I think Kenya has certainly become assertive - as we have grown from Aid-dependent country in 90s that was lectured by IMF/WB/UK/US ambassadors to a country that can ran it's affairs - and the world has started to noticed. The French president is visiting Kenya next month. Nearly every major power have paid homage to the new kenya. Kenya pre-eminence has a solid regional power is being noticed. This is not 200K militia backed army like Ethiopia or Uganda ragtag rebels or MajiMaji of TZ - but regional power in all facets - economy, politics, army and name it. Kenya should start throwing it's weight around. We don't need to negotiate with Somali gov that is being sheltered by Burundi forces. We need to tell them we will get to Mogadishu if need be. kikuyu1: |
I think you need to understand the context. We were fine with Somalia and all our neighbours. Always minding our business. And for nearly 20yrs - everyone went to Somalia and did whatever they wanted. Kenya was contend to stay in it's borders. Then Alshabaab started attacking kenyan bound ships and kidnapping tourist. Alshabaab had made Kismayu their HQ. We had no option except dislodge Alshabab and leave Prof Madobe Ras Kamboni militia in charge of it. Don't start me on Ethiopia. Ethiopia has interfered with Somalia so many times I forget the count. Somaliland and Puntland are Ethiopia vassal states. They keep them as insurance against Djibouti playing hard ball in their port. I think Kenya has for long minded it's business many of it's weak neighbour mistook that for weakness. Now that we are in Somalia - we can as well make our stay there worthwhile. And we can only do that by ensuring Ogadens ran Kismayu until Mogadishu fake Gov learns to behave. I think Kenya should be prepared to stay longer in Somalia. The current tiff with Kenya border is simply because Mogadishu want to have say in Kismayu - and Kenya has refused to play ball. The oil block is just a way to engineer a international dispute so Kenya can be kicked out of AMISOM - and Mogadishu can kick Prof Madobe & ran Kismayu. Let Somali kick Alshaab in the region btw Kismayu to Mogadishu - and we can listen to them. Once they are done hidding in the bunker under Burudian & Uganda forces - they can move inch by inch from Mogadishu to Kismayu - and Kenya forces will withdraw. Hirad: |
Can you buy goats in market that cheaply? They must be cheap. I don't imagine you have that many cultural activities. XhosaNostra: |
Somalia should concentrated on kicking out Alshabab and international terror. I don't know why they are all over the map trying to antagonize kenya that is helping them - hosting many of her refugees, it's defence forces fighting alshabaab right in Somalia and Nairobi really is the un-official HQ of somali. Somalia will not be amount to much until they deal with their misplaced pride. Why are they even trying to auction oil blocks near kenya border. They have like the longest coastline in Africa. It's pure total provocation. Honestly if Somalia was to be ever peaceful - it will cause regional instability - like they used to do in 1970s & 1980s. Hirad: |
I guess you don't have that many goats. We have like 20M goats if I am not wrong. The semi-arid kenya is just teeming with goats. XhosaNostra: |
We are shocked you couldn't hold census, elections and honestly - you need to work on basic - water & electricity & sewage. Kenya we are just mark timming waiting for South Africans ultimate face off in 10yrs. samorobo: |
Underwhelming. You already lost and you're just scrapping the bottom of the barrel now. samorobo: |
But why. I think Kenya is HQ of goat meat consummation - esp for Nyama Choma - barbecued meat. Beef is eaten more as stew & at home - but goat is consumed in pubs with beer. I am not sure how many goats are slaughtered daily - but they could be thousands in Nairobi alone. XhosaNostra: |
Dar Slums and Danganyika will forever remain in the shadows of Nairobi & Kenya. That is just the bitter truth for you.Nobody really knows your unremarkable country. You need to do more to promote it. You're probably one least known large country in the world. I mean both Serengeti & Kilimanjaro are mistakenly taken for Kenya - for just being at the border with Kenya. That leaves the beautiful Zanzibar as perhaps the iconic thing in TZ but we know it's an independent country from Danganyika - sort of Huwai & US. So again what is Danganyika known for? Now I think once Nairobi complete the "few" under construction skyscrappers and gov unleashes half a million units social housing - Joburg will no longer be the go to city in Africa. Nairobi will officially be where big things happen in Africa. Kazikazi: |
I think Nairobi in about few years will overtake Joburg as seen here.

