I'm going to tell you again. There's nothing gracious about not stealing my home. If i run for my life and return to my home you can't tell me that you deserve thanks for not robbing me in my time of turmoil.
Ok it's not a gracious act, let's hear what you think it is, and please don't say normal, we all know normal is relative.

Stop being petulant. You refuse to accept the fact that it is not about huge part of the food grown going to waste but about sustainability. With the level at which humans are depleting the resources with earth teeming population in few hundred years wel might run out of the most important ones. It is clear you are looking for an avenue to make population growth as not a great problem. You aren't seeing the picture here.
You still have basic research you need to do, talking about resources: take water for intance, an average westerner will use for morning shower, more water than many subsaharan African families each make use of in a single day, sometimes days, yet you're going to base your plans on data that is a reflextion of their behaviour. Making a sweeping generalization regarding available resources on the planet is a trick being use to drag you into stuff you are not prepared for (and probably won't need), it has happened before don't let it happen again. Go ahead and do a detail investigation on the green revolution.

Sure you will always tell me again, perhaps due to the inability to think of something new, you're welcome to tell me again till kingdom come.

I'm going to say this again, you don't thank someone for not stealing your home. Rivers State's entire generation will go to hell for it fine, but there's no reward for not stealing someone's home. Do you thank people on the street for not robbing you?
Absolutely not! But it won't also kill you to acknowledge that gracious act will it? especially when you compare it to the reality on ground.
If I may add, someone like you will be quick to commend a smooth service you PAID for in a well organised establishment, especially when you realised it could easily be worse elsewhere, WHY? That my friend is plain bigotry!

APC and Igbokwe are not getting out of this one that easy. The request of Ndiigbo are lawful and a fundamental aspect of human rights.

In the Nigeria constitution, it falls under "freedom to association,Freedom of Belief and Religion, Freedom of Opinion and Information, Right of Peaceful Assembly and Association and Right to Participate in Government and in Free Elections.

Igbos have not been given their fair share in the day to day running of their Lagos State. Lagos is a City State created for all Nigerians and sustained by all Nigerians. Y is the government dominanted by a single ethnic group and not reflective of the multi-ethnic character of the state?

This is the problem that was raised by the NCSN and must be address in the next dispensation of Government in Lagos. Lagos is a state and not a region, it is multi-ethnic and not homogeneous or solely yoruba and this multi-ethnic character must be reflected in the governance of the city
state, for the sake of equity and all inclusive government.
"In the Nigeria constitution...................................................Igbos have not been given their fair share in the day to day running of their Lagos State. Where did you pull all this out from?, I'm sure not from the Nigerian constitution.

Nigerian geopolitical zoning classified Lagos state as part of the South-West states,
And Awolowo's decision to return properties and monies belonging to Igbos who flee the South-West during the civil war, it's strange how you missed that little detail, I think it was Shawn Carter who once said in an interview that people who are not wired for progress will always dwell on things you didn't do for them and refuse to acknowledge things you've done for them, no matter the magnitude (even things they can't do for others). For your information, it's not only in Lagos that Igbos are doing well, go to Ibadan the story are similar, I have many Igbo friends who expressed their desire to build their home in Ibadan.

I'm amazed too.
Yorubas are usually known to have an independent mind in Nigerian politics, but how on earth a brown toothed Gambari puppet simply mesmerized them into oblivion while stealing them blind is something that calls for an urgent reawakening of a people that are known to have said 'no' to oppression, highhandedness and the ugly born-to-rule-mentality of the Northern Islamaofascist oligarchy.
If anyone doubts me ,they should ask Abacha about his time as a military dictator, let him explain to you how the Yorubas made him a living demon both home and abroad until he died - Abacha was so demonized in such a manner to an extent that he unwillingly succumbed to making a democratic change before death snatched him.But nowadays what we are seeing is appalling as some of these sophisticated people with sophisticated politics are now lining up and plotting to return power at all cost to the Gambaris who ensured that the best and the freest and fair election won by a man that was not only loved by the Yorubas but every other region except for the self acclaimed owners of Nigeria was annulled, himself killed alongside with his wife.
The truth is that the real sons and daughters of Odua knew what to do when the time comes and I'm glad we have a lot them here.
Reverse psychology 101!

