DubaiLandLord1: The Ikorodu-itokin-ijebu ode expressway have totally been abandoned... Why? The road is terrible and filled with Fulani heardsmen kidnapping people.
If you wan pass itokin go ijebu ode, you will have to pass through Epe.
I'm sure this kin thing dey happen for USA too
Anybody wey fill say I dey lie, make dem go pass the road and give us update Bullshit. I was on this road last week. If there are kidnappers here they would be Arogbo Ijaw. Since two years ago they've been kidnapping in Lagos Ibeju Lekki and Ogun waterside. They would actually write letters saying they would strike Nigerians are just weak, cowardly, scared and so paranoid they can't even think straight anymore. About four years ago, Niger Delta militants sneaked into Lekki from pipeline vandalization locations they had become lords of in Lagos and kidnapped secondary school children. Every Govt resource was spent to free the kids and take out their camps. Those security incidents were from ND militants BUT nobody taljed about dividing the country or blamed it on a tribe. Everyone saw it as a crime perpetuated by some criminals. This was when brains were still working. ND milliants have also kidnapped and killed far more than Fulani herdsmen if you add the cult wars, bunkering turf fightings and inter community wars together but hey, no dividing the country they are just Ijaw people. If one does not know how to think, one should just shut it. If all you see are tribes, domination, victims and oppressors then you have problems |

Thoughts on hiring PMCs ?
I know almost everyone on this thread at one point or the other advocated for STEPP to be back, But Eeben Barlow talk say he is not coming back , he is done with Nigeria.
I Know the Gov advised FG to get mercenaries to take the battle to them , does it mean the FG is taking his advise and perhaps FG advise too ? Nobody serious wants PMCs. Wagner has its hands full anyway and their presence on Nigerian soil will motivate and embolden ISWAP. STEPP performed well only in some idiots' fantastic mind. The war is not about fighting skills. ISWAP don't have fightng skills. The war is about winning hearts and minds in the North East and tired old Russians escaping Russian weather don't have skills in that area as we all saw in Afghanistan. This story is full of holes. There is no argument there, is so simple as ABC. So who did it?. Nigerian victim mentality and persecution mania would cause some people to say Buhari. DubaiLandLord1: Governor sanwo olu said he didn't invite them.
The internet is your friendm The ignorance in Nigeria is unbelievable. The Army is part of Lagos State security architecture. OP MESA Hilux vans patrol Lekki Expressway. They have been patrolling it for years. Asking who invited the Army is in the same class of questions as " who ordered protesters shot". The organizers of that protest wanted to see blood on the ground. They wanted lives taken and that red stain on the ground and they got it. They should feel proud of themselves. Locking down an expressway for over 10 days and just when they got their" blood" they stopped. Meanwhile no celebrity, no David, no WizzKid on the day of death. Rather a small man pikin and even though we can't find the bodies, let it be recorded for the devil that there was a Massacre. You know what, there will be consequences. |

Perhaps if Nigeria does what Saudi does Nigerians might be pleased. We can start by cancelling the democracy we fought and shed blood to gain, and crown bubu or the next president since bubu is old already, king for life, if just so we see if we prefer that.
https://www.amnesty.org.uk/saudi-arabia-human-rights-raif-badawi-king-salman Saudi Arabia lured a regime critic to their Embassy in Turkey, cut him up into little pieces and sent the chopped pieces back home. Russia is nicer, they just inject plutonium into you and you die a slow painful death. The US itself killed a high official of a sovereign government in Iraq at the airport using a cruise missile. Anytime I hear some duncy talk from fake Nigerian fawners after US and Europe, I get full of contempt. You absolutely don't know what you are talking about. |

Stormtrooper11: Damn. Curfew? Heard this countless times. Curfew was 8pm. People were hearing shots at 6:50 pm. We got no excuse for killing our people. Why don't you arrest them? Was the Army invited? Things were already bad before those protests. Nigerians protested not only because of Sars but inequality and bad economic policies. We all saw the looting of warehouses that followed. People were hungry and poor. SA and Nigeria are different situations entirely. One is using the cover of protesting for a politician to loot, cos of poverty and unemployment. The latter, is fed up with its government. Only one thing relates both, i.e Poverty and unemployment. Its the fuel for protests and anarchy If there was an intention on the part of the Army to kill, the place would be soaked in blood. That bait, that trap on the Buhari regime would have caught. There was no massacre at that toll gate. I drove past the place the day after. We need honesty in this country. Whatever guys thought they were trying to achieve, Buhari wont be a victim. He has barely two years. He is late 70s. He has been Head Of State twice BUT the condition of young people in Nigeria has not changed post the demonstrations. It has gotten worse. The demonstrations inspired the ESN attacks, Bandits and all the current attacks against law enforcement and a particular generation will pay for the software decay. Thankfully not mine |