Singapore is a successfully story of social and home ownership. Tayer ideas of small gov works only in developed countries where gov long did all the heavy lifting (built all the infrastructure the country will ever need) and current gov role is basically maintaining the existing infrastructure. There you can argue for small gov - considering 'nearly' everything is in place. Kenya and Africa is different ball-game all together. The infrastructure deficit alone is staggering. The housing deficit is huge - hence all the slums. Jonraid: |
Again here you're making a big mistake to imagine Kenya has the money. Gov is providing land and infrastructure - and 1B dollars annually that it can tax from each kenyan who will get a house in return. The money is out there -26 billion dollars - so far - that are ready and willing to invest in housing. There is pent up demand for affordable housing in Kenya. I am not sure if they are willing to invest in manufacturing - which is a whole of complicated business. House ownership is the first step towards those other ideals - manufacturing name it - we first have to deal with basic needs. TayserMahri: |
I don't see that being a bad thing. That is FDI. They will only those houses under leasehold. TayserMahri: |
Why not? It's a win-win. Foreign investors bring their money - Gov gives them free land. For example Gov just bought 15,000 acres of land in Athi River that belong Portland Cement (disused quary). Investors (foreign or local) will get that land. They will build houses to be sold to kenya cheaply at 1-3M. Investors get back their money through mortgage arrangments - and Kenyans own those houses. Kenyans are getting 1.5% of their salary deducted monthly...to finance the mortagages. Gov is subsidizing the builders by removing the land and infrastructure cost. Until you mean social housing - Kibera slum upgrading type - TayserMahri: |
I see South Africa already have complusory ID card - most of rest of Africa is a jungle. Red-Compulsory ID cards Blue- Non-compulsory ID cards https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/National_ID_card_policy.svg/1024px-National_ID_card_policy.svg.png |
Badly to what? Somali gov exist only in a bunker guarded by Uganda and Burundian Army. It may escalate in 2050 when they finally get their shiet together. tylann: |
Nobody cares about Somalia. They know it will always be troublesome country. We need to annex Jubaland - it won't be formal. Jonraid: |
It really easy - anybody without valid VISA or Permit - should not be there. That may start by first making sure every South Africa is armed with Identification Card. In kenya we have always had a national ID card from 18yrs. Now we are moving it to ID (Social or Huduma) card for every Kenya - including children - together with biometrics. You cannot talk about foreigners without a robust biometrically enabled national Identification system linked to everything - birth certificate - school certificates - name it. In kenya is pretty impossible to operate without National ID - because everywhere you'll be asked for one - entering buildings - you need to show you ID card. But Nigerians and other illegal immigrants turn into noctural animals - just appearing at night - in clubs and sleeping at day or working with lights turn off. Then you send the police and immigration to stop people randomly and ask for ID cards - and voila foreigners will disappear. Lionessza6: |
Awesome. And it just started - Safaricom I read are going to open the pipes - and crazy speeds with crazy bandwidths. Jonraid: |
Why share? Somali are yet to pay Kenya for all the efforts we have put up to help them - and all the pain they have caused. In fact we should grab some of their land. tylann: |
Very good. Jonraid: |
When KaziKazi and Runallong are back home I'll know you guys are serious.Anyway you just need to finance your immigration otherwise 10M immigrants in a country of 50M is way too much. People laugh at Trump but border security & control sometimes is critical. Lionessza6: |
The somalis will cause trouble for a long time - maybe just having independent and weaker Jubaland state is the trick. If we used their logic...then we would annexes huge parts of Tanzania by drawing a straight line. Jonraid: |
Yeah one wishes we had like 10 matiangis. Pretty much they've disappeared now. Somalis are hard because of kenya somalis. We need to enforce immigration otherwise we will become free for all - just imagine South Africa having 10M illegal immigrants. It's crazy. tylann: |
If only their gov had social programs targetting disabled - they won't be used as beggars or hunted for body organs to be used in witchcraft. In kenya disabled are doing fine - earning some money every month - don't pay taxes - duty free import and free schooling. tylann: |
Yeap better nip that in the bud before we become Ghana or South Africa. They were all over Nairobi contributing very little in value but running international criminal syndicates. They needed to be shipped out together with Tanzania witches and beggars. tylann: |
That is what a lazy, poor, primitive and witchcraft Tanzania contributes in East Africa. At least Ugandas are exporting house helps and bar maids. But the man eat nothing spciety is now seriously exporting beggars to every city and town in Kenya. Kenya exports it's highly sought professional to help TZ - and in turn they ship bus loads of disabled beggars to take advantage of kenya generosity. The police said late Wednesday that more than 100 disabled persons were ferried and sneaked at the Kenya-Tanzania border to be used as beggars. tylann: |
Is that why you're exporting street beggars and witches to kenya. The only thing you export to Kenya aparts from onions. The deportation order comes a day after Migori County Assembly member Esther Onana raised concern over the influx of Tanzanians beggars Immigration officials in Nakuru have unearthed a syndicate involved in the influx of beggars from Tanzania and other East African countries to Murang'a County residents have decried the influx of beggars brought by unknown individuals from neighboring Tanzania Tanzania disabled beggars Perusi Kubagwa, Prisca Joseph, Esther Gideon and Khamis Masengenya at Mwembe Tayari in Mombasa after Eldoret police arrest 14 Tanzanian beggars “I was approached by two men who told us that the begging business was better in Kenya Disabled persons smuggled from TZ to beg in Kiambu Tanzanians transporting beggars into neighboring Tanzanian beggars flood Nairobi streets Beggars coming from as far as Rwanda and Tanzania have found refuge in Kenya considering the generosity of the Kenyan people. Kazikazi: |
Kenya immigration patrol cars to hunt down illegal immigrants.

As long as you're producing more technicians than engineers then you're fine. One engineer is enough to manage even 100 technicians. And that has to be critical decision. The same with doctors and nurses. You need more nurses and less doctors. You need more people with practical-hands on experience esp at our stage of development. vaxx1: |
Sorry - sometimes these nigerians bots can be something - anyway we shall see the outcomes. I don't think you can mix universities with technical colleges. I hope we don't start see too many Ghanians with degrees who are jobless and can't fix a light bulb...and whose only hope is to emigrate like Nigerians - and end up washing toilets abroads. Kenya already has that problem - way too many unemployed graduates - majority who did humanities and business courses . The solution was drastic - Gok i think deliberately failed many high schools kid so can they never dream of getting to universities and have to think about vocational skills - and I think it's working. Enrollment in vocation colleges has risen to 180,000 - the target was 400,000 and eventually 3M in 5yrs. vaxx1: |

, atleast they seem bothered as the rest of us with the influx of these " brothers " of ours. Finally ,the Zimbabwe and Mozambique troublesome borders are now taking centre stage . And Mashaba is cleaning up Jozi central , last time I was in Johannesburg I felt like I was in south Africa for a change