Your ignorance and primitiveness is nauseating! angry angry lipsrsealed lipsrsealed cry cry
Do your research, the whole business of genetically modified food is dodgy.
Food shortage as it is today is as a result of both poor distribution and storage, more than half of the food grown go to waste,
The engineered seeds affect the soil and normal seeds will find it hard to survive, therefore creating dependency on the 'manufacturers' of these seeds.
You called someone ignorant and primitive, but you fail to ask basic questions, what happens when low income Africans start to develop the kind of diseases not to mention strange allergies common in the West, they are very costly to treat you know that. At the moment, our major worries are feeding to stay alive, even security is secondary, what happens when more than half of children born are developing all sort of food allergies, who's going to pay for that, of course not this reckless government of ours. African women, generally, are more than 4times fertile than their western european counterparts, don't think it a due to superior gene, you are what you eat.

Francis5:
But you must not be the president to fight corruption. How about the country creating a brand new anti-corruption agency and handing it over to Buhari (since that is the only credential he seems to have) to manage, with far-reaching powers, except to kill? Such an agency will not be there only for prosecuting suspects, but to also work on re-orientating the moral fabric of Nigerians. Because as it is today, most Nigerians living in Nigeria are corrupt until proven otherwise (apologies to everyone, but that is a hard fact we must begin to imbibe if we must make that change)
In Nigeria as it is now, I'm afraid you have a fighting chance to curb curruption only if you're C.I.C. as the Nuhu Ribadu EFCC under Obasonjo administration showed us, not to mention Sanusi Central bank under Goodluck Jonathan, I'm assuming we all know what happened.

I still wonder why Fashola, who is a smart dude, at least by Nigerian standard, is not even giving the presidency a shot. Is he shy? Is he over-hyped, or is he a coward?
"Smart by Nigeria's standard" whatever that means, coplement or otherwise.
I will like to see what Boris Johnson or Rahm Emanuel can achieve in a caotic city like Lagos,
Whereas, all you need to do to run cities like London and Chicago is not to screw up, oil the machine, hire capable hand, the rule of law and transparency are principles that has been perfected over decades to help tame potential spoilers for you before they raise their ugly heads,
Can you say that about Nigeria in general? and that's the hopeless circle we found ourselves in, so when you see a politician in charge of a place like Lagos(of all places), and managed a seblance of order, much more some basic infrastructure, you might want to re-think your comment about his competence, Do you realise that Fashola kept his job as a result of public opinion, even his political sponsors were forsced to back off, that doesn't happen often in many places, especially Nigeria at the moment.

[quote author=Acidosis post=27484476]I made this statement few days back in response to a nairalander who said religion is not important in electoral matters

"Religion is important, that's the point. If people could change political parties like "undies", why can't they do same with religion?

An Ibo man will never become the governor of Oyo state; it is not bigotry; but a fact. Nigerians will never accept a muslim-muslim or a Christian-Christian or a Hausa-Hausa or a Yoruba-Yoruba president/vice-president.

Where are the over 80million Christians? Is Fashola better than All?
Fashola can't be better than all in my opinion, but I'm yet to see one better than him right now, I bet you can help name a few cos I'm a Christian and I will like to hear about ONE, just ONE.

"Fashola is Fashola because he has access to a state like Lagos with so many multinationals, productive people and of course, large resources.
The larger the size of a class the more challenging it is for the teacher, I don't know if I got that analogy right.

The fact that other governors in states like Ekiti, Jigawa, Kwara, Ogun, Katsina aren't making headlines in Lagos based TV channels do not signify failure in other states. We need to get these facts right."
The only fact we need is the numbers, and trust me they hardly mislead unlike personal opinions. Fashola is not the first governor of Lagos, how's that for another fact.

"There is little Fashola can do in Aso rock." [i]Nigeria nor be Lagos; Aso rock nor be Alausa"
I'm afraid you can't say that, cos you don't know that.
