the man has got  followership which is = more money and swagger, they are now on his case like 24/7.

I can only say its jealousy. Period!

Me sef I no trust TB Joshua but I trust him a million times more than ashimolowo, chris okotie and chris oyakhilome.
A great man passed on to the great beyond leaving for his three children a great inheritance. Suddenly, a stranger shows up at their doorstep laying claim to a fraction of the inheritance on the grounds that he is the long lost son of the deceased great man. He bears strong physical looks to the three children, but h speaks a different tongue alien to them.

Do you not think the 3 "original" children would be within their right to question the stranger's ancestry? Its not in my place to question Mr. Joshua's genuineness or the lack of it. But methinks that all that these other gentlemen of the cloak are asking is: From whence cometh thou o' man in the synagoguehuh

Culture › Re: Why I Fought My Wife In Public –deji Of Akure by Reptyle(m): 1:49pm On Jun 10, 2010
An Oba in Yoruba land is not considered "just a man." He is called "Ekeji Orisa" (Second only to the gods) and is treated as such. Whatever the woman may have done, he had absolutely no business going to confront her publicly up to the point of having his guards manhandle her. He demeaned his high office and thus deserves the flak coming his way.

Sports › Re: Adidas Is Not Marketing The Super Eagles Like Its Other Customers by Reptyle(m): 9:51am On Jun 09, 2010
Adidas has a very long relationship with Nigerian football so I think there is a problem somewhere. Perhaps there is something the NFF is not telling Nigerians. Another factor that could affect the look of our jerseys is the fact that the designers have only two colours to play around with. If our flag was a tricolor, methinks the jerseys would be finer.

Meanwhile, abeg does anyone know where one can get an authentic Eagles jersey to buy in Lagos?

Nice one Olawoye.

Let me add the discrepancy between the use of "THIS" and "THESE"

THIS is a boy

THESE are boys

Please notice that "THIS" is used in the singular situation while "THESE" is used in the plural situation. Perhaps Olawoye can explain the above in more academic terms smiley

Me I don't know what part of the nation the OP resides in. But in Satellite Town, Lagos, the light situation is still as horrible as it used to be, if not worse. In my area for instance, there has been no power for about 2 days now. When they bring it, it probably wont last more than 20 minutes. Like Femi Kuti said, "Na so so tok tok! But no action!!!"

God help this country.

At my table making a list of groceries for the month. Reads this article and remembers what happened the last time they said the same thing. Shakes head sadly, yawns and "radically" increases his note on his list from one pack of candles to a carton. Also makes a mental note to call Rasaki to service his overworked I-BETA-PASS-MY-NEIGHBOUR. Its got some more work to do yet.
