Nigeria needs much more than 2 wing loong UCAVs. We need 40pcs after a short assessment period of these two. UCAVs should be permanent part of the hardware elements of national security architecture. |

kabe1: Politics aside, Buhari has tried very well in terms of equipping the military.
I agree that security has been worse under this administration, but with regards to providing the tools the military needs, his government has provided all necessary tools within it's power. İnsecurity being high during Buhari administration is typical Nigerian stupidity. The Niger Delta was like that during Jonathan's administration. Someone should write a book on explaining sub regional restiveness as a function of the ethnicity of whomever is Nigeria's President. |

They are not denying expansionist tendencies. Russia's defence is local ethnic ties and countering NATO expansion. This is like saying Nigeria should invade Benin Republic because it is 1/3 yoruboid people. I come against US, Europe and western countries all the time as well. Like the criminal Trump killing an Iranian official on diplomatic assignment in another country. Or Tony Blair and Sakorzy's crimes in Libya. |

Unless you can show me a timeline of northerners being sold and shipped off. With proof of where they settled after slavery had been abolished. I worked in Saudi Arabia amongst many other places. I had a junior saudi colleague, black guy who told me his Saudi mum (also black) told him her parents came from Nigeria before Saudi Arabia was formed. He did not know whether they came as slaves or pilgrimage and just refused to go back. The lesson is people should stop the idiotic ethnic self determination nonsense and stop fighting the ' spread ' of God. There are many people claiming to be Hassan, Igbo or Yoruba if when checked carefully wre actually from other tribes originally. You don't know much |

motymop: Russia have been able to evade american sanctions and most Russians aren't really affected by american sanctions.
I read that Russia recently moved and stored all their foreign reserves in Gold rather than the american dollars.
It also seems most of Russia suppliers engage businesses in their currency Sanctions are targeting supply chains feeding weapons programs. Russia is probably 85% self sufficient in spares and alloys going into say, the MI 35M chopper. The remaining 15% may have subcomponents of components within systems that have to be sourced from companies exposed to the USD ($) in international trade. They can hit those companies or companies associated with them. The Americans have an entire bureaucracy chasing these things and fund flows using high speed computers et.c |

There was a referendum in Crimea. The Crimeans voted to join Russia.
Russian black sea fleet is based in Sevastopol, so you expect Russia to just hand over their military assets in Crimea to the West?
Why did Britain go to war in the Falklands? A historically Argentine territory?
Russian has been in existence for over a thousand years, why you think Putin is responsible for holding Russia together shows your ridiculous ignorance of Russia. You cleverly left out Ukraine. They voted to allow conquest by Russia too?. What about all the suppression of the opposition?. I want to see a strong Russia acting as counterweight to the west (even though they are actually part of the west now in many ways) but I also want to see a Russia evolving in the direction of human freedom and the embrace of opposing political views. |

And ignoramus started this thread. In the 70s, Japan was the No1 terrorist infested country on earth, followed by Germany. They were called the Japanese Red Army and they were mostly communist. Now they have the Aum.
In Germany, urban communist inclined terrorist group called the Bader Meinhoff gang killed many industrialists.
I find that most Nigerians are extremely ignorant of history and social science and have lapsed into being passive sponges for reactive news on social media instead of trying to understand social forces that drive events. |

NTSA: As far as the hardware is good, in my opinion, Nigeria needs to invest in countering the terrorist ideologies. If the military can win over the hearts and the minds of the Northern populace, Fewer people from there will be willing to join terror or criminal gangs. This will also make intelligence gathering easier since people will actively provide information Governance should be visible in rural areas. Local Government Area reforms will do it. Govs should stop stealing LGA funds. Let police posts be well equipped. Provide renewable energy sources. Provide viewing centers, schools and medicare. When the mind is bombarded by many influences and there is security, radical Islam won't take root. Funny enough, the Niger Delta is not better. So also many communities in the SW Bring back strong LGAs now. |

Salatavor: Hehehehe battle field air dominance with super Tucano? We are trouble in this country.
You people here must think other nations joke with issues of security and defense... With what we have currently and our shameful show of weakness before an uncivilized and untrained gang of insurgents, any war between Nigeria and an African nation that knows its salt, will be fierce, short and decisive. Propaganda will not save us when we are faced with an enemy that understands our weaknesses.
Super Tucano Air dominance. Haba. You think you will be fighting with a tribe of unexposed Kenyan safari people who are armed with spare? The tucanos will be shot down by even the oldest cold war era air defense systems.
Nigeria is populous and we have crowd, but how mobile is that crowd how mechanized is our army. Can we move 2 divisions of the army from one place to the other without exposing our soft belly?
The Nigerian armed forces is weak, slow and too heavy to move itself. I said battlefield dominance from the air. I did not mean air superiority stuff or SEAD capability. You say the Army is slow and yet you think it is T90s that will make the Army fast. Where does that happen? Please let Google be your friend. Look at the MBT inventories of the UK, France and Germany. Why are they not in the '000s, it is because they know what they are doing? Simulations and wargames have shown those things don't work as we used to think. Look at the latest Armenia-Azerbaijan war. How many tanks did you think rolled and how many were taken out by UCAVs and slow moving aircraft firing precision weapons? The Super Tucano is carrying the same weapons that top ĺine F16s carry. It has the same defensive counter measures that F16s have - flares, decoys and is highly maneuverable. On top of this, it launches ordnance from stand off distances. It is a very effective compliment to JF17s and F7NIs in the order of battle |

LTGEN: Please do you have any snippets on whether the NA intends to buy the T-90 this time around? Oga, you know this story. The NA converted an earlier T90 order to MRAPs. Why would we be fielding T90?. I can understand Egypt or Algeria or Ethiopia with their terrain. They would only hamper us with Boko Haram. For conventional threats, Chad or Cameroon are not going to attack us with large armoured columns. Actually i am hoping any potential enemy displays such order of battle against Nigeria. We will finish the tanks over a 10km sq area in 30 minutes. So no more T90. I am thinking maybe more Chinese tanks just to make up numbers. Generally I think a war in West Africa will apply resources of a typical Gahnaian or Chadian ORBAT. A little like those Chadian rebels from Libya fielded against Deby:- lots of very fast gun trucks, MRAPs, tank destroyers. Nigeria would add choppers, MI35Ms and Super Tucanos for battle field air dominance. |

They made an attempt to kill him when they opened fire on his home residence before he could escape, same thing they did to Sunday igboho killing people at the dead of the night. The terrorist- enabling FG would give an arm and leg to get rid of anyone exposing their criminal tendencies but caresses terrorist and killer fulani herdsmen spreading their agenda. If they had wanted to kill Kanu, he would be dead since. Nigeria is not Saudi Arabia or Russia or Turkey. We are a confident country in handling separatists turned terrorists like Kanu and Igboho. We have more than 5 decades of handling low intensity conflicts and YES Kanu should be grateful is not Saudi. They chopped a dissident into many pieces in their embassy in Turkey and shipped the body parts home |

Nobody who went to school asks this question. He was actively disenfranchising people by campaigning against elections He threatened traditional rulers. He actually threatened the Gov of Oyo State. He led a mob that overran and disarmed customs men at border posts. He had a stockpile of arms. He preached and actively plotted the dissolution of the Nigerian federation.
These are serious offences. |
