I would be so glad. Nice one Sir.
It took me more than 20 years to build that business but not without so much failures to learn from. I lost N7 million plus in the 2008 stock market manly to bank shares and instead of liquidating it, i kept it there until my stockbroker advised that I should liquidate them which fetched me just above N3 million. He further instructed that I should buy Nestle PLC shares at N105 then. I sold some when it got to N2000 per share and expanded my business seven years ago.

Nestle shares for me now is a lifelong investment that i intend to leave for my kids not liquidating them. Thats the kind of vision one should have.

My take is research extensively on any investment before making a final decision.

Savings vs. Investments: Which should you, go for?

The longtime debate stands between Savings and Investment, which is better! Before you come into the post and scream “Investments”, I sincerely want you to read and digest the post.

Savings, as written in this post doesn’t mean the regular bank savings account. Please refer to the previous post for more details.

https://topwritersden.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/saving-and-investments-which-should-you-go-for.jpg

You must have come across this quote that compares savings and investment before “Investments make you rich, while savings make you poor”. This is absolutely false and would never be true. Financial illiteracy is the reason why many people keep losing money in the financial market and blame the devil for such action.

This post would help you decide whether you are ripe to create investments, or you should build up your portfolio with a good discipline savings culture.

Difference between Savings and Investment

Is there any difference between these Savings and investment? The answer is yes, and I will explain below.

“Saving is an Investment, but an investment isn’t saving.”

The above statement has been proven correct by financial experts, and I will show you an example below.

According to TheBalance, “Savings helps you make money while investing MIGHT help you build wealth”

Putting the above statement in another way, when you invest, you are more likely to lose your money and become poor than when you save.

https://topwritersden.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/saveinvest-speculate.jpg

The basic difference between Savings and Investment is just the Profit margin and risk factor.

Savings = Zero Risk investments + Low-profit margin.

Investing = High Risk + High-Profit margin.

This simply means that Savings can be called investments, but investments cannot be called savings.

A friend of mine had 600k Naira in his account and invested about 400k in setting up a poultry farm. After 4 months, all the bird suffered from a particular disease and died. He was left with just 200k to plan his life again.

A woman has 1 million Naira in her account and invested about 900k in a particular share she was advised to buy. The Share lost its value and she came back home empty-handed.

“What a way to spend her hard earned money”

There are also success stories of people who invested and got out successfully, but in investing, it is nothing but pure luck and a little bit of financial literacy.

A particular popular firm in Lagos known for it rich financial background has been declared bankrupted and taken over by the appropriate body. Shareholders and stakeholders have gotten their fingers burnt, which means Goodbye.

Things to do before you decide to Invest as a Starter

1. Have robust savings account far from your reach

A lot of people contacted me after my last post on how they could invest. After I talked to them about the need to save money before investing, I became a prophet of doom to them. They forget that the fastest way to lose money or gain money is to invest. This is a big difference between Savings and Investment

As a low salary earner, a working class person with a family with no major savings, young people building their lives, saving for a while will give you the leverage to invest.

"Investment portfolios will never stop to cease, but saving requires discipline and focus."

https://topwritersden.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/fact-about-saving-1__ptimized.jpg

It is impossible to find an investment with so much upside potential without excessive risks to it. Imagine looking for an investment portfolio with an interest margin of 40%, yet you aren’t willing to lose money. It doesn’t work that way.

If you don’t have reserve savings account with more than 500k Naira, then you shouldn’t think of investing in any major portfolio.

You can’t have an account balance of 100k (Home and abroad), and you are thinking to start a business with all of it. Have you calculated your risk factor? Maybe you should just employ me.

Consider your Debts, Cash Flow, and Liabilities.

A married man with 2 kids already has lots of liabilities to consider. The wife, home, kids, school fees, car, and etc are enough debts to consider already.

https://topwritersden.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Budgeting__optimized.jpg

There are several savings investments to invest in, and I will be willing to share in my next post. You can just subscribe and I will inform you when it is out. The basic truth is that you should consider Savings and Investment.

