Why not married? I simply told her to give me her brother or any man in her family that has money and will gladly marry him the next day. The whole office turned into a grave yard followed by thanks and God bless you for honoring our invite |
Many so-called managers need to learn and re-learn how to manage people. It is difficult to manage people but it is also very easy to manage people if the manager doesn't feel too bossy to do so. Constant and regular feedbacks will help improve your that employee and ultimately give the manager the time to address other important issues. Continuous Vendetta during appraisal periods indirectly affects the performance of the business in the long run |
Here are 10 ten common misconceptions about being an employee that people need to understand. |
I was consulting with a Fintech MD lastweek and during our conversation, we were trying to look at their workplace culture, the many complexes around their operations, and the interchange with the different generations. We got confused about the generation that was more receptive to change and this brought up the issues of how these were so named. An understanding of the generational characteristics is a must as personality traits often influence actions and decision making ein creating policies that will encourage optimism performance: How many of these generations can you identify and what are their peculiarities in determining your work place culture? 📍 Gen Z or Centennials: Anyone born 1997 onwards. Gen Z grew up with technology, the internet, and social media, which sometimes causes them to be stereotyped as tech-addicted, or “social justice warriors.” They are pragmatic, focused on saving money, and want brands to constantly innovate. Known for their resourcefulness and are independent learners who value DEI and place a priority on well-being and mental health in the workplace. They are fiscally conservative with a keen focus on investing, income and values justice and equity. 📍 Millennials or Gen Y or Digital Natives: Born 1977 – 1995. They are technology natives and grew up with technology, whether a laptop, desktop computer or smartphone. They crave work-life balance, expect collaboration, require a seat at the table and want to keep on learning. They are fickle and willing to job hop if they aren’t satisfied in their current role. 📍 Generation X: Born 1965 – 1976. To work and produce is their philosophy of life amd leaves no room for idealism. Also called Gen Xers, they grew up with minimal adult supervision, quickly learning the value of independence and work-life balance. They also appreciate informality, flexible and are highly educated. 📍 Baby Boomers: Born 1946 – 1964. Are typically hard-working individuals who often define themselves by their professional accomplishments. They have strong work ethic and are not afraid to put in a hard day of work. They are usually self-assured and not afraid of independence. Quite competitive, goal-centric, resourceful, mentally focused and team oriented. 📍 Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before. The term “Silent Generation” was first documented in a 1951 Time magazine article, which claimed that the most startling fact about this generation was its silence. They were unaffected by immigration because of the Great Depression and World War II. Brought up with traditional and cultural values. Social forces emphasized values such as hard work, loyalty and thriftiness when the Silent Generation was coming of age. I have left out two generations: Greatest Generations (GI - 1901-1924) and Gen Alpha (from 2010 -TD) because of their ages. Can you identify your generation Copied |

Pay attention to these things during an interview or when applying for a job. Most people don't realise that their bodies or postures communicate the most, say up to 60%, during an interview! The rest is shared between the content, voice and tone...how articulate, confident, relaxed and clearly you communicate your thoughts and responses. I've had to tell my management that I don't just pay attention to the CV, Resumé but pretty much on the candidate's body language, gestures, expressions and articulation. Hear this too: What you say or do impacts up to 70% of your interview aggregate. These seemingly trivial or passive actions set the tone of difference between a pass and a failure, a chance to be called in for a final chat or a #rejectionnote. My advice? Pay attention and choose wisely. 😉😊 There's so much talks about hiring for attitude, kindness, honesty and the rest. I'm also in that campaign group. Here's the thing: 🥊 Remember that #recruiters #employers or #hr hire for suitability as the number one priority! So, check your suitability for positions before applying for a job. That's the first determining factor for an invitation. Trust me, your integrity, coachability, attitude, willingness to learn and grow, excitement to help, etc are not deduced from merely looking at your CV/Resumé. 🥊 Also note that during an interview, recruiters look to hire those traits that fit into the company's policies and corporate #culture. This is for strengthening the continuity of purpose. 🥊 Be bold to say you'd want to stay and build a career with the company if hired, when asked what your 5 years plan looks like. Employers like to hire people who show signs of staying and growing on the job. 🥊 Always find out what the core values, vision, mission of the hiring company, and align your thoughts and answers around those. This shows that you're ready to contribute. 🥊Listen to questions carefully and think, take a breath 5secs, before you attempt to answer. Rushing off could be over zealous and misleading. 🥊Ask the interviewers to repeat, explain or rephrase questions you're unclear about. Please, be polite and use the right language and tone at such times. And hey, keep up the search, preparedness and hope's, some day you'll smile. 😃😊 Rooting for you!!! It's a fresh start into a new working week, make the most out of it. If you've got an interview to attend, I sincerely wish you all the best 👍 It's in you...success! |
