Explorers: Cant just stop laughing, everything is a joke. Nothing is working, Corp members cant parade like this. Except to mount illegal road blocks, ask motorists to park, your particulars, what do you have in your booth, and collect #50.
A friend once said he got to a check point one day, they asked for the particulars and he mistakenly gave them CV. They checked through for some seconds, gave it back and asked him to go. Please don't kill me with laughter. These people don't look smart, they cant even wash and iron their uniforms, what a disgrace. |

Corruption should be included as an Olympic game and I'm sure Nigerians will collect all the medals because they are so fantastic at it, it has become a way of life. |

bishophenry: how can a président of a nation... pay more concern on stolen money more than thé integrity of his nation... Hé doesnt need thé apology but Nigeria needs it. am not just dissapointed with him but also thé stocks of fiasco advisers. The crooks in Nigerian are the ones spoiling the integrity of the nation. There is a saying " He who brings in fire wood infested with ants into his home is the one who invited the Lizard". |

seunmsg: It's so sad reading about how this foreign leaders talk about us without respect but truth be told, we are responsible for all the insult and abuses. We are a terribly corrupt country with terribly corrupt leaders and followers.
For once, we have a president who is trying to clean up the corrupt system and some citizens are fighting and urging him to stop the war on corruption. We've even seen cases where some youths have mounted serious protest against the trials of politicians who are standing trial for corruption under the guise that the trial is political witch hunt.
If we want to earn the respect of the international community, we need to change our shameless support for corrupt leaders and support the president's effort to wage serious war on corrupt former officials. Well said, I couldn't have said it better myself. Everything Cameron said word for word is the truth. Buhari is trying very hard but his efforts are bein frustrated by the same people he is trying to help. what a disgrace and laughing stock. This should be a wake up call. |

What he said is the truth, we should stop burying our heads in the sand. The common notion on the Street is that Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world. Eg there is no country where you don't get bent coppers or uniformed officers, but it is only in Nigeria you will see a full uniformed customed officer asking for bribe to the full glare of tourists without any shame and Nigerians accept it as the norm.
The result of this kind of behaviour is that that name Nigeria doesn't get any respect whre ever they go .
Solution: starting from ourselves we can clean up our country, by sticking to rules, not giving or taking brides, try to live within our means etc |

newdeal: David Cameron who invited him has just been caught on tape calling Nigeria as 'fantastically corrupt' country. According to Cameron , Afghanistan and Nigeria are 'the most corrupt countries in the world'.. Unknown to him, his microphone was still on, it's on BBC breaking news as I type this.
Mr president should make sure that Cameron apologizes and retract such stupid comment,
Cameron's penchant for frivolities and childish comments is well known. (He made similar stupid comment about the Queen to Obama not quite long ago & was exposed by his body microphone)
This time, he has taken his stupidity too far and Mr president owe it to all honest Nigerian to ensure that Cameron apologizes and retract such offensive comment...otherwise..... What he said is the truth, we should stop burying our heads in the sand. The common notion on the Street is that Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world. ncpat: I will answer this question to the best of my knowledge without conducting any research. First and foremost this question is made up of two questions, that is minimum and realistic. The government approved minimum wage in Nigeria is N18,000 but this does not apply to private companies, that means private companies can only pay as they wish but remember that your payment with private companies are always spelt out in their letter of terms or letter of contract also known as appointment letter and you are required to reply if you accept the offer. The realistic part is that the minimum any small company can pay or should pay for such position as mentioned above is N60,000 above . I hope I have answer you but if not, please feel free to ask again. Thanks for your answer . Maybe what I meant to say is that what is the minimum you can pay to get a good accountant/bookkeeper for a small start up company? I want a good accounts person but right now the funds are not there to pay full market rate, if the profits of the company improve then so will the wages. |

My second question is what is the minimum amount a small company can pay to hire a good accountant ( sole company accountant) in Nigeria(Lagos) for a small start up manufacturing sector? Responsible for all the financial and Management accounting? Realistic answers please. |

I've got a basic tax question to ask
Can someone tell me what is the legal requirement of a company in Nigeria when it comes to employee tax deductions and the rates of tax? Also do wages have a threshold at which you don't make any deductions. You can include a link if this helps. Thanks |

optimusmind: Auditing is the independent examination of the financial statements of an entity with a view to make a report as to the trueness and fairness of the balances appearing therein and ensuring that such statement complies with statutory requirements. The person who makes this report is called an AUDITOR Types of audit includes 1. Procedural audit 2. Vouching auditor.
Qualification of an auditor. CAMA 2004 stipulates that to be appointed as an auditor, such a person must be a member of an accounting body in the county established by an act or Parliament. These body includes 1. The institute of chartered accountants of nigiera (ican) 2. Association of National accountant (ANAN) 3. Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA)
Duties of an auditor. The primary duty of the auditor is to make a report as to the accuracy of financial statement of companies. It his not his duty to prevent fraud and errors. Although this is considered a secondary objective.
The opinion of one of my professors, auditors are the real accountants.
.... I am still a student member of ICaN You can ask your professor this question " if Auditors are the real accountants, what does that makes those that did not specialise in auditing?" |