The key to saving like I discussed in my last post is avoiding the banks (Where you won’t touch your money)

Save for a while before you invest

According to Warren Buffet (the chief saver), he said “Investments might make you rich, but savings will never make you poor).

One advice I give my clients is that before they decide to invest, they must show me their savings balance.

While you decide to save, you should consider a long-term plan that would enable you to accumulate your money and have a wonderful reserve account.

https://topwritersden.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/chinese-prover-aboiut-saving.png

Avoid High interest and High-Risk Portfolios as a Learner

The brokers won’t tell you this (sorry I am bursting their bubble). Stockbrokers and other financial brokers survive through the money you invest.

As a learner, avoid investment portfolios that promise unrealistic ROIs. They will sucker you in and unload dogshit on you.

I have lost thousands of Naira on several high-risk investments, and I have made millions from high-risk investments too. So I know exactly what it feels like.

If you have worked as a working class person with an average salary of 45k for above 3 years without a savings balance of 800k Naira. What you need is financial discipline and not investments for now.

Accumulate money with savings, and build wealth with investments. That is the relationship between savings and investment.

Travel › Re: FG Still Eyes Arik, Aero As Fulcrum For National Carrier by rhames(m): 11:19am On Mar 09, 2018
Nkemakonam62:
Despite the process currently going on to create a national carrier, Akelicious has learnt that the federal government still hopes to establish the new airline on the foundation already laid by Arik Air with technical support from the maintenance section of Aero Contractors.

According to informed source from the industry, it would be a lot easier to build the national airline on the operations of Arik Air, which is currently under the management of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) along with Aero Contractors than to establish an entirely new airline.

The source said that establishing a new airline from the scratch would take a longer time and might not be realised before the termination of the current administration.

The federal government early last year established transaction advisers for a new national carrier and also for the concession of the nation’s major airports.

Akelicious also learnt that with the advancement made by Aero Contractors in establishing a maintenance facility for Boeing B737 classics and working on upgrading to conducting maintenance on New General Boeing B737 aircraft types, which is the aircraft largely in the fleet of Arik Air, it would be easy to marry the two airlines and form the basis for the establishment of a national carrier.

Although it is not yet confirmed by the Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, but Akelicious learnt that the federal government may work with Qatar Airways as core investor for the new national airline and if it goes as planned, the Middle East airline would supply the new carrier most of its large-body aircraft to commence operations to international destinations.

However, many airline owners currently in operation are not positively disposed to Nigeria establishing a national carrier because they believe government would favour it against them and this would drastically affect the market, as most of the passenger traffic would be mopped by the new airline, which would enjoy government’s support with waiver in charges and many other favorable considerations.

Akelicious also learnt that the owners of Aero and Arik, which are currently under the management of AMCON, have muted that they would sue the federal government if their interests are not met in the plan to establish a national carrier.

Also AMCON may not be disposed to incorporating Arik Air and Aero into the national carrier project because the Corporation is disposed to recovering its huge funds sunk in the two airlines and there would be no guarantee that these funds would be recovered when the two airlines metamorphose to a national carrier with a core investor and private sector driven management and ownership with little government stake, as enunciated by Sirika.

AMCON had earlier indicated that its management had severally turned down the request to use the two airlines as national carrier, arguing that the debt overhang in the airlines would not make such start up feasible because this means that the new airline would be laden with debts at inception.

Besides, AMCON said that it was more interested in recouping the whooping funds projected to between N16 to N20 billion expended on Aero and about N190 billion on Arik to save them from sinking and to sustain their operation.
Industry consultant and CEO of Belujane Konsult, Chris Aligbe, who is fully in support of establishing a national carrier, said that to a large extent, the federal government has been very transparent in the process of establishing a national carrier; unlike in the past when negotiations were done under the table.

On the adoption of Aero and Arik Air, Aligbe said the federal government cannot use the airlines without involving their owners, so if they sue government it might obstruct the plan to establish the national airline or delay its emergence.

