Politics › Today Is Lockdown Deadline, yet No Statement From The FG by seborrhic(op): 7:59pm On Apr 12, 2020
Today will be the last day of the 14days lockdown period in Lagos,Abuja and Ogun state, yet there is no statement by the same FG or specifically the president whether the lockdown has been extended or ended.
This uncertainty would make it a free for all tomorrow:people would go out, assuming the lockdown has ended and the law enforcement agents would on the other hand be apprehending commuters, transporters, traders, workers claiming the lockdown is still in force.

TV/Movies › Re: See Why Yoruba Film Is A National Embarrassment- PICTURES by seborrhic:
BluntTheApostle:
Must you put Yoruba film when you know that all Nigerian mainstream movies have all these silly goofs?

Do I have to mention countless Igbo movies with certain goofs?

There was one old movie with Genevieve Nnaji among the cast. It was supposed to be a precolonial era movie, and yet Genevieve and her co-actor kissed mouth to mouth. Was there mouth-to-mouth kissing (French-kiss) among Africans at that time?

Do I also have to mention the numerous action movies featuring Gentle Jack. All the gunmen would put on leather jackets and gloves just to look like Hollywood style hitmen, and yet they will be walking under intense sun and sweating like Christmas chickens?

This is not to mention the ridiculous Spider Girl movie. Aside from stealing a Marvel character (including with its famous costume) without acknowledgement, the movie was so ridiculous that you should only watch it if you want to laugh and forget your sorrows.
Many of the tribalists here are kids.
So their tribal intents and slants are not surprising and usually taken with a pinch of salt.
But to also see adults, some even educated, neck deep in tribalism and even chief promoters of this tribal nonsense here, was so damn shocking.

Some people eat dog meat in Nigeria.
Sometimes I wonder what anyone enjoys in eating animals like dogs, frogs, cats, snakes etc.
These were animals eaten during days of famine or war out of survival. When not at war or famine, they are dangerous animals to eat and laws should be passed making it an offence to eat them.
Anything asides cow, goat, chicken, Turkey,Pig and some species of bush meat, proven to be safe, should be banned from eating.
Politics › Re: COVID-19: Total Lockdown In Daura As Three New Cases Confirmed by seborrhic: 6:48pm On Apr 10, 2020
This is real scary and cause for alarm.
Scarier than the growing spread in Lagos for the simple reason that there is greater degree of clustering and fellowership in the North.
The family would have attended mosque past Friday, done several days and sessions of prayers with family, friends and other Muslim faithfuls.
The state itself, not just Daura should be in lockdown, lest God save them there.

Very pleasing.
But it's nonsensical saying these patients were successfully managed there because no special treatment was given;just isolation and a watch and wait approach.
What would now be said of centres abroad that have to not just isolate the patients, but put them in ICU and on ventilators?

SirL0neWolf:
So the plan is;

- Foodstuffs were sent to strategic families placed in different areas for easy distribution to other church members within the area.

Because where I live is easily accessible to most families around my area, I was chosen as a kind of depot.

Items received; 2 bags of rice, 1 bag of beans, 20 crates of eggs, carton of tin tomatoes, Sphagetti, indomie, 2 cartons of sardines, 2 cartons of cooking oil

I’ve already received calls from some families who’ll be coming to pick up their items once the curfew is over for the day. So I’ll simply draw an inventory where they sign after receiving the foodstuffs

A big shout out to my pastor for being a caring man of God and leading by example.

Note; This is the second batch I am receiving in two weeks.
Though it's commendable but you were cunningly vague in your post.
The items you posted is it for a single family or for all church members in your area to share?
I am very sure it's to be shared by all members because even in times of plenty,no Nigerian has gotten more than a bag of rice, even from the government.
Your cunningness has eroded some of the goodwill your church might have garnered,at least from my end.

As unfortunate as your example goes, yes!
Support for a party or hatred of another should not make us support illegality because it could easily turn around.
What Wike should do in the instance you sighted is report such to the state police commissioner whose place it is to investigate and make arrests, strictly at his own professional decision.
Wike is just being overzealous and playing to the gallery.
Unfortunately he has an inept federal leadership playing into his hands.

You gave someone his contact,,, from all your post.. The transaction occurred in January..

But this is April...

Post the details of the payment, or the account details showing his name..

Or give details of his number..

Give a proof of your accusation..

Why didn't you follow him up since that Jan.. Or did he just deliver the clothing this month?
It's obvious there is something fishy about his/her claims.
It's so heartwarming seeing nairalanders trying to find out the truth about an accusation by asking relevant questions, and not just swallow every claim hook, line and sinker.
In these days of internet and easy flow of information,it becomes painful seeing some people just believe everything without using all the tools of the internet, easily available,to verify stories.

