Career › Re: Banking Career + Masters Pursuit In Abuja, How Tenable? by ruffhandu: 2:30pm On Jun 22, 2015 |
Kockane: Hello everyone,
Please I need your advise. I'm at wits end as to how to successfully combine my career as a banker, which takes almost all of my time, with pursuit of a master's degree.
I am 27, a graduate of Anatomy, 2.2 from a Federal University, with about 2 years banking experience. I recently got promoted to the level of an Assistant Banking Officer (ABO) in one of the top Banks in the country. Take home pay is about 330k/month so I'm fairly comfortable. I'm still single and ain't looking to marry within the next two-three years so I believe I have time to wrap up my masters degree before taking the big step.
I'm looking to further my education, concurrently with my work, no passion for the sciences anymore, so I'm looking at an MBA. I've heard a lot of talk about online programs but I've come to realise they are either overly expensive or the cheap ones have little or no recognition in the labour market. I've tried the distance learning in one of the universities in the southeast but couldn't keep up due to time constraint, had to drop out cuz I missed a couple of tests and exams. I've also considered the National Open Uni but honestly speaking, I'd rather pursue my dreams at an institution with more pedigree (no offense intended).
Pls, I'd appreciate if there are any MBA programs that are cheap and flexible for working class individuals like myself based in Abuja who have a tight schedule. Thanks everyone. Hi, I suggest you enroll for your programme with LBS or EBS, it'll be convenient enough for you. Are you a marketer? I'm on one at the moment. |

The bolded may not happen, Buhari seems to be a gentleman, unless the recruitment itself was a sham, or he really has genuin reason to cancel. He seems to be looking out for what would favour Nigerians, and not individuals. |

Let the candidates involved write an open leter to the President and publish it in the national dailies. Even if he doesn't get to know about it, fear may grip the corrupt people involved and cause them to stop whatever corrupt act they want to engage in; or they may get hit by the change wind. |

I think the issue is the constituency allowances which is handed to them, which they pocket and let the people wallow in lack and underdevelopment.
The constituency allowances should be ensured to be properly utilized.
I opine these lawmakers should be part-time workers. |

But people should stop injustice. If not for the state of our judiciary: where a poor man cannot seek justice; Where, even if he summons all his resources to seek justice, it would become too costly, owing to the duration of the trial, without even the slightest hope of getting what he sought-justice; perhaps people would think less of this.
I guess people have seen how effective traditional (juju) justice system works and chosen it, not just because of its cost-effectiveness, but due to the speed in delivery of justice. You may also wonder why people hand down jungle justice to notorious criminals caught in the act, knowing fully well he had been bribing his way through the Authorities.
It has actually turned our religious institutions into a caricature of some sort; where we are supposed to cultivate good moral values. You can imagine this case- a man taking a Rev. Fr to Juju. If x-rayed, that man belongs to a church, and the Rev might have actually trampled on his rights as well, damning the consequences and turning down all entreaties. What a shame!
Our society has turned on its citizens, tranforming them into something they should have been ashamed to identify with. What, in the first place, should have made a man turn against a clergy man to this extent?
If only people would actually fear and obey God, or whatever they believe in, even if it's themselves, Nigeria would be a better place. |

“They eventually killed him. The kidnappers came back to the area and shot at the petrol tank of the vehicle, resulting in an inferno that burnt the car.”

Nowenuse: Also, based on the 5 major human geographical divisions we have in Nigeria
The Core-northern part of Nigeria, the Middlebelt part, Eastern, Western & Niger deltan
Let's say Margaret Ekpo represents the Niger deltan region as an Ibibio Ladi Kwali represents the Middlebelt region as a Gbagyi woman & Funmilayo Kuti represents the Western (yoruba speaking region)
I'd like to hear from Igbos (easternerns) and the Hausa-fulanis (core-northernerns), who are the most influential Igbo & Hausa-fulani women that ever lived?? Margaret Ekpo was born in Creek Town, Cross River State, to the family of Okoroafor Obiasulor and Inyang Eyo Aniemewue. She married a doctor, John Udo Ekpo, in 1938. He was from the Ibibio ethnic group who are predominant in Akwa Ibom State, while she was of Igbo and Efik heritage. She later moved with her husband to Aba. Reading to comprehend requires presence of mind. |