On the opposition of the current domestic airlines to a national carrier, Aligbe said that he does not think that the airlines would have the locus to go to court and stand down the plan for a national carrier; rather, they could seek that whatever privileges given to the new national airline should be extended to them.
“They can go to court and seek for equal privileges because favouring one airline against others will be anti-competition,” Aligbe said.

Nigerian politicians initiating gigantic projects that will not see the light of the day. Lets make a head count of how they have destroyed this country with corruption and sinking the nation further into debts it may not be able to repay irrespective of their gender, race, tribe or affiliation

1} Nigeria Airways- Destroyed by the Military regimes and one of the people who destroyed it then under the IBB regime, is in PMB's cabinet and appears as the voice of aviation on television good morning Nigeria. It employed over one hundred thousand people directly and indirectly during its hey days.

2} The steel companies{ Ajaokuta, Aladja, Katsina, etc} A sum of USD $30 billion has been spent since inception and completion of these projects over three decades ago and they are yet to take off. The combined steel plants that have the capacity to employ over two million people directly and indirectly if these projects are allowed to take off. When the indians came and stole it dry. It is still funny to note that the same Indians, Global Infrastrucure, who were sent out by the Belgian Government some years ago and also by the Yaradua Government, have found their way back to"manage" it.

3.} The textile industry: This was the largest employer of labour in its hey days. It employed over 500,000 directly and indirectly and had its products exported to the West, Central and North African regions until the 1990's when economic policy reversal and the invitation of the Indians and Asians who eventually sent it to an early grave.

It will take the whole year to list these moribund industries including those like NNPC which is under producing.

So before anyone of these politicians say something, someone, a fellow politician, has said it before.

Big Brother Naija: “We didn’t know that Nigerians liked sex like that” – Vandora on viewers saving Mina

The first Big Brother Naija eviction show happened on Sunday, February 17, 2018, and the pairs of Van Dee (Vandora and Dee One,) Pritto (Bitto and Princess) were evicted.

Nina and Miracle, who have often been described as a weak pair by other housemates, led the votes with 28.5%. They were followed by Teddy A and Bambam with 21.5%.

The evicted pairs, Van-Dee and Pritto, got the least votes with 2.98% and 3.05%, respectively.

In this interview with Pulse, Vandora shares her reaction when she found out Nigerians saved the romantically involved pair, Mina and Miracle, who most housemates had thought would exit the show first.

The evicted housemates also talked about which pair they had thought would be evicted that Sunday.

Vandora on Nigerians saving Mina

We didn’t know that Nigerians liked sex like that. In terms of conversations and all that, they [Mina] were the most reserved group. But for them to come out on the top just because of that…

People in the house don’t even understand that’s the hierarchy because, in the house, it’s on the flip side.

On which pair they thought would be evicted

Dee One – Mina.

Khloe – Ceebi

Bitto – It was almost a unanimous decision in the house from when we started nominating housemates to be up for eviction that we will put Tobi and Cee C up, and that was for the fact that they had isolated themselves and that was one of the reasons why we lost wagers. So they were the obvious ones people wanted out of the house.

The evicted housemates were up for possible eviction alongside 14 other housemates.

In an interview with Pulse, they also shared who they think should win the Big Brother Naija reality show.

There would be no eviction this week as Biggie is giving viewers enough time to get to know the new #BBNaija pairs.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, has revealed what government ought to do to stop herdsmen/farmers’ clash.

According to him, the Federal Government should first brand killer-herdsmen a terrorist group then increase its fire-power in Benue State as a way of stalling further attack on innocent citizens by armed herdsmen.

In an interview with Vanguard, Prof. Sagay said: “My take on the herdsmen-farmer clash is that the Federal Government should now increase its fire power in Benue state and other trouble spots, because these armed terrorists are people who have no fear of any form of government, government’s reaction or position; they have no respect for the sanctity of life. These are just animals, wild animals. They are not better than jackals and animals in the forest. They don’t have any human emotion at all.

“The only thing they fear is if you come with fire power, you kill a few of them and the rest will run away.

“I think, with the military being brought into it and their moving into those forests, we are going to see a very sharp drop in their criminal actions.