Stormtrooper11: It's not about the number of the dead. I don't know why we keep defending things aimlessly. Was the Nigerian Army at the toll gate? Yes. Were protesters shot and injured? Yes. Did we lose at least a Nigerian citizen to a Nigerian army bullet? Yes. Case closed. Firstly, the Nigerian army wasn't supposed to be there. I don't know if there was any official invitation by the government. The Nigerian army wasn't supposed to shoot live rounds on its citizens or at any target cos it wasn't a violent protest. The Nigerian army wasn't shot at or assaulted. This is a total breach of the Nigerian army rules of engagement and international laws guiding human rights. The rotesters were not supposed to be there. There was a curfew. A curfew was imposed because acts of arson and looting were already taking place. Nigerians should eschew sentimentality and victimhood. It is very irritating. Why block the most important highway in Lagos to protest against Police?. Itwas most cowardly and I am perversely happy that many young people have lost jobs, livelihoods and careers due to the reduction in FDI caused by the demonstrations. Guys will learn the hard way and generationally that you don't ever misuse your freedoms. In SA the same stupidity. A corrupt politician jailed for stealing from a generation of young people and same youths wrecked their own country protesting the Judgement. A generation of dunces. |

BlackBaron: Away from the cacophony, white noise and exaggeration on SM, facts still point to culpability of the NA led to death of certain individuals at the toll gate.
But I guess you choose what to believe.
Funny some of you on this thread may even turn out worse than the current tyrant in Aso Rock if you were in power. A significant number of protesters came with guns. This was carried all over SM as well. Videos I personally saw showed the Army firing blank bullets. If ENDSARS is going to prevent us getting US weapons, all wheel and good. Hopefully bandits get empowered and start on the fine boys and girls in the cities who make up the bulk of EndSARS. The point at which Nigeria is now, people should start suffering consequences of their actions immediately. Maybe brains will reset. |

Nemesis4you: For that i need to be first need to be in a paygrade where i can be briefed on the various technical economical geopolitical requirements/compulsions and then make a decision to the best of my capabilities
Feel free to recommend me
Anyways let me give a "uninformed" opinion for whats it worth
I would have gotten Mi17s with guaranteed after sales support for atleast 5 years direct from OEM, organize them into 3-4 air cavalry (air assault) groups with well equipped & trained troops solely for conducting behind the line operations be it interdiction of supply lines , hit and run, reinforcement , ground holding till linkup etc
How do i put it , successfull and effective CI/CT ops are best done through close contact combat, mission yields are more generally, insurgents / terrorists usually are the ones to take the initiative to attack, you need to reverse it, find them and hit them on your terms for that rapid vertical deployment is the need of the hour
Fair warning i repeat it is a uninformed opinion with no inputs as to the actual compulsions / requirements / idea on ground realities . It is easy to give opinions especially when ones neck is not on the line , there are worth a dime a dozen in real life , actually worthless Nigeria is fighting cowards and opportunistic attackers. We call them ISWAP. All what you posted above does not work. There are no major ISWAP bases to speak of outside of the Lake Chad Islands area. There are makeshift settlements everywhere that their cells use. The Nigerian Army comes across and overruns these frequently and they post pictures of burning motorbikes, hard drugs, stolen vehicles and abandoned weaponry. The enemy is not holding a fixed position and does not come out to fight until it sees weakly defended outposts or temporarily depleted bases. Most attacks are exploited for propaganda values and pictures are posted on SM. This is why air assault groups won't work. The enemy would simply either run away or their bases would be just too small to justify the mission in most cases. However using air assault as follow up to air strikes might be a good idea. |

Whyem15: What is the unit cost of the plane? The engine? The other systems too, unless there are other components to the deal, it won't add up. And the most important thing is that is that the next thing for the army? $800 million on 12 helos+ spares? Having in mind the poor maintenance culture of the army. What is the next thing for the Army?. They asked for Army Aviation and Nigeria has said yes. They have already trainined pilots in basic stuff. Some already in India. Every modern country has an Army with Aviation arm. The Nigerian Navy has pilots. Why are you making a detour to where we have passed. The GOCs want choppers that can enable them control battle space without depending on a force that can be so depleted that a lone pilot was flying Alpha Jet just days ago and got shot down Do you know how much NAF spent on MRAPs, tavors, machine guns and secure ground comms? The Nigerian Airforce even have their own SFs. |

