If I ever doubted the identity of who was really behind this boko haram nonsense, I am now convinced that this is just another ploy to distract Nigerians from the current realities on ground!!! We must not be distracted at a time like this ![]() |
mcgboye:This vacuum will be comfortably filled up by smugglers who will bring in rice from the neighbouring countries at a price marginally higher than they are doing presently. But the smuggled product will still end up been much cheaper than the local ofada rice measure for measure because current ofada production cannot meet up with local demand. All I see with the wheat and rice embargo are negatives all round. Cost of rice will go up thus further impoverishing the masses and smuggling will become much more lucrative and enticing. The government will be creating a new breed of criminals. While the idea is a good one, the rush to implement without first ensuring that current indices support the proffered solution will be it's bane. In Nigeria, we always seem to tackle issues from the answer to the question rather than the other way; always putting the cart before the horse. In the long run, there will be a lot of movement and no progress. This year's budget stirs a lot of optimism but an in-depth analysis tells me it is just the same old story. Good luck to us all!!! |
Reptyle:Oga Beaf, me nko? Don't I at least deserve an insult er, I mean response too? ![]() |
Beaf:Mr. Beaf, I confess that I am a complete doofus when it comes to fuel subsidy. I suspect that I share this unfortunate status with most of the commentators up in here. Especially those who like me, do not buy into Jonathan's bubuyaya economic theorems. I humbly request that you enlighten me on this aspect of nuclear physics (abi na rocket science ) called "fuel subsidy" so that we do not continue to remain "clueless," "ignorant" and "confused." I promise to be forever grateful to your "royal intellectualness." |
I've been using quickteller.com.ng for a while now and never had any issues. Try and update ur acct immediately u get d 3-day notice on ur screen. If u let ur acct expire, most times u'll hav to call them to get reactivated. But even that doesn't take up to a minute once u get thru. Good luck, |
@ Fasterboy So in your own books, endless and unfulfilled promises are a sign of progress abi? |
Singing *Wake me up, when December ends* For a government that has no record of fulfilling promises, the kind of headline I will celebrate is: "Power Supply HAS Increased By 600MW" Enough of the bubuyaya promises!!!! |
@ Black Panda blackpanda:None of the cultures you mentioned above are in existence anymore. If they are, they are not practiced openly as they are considered crimes against the state and they attract very stiff penalties. I also wonder which Nigerian culture allows women to marry fellow women like you claim. Please enlighten me. As for the "Yan Daudu" culture in some parts of the north, I agree it exists but this people are not primarily viewed as homo.sexuals. They are primarily pimps who manage prostitution rings and help negotiate deals for the prostitutes they manage. They indeed dress like women and have effeminate mannerisms but most of them still operate secretly. Plus not all of them are homosexuals!!! Please click on the link below to read up on this phenomenon http://www.scribd.com/doc/49592608/Yan-Daudu |
Pls email me acct details: reptyle76@gmail.com Thanks. |

The person who called me is also in the state for his nysc. Still nothing on the news yet. Perhaps its nothing serious. |
Just got a call from a friend in Kabba, Kogi State that there have been explosive attacks on First Bank and a local police station in Kabba, Kogi State this morning. 3 police men dead and several injured. They also freed all detainees at the police station. They suspect its a boko haram operation. Is there any nairalander around that axis who can confirm this story. |
Good on you GEJ!!! ![]() |
Suddenly the western media has gone silent on the civil war raging in Libya!!! Libyans never start! They will bite their fingers and curse the day that they allowed themselves to be used so cheaply. |
Did GEJ really make this statement or was he misquoted @ Henry The American people supported their government post 9/11 because their leader did not make such vague statements like "Al Qaeda will fade away!" Going by GEJ's statement, many more Nigerians will be made cannon fodder while we wait for Boko Haram to "fade away." I guess that according to GEJ's warped logic, the 150+ Nigerians that lost their lives over the weekend and the hundreds more that have been wasted since he became president are simply collateral damage resulting from our wait for the "fading away" of Boko Haram. I only pray that B.Haram guys don't lay their hands on nuclear weapons in the meantime or else it will be a looooooong wait ![]() |