“I absolutely agree that armed-herdsmen are a terrorist group, as far as I am concerned. What their objective is, if they have any, is to terrify the population, to kill innocent people, frighten them and make them submissive and totally broken. Yes, they are a terrorist group.”

nairavsdollars:
*Blasts Proponents Of Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Monday said Nigeria would be embarking on a dangerous journey if it elected a youth as president.

In a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT, on Monday, Sagay said there was no evidence that youths were better than elders in leadership.

He argued that anyone thinking youths would perform better in positions of authority in Nigeria was shallow-minded.

While urging the youths to come out and fight for power, he argued that power was not served a la carte, adding that the older generations would not willingly hand over power to youths on a platter of gold unless the younger generations worked for it.

The constitutional lawyer also lambasted proponents of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run movement, urging them to wait till they attain the constitutionally required age for contesting public office.

According to him, it is absurd seeing a 20-year-old coming to contest as senator of the Federal Republic.

“Number one: it is shallow-thinking for anyone to think that if a youth becomes president, he will do better than the older one.

“It is very shallow thinking because, as I see it, it is the youths of Nigeria today who believe in overnight wealth, who want billions overnight, who don’t want to work for their living and gradually build up their assets and business.

“That psychology of overnight wealth is almost exclusively a youth attribute.

“Number two: who is stopping the youths? All these people who are advocating that the youths should take over are in essence saying the older ones should just call the youths and say ‘come and take power’.

“If you want power, you work for it. You are not going to sit down in your sitting room and somebody will bring power to you. Let them join the fray.”

Giving instances of young leaders in the world such as Emmanuel Macron of France, Sebastian Kurz of Austria and George Weah of Liberia, Sagay said these young leaders stepped out of their comfort zones, campaigned for votes and were voted for by the electorate before assuming the mantle of leadership.

Sagay also cited the example of President Muhammadu Buhari, who succeeded after three failed attempts at the presidency.

He, however, said Nigeria may regret having a youth as president as the preponderance of evidence points to the fact that it is riskier to have a youth at the helm of affairs of Nigeria.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians to maintain the status quo, which implies allowing President Buhari to continue for another term in office.

“All these people they mentioned, like France’s President Emmanuel Macron, Sebastian Kurz of Austria, and other young leaders worked hard for it.

“They came out in the open and campaigned for votes and people voted for them.

“George Weah was tenacious in his quest until he got it. Even President Buhari succeeded in his fourth attempt.

“They will be fooling themselves if they think they can sit on their backpedal and somebody will hand over power to them. That is a pure delusion.

“Speaking generally, there is no evidence whatsoever that the youths are better.

“In fact, the preponderance of evidence is that it is riskier to have a youth, at least in this country, at the helm of affairs.

“We will regret it. So, let’s just leave things as they are. Let people come to power naturally by the political process that we know. That is the only way forward,” he said.

Speaking of the recent youth movement, ‘Not-Too-Young-To-Run’, he said: “Are they frightened that they will not live up to the constitutionally required age?

“It is very odd to hear 20-year-olds say that they want to become senators. That, to me, is preposterous.

“Why are they in a rush? They shouldn’t be in a rush as if they won’t live up the constitutionally required age.”

Sagay’s position is in sharp contrast with two former leaders, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida, who in two separate statements have urged Nigerians to elect a new breed of young leaders to manage the affairs of the nation from 2019.

In a recent statement entitled, ‘Towards a National Rebirth’, signed by Kassim Afegbua, Babangida’s Media Adviser, the former military president advised Nigerians to do away with analogue leaders and embrace those of the digital age.

On his part, Obasanjo called on President Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019 while asking Nigerians to support his Coalition for Nigerian Movement which seeks to install new breed of leaders in 2019.

Nigerians coming to Russia for the 2018 World Cup who will need people like you wit a command of Russian and can help them navigate around during the fiesta. At the last World Cup in Brazil 2014, most Nigerians and Africans could not speak Portuguese and their poor hosts have a challenge with English.