Whyem15: What's even the unit cost of the AH-1 cobra that the deal is worth over $800 million, please let's discuss it so we can find out the numerous stuffs wrong with this deal.... A unit of the APKWS is $22,000 The unit cost of the Hydra 70 rockets that goes with the APKWS is $2800
If they are buying 2000 APKWS and 10000 Hydra 70 rockets, that's just $100,000000
Where is the remaining $700,000000 going to? The deal would be structured like Super Tucano my friend. It is hardware + systems + infrastructure for ops and maintenance. The NA has no Cobra pilots yet and new mechanics. You guys have come with desktop calculators. In case you don't realize it, at least 50% of forests in Nigeria are now teeming witl bandits and militants. Unless you are going to put 500,000 people in uniform to go kill them, it is going to have to be ISR, mobilize, take off, kill, return to base for the next few years. |

Just engines, avionics, systems and you have something cheaper, more reliable and effective than MI35Ms Turkish Army still using SuperCobras |

We also know there's been a big bone of contention between the NA and the NAF tussle for superiority over the battle field. My point is, we cannot put the cart before the horse, Let the Army provide it's priority equipments first before diving head first into aspects.
Invest in communication gears, MRAPs,. armoured divisions, special units and other basics. Choppers are the only priority equipment now. ISWAP are setting up ambushes every day. To go the route you guys are thinking: MRAPS, IFVs, et. c, the NA needs 200,000 men in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa alone and the war will take 10 more years. |

MI-35M can also fire guided missile. Fvck that overpriced copter. MI35M is slow, heavy, lumbering and cannot fight, return, fight again a d be ready the next day again to fight. Only the US has done the reliability engineering work that guarantees that level of availability of helicopters . They learnt it the hard way in Vietnam. Look at the profile of the AH1. Very thin profile and difficult to shoot down. The cockpit is just as armoured as MI 35M. |

What will the 12 change that hundreds of IFVs and MRAPs won't do and more. You definitely don't know what you are talking about. These IFVs and MRAPs are just prolonging the war. In this Boko Haram war, APCs, IFVs, MRAPs are just good stuff, they are not overwhelming force. We need overwhelming force to end this quickly and the only way is armed attack helicopters of good reliability. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by RiceProducers: 7:18pm On Jul 28, 2021 |
Xbee007: It is a foolish buy, definitely. That helicopter started production at the early stage of Vietnam war. I beg your pardon. The AH1 is still in service. The reliability is 4x that of MI 35M. I still wonder why people don't get updated about things. The version Nigeria is planing to buy would be a able to fire APKWS enabled rockets and ATGMs, dies that sound like old tech. How could anyone say AH1s are old?. Of course they were active during the Vietnam War. Of course there are modern versions flying in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco et. C. The most serially modernized and upgraded combat helicopters in history. AH64 Apache is a slight departure from AH1 not the modern version of AH1. The Jonathan administration actually attempted to buy these choppers in 2013. As for Congress blocking it, Nigeria is actually just playing a good game. The Plan B would be MI28N (which I don't like) or more of the MI35M When the Americans come with sanctions, Nigeria wants to be able to use lobbyists to make the point "we came to you first" and you said NO. The US may also be concerned (their capacity for silliness is high) about a future Nigerian civil War with their weapons falling in the hands of one side and the negative publicity. |

Facts don't lie the Pakistanis won. Period. The Pakistanis are some of the best airforce pilots it the world BUT this exercise is a very remote possibility in an actual war. The JF 17 wouod be seeing / enjoying clear skies with nothing showing on is headset display when missiles from Rafale would hit. Don't forget Rafale disappears from radar or creates fake new Rafales at the touch of a button. India's Rafales also have long range AA missiles that behave like dogfighting combat aircraft themselves. |

Covert1: Scour the internet some of these things are open source intelligence. Other things I can't divulge. I'm busy except when I have time which I can't say. Besides before you jump to the Rafale 4, I was talking of the basic Rafale model not having certain elements already incorporated into the JF-17 which the more advanced Rafale variants not yet in service with French Air Force are set to have.
And you have to believe it. The JF-17 Thunder in recent exercises outmaneuvered the Rafale. Now there are factors like pilot proficiency that can also contribute to that besides jet performance which clearly the JF-17 excelled. Performed better against Rafale than some F16s. English is not our mother tongue but this is simple enough to understand. Two single engined aircraft compared against Rafale. I am pretty sure not one of the late modeled F16s. |

You heard what the man said, we don't have to be buying jets in 1,2,3 pieces, we should be getting them in squadrons because of our sizes and population, and issues, and I tend to agree with him on that. The NAF is smart. They also plan to buy KJ-100 AEW. That's an AWACS plane with AESA Radar up to 450km. So you can link up nicely with many JF17 Block 2s and enjoy JF17 Block 3 capabilities. |