Any growth on any part of the body ISN'T normal. If it was, everyone would have them. If you got stuff growing on your balls, you need to have an expert take a look. You can visit your local GP who can then refer you to a specialist if there be a need to. Nuff said ![]() |
Probably just a stunt by one or a group of hard-nosed shop owners looking a scaring the obviously strong competition away. Thank God it was foiled. Shoprite need to double their security because methinks they might want to try again ![]() |
You get am correct. I know that some prominent citizens will get him off the hook. How come it took him three days to go to toilet; its because of another drug he took which allows him to stay without toileting until he delivers his stuff even after some days. The average Yoruba man who likes eating orishirishi cannot stay 3 days without visiting the gents to dump all the kpomo, gbegiri, egufe, amala, iyan, shaki etc in his system
Oga i have heard of laxatives. Didn't know that "constipators" exist. Going by ur statement, there is a drug that will prevent one from stooling for 3 days. Care to mention the name? |
Some of u sound like you are disappointed that the NDLEA cleared the guy of the allegation. Na so una beef the guy reach? Na wetin d guy do una sef? Instead wey una go follow am happy say dem don clearam of the allegation. Na wah o! ![]() |
Ijogz K:The "we are carrying out a major network upgrade" boobooyaya is an overused line used by customer service agents globally. it simply means "we also do not know what the flip is wrong with ur phone" ![]() |
I think it is a general problem o! My BB from Airtel was also up and down all thru the weekend. Presently, my BB service is down and has been since about 7am this morning even though I have full 3G connectivity. |
Sad but aint nothing anyone can do about this. As someone who was privileged to have trained most of these guys in the Lagos, Uyo and Abuja call centers, i always made it a point to warn them about the dangers of getting too comfortable in the call centers. Anyone can do customer service. Thr moment you bag a job as a cc agent, you should begin to chart an exit plan. Unfortunately, very few of them heeded my advice. With this purge, you have some of them who have spent upwards of 6 years in the call center suddenly out of a job with no cognate experience to qualify them for their next jobs. 3000 largely unemployable Nigerian graduates have just been pushed out on the streets ladies and gentlemen. Sadly, they have no one to blame but themselves ![]() |
Basics007:Broa I hate to be the one to inform you but if a six ton mass of anything lands anywhere near your compound, you and ur lawyer will probably be too dead to sue. Just saying ![]() |
If only our government believes in allowing their works to speak for them rather than talking and talking about all these lofty projects that hardly ever get to see the light of day, then perhaps they would be spared this kind of embarrassment. Na so so talk but no action. Coal plants for energy, atomic energy, nuclear energy, 20 hydro dams; almost 2 years on and all we get are promises and rebuttals, no power!!! Ph.D certified hot air, managed by a Ph.D certified spokesperson; our economy, managed by yet another Ph.D. Ph.Ds everywhere to manage this FRESH HOT AIR! God save us! ![]() |
Can't believe nairalanders are actually reading this report from "National Daily" and taking it serious. You think the SSS have such a major break in their investigations and none of the big 4 got the story? Preposterous!!! |
Boko Haram has killed or attempted to kill every muslim leader that has come out openly to condemn their activities. Recall that most of the northern governors had to apologize publicly to Boko Haram for their complicity in fighting them. This followed threats made on their lives and those of their families. Yuguda of Bauchi State now governs his state from the US even after he issued an "apology" on TV. Ali Modu Sheriff also apologized to them before they lifted the fatwa on him and his family. Even now, he still lives in fear. None of this northern leaders have the guts to stand up to this guys. The few ones that have come out to speak always end up issuing very tame press releases that wont upset Boko Haram so this clerics's statement is a sharp departure from the norm and I hope he is not digging his own grave. The federal government needs to tackle these guys once and for all!!! |
Isnt there a legal ramification to this idiocy? I mean can you sack someone from a job just because they are not indigenes of a state in Nigeria? Surely thats gotta be illegal innit! |
The truth is surely a bitter pill to swallow. While we all play at being ostriches, Nigeria burns all around us. I hope we will still have a country by the time we learn to pay less attention to the messenger but listen to the message. The death knell sounds even clearer now and its not even 2015 yet ![]() |