We are not occupying Nigeria but Rescuing her towns from Boko Haram-Chad President

We Cleared Boko Haram From Nigerian Towns: Their Soldiers Refuses to Take Over . - Chadian President. - New York Times

“We want the Nigerians (troops) to come and occupy, so we can advance,” President Déby complained in an interview at his palace last week. “We’re wasting time, for the benefit of Boko Haram,” he added. “We can’t go any further in Nigeria. We’re not an army of occupation.”
According to New York Time, “a small-country president cleaning up a far bigger and richer one’s mess”.
Déby showed no hint of triumphalism. Instead, he was frustrated, impatient: His men were stuck, still awaiting any sign of Nigerian forces who could come to take over.
He does not want to be holding Nigerian territory, he said. He wants to be on the move to give Boko Haram more Blows. -

Some of us said as much.
That agbero that calls himself a CDA chairman should be arrested and jailed for posting false information causing panic and social chaos.
Thereafter or even now the family of the deceased woman should file a civil suit against him, asking for damages.Even Lagos State government or even the FG should support the civil suit.
That man should have whatever he has taken away from him as fine for the civil suit.
He has caused the family, community, society and state irreparable damage.

Little thing some Nigerians would start annoying chest beating.
Many people at home around the world can make this diy home masks.
The videos are all over YouTube.
If they are so inventive, they should have produced the highly technical N-95 masks that requires more technical input.
Innovation and chest beating only comes when someone or organisation can use just the principles of a complex or technical product and produce it using materials at his/her disposal.
Why are they not manufacturing ventilators that even some people in the West are starting to produce using mere kitchen, automobile or even farm tools.
Ordinary, not even that very effective face mask, chest beating has started.
When they produce ventilators, only God knows the kind of noise people like that would make!
Politics › Re: COVID 19 - 11 Patients Recover From Yaba Facility by seborrhic: 7:22pm On Apr 02, 2020
I maintain that there is something about our makeup as a people that makes it difficult for the Corona virus to survive in the Nigerian and/or black body.
That is why this total lockdown is ill-conceived and poorly thought out.
The world should be using our survivors as a case study of what in us disrupts the pathogenesis of the disease because virtually all the fully resident Nigerians that tested positive have fully recovered.

In addition, an average American mindset is wired to the government free bills so non ever wants to buy a home outrightly even if they have the money they rather opt for a morgage which will last for 30-40yrs forgetting they may fall into financial, drug, accident or some kind of troubles which might make them not owning the house.
Government have made their minds lazy.
Unless you are very rich,it actually makes more sense buying a house on mortgage than outrightly buying it.
Following that your line of thought,if you you use all your earnings to buy a house and now fall into hard times, you are left with nothing.
But if u are on mortgage and you fall on hard times, you would still have something to fall on.

Dear Residents,

This is to inform you that there is a confirmed case of coronavirus in our neighboring community (Olowoira). The patient was taken to the Health Centre and when the NCDC/Lagos ambulance was unavailable to evacuate her, she was returned to her residence in a tricycle and eventually died.

As you can imagine, many people came in contact with the patient and the risk to transmission in the neighborhood is real.

We advise residents to please stay in their houses and refrain from unnecessarily going about.

Please keep safe. We advise a total stay at home for now.

Thank you.

On what basis did he conclude the lady died of Covid 19?Simply because an emergency response vehicle came to pick her of course!
Who knows he might even actually be an agbero because many of those motor park chairmen make so much money that they can afford to build houses in choice areas and become cda chairmen.

My fears , the western world has the capacity to restart it's Economy ( they have done it many times in the past ) but does Africa have that capacity?

Why shut down a struggling Economy over a virus that's clearly struggling to transmit in Nigeria and has recorded to questionable deaths of people with very serious underlying ailments
Thought many were imbued with senselessness on nairaland as usual.
Didn't know some people still use their grey matter.
Despite all the noise and hullabaloo, the virus is indeed finding it difficult to transmit here.If not with the way we 'close mark' each other in markets, buses, bus stops, work places, hotels, homes and even streets,we should have been looking at millions now down with the disease.
Again, states in the East and SS that are locking down their states,is it the mainly rural people or town folks some of whom have not ventured out of their villages or states at most, that would contract the virus?
We are not a travelling people, unlike the whites and from the basic epidemiology it's certain it's a traveller's disease.
Besides, there is something peculiar about either our make up or environment that has made it difficult for the virus to replicate.
I daresay that social distancing and lockdowns would not make any difference in our environment to the number of people that contract the disease, despite all the "follow follow" we are doing, without any detailed analysis of our own peculiar situation.
But in Nigeria today, anyone that suggests that the virus maynot reach 1/100th levels seen in other countries,is now deemed to be ancient in thinking and one trying to cause death of millions.
